Politics / Re: Biafra: Buhari Should Reverse IPOB Ban - Prof. Ben Nwabueze by Bre(f): 10:45am On Aug 08, 2018
The day Buhari does that just know that an alien is masquerading in Buhari's skin. That unrepentant tyrant would but telling himself "I can never stoop so low", not knowing that that is perhaps the single act he can perform to actually rescue his second term bid.

My disgust for Buhari lies solely at the feet of his wanton disregard for human life. Namely the lives of my people (IPOB, Igbos) and those of the Middle Belt. Everything else is nonsense politics. You can never replace the lives lost but you can do a lot to mend the bridges burned.

I have been buying stuffs on eBay since 2012. The first time I decided to sell was last year. I posted my 64gb iPhone 6 on eBay. I actually posted it as auction and the highest bidder bought it @ 420 USD.The buyer happened to come from Sri Lanka...

How sure are you that this buyer isn't lying about not receiving the phone? eBay needs to investigate the matter as you have proof that you shipped it. Next time, send shipments that require a signature from the receiver. That way, there is abolutely no way they can lie about not receiving a shipment. Ndo, this sounds so frustrating undecided

This picture just reminded me of our hood hoe who died. The news hit us like a tsunami. From miles away you can hear brothers sobbing in mild tones. I myself sank to my knees when they told me.
.
For the guys who never had a taste of her, it was sorrow still. Their hopes and dreams were cut short by her untimely demise.
.
O'death!! where is thy sting? you coward. You have stolen from us. The other girls rejected us, they shunned us! they'd rather eat their virginity but the hood hoe? she saved us wankers!
.
We contributed money for her funeral, each brother a thousand naira. We found a dead sheep in the yard.Nature gave us meat. We mourned her. We made songs and sang praises of her. We beat the drums with our third legs, it sent rhythms to her soul
.
Its been 2years since then, parents now lock their willing daughters away from us. The older brothers can't hold it no more.
Many have deceased themselves to meet the hood hoe. The rest of us are still contemplating.

Blessed be the hood hoe even in death. Accursed be celibacy.

Hubris. ...the downfall of so many over-bloated egos and empty testicle, dangling and swaying from side to side. Soyinka has joined the rank and file of Obasanjo, Buhari, IBB, Abdusalami, Gowon, Tony Anenih, EK Clark, etc etc. Nigeria have them in abundance, men who are so shameless and have refused to quit the stage, for the younger generation. Men who think they are so wise, the country would crash without them. Men who think they are immortals sharing this tiny space with mere mortals. Men who have a sense of entitlement. Soyinka just called himself the champion of free speech, yet when we apply same free speech to question his actons, he gets angry. Is this what he learnt from known dictators that he had been dining with or he has been a closet intolerant man all his life?

He said Nigeria weep more than the bereaved and interfere in what is not their business. Shall we ask Soyinka what he was doing when he carried America's election on his head to the extent of threatening to tear his green card and leave? I guess he was wiping the tears from the bereaved. Did he think he loved America more than its citizens?

The people you think are intelligent in this country are actually the ones that will disappoint you the most. My advise to Soyinka is to join the group of Obasanjo and Co, men who live and thrive in infamy and continue to shove his face in our faces and embarrass himself and family till whenever. This is where he belongs now.

You have poured out my entire sentiments in one comment.

First and foremost, no state has the right to exploration and exploitation without FG involvement.

Secondly, the company Liquefied Resources, a coy based in Spring, Texas as at this time yesterday had no functional website, no project completed etc. When we cried out about the lies and fraud in this, the website developer of AAUA(Ondo state uni) hurriedly hosted one site for the company. As a matter of fact, the coy was registered in February 2012.

However, Thomas Elard Cooley, the acclaimed President of the coy, is a Houston-based 75year old man with no track record of exploration and exploitation of any mineral resources. The LinkedIn account of the Nigerian Subsidiary MD, Tony Amechi James, says he has been with the coy since 2006. A company registered 2012, just four years ago! Hmmmm

Mimiko and his boys have really dealt with us. The deceit and recklessness is killing us. They could not even package their 'robbery' well. A certain Adesanya Abayomi wrote on ODSG website the coy is from Canada on 19th and America the second day.

