Career / Re: The Nigerian Engineer And The Oil/Gas Career Mentality by casiraghi: 11:33am On Oct 24, 2014
I think what we need as a nation to develop those sectors of Engineering is mainly investment, once the investors come into the country, Nigerian will be made to taking up key positions in those firms with time they will develop competence in those sectors and will move from those companies to setup their own similar firms, there is no need to re-event the wheel.

On the part of youths we need to take education more serious and develop a technological culture and reduce our appetite for foreign made goods

I think the government is on the right direction with the policy on cement, auto manufacturing more sectors need policies like that, we also need to give very attractive incentive to major manufacturing giants to come and setup of industries and R and D centers,The government should also take the issue of funding for education very seriously.

China and India are shinning example mainly because of huge investment from the US, Europe and other developed counties.

A paper authored by a team from the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, has been adjudged the best presentation at the 8th International Conference for Internet Technology and Secured Transactions (ICITST-2013) held in London, United Kingdom, in December 2013.

A lot of uplifting remarks from the international faculty went in favour of the ambassadors of FUTA who presented the award-winning paper.
Alese, who is the current Dean of Students Affairs, said the general consensus at the conference was that FUTA showed great strength in global competitiveness through excellence in technological advancement, learning and research.

“How the winners will contribute to local economy is the next challenge. In this conference, we have the future of the country. We have the capacity. We can drive knowledge economy with right policies. The students in the software competition here are entrepreneurs of the future. Your destiny lies in your hands” he said.

Education / Re: Nigeria To Create Six ‘mega Universities’ by casiraghi: 11:51am On Apr 26, 2013
This simple means those universities will have a student population of between 150 to 200 thousand just like some south American universities,This will only worsen the situation of the labour market imagine OAU and 5 others producing about 50 thousand graduates every year, 300,000 graduate from just 6 universities.

The quality of graduates from those school become worst given the Nigerian factor

This looks like a setup, how come the FG is always quick to intercept terrorist activists in Lagos, just may be the FG wants to draw the SW to the war on terror, the SW has been on the fence for too long, FG needs the support of the SW to win this war on terror.

The North wants power back by all means and their only obstacle is the SE/SS who are is power

Education / UNILAG Remains Moshood Abiola University by casiraghi: 12:27pm On Feb 26, 2013
HE Federal Ministry of Education has denounced media reports that President Goodluck Jonathan had made a U-turn on the renaming the University of Lagos.

The newly appointed chairman of the governing council of the university, Professor Jerry Gana, was quoted to have said that President Jonathan had changed his mind about renaming the institution after the late Chief Moshood Abiola.

But the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr Olu Lipede, told the Nigerian Tribune that the ministry was yet to receive any categorical statement from the Federal Government on such a decision.

He noted that the position of the government about the name change remained, adding, however, that there were pending issues at the court over the change of name.

He added also that there was a law establishing the university, adding that a bill was currently before the National Assemby on the name change.

“The reports that the government has made a U-turn on the renaming of UNILAG are untrue and misleading. What Professor Jerry Gana said was that the president was observing the rule of law by not forcing his decision to change the name of the university on the people, but followed the due process by allowing the court to decide the matter.

“The president has not issued any categorical statement on the matter and the ministry of education has not received any directive either; so, the directive of the president on the school remains the same,” the statement read.

Politics / Re: Panic In Presidency Over Mounting Tension In Military - Talk Of Mutiny? by casiraghi: 11:47am On Jan 31, 2013
If this report is true

Years of imbalance in the Nigerian army cannot be address by Appointing Igbos officers to top positions without lower rank troops to back them up, this would still not achieve this balance, rather it will only aggravate the lack of trust by other ethnic group for Igbos.
Politics / Re: Panic In Presidency Over Mounting Tension In Military - Talk Of Mutiny? by casiraghi: 11:21am On Jan 31, 2013
The reality is there are not enough Igbo soldiers in the Nigerian Army to protect those promoted Officers or even Ihejirika himself. Making someone GOC does not mean his own troops won't kill him when "yawa gas" those who have ears let them hear.

You are on point
