Nigeria is not a place to be stranded in while there is a pandemic. Some people wont be able to survive in Nigeria due to lack of funds.

Instead of petitioning the Nigerian government they should check gov.uk/coronavirus and get the contact to call for people stranded abroad and how they can get support.

Them sef no get brain when you hear borders are being shut why didn't they fly back immediately instead them dey enjoy warm weather

If hausa/fulani you ought to have been an almaljiri at one point or the amaljiri around them affected their attitude

If yoruba.., you ought to have been an area boy or being around area boys did affect them

If igbo the hustling/trading mentality did have effect on their mentality

Politics / Re: The Only Tribe In Africa Colonized By Another African Tribe by bolayei: 10:27am On Mar 15, 2020
selemempe:
The Hausa was the only tribe in all of Africa that was fully colonized by another African tribe

Much of the Hausa population had settled in the cities throughout the region and became urbanized. The Fulani, in contrast, had largely remained a pastoral community, herding cattle, goats and sheep, and populating grasslands between the towns throughout the region. With increasing trade, a good number of Fulani settled in towns, forming a distinct minority.

Usman dan Fodio, an Islamic scholar and an urbanized Fulani, had been actively educating and preaching in the city of Gobir with the approval and support of the Hausa leadership of the city. However, when Yunfa, a former student of dan Fodio, became the sultan of Gobir, he restricted dan Fodio's activities, eventually forcing him into exile in Gudu. A large number of people left Gobir to join dan Fodio, who also began to gather new supporters from other regions. Feeling threatened by his former teacher, Yunfa declared war on dan Fodio on February 21, 1804.

Usman dan Fodio was elected "Commander of the Faithful" (Amir al-Mu'minin) by his followers, marking the beginning of the Sokoto state. Usman dan Fodio then created a number of flag bearers amongst those following him, creating an early political structure of the empire. Declaring a jihad against the Hausa kings, dan Fodio rallied his primarily Fulani "warrior-scholars" against Gobir. Despite early losses at the Battle of Tsuntua and elsewhere, the forces of dan Fodio began taking over some key cities starting in 1805. The Fulani used guerrilla warfare to turn the conflict in their favor, and gathered support from the civilian population, which had come to resent the despotic rule and high taxes of the Hausa kings. Even some non-Muslim Fulani started to support dan Fodio. The war lasted from 1804 until 1808, and resulted in thousands of deaths. The forces of dan Fodio were able to capture the states of Katsina and Daura, the important kingdom of Kano in 1807, and finally conquered Gobir in 1809. In the same year, Muhammed Bello, the son of dan Fodio, founded the city of Sokoto, which became the capital of the Sokoto state.

From 1808 until the mid-1830s, the Sokoto state expanded, gradually annexing the plains to the west and key parts of Yorubaland.

Talking about hausas being colonized by the fulanis is old gist atleast they are now liberated.

Please what do we call the occupation of the Niger delta by the rest of Nigeria?

I believe taking control of people's resources is also colonization especially if they are suffering even though they are meant to be the richest region in Africa. Imagine if the income from oil and gas from the Niger delta is shared amongst only by the people of that region.

Truth is a part of Nigeria is being colonized

Family / Re: Wife Gets Husband Arrested On His Way To Marry 5th Wife by bolayei: 4:26pm On Jan 24, 2020
One4me:

The man is an illiterate!
he is paying the PRICE of being an illiterate.

But first, let me say l dont support any man or father, not taking care of their own children, l find that very irresponsible.
But l al so know that there are situations when a wife and husband separates and the man wants to DIRECTLY PROVIDE for his Children but the wife would have non of that because she wants the man to give her the money, which most of them end up wasting on clothes, Jewelry and the children still have to suffer.
So, the Law and Judges should either allow Fathers to provide directly for their children or insist that the woman must show PROOF of how she spent the money provided, on the Children concerned.

Now, back to the story.
We are not told whether all these "five wives" are LEGAL marriages (marriages under the marriage act) in which case, the man will be guilty of bigamy - ...Seven years in prison.
- We were not told if the marriage to the wife in question was traditional or legal? If it was traditional, the man has the right to marry ther women, as wives. Tht is not an offense and the Judge cant do him anything about that.
- Marriage are family law issues does not concern the Police and this is just a case of intimidation and Police harassment.
The man should get a Lawyer like me and we would sue the NPF and even seek to commit that Policeman who effected the arrest to jail.

Did anyone notice that the Judge did not oblige to remandingthe man in prison custody?
It is because she knew that the man had not committed any "Criminal offense", ab initio
.
The man has not even broken any court order, with regards to Child Support, as there was No Order in place as of the time of his arrest.
Arrest over what sef? Trying to marry another wife ? They should have waited for the offence to be committed before arresting him, assumeing he was legally married before!
This man needs to sue these fools and charge the wife for stalking and harrassment.

Illiterate idiots everywhere.

You said it all... Why did the judge seize his passport? The youngest child should be at least 20 years by now so not a minor.

Nigeria is a failed state

Romance / Re: Naija Guys In Diaspora: Can You Marry A Non-nigerian For Real? by bolayei: 7:16am On Jan 24, 2020
Not all Nigerians abroad can marry Nigerian women. See it like this we love Nigeria but Nigerian is not conducive to live in. Same way we want to be with Nigerian women but compared to other women, Nigerian women are in the bottom of the food chain.

Nigerian women look too serious abroad
Nigerian women always have one problem or another
Nigerian women kiss their teeth(hissing)
Nigerian depend on you for everything in a country full of opportunities
Nigerian act inferior when in the same room as other nationalities
Nigerian women always learn the common ways and mistake it as oyinbo way
Nigerian women in Nigeria are more attractive than the ones I have seen abroad
Same way you won't marry an illiterate in Nigeria same way we want to marry a woman with prospect not marry carers, cleaners, customer service attendance etc
Nigerian women hardly integrate

If you travelled abroad in your teenage then you will most likely not marry a Nigerian woman except she too came here as a teenager or was born here.