We have been fooled two times. This time around, Ondo people are saying no to iroko. A wild tree lives in the wild!!

Business / Africa: A Economic Outlook (by The Economist) by Bre(f): 5:18pm On Apr 15, 2016
From the Business in Africa section of The Economist.

The continent’s future depends on people, not commodities

“IS ANYONE here actually hoping to make any money, or are you all just trying to minimise your losses?” The question, asked at a dinner in London for investors who specialise in Africa, showed how the mood has changed in the past year. The financiers around the table—mostly holders of African bonds—all said they were simply trying not to lose money.

Only a few years ago people were queuing up to invest in Africa. As recently as 2012 Zambia paid less than Spain to borrow dollars. Private-equity funds dedicated to Africa raised record sums to invest in shopping malls and firms making everything from nappies to fruit juice. Businessfolk salivated at the prospect of selling to the fast-growing African middle class, which by one measure numbered 350m people. Miners sank billions into African soil to feed China’s appetite for minerals.

Now investors are glum. In the short run, they are right to worry. In the long run, as our special report on African business shows this week (see article), the potential rewards from a market of 1.2 billion people are too juicy to ignore, despite the risks.

From oil in the gears to sand in the wheels
For decades, sentiment about Africa has followed commodity prices, rising and falling like a bungee-jumper at Victoria Falls. The recent plunge has caused a 16% drop in sub-Saharan Africa’s terms of trade (the ratio of the price of its exports to that of its imports). Growth across the region will slow to about 3% this year, predicts the World Bank, down from 7-8% a decade ago. That is barely ahead of population growth of 2.7%. Nigeria and Angola, two big oil exporters, will probably need bail-outs from the IMF within a year.

Yet Afro-pessimists should remember two things about commodity busts. They don’t last for ever. And they don’t hurt everyone: 17 African countries with a quarter of the region’s population will show a net benefit from the current one, thanks to cheaper energy. More important, by focusing on the minerals markets it is easy to miss some big trends that are happening above ground—and these are mostly positive.

The first is that Africa is far more peaceful than it was even a decade ago. The wars that ripped apart the Democratic Republic of Congo and sucked in its neighbours, causing millions of deaths, have largely been quelled. A few states, such as Somalia, South Sudan and the Central African Republic, are in chaos. But overall the risk of dying violently in Africa has tumbled. The latest ranking of the world’s most violent countries by the Geneva Declaration includes just two African states (tiny Lesotho and Swaziland) among its top ten.

Africa is also far more democratic than it was. In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, only one sub-Saharan government was peacefully voted out of office. Now nearly all face regular elections, which are harder to rig thanks to social media. Voters have real choices—one reason why policies have improved.

Old-style governments favoured nationalisation, printing money and (in some cases) rounding peasants up at gunpoint and forcing them onto collective farms. Small wonder Africa grew poorer between 1980 and 2000. Now inflation has largely been tamed, most central banks are islands of excellence and many ministers boast of cutting red tape. Five of the ten fastest reformers in the World Bank’s latest report on the ease of doing business are African. Better government has led to better results. The proportion of Africans living in absolute poverty has fallen from 58% to 41% since 2000. In that time primary-school enrolment has risen from 60% to 80%. Annual malaria deaths have fallen by more than 60%.

Pessimists fret that much of this progress will reverse now that Africa faces economic headwinds. There are some worrying signs. Leaders once hailed as democrats are amending constitutions to escape term limits. In Congo, Joseph Kabila’s efforts to cling to power risk restarting a civil war, as the president of neighbouring Burundi already has. The continent’s two biggest economies are making needless and costly policy errors. Nigeria is trying to prop up its overvalued currency by, in effect, banning imports. Instead it is driving up inflation. South Africa, meanwhile, has prompted capital flight and brought economic growth to a halt by keeping in power a president who was found to have breached the constitution and on whose watch corruption has flourished.

But massive missteps like these are now the exception rather than the rule. Most countries in Africa are following sound economic policies, controlling government deficits and keeping inflation in check. Dig beneath the headlines, and even in countries that are making big errors there is momentum for reform: in South Africa once-taboo policies such as privatisation are back on the table, and in Nigeria the government is clamping down on corruption and trimming a bloated civil service. Ethiopia is sucking in foreign investment, and smaller economies such as Ivory Coast and Rwanda are growing rapidly after making it easier to do business.

