post=56353123:Rochas useless? Are you out of your mind? A governor that has built 12 class room block in all the 305 wards of the state there by making Imo state public school system infrastructure the best in South East. He has sustained free education in Imo state for the past six years. Students of IMSU pay only but #20000 per year while your ANSU charges over #120000 a year but you chose to call Rochas useless instead of giving that title to your paymaster. The governor you branded slow poke has built world class general hospitals for all the 27 local government areas of the state making IMO state health sector about the best in Nigeria. He has transformed Owerri from a dull state capital to a destination of choice for tourists and fun seekers. He started and finished a world class university in Ideato making IMO state one of the few States to have two state universities. While your governor is still signing an MOU for a cargo airport Okorocha has transformed the IMO state airport to the busiest domestic airport in Nigeria. It will become a cargo airport by June this year through the ingenuity of the man you used your dirty fingers to type and describe as useless. I know you are paid handsomely by your drunken master of a governor to defend him but you have to mind your choice of words while doing your dirty Job. 1 Like |

AWKA —IMO State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has boasted that nothing would stop the All Progressives Congress, APC, from taking over Anambra State in the November 18, 2017 governorship poll, urging the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano to start writing his handover note to an APC governor. Okorocha, who spoke through Dr. Simon Nwulu while inaugurating the Rochas Peoples Movement, RPM, in Anambra State, said the main objective of the movement was to register grassroots presence in every nook and cranny of the state. He said: “The Igbo can no longer belong to regional political parties. We must belong to the mainstream. APC is that place to belong. “Anambra is critical in Igbo politics. So we shall all come down here to deliver the state to the ruling All Progressives Congress. We have the capacity; we have the capability. “APC is the structure for the emancipation of the Igbo nation and no man born of a woman can stop us from taking over Anambra State after the November 18 election. “At any polling unit during the election, at least 63 members of Rochas Peoples Movement will be present to man the units and protect our votes. That will be the magic. “We shall bring the Imo formula here and by the time we had finished, Obiano and APGA would just pack and go.” He asked the members of the movement to have their voters’ cards handy, saying that would be a major criterion for confirmation of appointments in the next APC government in Anambra State. He also asked ward coordinators of the movement to mobilize APC members to register in the ongoing voter registration exercise for the purpose of the November18 election The Anambra State coordinator of the movement, Chief Olisa Onyeka, thanked Okorocha for coming over to help, saying “You have demonstrated the brother’s keeper spirit with which the Igbo are known for.”

In a committed effort to retool local capacity for global competitiveness, Zinox Technologies Group has concluded arrangements to sponsor the Chris Uwaje, the the Oracle of the Nigeria IT industry to speak at the 2017 Global Internet of Things, in Geneva, Switzerland. The former President of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria, ISPON, and the Africa Chair on Communications and Publicity GioT Geneva 2017- will be speaking as a panelist on Africa perspectives and challenges on Ipv6. Uwaje is selected and invited to represent Africa and speak as a panelist of the Global IPv6 Forum on the state and challenges of Internet Version 6 (Ipv6) at the 1st Global Internet of Things Summit, GioTS in Geneva, Switzerland 2017). With this sponsorship, ZINOX assumes fundamental ledership of national ICT Policy and strategy matters, where government should at all time be at the forefront. Given the future requirements of 70% youths that makeup Nigeria/Africa Population, Zinox is lighting up the way to the sustainable progress of the Nigerian nation. According to Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Africa stands to gain immensely if she can leapfrog from her present deep slumber on ICT ecosystem development and engage the values of (IoTs) whose estimated market potential is valued at $19 trillion USD by 2020. Zinox projections is that the world has just at the embryonic stage and process of the global digital transformation and beliefs that no other startegy is capable of securing the economic empowerment, massive Youth employment, future development progress and national security of Nigeria and Africa. Today, “IoT is rapidly evolving with the substantial risk of not paying attention to safety, reliability, privacy, security, and interoperability. Research has a fundamental role to enable a globally interoperable IoT and to make it right,” Sebastien Ziegler, General Chair and President of the IoT forum, said. According to Latif Ladid, Co-Chair and President of IPv6 Forum “GIoTS 2017 will attract experts from industry and research in current and emerging technologies such as 5G-based IoT, software defined IoT, IoT-centric Cloud Computing, including the Social Internet of Things” For Dr. Antonio Skarmeta, TPC Chair, “The selected technical topics seek some maturity in IoT across the board. There are many facets that need research and experimental pilots to put the pieces together and give IoT innovation a roadmap”. GIoTS 2017 is supported by the IoT Week of the IoT Forum, The IPv6 Forum, the IEEE 5G subcommittee, the IEEE SDN-NFV subcommittee as well as the IEEE BiG Data TC. It will be collocated in Geneva with the IoT Week 2017, bringing together cutting edge research results, the IoT innovation community and the UN system with a unique worldwide outreach. According to the United Nations Development’s Programme (UNDP) Human Development Report of 2013 (UNDP, 2013), Africa contributes 35 of the 45 poorest countries. Given these high poverty levels, most African governments , especially the Sub-Saharan Africa are still struggling to provide basic needs such as food, shelter, health, water and sanitation and education among others and therefore technology innovations take a back seat. While the world’s Development Index stands at 0.694, the Sub-Saharan Africa’s one is at 0.475. The IPv6 session will attract speakers from the 5 Continents to outline the deployment efforts of IPv6-based IoT research and best practices. The deployment in different countries is taking different shapes and forms considering the differing continental user requirements at this stage of deployment. This session will try to harmonize and draw a common roadmap for deployment of IoT networking capabilities and architectural definitions to make sure “Internet of Things” are scalable, inclusive of several communication media, secure, future proof and viable for businesses and endusers. Each representative is challenged to research his/her continent to outline the various IoT initiatives and industry showcases and various user requirements, challenges, security and privacy issues and obstacles that could enrich the discussion in this worldwide IoT session. |

