Good morning people. For the SOWP & VV application, is the letter of introduction sent to only the spouse? Or is both the spouse & kids as well? My wife got hers already but nothing yet for our baby. |

Goldentony2nice: Thanks for the response. How long did it take? My wife collected their passports on Monday & they're yet to get the letters on their portal. |

For those who recently got SOWP visas, did IRCC send a POE letter in your portal? |

Owanhero123: To be fair, the amount isn't enough. You need to increase it by another 5-10k$. For a family of 3, you need at least $22k for living expenses for a year according to IRCC website. The global inflation + the worsening exchange rate isn't helping matters but what can one do? I experienced it first hand when my wife & kid applied for their visas. Exchange rate was about #340 to 1CAD. A couple of weeks later, it rose to over #500. The POF we submitted was effectively halved. We had to source for more money to increase it back again. 1 Like |

Hello guys. What's the process & documents needed for passport submission? |

Childofvictory8:He can even apply now. It doesn't matter. Technically, you're the one to apply, not him. |

MumDofontario: Your husband really got lucky with the emails especially since the application is still under the standard processing time of 17 weeks for an open work permit. I'm in the same boat. My wife & kid applied for SOWP & VV on the 1st of June. We're still waiting for a decision. I have a good mind of sending them emails but I'm thinking they may not attend to it since it's still under the processing time. But this has given me courage. Congratulations to you guys. |

XtraordinaryGen: Coming that early doesn't make any financial sense. I know you're excited and all but just save your money. Canada is freaking expensive. And since you're not allowed to work until you start your classes, there's no way you can make money here. But at the end of the day, the choice is yours. 4 Likes |

Hi everyone. Been a while. I recently submitted SOWP application for my wife & VV for our kid. But it's 5 days now and they're yet to get the biometric appointment letter. Does anyone have experience with this? Thank you. |

Hello house. I want to apply for SOWP for my wife & visit visa for our son. I've been trying to use the new IRCC website (which I used for my study permit) but I don't really know where to start. If someone can share the link to use & some important documents to include in the application, I'd be most grateful. Thank you. |

pufframmy: They didn't ask us questions. Probably because there were many students who arrived that day. They just printed out the study permits and handed them out. |

johnstan: Yea. They sent the LOI the next day after finalizing my application. Honestly, they didn't ask for the COVID card. But I just handed my passport with my own vaccine card together. It would just be best to have it to be on a safer side. 1 Like |

LANDING GIST PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE DATES PPR: Oct 21 Flight ticket purchased: Oct 27 to fly Dec 12 Passport submission: Oct 31 to VFS Lagos After submitting my passport, the long wait began. VFS sent a message on Nov 17 that my passport has been dispatched to the embassy. That is 17 days after submission with no explanation whatsoever. Nov 30, still no update from VFS though IRCC replied on the 28th that my passport was in queue for printing. At this point, I was not sure what to believe. I was feeling concerned and stressed out. I thought my passport was probably missing. That's a whole month without collection mail. Dec 5, yet no update. I contacted my pastor and he said we needed to fast and pray for three days starting from the 5th. We concluded the fasting on the 7th and he said I should not worry and that my passport would be sorted before the end of the week. Next day, Thursday Dec 8, I got a message from IRCC that my application has been finalized. I started getting messages from VFS. The last one was that my passport has been dispatched to my VAC. In anticipation of getting pickup mail from Lagos VFS, I went to their office the next day which was Friday. Got there late though so I wasn't attended to. Friday passed yet no pickup mail from Lagos VFS. Remember my flight is 12th (Monday). At this point, I decided to reschedule my flight since I hadn't gotten any pickup mail. Next day (Saturday), I went to Ethiopian Airlines to reschedule. They said they only had business class seats available through the year because all their flights had been fully booked. I inquired about the cost of rescheduling and the lady said over 500k. Omo I told her not to bother. Who has that kind of money? I decided to go to Lagos VFS on Monday for collection despite not getting any pickup mail. I just believed my passport was there. Dec 12, I went to VFS. Lo and behold, my passport was there. Lol. I collected it and drove straight to the airport. I made my flight and now I am in Canada. I am just grateful to God. Those of us expecting from Him, will not be disappointed. 33 Likes |