Minds, not mines
The continent’s future is in the balance. Whether it bounces back from this commodity slump or slips back into stagnation, war and autocracy will depend on whether enough of its leaders keep moving forward. Two goals stand out. The first is to recognise the new reality. Given the decline in its terms of trade, Africa’s buying power has gone down. Currencies must fall and governments adjust. Those that relied on mineral royalties must broaden their revenue bases: taxes are just 10-15% of GDP in most African countries.

Second, African governments need to keep up the hard slog of improving the basics. Bad roads, grasping officials and tariff barriers still hobble trade between African countries, which is only 11% of total African exports and imports. Improving that means investing in infrastructure, fighting corruption and freer trade.

Africa’s past has long been defined by commodities, but its future rests on the productivity of its people. By 2050 the UN predicts that there will be 2.5 billion Africans—a quarter of the world’s population. Given good governance, they will prosper. The alternative is too dire to imagine.

Politics / IPOB Press Release On The Fallacious Abian Murder Accusations By DSS by Bre(f): 5:27pm On Apr 10, 2016
IPOB has released this statement in retort to the obvious scam the DSS is trying to pull.

I am really proud of nairalanders. It seems that the majority of us, despite any political/cultural divide, can see through the dangerous and inciteful shenanigans of the DSS.

Truthfully, something insidious is going on in this country, but the response I've read from nairalanders concerning this story gives me hope that the machinations of this government to further use propaganda as a divisive tool against its people is no longer as effective.

Profile of shameless journalist who carried such a baseless story, severely thin on evidence: https://twitter.com/FredrickNwabufo
I think it's time we start holding these shameless goats to account for such irresponsible reporting.

Press release below:

