Nairaland / General / Visa Direct Transfer by burnin: 3:56pm On Jan 11, 2017
Hi All,

Has anyone successfully used this service in Nigeria to receive money from abroad? http://www.visa.com.ng/ng/en-ng/personal/features/visadirect.shtml

Visa Nigeria says it should work with all banks, but my GT Visa Debit card is having issues receiving the funds.

Phder: I have a feeling you're the girl on TV some months ago, at the Nigeria embassy in Canada, threatening to burn your passport. *No offense intended* because I understand your frustration.

I've not been in your shoe before, but I think they should be ready to issue another one since you're providing the one you "accidentally" destroyed.

Actually, I just saw that video while researching this issue. Not me. The burning passport thing was a bit extreme, but I did understand the lady's frustration.

Travel / Nigerian Embassy Passport Issue by burnin: 7:17am On Oct 13, 2013
I have recently accidentally destroyed my passport and I needed to get it replaced. I am in Canada, and I went to the embassy to have it renewed and the head of the embassy refuses to issue the passport. They claim that I have deliberately tried to destroy the passport in some kind of ploy to gain a advantage of having multiple passports or some kind of other ploy which I have no idea where it is coming from. I have even showed them the destroyed passport. I'm not sure if it an issue that has been seen from other people or some kind of power trip.

They claim that I will have to go to Nigeria to get my passport replaced. I think this is not something that can possibly be due process. I have a valid study permit and work permit but I do not want to risk having to travel back without a passport. I'm not sure how to proceed with this.

Has any one had a similar issue? How do I proceed?

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Adebayor Celebration Courts Controversy by burnin: 1:23am On Sep 15, 2009
Please people get it straight.I am an Arsenal fan but my view on this is totally unbiased. Adebayor is a good player on his day but what he did was unacceptable and if any other player had done that against his former club would be met with the same reaction. He almost caused a riot among the Arsenal fans.
Secondly, van persie's tackle was rash but you are NOT allowed in football to retaliate no matter the nature of the tackle. He deserves a ban and I think all Ive said is fair.

Education / Canadian Study Permit Question by burnin: 8:14pm On Mar 01, 2008
Please I want to apply for a canadian study permit for undergraduate studies. My parents are both retired but have enough money to pay the fees. The required documents contain things like payslips for the last 12 months and information on employer and stuff like that. Will the fact that my parents are retired have an effect on the study permit decision?
