AIRDIG: Al jeezera-bomb blast in Iraq,50 killed in pakistan. Can you differentiate between suicide bombing and agitations for benefits from the resources that Atiku who this resources lie more than 1000km from his fathers compound want to control by inciting his Muslim brothers to start bombing Nigeria? If you like call it generalization or whatever,if Atiku made that statement in the context we are right in, in the West,he should have been invited to clarify himself because such statements is inciting.I cannot love those who kill in the name of God.If Muslims behave, then they will be my friends.Jesus did not say that I should befriend a terrorist. |

Atiku has a case to answer. When he was eloquently quoting JFK out of context, what was he or his press guys thinking of? Inciting Muslims whose religion already sanctions violence? |

In Ibo it is said that when a mother goat is chewing it cord, the daughter goat will be watching to imitate her.I wonder why Nigerians are so surprised at this various bomb blasts. Is it today that they have suddenly woken up to the fact that we have millions of Muslims in this country.Islam sanctions violence and religious war via Jihad.Tune to Al jeezera and you hear of daily suicide bombing in Afghanistan,Iraq and Pakistan by Muslims against fellow Muslims.I knew that it would come to this someday. But one thing I know and I am convinced of is that despite any act to cause consternation in this country, power is rotating from the north to the south. If it were a northern,he would have arrested Atiku for that treasonable statement he made recently and keep him behind bars till the elections is over. That statement alone is enough motivation for some religious fundamentalist to cause mayhem. Why are we not seeing bombings in the christian strongholds of southern Nigeria. Is it not a Muslim group that claimed responsibility which the Sultan described as faceless? |

Read books!I have read all the books written by all US president since the time of Reagan before becoming presidents.Read these books so that understand how they think and why US is so successful. It the government and the citizens that protect their economy. They don't leave it to the whims of business men.Ask me why they doled out over 12trillion in 2009 for bailout by different countries? When countries are thinking of protecting their economies and creating jobs you are here talking rubbish. The tax regime in Nigeria and Ghana, which is better? This is MTN apathy and hatred and ingratitude to Nigerians compounded by our crazy leadership. |

tkb417: Read some exceprts from a major Ghana news website below "The establishment of the office in Ghana provides enormous benefits not only to our business but to the country and we are excited to be hosting it," Ms Dumor said. She said the benefits include leveraging economies of scale in respect of supply of telecoms infrastructure across the region, which will have positive implications for the national agenda to make Ghana the gateway to West Africa. Ms Dumor said it would also create opportunities to apply Ghanaian knowledge, expertise and experience to other MTN operating units' technical and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Ghana has been recognized at the MTN Group level for execution excellence in Marketing and Social Responsibility. "Indeed the Ghana operating unit continues to support knowledge sharing in these key areas of the business," Ms Dumor said. If MTN locates it head office in Accra, surely the head office will be staffed by MTN workers who will comprise of expatriates and but the host country citizens will be given a quota according to their laws. Now this people have 30 million subscribers which is more than 50 percent of all the subscribers base in the 9 WECA countries. Is it fair to make all the money here and go and locate their office in a supposedly serene environment in far away Accra. With the apathy of Ghanaian toward Nigerians,do you think that Nigerians will have full opportunities to work there.Even if its only 1000 jobs that will be created do you know the implication on our economy. This is economic sabotage. Why is Dubai booming because it is a hub for the middle east.Do you know that many other companies can follow suit. How do you create jobs when all these companies are leaving? MTN Nigeria and SA are the pillars of MTN world wide. Moreover they said that Ghana has friendly business climate but the profits come from Nigeria. Think Nigerians think.Until they close some offices in Lagos and move the jobs to Accra,we will wake up in our usual manner.Yar'Adua has been sick since but we refuse to speak out until recent events. |