THE UNSUCCESSFUL FRAMING UP OF IPOB AS A VIOLENT AND TERRORIST GROUP: BUHARI AND DSS SHOULD TRY HARDER NEXT TIME

Retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari and his Gestapo Organization called Department of State Services (DSS), henceforth referred to as “Gestapo-DSS“, have once again failed in their attempts to portray the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a violent and terrorist group. In their latest but poorly written statement titled “DSS Official Statement on Barnawi and IPOB“, the Gestapo-DSS stated that: “the Service has uncovered the heinous role played by members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), in the abduction/kidnap of five Hausa-Fulani residents, namely Mohammed GAINAKO, Ibrahim MOHAMMED, Idris YAKUBU, and Isa Mohammed RAGO at Isuikwuato LGA in Abia State.” They further noted that: “The abducted men were later discovered at the Umuanyi forest, Abia State, where they were suspected to have been killed by their abductors and buried in shallow graves, amidst fifty (50) other shallow graves of unidentified persons. Arrest and investigation conducted so far, revealed that elements within the IPOB, carried out this dastardly action.”
To drive home their evil intentions, the murderous Gestapo-DSS asserted that: “It is pertinent therefore to alert the general public that IPOB, is gradually showing its true divisive colour and objectives, while steadily embarking on gruesome actions in a bid to ignite ethnic terrorism and mistrust amongst non-indigenes in the South-East region and other parts of the country. Following this act, tension is currently rife among communal stakeholders in the State with possibilities of spillover to other parts of country“
Sadly, Buhari and his Gestapo-DSS have come too late to the party because the world is already aware of their plans as earlier revealed through IPOB‘s statement dated September 9, 2015 and titled: “ PERSISTENT TERRORIST ATTACKS ON BIAFRANS BY THE NIGERIAN STATE.”
The aforementioned IPOB‘s statement is posted at the end of this Press Release to remind Buhari and his Gestapo-DSS that IPOB knew ahead of time, what they have up their sleeves. But apart from IPOB’s proactive warning, it is important to analyze this red-herring being drawn by Buhari and his Gestapo-DSS.
First, on the website of the Gestapo-DSS, they stated thus: “We are obligated by law to investigate the following;
· Threat of espionage
· Threat of espionage
· Threat of sabotage
· Economic crimes of national security dimension
· Terrorist activities
· Separatist agitations and inter-group conflicts.“
But all the claims above are at variance with Section-2(3) of CAP74 LFN 2004 which is the law that established and empowers the Gestapo-DSS. Above all, it is not the duty of the Gestapo-DSS to investigate and make conclusive statements on civilian abduction and murder cases but rather, it is the duty of the Homicide Department of the Nigeria Police Force under the Force/State Criminal Investigation Department (FCID or SCID) and the office of the Director of Coroner’s Inquest of the State in question. Therefore, structurally and mandate-wise on this occasion, the Gestapo-DSS is a fraud and their claims/activities are equally fraudulent.
Now, we come to the their statement; How did the Gestapo-DSS come to the conclusion that it was IPOB members that perpetrated the said crime? Why was it so easy to identify the five Hausa-Fulani victims by names while they were unable to identify the name of atleast one person out of the other fifty victims? Are they saying that only Hausa-Fulani people can be easily identified by names? Who conducted the “arrest and investigation“ and when was it done? By the way, where are the pictorial and video evidences of the claims by the Gestapo-DSS in comparison to the pictures and video footages provided by IPOB when Buhari killed dozens of Biafrans on February 9, 2016 and for which Buhari cowardly refused to watch the video footage during an interview with Al Jazeera’s Martine Dennis?
It is clear to everyone that Buhari and his Gestapo-DSS are bereft of any strategy to quell the rising profile of IPOB and the growing resoluteness of Biafrans to restore their God-ordained nation of Biafra despite extra-judicial killings, intimidations, blackmail, monetary inducements to Ohaneze Ndigbo and allied groups, and sundry evil acts perpetrated by state agents. On the other hand, the Gestapo-DSS have realized that they are on the losing side of the legal proceedings that they initiated against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB. They have rather resorted to concocting stories of abduction and killing and have subtly introduced the word “Terrorism“ so that they will hopefully make it stick on IPOB and then get Buhari to proclaim IPOB a violent and terrorist organization.
One of the reasons behind this ill-fated statement by the Gestapo-DSS is to give them the opportunity to go to court and cite Section-62(2) of CAP38 LFN 2004, which is the missing piece in the second charge against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. But they have failed woefully. Another reason is to give justifications to any upcoming genocidal killing of Biafrans in the Northern (Arewa nation) part of Nigeria, having laid the grounds for reprisal killing of those from the Igbo-speaking areas of Biafraland residing in Arewa portion of Nigeria. Therefore, IPOB is once again alerting the world of the evil plans of Buhari and his Gestapo-DSS in which they want to tag Biafrans as violent and terrorists.

We urge the public to disregard this hogwash statement from the Gestapo-DSS because it lacks credibility, it is not from the constitutionally/legally authorized source, and it is intended to achieve the twin objectives of classifying IPOB as a terrorist organization and satisfying Section-62(2) CAP38 LFN 2004.

Well, with the events playing out, it sure looks to me like the South-East were the WISER ones for refusing to be deceived by the FAKE change and propaganda.

When history comes to judge you and you think of the role you played in electing a 73 year-old illiterate tribal supremacist and coup-plotting ex-dictator to rule your country of over 170 million people in the 21st century, would you be proud of yourself?

From "Buhari is a reformed democrat", the new narrative being pushed by his lapdogs today is "democracy is an obstacle to the war on corruption". "Let us withdraw the constitution to help Buhari fight corruption".

Your parents queued up for long hours in 1984 for milk, rice and beans; you'd have to be a gullible dimwit to think Buhari gives a damn about you queueing up for long hours in 2016 for fuel.

A people with no knowledge of their history will never be gifted with the skills of retrospective analysis, and are bound to keep repeating their mistakes. This is exactly why it was easy to pick up an expired ethnic bigot and despotic illiterate from the dustbin of history, and dust him up into a "reformed democrat" in the eyes of the gullible, ignorant populace.

I'm so in love with this comment! Even my own family members who supported Buhari during elections, I just don't look at them the same way any more. It takes a special kind of ignorance to vote for that man. Those that still continue to support him given his current performance? Their case is beyond redemption.