Buhari might be too frail for their re-election campaigns By Omeiza Ajayi, Abuja Governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, have commenced moves to take over the leadership of the ruling party on the claim that they cannot depend on President Muhammadu Buhari for re-election or to position loyal successors in the 2019 round of elections. The governors, Saturday Vanguard gathered, are focusing on not just their states, but also the zonal and national leadership of the party. It was in furtherance of the move that the governors have now commenced a monthly meeting of themselves and the National Working Committee, NWC during which party policies and programmes are rehearsed. The move of the governors follows concerns among them that Buhari on whose coattails majority of them rode to office may be too infirm or may have lost his popularity to help them in The governors, under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum,PGF, had a meeting with the NWC on April 26 following which Governor, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State told newsmen that there was no cause for alarm over the president’s health. However, Saturday Vanguard gathered that “one of the North-West governors had expressed concerns about the President’s health,” a top-level party source who was privy to the meeting said. “He (the governor) reminded his colleagues that with the exception of perhaps Imo, Plateau, Lagos, Benue and one other state, all the other APC governors rode on the back of the president to clinch their current positions. He said since the president would have to take care of his health, it will now be an On Your Own situation for them”, said the source. He said as a fall-out of that meeting, the governors resolved to effectively take over party financing, with a condition that the party’s leadership cedes more influence to them in terms of party processes and decisions. “By implication, the governors are moving to seize the political reins of the party, since the president has failed or is unable to provide leadership for the Party at the national level,” he added. Even before the president fell ill, there had been concern over the distance he put between himself and the party leadership who were not consulted on government policies and programmes. Even more, the usual kind of support provided by a ruling party was not forthcoming to the extent that the funding of the APC national secretariat became a major problem for the NWC. Another sore point was the president’s failure to attend meetings of the party a development that has resulted in the APC not holding a National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting for more than one year. Another source at the meeting, also quoting a governor at the meeting, said: “Apart from, Benue and Plateau states, all other northern governors won their elections because of the goodwill of President Muhammadu Buhari and his mass appeal as at then. In 2019, things could be very different for those of us seeking re-election or planning to bring in successors we are comfortable with. “With the situation of things (health of the president and poor approval rating), how can we be sure that Mr. President will be able to campaign for us? If we do not take over the reins of the party now and make it very viable, we will be swimming in troubled waters by 2019.” Saturday Vanguard recalls that El-Rufai had confirmed the resolve of the governors to strengthen the party by funding it and also deciding on when and how its mid-term non-elective convention should hold. In order to maintain a more dominant grip on the party, the governors had also resolved to make the meeting with the NWC, monthly. On some of the issues raised during the meeting, El-Rufai had said: “The most important decision is that henceforth we will hold a meeting here at the National Secretariat once every month. This is with a view to increasing interaction, fostering relation between the national and state branches of the party as well as work towards strengthening the party. We also took certain resolutions and the first is that the Progressive Governors have committed to work assiduously at strengthening and rebuilding the party and ensuring reconciliation and unification of the party at all levels. “We have committed to providing the NWC all the support that if needs. We will also engage in fund raising from our donors, sympathizers of the APC to ensure that the national headquarters of the party and indeed all organs of the party have the wherewithal to continue with the difficult work they have been doing within the party. “The joint meeting between the NWC and the governors also resolved that at our next meeting, we are going to look at the arrangements for the mid-term convention and put in place the resources necessary to ensure that the convention holds as required by our party.” The move by the APC governors to provide logistics direly needed by the party would, in turn, give them the leeway to dictate policy and programmes that would put them in the ascendancy ahead of the 2019 elections. |

