Fellow investors, I just played around with some calculations and I was shocked by the simplicity and result.

Assuming I am a civil servant and decide to commit to save 10k (ten thousand naira only) every month, at the end of the year I will have 120k (one twenty thousand naira) only. Assuming I decide to invest that money on a 10% investment per annum without stopping the 10k per month savings, that at the 35th year, around the time I am retiring I will be worth around 30 million?

With that kind of money, what is your business whether government or pension funds paid your gratuity or not. Just 10k a month o, not 20k not 100k not 1 million, just 10k, it is just crazy.

See attached sheet for details

I find the values difficult to believe, can someone else also do the calculation and confirm I did not make a mistake.

Have you factored in the time-value of money? How much will your 30M of 2020 worth in 2055? My brother/sister, you cannot get rich by saving. You need to put that money ou're saving into real work.

OritaIbadan:
I employed this 21years old lady last year as a sales rep. At resumption to work she appeard so decent and godly always With her Bible and Sunday school manual. I was really impressed by her spiritual and respectful nature. This made me treat her different from others. I buy her things and sometimes gives her money and always discuss her good life style with my wife. But what amazed me was that my wife was so indifferent about her each time I discuss her my wife will quickly change the topic. I thought, well woman with their naughty behavior towards other women.

Fast forward to June first this year her phone was stolen and I have a phone in office that I allow them access to incase their phone is off I can easily reach them through it. This faithful day, I tried to access my Facebook account using the office phone and found out that this same lady had used it but forget to logout. Well, I knew it was wrong to check her inbox but all the same I did.

After checking her inbox I couldn't sleep all night. I found out that she is having unprotected sex with 5 guys each guy per Sunday and she just did an abortion March this year the very day she told me that she was sick and can't make it to work and she wasn't sure who among the guys that impregnated her. I also found out that she had missed her period again and trying to hang it on one of the boys. The amazing thing is that non of these guys suspects her, they all believe she is a faithful girl friend.

I have thought of relieving her of her job, but my wife is asking me what should I give as reasons. But the truth is that I had never winessed such a wayward life before. If I pretend as though I know nothing she will eventually commit another abortion and continue with such life which is very dangerous at her age. What if she is my own daughter?

Please I want the mode to push this to the front page. I want to seek others opnion about it

You're trespassing.

If she's not failing on her job, her private life is not enough a reason to sacknher. She might even end worse.

Find a good opportunity to talk to her.

UzorChinonso:
Good day Nairalanders, I have been married for just a year now and it has not been easy here! My Husband wants to know every thing about my finance. He has disturbed me to know how much is my salary worth of.

I have always denied him of the fact, what I know is that I used my money to refurbish our flat, got some new things to change the outlook of the place....

But I am not really finding it funny any longer. As we speak, he collected my ATM card since last two weeks, said I must tell him the pin or I should forget having it back. I went to my bank, told them that I lost the card and they changed it for me last Friday and he collected it again said it's either I tell him the pin or he will do something funny ...

I don't know what funny thing he's gonna do but I am worried! Pls is this how marriage is?
He claims to own me and own my salary! Is it fair? This marriage is too early instead I would have quit and I am pregnant at the moment!
What do I do? I don't want anybody to know anything about my finances including him till I have my baby whom my spirit accepted that I should make my next of kin.

What do I do ?

1. Where did you two find yourselves?
2. How did you end up in marriage?

For the time being, block your ATM Cards. Do your best to limit your transactions to banking app.

If he needs money, he should work for his money. Both of you should take care of the family.

Best transfer and the easiest is to sell all your holding in that stockbroking house and open account with either Morgan capital or CSL. Both are on really time online trading, you can buy stock by yourself and can still sell the same particular stock you buy in the next minute with both of them. I uses both and they are efficient. The standard Union security (SUS) was among the stockbroking firm I used, but they refused to upgraded to digital stockbroking firm, so I sold most of my holding with them, leaving some with them, pending when they will upgrade.

Then if you choose to maintain your current CHN which you got when you open account with your analog stockbroker, then fill it in the form of the new stockbroking firm you want to use, this is because if you have activated e-dividend mandate with that CHN, as you open new account using that CHN number, you don't need to activate again.

Thanks for your response.

I have a new account with Morgan with thesame CHN.
I thought about selling off the whole holdings but being analog guys, they are unreliable compared to selling myself. Also, some units have shrank due to mergers. I'm considering moving them to my new platform either to add more or sell off.

Hope your new broker is not a semi analog broker?

You better chose a good digital broker.Refer to members here for a good recommendation.

Then go to the new broker to process all documents necessary for the transfer. If successful, you will need to pay 5k to your analog broker and your new digtal broker will initiate the transfer online.Thats all.

Guy,hope you are not oweing your analog broker?Make sure you have a good record with them before commencement of transfer.

Secondly,if the stocks you have with your analog broker are stocks like daar com,ftn cocoa, unhomes, unic ins, vono etc, your new broker will take to their heels while you will be pursuing them to come back for you o.