I can give a lot of reasons why people marry foreigners for the long term

He was a calm looking man he wore dark shade to keep a mean serious look.

I will never forget when the pope came visiting, the pope a white man dressed in white representing an Angel while Abacha a black man dressed in black as a demon because that's what most people think of him. Very strong statement

My guy some people are lone people and it takes time for them to realise it. Keep yourself to yourself and keep your body and mind busy with positive energy. Don't stop being nice and don't expect people to be nice to you.

Not everyone is lucky with the opposite s.ex too so if that's not working pay less mind to it because girls will break your heart.

Please don't axe your sister and please please don't contemplate taking your life as it seems you are kind of depressed.

Hello Nairalanders!
Please, I really need your advice most especially from matured men and women. Am a kind of person that don't like associating with ladies because I see them has distractions right from my University time now this has become part of my lifestyle am absolutely addicted to it.
This year will make me 35yrs old I don't have a girlfriend also I don't still have interest of becoming a married man yet reason because am still chasing my career and money.
Am a graduate, also I got qualified as a Chartered Accountant last year, currently am earning 120k per month, Am staying in one room apartment rent of N85k.. have Managed to save up to a N1m as savings.
When I see people earning even 40k married with 2 children I always feel as if something is wrong with me.

Bro do what makes you happy. Why follow the norm if you can be different. Only question is don't you want to have kids? Marriage is not compulsory as long as you can do things on your own without the help of a woman and you can comfort yourself when you are down then you are good. Take your time size the woman make sure she brings something to the table not just depend on you and you will be fine.

GRANPA, continue to be single, if at 35 you don't have multiple streams of income, or earn only 120k from your day job, then what has life taught you?

Pls yesterday's newspaper like you should stay single abeg, you are already almost past your prime so your sperm is reducing in quality. You will probably be balding, have a pot belly or begin to show signs of grey hair.

Women like their guys young and virile, still able to last for 30 mins without Viagra. You are approaching the age when you need to start taking pills for your blood pressure

You need to improve, or get a girl from the village to marry

Please how many streams of income do you have? Only in Nigeria will broke girls call a man broke. And who says men in their 30s don't last long? Do you know the older the man gets the better he is in bed? Are you better than a village girl? Now I know why those lesbian girls in dubai were dissing you.

120k is 4k naira a day for one month. I don't even spend 4k a day when I visit Nigeria. His monthly salary can pay his annual rent leave change. He is doing okay even though not rich but still a millionaire.

Can you visit a guy without him paying for your cab? Do you earn enough to buy your wig or you have streams of men that you tax here and there.
I wish our guys can size up our girls. If a girl ain't got nothing to offer but kitten especially how there are alot of runs girl to satisfy sexual urge what's the point.

Omo girl go and get something doing your mates in some other places are independent and don't depend on a man

Are governors allowed to sack local government chairmen? Isn't it same as a president sacking a governor? Only in Nigeria will a governor attempt to sack a king instead of the governor to report to the king. In Nigeria King's report to local government chairmen. If I can add to what you've been told, here is what I can say. Igbos don't truly love to marry from other tribes, 90 percent of success rate is when an Igbo man marry an Igbo woman. You are a foreigner in another man's land, 22 with a baby, school dropout and a baby mama. Fuvk introduction. Here is my only advice, you still have more years to go in life. Take your kid to your family, and further your education. You can get marry when you are 24 or 25. The sky is your limits. Take the risk and move on with your life. Listen... You will suffer in the marriage. Even if we settle the both of you today, it's going to continue tomorrow. Am so sure that he's mad at you for bring this topic here and exposing him and his private life. If you like to suffer, keep up with the marriage.

I'm sure her man no look like you. See as you look decent and drop decent comment.

Op let me use this gentleman I quoted as an example... Men with decency are still out there. Forget the guy and move on.

Let me teach you oyinbo style, get something to do and save up for an accommodation and then use style go carry you child from them. They don't have any right to fight you for the child because you are not legally married to him so he will loss in court since customary marriage is not legally binding.

I'm not an advocate of broken homes but leave the guy and go have a life. Go back to school or start a trade and leave the child with his mum.

Truth be told you will end up leaving him. The question is when is the right time to take action? I will answer for you "NOW".
He is not mentally ready to be married and you will end up mentally draining yourself and depression might set in.

Nowadays men marry girls that already have kids so no need to fear not being to marry in future.

You are even 22 my mum was 17 when she had me and one of the best decisions she made was to leave my dad and today she is very independent and doing good in her career and moved on to have my sisters and are both professionals. So a child is not the end of the world.

Why wouldn't anyone take it seriously.

It's a saying as long as its not confrontational then it's nothing to take seriously. If it's confrontation then it's a different ball game.

If one decides to take how we communicate seriously back home then na to dey fight always.

You strike me as a man that doesn't take nonsense but just be calm in your approach. I used to get vexed when people make some statements too but I realised its just our figure of speech. I grew up in surulere lagos off adeniran ogunsanya and back then people from shitta, aguda, ijesha, lawanson which is still in surulere will casually insult a whole generation. I got into a lot of fights till I realise that we all have different upbringing and environment matters alot. Don't fight either of them. Talk to your friend and you both can drain s.hag him till he runs away and don't forget to drain him off his cash. That's what we used to do when I was younger if a girl sleeps with her man's friend the two guys will play her and s.hag her. All the boyfriend needs to do is ask the girl if it's okay to have 3some and obviously because she is already sleeping with the friend so she will say yes.