“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” Benjamin Franklin It was the reggae maestro, Peter Tosh, who once sang that everybody is crying out for peace, but none is crying out for justice. Herein lies the Nigerian malady- pretences to peace without an iota or sense of justice. Never in the history of Nigeria has the country drifted apart along ethno-religious sentiments fanned by clear manifestations of nepotism and sectionalism in the running of government business. At the worst receiving end are the people of the South East. The result is that although Biafra agitation has been there since the current democratic dispensation, never have the groups- the Independent People of Biafra (IPOD), Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Biafra Independent Movement (IBM), and Niger Delta militants been so popular among the people as they are today. Although government is quick to profile these groups as enemies of Nigerian unity, we know that the real enemies of our unity are those who, by their brash actions, fan the embers of alienation, disenchantment, frustration, disconnection, and loss of faith in the Nigerian project. They are the people, who swiftly arrested, paraded, and arraigned the people of Ile-Ife and their traditional rulers, but would on the other hand drop charges against the suspected killers of harmless Agbahime in Kano. They are the people who are very quick to detain and arraign indigenes who challenge marauding herdsmen who destroy their farmlands, maim their brothers, rape their wives and sisters, and kill at the slightest or no provocation, but never been able to tame the herdsmen and their orgies of bloodshed and plundering. They are those who violate the legal valves like the Federal Character Principle enunciated by Section 14 of the 1999 Constitution that should keep Nigerian unity when it does not serve their interest and invoke it when it does. They are those who would invoke the principle to offer admission into the so-called Unity Schools to a male candidate from a part of the country who scored just 2 marks out of 200 and deny his counterpart from another part who scored 120 marks, but turn blind eyes to it in the distribution of political and federal appointments. They are those who outrage the nation by recruiting, in one fell swoop, 51 persons from Katsina State, 25 from Kano, and 24 from Kaduna, into the Department of State Security (DSS) whereas southern states, such as Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Ondo, and Abia got 8, 7, 5, 7, 9, and 7, respectively. Ironically, Katsina came 33rd in the 2016 West African Examination Council (WAEC) Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination. Those who destroy our unity are those who not only masterminded the unwarranted removal of the Director-General of National Pension Commission, PENCOM, Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu (South East) from office but also try to replace her with Alhaji Aliyu Dikko from Kaduna State in North West in clear breach of the constitution. Section 21(2) of Pension Reform Act 2014 clearly states that “In the event of a vacancy, the President shall appoint a replacement from the geo-political zone of the immediate past member that vacated office to complete the remaining tenure.” Mohammad K. Ahmad, Mrs. Chinelo’s predecessor, was appointed by Olusegun Obasanjo, a southerner, was untouched during Musa Yar’Adua’s short spell and retained by Goodluck Jonathan, another southerner. This is essentially because PENCOM is a statutory and special agency that needs stability to build and sustain confidence of stakeholders as well as jealously guard the pension funds. Talking about pension funds, the Anohu-Amazu leadership grew the pension funds from N2.9 trillion to more than N6.5 in a little less than three years. In fact, she served on the Presidential Committee that reformed the pension industry and produced the Pension Reform Bill, which translated to the Pension Reform Act 2004. She was the pioneer Commission Secretary and Legal Adviser. In other words, she has been part of the new-look of the pension industry from scratch. Her knowledge, experience, and competence in the industry showed in the transformations, innovations, strict regulations, and international buy-ins, which she brought to bear on the industry. Her performance was so convincing that even the hard-to-please labour (Trade Union Congress) appreciated her with the “Excellent, Visionary, and Emphatic Leader Award” just last year, while she also bagged the Sun Newspaper Pubic Service Award, 2015. In fact, media reports show that the presidency, in her removal letter, acknowledged that she performed. Unfortunately, all she gets for her 16 years of hard work and sacrifice in building the Nigerian pension industry is unceremonious removal for reasons that are everything, but patriotic. Worst of all, they desecrated and disregarded the clear provisions of Section 21(2) of the Pension Reform Act by appointing Aliyu Dikko from Kaduna, thereby unabashedly robbing the South East to pay North West. Ironically, while she was denied even a tenure, the cabal in the presidency has, for the second time, extended the tenure of the embattled Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Jamila Shu’ara, to 2018 contrary to civil service rule and despite the House of Representatives stand that she refunds all the emoluments received in the controversial first extension, which Members declared as illegal. Excerpts of the extension letter dated 29th March 2017 reads: “This is to inform you that His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, in line with the provisions of Section 171 (2) (d) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, vide letter reference No. SH/COS/100/A/1541, extended your retirement period by one (1) year with effect from February 17, 2017. “Consequent upon this, your emoluments and other conditions of service will remain sustained up to 16th February 2018 in a special dispensation, which should not be cited as policy”. According to Ellie Wiesel, Romanian-born American Jewish writer, political activist, professor, Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor, “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest”. Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka condemned the excesses of herdsmen and government’s worrisome silence and kid gloves towards them when they invaded his compound. 2 Likes 1 Share