Nigerians are miss guided and are so daft.Pick up a copy of Audacity of Hope and read chapter 5.You will understand that the US is concerned about 1000 jobs call it low paying or otherwise that is outsourced to mainly Asian countries. One cardinal points with which Obama rose to become president was this issue of jobs and he talks about t everyday. If you know what MTN is worth you will undertand the implication of a office that will oversee 30million Nigerian subscribers located in Ghana. Read some exceprts from a major Ghana news website below[i] "The establishment of the office in Ghana provides enormous benefits not only to our business but to the country and we are excited to be hosting it," Ms Dumor said. Nigerians have to understand that the over N700 million MTN spends on energy is transferred directly to the subscribers. We contribute over 50 percent of subscribers in WA and about 25 of MTN subscribers base worldwide. It is MTN Nigeria and SA that are the pillars of the group. They recently sacked 65 workers and many more are to come when they become fully operational in their purported office in Accra. This economic sabotage. They make the money from Nigeria and over see it from Accra.Do you know how thousand above average corporate jobs that will be created to combat the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria. If the country host an unfriendly business climate they should pull out. |

"But I was lucky enough to be born in a time and place where society values my talent, and gave me a good education to develop that talent, set up the laws and the financial system to let me do what I love doing- and make me a lot of money doing it.The last I can do is help pay for all that" Warren Buffet in Obama's Audacity of Hope Yesterday news emanated that from Ghanaian sources that "The MTN Group has confirmed that the Head office of the West and Central Africa (WECA) region would to be located in Ghana, a statement in Accra said on Monday." The news report went on thus The WECA regional office comprises of nine operating units - Nigeria, Benin, Cote D'Ivoire Liberia, Cameroon, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Congo Brazzaville and Ghana. Ms. Mawuena Adjo Dumor, Corporate Service Executive of MTN Ghana, said Ghana was chosen because of its friendly business environment among other things. She said the WECA headquarters would be located at MTN Ghana's head office in Accra and would be the administrative hub of the nine countries that constituted the WECA region. Hitherto, the WECA regional office director, Mr. Christian De Faria, who is also Vice President of the region, did not have a stable office so had been moving from country to country to do his work, but he would now work from Ghana. "The establishment of the office in Ghana provides enormous benefits not only to our business but to the country and we are excited to be hosting it," Ms Dumor said. However, since stumbling on this gruesome news I decided to Google MTN a little to get to the root of of what I will term 'a national insult.'According to ICT Statistics Newslog website "The West and Central Africa (WECA) region increased its subscriber base by 5% for the quarter driven mainly by Nigeria which accounts for 58% of the region's subscribers. Nigeria recorded a 5% increase in its subscriber base to 28.76 million mainly due to continued network rollout, innovative product offerings and the effectiveness of the distribution channels implemented earlier in 2009. Ghana maintained its market share and increased its subscriber base by 2,6% despite aggressive competitor activity. Both Cameroon and Cote d'Ivoire increased their subscriber bases by 4% and 5% to 4.19 million and 4.21 million, respectively" So the only way of paying Nigerians for this monumental loyalty is to take off job opportunities away from the country. According to 234next.com,MTN sacked 65 workers recently and I will not be surprised if this jobs are meant to be offshore to Ghana to beef up the WECA head office in Accra. I will not be surprised if the call centers serving the close to 30 million Nigerian subscribers is located in this obscure WA countries. Instead of the ingrate MTN creating jobs in Nigeria they chose to engage in numerous dubious promos which common operation research tells me that it is the participants that contribute all that money that they give out to winners.MTN has also engaged in inconsequential corporate social responsibility when they are supposed to be making tangible contribution to the real sector of Nigerian economy by creating jobs out of the enormous profits they make from Nigeria. Is this the way to pay back to close to 30 million subscribers in Nigeria. We are complaining of unemployment and the little way in which a corporate entity wants to contribute to our development is by overseeing the huge profits it makes in Nigeria from Accra because of what it termed " friendly business environment among other things." If MTN does not enjoy friendly business market in Nigeria why don't they pull out as we have other viable options such as Glo,Zain and Etisalat. How will a company that contributes over 50 percent of its regional profits and a major driver of it global market place as an unfriendly business climate? Why not pull out of the Nigerian market entirely. We have other investors who will be able and willing to jump at an offer to come into the Nigerian Telecoms industry in grand style.