Thanks for your response.

To the best of my knowledge, I am not owing the analog broker (RESORT).
However, what could have led to one owing a broker?

I am now using MORGAN CAPITAL, hope that a digital broker grin

As per the quality of stocks... GTB, FBNH, ACCESS, etc. The only weak hands there are JAPAUL cry and CILEASING.

Please, I need a clarification. I want to move my stocks from an analog broken to my new one with live online access.

I have a copy of inter-member transfer form already. When I'm done filling it, am I the one to take it to both my old (resident) or just submitting to my new broke (target) is okay.

The recent pullback has now brought back the thinking by some investors and analyst alike that the mkt is back to its bearish posture and that prices may well revert back to March 2020 lows (i.e ZENITH and GTB @ N10.70 and <N16.90 respectively)
I laugh when I read such assertions here. wink cheesy grin

The situation will be similar to when the lock down from the pandemic was at the height of it.
Then, 15 men managed to get a COMMUTER BUS carrying ESSENTIALS for a trip from Kogi to Lokoja after several days of waiting.
...but no sooner had they left, 12 of these men decided to alight from the bus on fears that they may be arrested at a nearby police check point.
Well, the other 3 men decided to allow them alight, and thereafter continued with the journey. ...and in NO time, they arrived safely at their destination in Lokoja.

The other 12 men who then had to walk their way from Kogi to Lokoja were the ones now confronted with the very same fears they had. ...they had to pay their way through every single mobile police checkpoint who reminded them that their was actually a LOCKDOWN !!. wink cheesy grin
Even when they managed to get to Lokoja and called the other 3, they were told to come to Asokoro in Abuja were they had gone to deliver some of the ESSENTIALS.
...in the end, it turned out to be a (walking)journey full of regrets.

Symbolic meanings;
The lockdown is the present state of the mkt.
The 15 men are INVESTORS.
The commuter bus with essentials are the VALUABLE ASSETS.
The journey from Kogi to Abuja is the REWARD(ROI in view)
The mopol men are the STOCKBROKERS.
...while the 12 men are a make-up of the 12-later word LEMENTATIONS.

The market "is currently in the act of reproducing the 12 other men".
...then it will seperate the 3 shrewd men from the other 12.(this can happen before anyone can say Jack Robinson !!) wink cheesy grin
TIME will soon set matters straight and put them in their right perspective !!

Regards

Report says AMAZON is in talks to acquire an approx 5% stake(worth over $2B) in BHARTI AIRTEL INTL.
The e-commerce firm(amazon) owned by current world richest man Jeff Bezos is looking to broaden its asset investment base and sees a future in telecommunication.

...a brief.

BHARTI AIRTEL intl, which is India's 3rd largest mobile telecommunications provider(after RELIANCE JIO and VODAFONE IDEA) is looking to expand on its infrastructure, grow its subscriber base(presently over 300M) and boost overall earnings.

BHARTI AIRTEL Africa which is listed on the floor of the NSE is a subset of BHARTI AIRTEL intl/group.
Will this rob off on the African entity?

DON'T EVER TRADE AT MARKET PRICE. You'd be at the broker's fate.

There are exemptions however, if you can, NEVER TELL YOUR BROKER TO EXECUTE AT MARKET PRICE.

For now,80% of people who are active in the market are traders who survive by using technicals to trade.

I understand you are a dividend investor. You need to take advantage of low prices.wait a little, your time will come up again.

To all the the ancestors and experts in the house. Is it advisable to go for ex-div stocks at this time?

I am holding Africa Prudential and Zenith and I'd like to increase my holdings seeing that they are liquid and give good divs.

Any other recommendations will be welcomed.

Family / Re: Do I Build A Small House Now Or Keep Saving? by Care4: 10:58pm On May 01, 2020
covid2019:
I am in a dilemma worsened by this covid19.

I am a graduate male of 29 residing in the East. I still squat with a friend, not because I don't have money for house rent. But principally because I have been unable to figure out what I want to do with my life, hence renting a house feels like a commitment that might get me stuck.

I always feel I might move anytime soon-- to either another state or abroad for masters or just practice of my profession. Note that I didn't study a STEM course.

All these while squatting, I have been saving via my proceeds from hustles.

In the wake of this COVID19, I checked all my banks and found out that money I have in my account has lost so much value given the dollar rate.

I have 11.4 million, inclusive of my working capital, plus a rickety car valued at 350k. Each time, I need just 3-5m as working capital.

It seems that trying to save more is false economy and might be counter productive.

NOW, I AM CONSIDERING buying a plot of land and erecting a small house even if it's 3 rooms. This, I think will serve as investment that will keep appreciating and also serve as residence.

Or just open a domiciliary account to hedge against naira fall and continue saving.
What do you think please?

Build a rental apartment. E,g 2 apartments of 2 bedroom flat or 3 apartments of 1 bed apartment.