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday said he had forgiven Igbo leaders and politicians, who persecuted him for joining the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor said his decision had been vindicated by the number of Igbo leaders who have joined the party today. Okorocha spoke when senior priests of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, led by the Prelate, Dr. Samuel Kanu Uche, visited him at the Government House in Owerri. He said: “I have forgiven politicians in Imo State and the Southeast, who branded me Boko Haram because I was part of the merger that gave birth to APC. “The persecution and name calling got worse during campaigns for the 2015 elections, when I was labelled an Alhaji in Government House, and accused of working with Muhammadu Buhari to Islamise the Igbo. “Even the Chapel I built inside the Government House was branded a Mosque because my opponents did all they could to incite the people against me but, the more they worked, the more Imo people appreciated me. “It gives me great joy today that most Igbo leaders are seeing what I saw that made me join the merger that metamorphosed into APC.” Dr. Uche told Okorocha they were in the state for a two-day apostolic visit to the churches, saying he was happy with the governor’s visionary leadership. The prelate reminded the governor that those who like to share money won’t appreciate what he is doing but the less-privileged, who benefit from his projects and policies, would appreciate him. He urged Okorocha to remain focused and not be distracted. http://thenationonlineng.net/okorocha-ive-forgiven-igbo-leaders-taunting-joining-apc/

According to them, it has
gone a long way in
alleviating the sufferings of
indigent families who could
not afford to pay tuition
for their children in school. The students made this
appeal at the Imo Trade
and Investment Centre in
Owerri, the state capital,
during the re-validation
and identification exercise organised by the state
government, to ascertain
the number of Imo
indigenes benefitting from
the state free education
policy as well as ensure that the beneficiaries are
of Imo extraction. Since the inception of the
Okorocha-led administration
in 2011, education from
primary to secondary has
been made free for
students in state owned schools. In 2013, the state
government also extended
the free education to state
owned tertiary institutions
and testimonies from
beneficiaries have highlighted its importance. However, few weeks ago,
the state government
directed students in all the
state owned tertiary
institutions to obtain a
form aimed at re-validating and identifying all the
students enjoying the free
education. The students who are
mainly from Imo State
University, Imo State
Polytechnic, Imo State
College of Education, and
the Imo State School of Nursing, have appealed to
the government not to put
an end to the free
education policy, maintaining
that the importance of the
free education to families cannot be overemphasized. A microbiology student
Precious Eze, giving her
opinion said: “Since I got
admission to Imo State
University (IMSU), I haven’t
paid a dime as school fees, the Governor is really
trying for us, please he
shouldn’t stop this free
education because if he
does, it will affect us a lot,
especially some of us whose parents have meager
means of income” Another 400 level economics
student from IMSU, Emeka
Duru, said: ” My parents
won’t find it funny if the
free education ends now, I
have enjoyed it it since I entered school since my
100 level now am in 400
level, how will I cope. “I really want to commend
the governor for this free
education and urge him not
to stop it, and I think this
re-validation form is a
welcome development”. Meanwhile, the state
government has allayed the
fears of the students,
assuring them of the
continuity of the free
education. He maintained that it has
come to stay and that the
re-validation exercise is
mainly to build a data base
and ascertain the originality
of students benefiting from the programme. Having seen the
authenticity in the free
education policy of the Imo
state government,
hopefully, subsequent
governments will concretise |