Lol I'll drop my landing gist later. It was a big testimony. Those expecting good news from IRCC won't be disappointed. Keep trusting God. 43 Likes 1 Share |

johnstan: According to the link below, it's not compulsory. It says if you don't have a printed copy of the port of entry letter, you can provide the electronic copy or your visa in your passport. Honestly, I don't want to reschedule because of this letter especially if it's not really required at border services. My concern is that I heard some airlines request for it. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=845 |

jilenwere: Don't worry brother. You'll get your stamped passport soon. I know the wait has been excruciatingly hard but it's almost here. A lot of us who have that issue have been getting pickup notifications lately. Infact I know of 2 persons who got their pickup mails from VFS today. So just relax. Matter don finish.. 1 Like |

johnstan: The bottom line is that contacting VFS won't be of any use. They'll either tell you the passport isn't ready or you should contact the embassy. @jilenwere your best bet is to write IRCC. VFS is still responsible for this in my opinion. They may have routed the passports to the wrong embassy & realised later on. There's a lot of mix-up. Especially for those who submitted late October - early November. They're the ones experiencing this delay. Write to Nairobi, Lagos & Abuja. You may include London, Accra & Shanghai but they're not necessary. One VFS agent told me last Wednesday when I went to their office, that the passports are stamped in Kenya. So you may want to focus on Nairobi. All the best. |

Lixusheng: There's no point calling VFS. They won't be of much help. The best option is to keep mailing IRCC. Especially their Abuja, Lagos & Nairobi offices. |

Those of us who have submitted our passports for a while and yet to get any pick-up notification from VFS have a serious issue on our hands. Especially if you got that mail on 17th of November about it being dispatched to the visa office. We have students who have submitted their passports for 6-7 weeks and counting yet no feedback whatsoever. I think we should form a united front and approach VFS Lagos office for clarification. Those passports could literally be anywhere. Some of us have booked flights & we're just so confused as to what to do. Personally I mailed IRCC. I included all their offices from Abuja to Nairobi to Accra to London to Shanghai. It was only Nairobi that responded. They said my passport is in queue for printing! Printing bawo? Are they issuing new ones? It's complete chaos. I've repeatedly asked VFS why it took them 17 days to forward my passport to the embassy - I submitted on 31st of October. They have never answered that question. They just disable the chat and switch off. Once more, those passports could be anywhere. Let it not be like the case of one guy that submitted his passport & after four months that he didn't get it back, he started complaining. And I'm not sure he has it till now. Let's act fast! 2 Likes |

On a lighter note, as Canada don japa from World Cup, make dem no transfer their aggression on us oh! Make dem grant all of us study visa. If you're yet to submit your application, I'll advise you chill first. Make the anger clear small from their body. Lol 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Bollytun: There's nothing much she can do except to be patient. A lot of people who submitted their passports to the Lagos office during the height of the terror threat (especially last week of October and first week in November) are yet to get their passports back. Besides the communication from VFS Lagos haven't been helpful. They probably stashed all these passports in their Lagos office till they got the go-ahead from Abuja to send them over. That's a theory anyway. Now there's a lot of passports to deal with, hence the delay. Just be patient. |

AOlalere: When did she collect her passport? I hear it takes up to 48 hours to reflect sometimes. Just be patient. This is weekend, much won't happen anyway. By Monday or Tuesday, it will reflect, hopefully. I've also read on a particular forum (not Nairaland) that if you don't have the letter, they can pull it up from their system over there. |

Isyma: I recommend Abuja. Abuja is now issuing counterfoils. So there's no point submitting to VFS Lagos since they'll still submit to their Abuja office anyway before dispatching to the embassy. |