betterABIAstate:Shatap! Bride price in Abia State is far bigger than that of IMO State. My cousin married from Umuahia last August and the list they gave us both for the men and women was not less than #1.2m. The other cousin of mine married an Ngwa woman last Nov. theirs was the worst the items in list did not cost us less than #1.5m. I stayed in Arochukwu in 2014 and witnessed some traditional marriage ceremonies it was not an exception from the rest. Here in my own part of IMO State (IDEATO) marriage ceremony does not cost more than #150000 sincerely speaking. We do not charge any other thing but some few crates of beer, malt and palm wine. Our dowry is arguably the cheapest in Igboland. You guys should stop all these unnecessary media attack on anything IMO STATE. We no longer find it funny. 1 Like |

AfDB TO EMPOWER 1000 IMO YOUTHS WITH $300MILLION. By Charles Ogugbuaja, Owerri | 31 January 2017 | 3:12 am African Development Headquarter, Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The African Development Bank (AfDB) in partnership with the Federal Government and the Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan (IITA), has concluded plans to train and empower over 1,000 Imo State young graduates on agriculture. The training would be executed under the ‘Enable Youths Programme’ of the Bank.A Director in the bank, Dr. Chiji Ojukwu, said the bank’s authorities have provided a whopping sum of over $300 million for the project. Ojukwu, who was accompanied by some officials of the bank and IITA on a courtesy call on Governor Rochas Okorocha at Government House, Owerri at the weekend, said two institutions in the state selected as Incubation and Training centres of the selected youths from 27 Local Councils are the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede and Imo Polytechnic, Umuagwo, adding that initial 25 youths in what he called, ‘Pilot session’ would be trained at the centres, after which they train other 1,000. According to him, the project incorporated in the Federal Government’s Agric Business Grant Scheme, has been designed to enhance food security and reduce unemployment among the youths in Africa. His words: ‘’We are trying to promote youths to come into Agric business, the whole of Africa. So the AfDB, working with IITA, Ibadan, decided to set up an ‘Enable Youths Programme where we are trying to support young people to go into Agric business. Here in Nigeria, we provided some resources to the Federal Government to support them in every state, to empower about 1,000 youths so that most of them can be trained in incubation centres.” Ojukwu said at the end of the training session, takeoff resources would be given to the trainees from the over $300 million earmarked. The IITA, he disclosed, has had the designed 2012 programme implemented in 21 countries, noting that the institute had proved capability of building capacity of the young ones and create value chain. Speaking, Okorocha said quick steps should be taken in tackling the unemployment challenges among the youths, urging that farm implements, including fertilizers be provided for the selected youths. The governor regretted that the mindset of the people, especially the young ones, was the bane of the nation, noting that there was poverty of the mind and not the nation.[url]AfDB TO EMPOWER 1000 IMO YOUTHS WITH $300BILLION. The governor regretted that the mindset of the people, especially the young ones, was the bane of the nation, noting that there was poverty of the mind and not the nation.

obiremy:I hope those frustrated PDP members will not come and say he is doing it for his '2019 PRESIDENTIAL AMBITION' because they're experts in giving negative interpretation to every good thing that Okorocha does. |

warriorPedigree:Aham bu Tochukwu. Abum onye Ideato. Rochas is a strongwilled man nobody can control him. He is just pretending to be loyal to get what he wants. He is a true Igboman both flesh and blood but just a smart politician that knows how to get what he wants. For Ndigbo to make any headway politically (be it true federalism or self determination) we need to control the presidency. And for us to get to the presidency we need to form an alliance with other regions of the country for we do not have the numerical strength to vote in a president singlehandedly like the northerners. That is exactly what Okorocha is doing by being a bridge builder. But some of you're too daft to understand his game plan. And some that understood it, out of sheer hate and envy have decided to throw spanner into the project. That's why Imo State PDP keeps painting him black and give bad interpretation to any of his policies and actions to give the perception to Nigerians that he is a failure while in contrary he is the best governor that we've had in Imo State since 1999. 1 Like |

warriorPedigree:You're the bastard here, shut your smelly mouth up! If you can call Rochas bastard without evidence just because you listened to radio biafra how sure are you then that you are not a bastard or were you the one that pointed the torch for the man that you call your father when he was impregnating your mother to give birth to you. Some people are just known for stupidity calling a man that is a proud son of his father bastard without proof. Who did Rochas betray that made him a traitor? Or is it just because he had a different political aspiration to an Ijaw man? Fools! Other ethnic groups are busy scheming for the top job by all means but some stupid igbos like you're only interested in pulling down our brightest chance of getting a shut at the presidency. Errant nonesense! You can go vote for Atiku if you want tomorrow when he starts showing you his through colour you will shout maginalization. Nwa Mkpi! 1 Like |

forgiveness:You will be much more amazed when you visit Ideato-along Umuchima, Obiohia, Ogboko axes. The level of transformation going on over here is awsome. The Eastern Palm University is 90% complete- upon completion it will be the best university structure in Nigeria. There are two five star hotels one in Obiohia, one in Ogboko. An utra-modern general hospital in Umuchima. A Police College at Ntueke. Dualization of Orlu -Ideato road and many more. All of these projects were initiated by Rochas and they're at the virge of completion coupled with the existing prestigious Rochas Foundation College Ogboko now relocated to Obiohia to make space for the University. I will take pictures of these structures when next I pass across Obiohia. I still don't know why most people here in Nairaland hate Rochas with that passion the man has realy tried. |

Needless deaths, Umuchima gets first hospital ON January 21, 2017 1:10 AM / IN News/ Comments •As FG hails Mbisiogu for gesture BY CHARLES KUMOLU “I had a younger brother, who died in infancy in 1974 because he was ill. My brother would have survived the illness but the limitations our community had, ended his life that would have been a blessing to our community. Before my mother could take her son to Urualla where there was an existing health centre, the child died. My brother died because we lacked hospital in this community. That story made me make a vow that should God bless me, I will help people of this community and possibly stop some deaths as a result of the absence of healthcare facilities.’’ The above, were the words of the Managing Director of Blue Diamond Logistics, Chief Festus Mbisiogu, at the commissioning of an ultra- modern hospital in Umuchima in Ideato South Local Government Area, LGA, of Imo State. It was an event that triggered excitement among residents and indigenes of the community, given that the facility which was built and equipped by Mbisiogu was the first hospital in the ancient community. Most, who gathered at the event, were elated that the gesture would reduce mortality rate in the community that had suffered much as a result of the absence of medical facilities and other basic amenities. On hand, to commission the hospital was the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Alhassan, who was the special guest of honour. Mbisiogu commisioning the hospital She described the gesture as germane to national and global efforts at reducing infant and maternal mortality. Hence, she urged other wealthy Nigerians to emulate the humanitarian effort as a way of showing love to their respective communities. Alahassan also described the development as being in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to the provision of adequate healthcare, noting that the Federal Government would work with people like Mbisiougu, who shared its vision. Also thrilled by the development, Imo State governor, Mr. Rochas Okorocha, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Women Affairs and Social Development, Ngozi Njoku, lauded Mbisiogu for embarking on such philantropism without asking the government for support. Apart from the hospital, the elaborate event also witnessed the commissioning of 42 pipe-borne water boreholes built and donated to various communities in Ideato by Mbisiogu. This gesture, Saturday Vanguard learnt, ensured that the people in the entire communities in the LGA stopped trekking five kilometres to fetch water from Orasi River, which was the source of water for the communities. Amid commendations from members of the community and celebration, Mbisiogu pledged to give One hundred thousand each to the first set of babies to be born in the hospital, noting that he would continue to provide support for the smooth functioning of the hospital. He was, however, appreciative of Umuchima Women Organisation, UWO, for providing moral support to the project. The group in its acknowledgment described the development as timely, and a blessing to the LGA. President-General of UWO, Dr. B. Ubaonu, said: “For over 10 years, Mbisiogu has been sharing over 200 bags of rice to indigent people every Sunday before Christmas. He also paid school fees for many in the community. He is a blessing to this community.”
