Good morning people.

For the SOWP & VV application, is the letter of introduction sent to only the spouse? Or is both the spouse & kids as well?

My wife got hers already but nothing yet for our baby.

Yes. Letter of Introduction was sent on the portal. To be presented to the immigration officer at point of entry.

Thanks for the response. How long did it take? My wife collected their passports on Monday & they're yet to get the letters on their portal.

For those who recently got SOWP visas, did IRCC send a POE letter in your portal?

Good day my people. I’m already here in Canada, my wife applied SOWP and also VV for our son of 2 years old. My wife is working and on her statement of account she show’s balance of 3M, and also I dropped my own naira account with balance of 6M and also 1,065 usd as proof of funds.

Please is she good to go with the shown amount. Which in total ( $16,500) as at submission date.

To be fair, the amount isn't enough. You need to increase it by another 5-10k$. For a family of 3, you need at least $22k for living expenses for a year according to IRCC website.

The global inflation + the worsening exchange rate isn't helping matters but what can one do?

I experienced it first hand when my wife & kid applied for their visas. Exchange rate was about #340 to 1CAD. A couple of weeks later, it rose to over #500. The POF we submitted was effectively halved. We had to source for more money to increase it back again.

Hello guys. What's the process & documents needed for passport submission?

Gurus, please as my husband has gotten his PPR, can He apply for his dependants once his passport is stamped or does he have to land first.
Please I need answers. Thank you🙏🏻

He can even apply now. It doesn't matter. Technically, you're the one to apply, not him.

My husband's pay stubs and employment contract. No need to be worried, please. Just keep praying and hoping for the best. Meanwhile, hubby was sending mails to them back to back.

Your husband really got lucky with the emails especially since the application is still under the standard processing time of 17 weeks for an open work permit. I'm in the same boat. My wife & kid applied for SOWP & VV on the 1st of June. We're still waiting for a decision.

I have a good mind of sending them emails but I'm thinking they may not attend to it since it's still under the processing time. But this has given me courage. Congratulations to you guys.

I stumbled into NBCC facebook group... And I'm seeing people whose classes are to start in September saying they're entering Canada this June.

I've also seen someone for Centennial College on this NL Forum whose classes is starting September, saying he is travelling in 2weeks time.

I no longer understand.

Please oooo... Can I enter Canada two to three months ahead and start working?
Cos no be only una Naija don taya... Me sef too, Naija don taya me😩😩😩

Coming that early doesn't make any financial sense. I know you're excited and all but just save your money. Canada is freaking expensive. And since you're not allowed to work until you start your classes, there's no way you can make money here. But at the end of the day, the choice is yours.

Hi everyone.
Been a while. I recently submitted SOWP application for my wife & VV for our kid. But it's 5 days now and they're yet to get the biometric appointment letter. Does anyone have experience with this?

Thank you.

Hello house. I want to apply for SOWP for my wife & visit visa for our son. I've been trying to use the new IRCC website (which I used for my study permit) but I don't really know where to start. If someone can share the link to use & some important documents to include in the application, I'd be most grateful.

Thank you.

They didn't ask us questions. Probably because there were many students who arrived that day. They just printed out the study permits and handed them out.

Were you later sent your LOI as expected and was covid vaccine card requested for by Nigerian immigration.

Yea. They sent the LOI the next day after finalizing my application. Honestly, they didn't ask for the COVID card. But I just handed my passport with my own vaccine card together. It would just be best to have it to be on a safer side.

LANDING GIST

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE DATES

PPR: Oct 21
Flight ticket purchased: Oct 27 to fly Dec 12
Passport submission: Oct 31 to VFS Lagos

After submitting my passport, the long wait began. VFS sent a message on Nov 17 that my passport has been dispatched to the embassy. That is 17 days after submission with no explanation whatsoever. Nov 30, still no update from VFS though IRCC replied on the 28th that my passport was in queue for printing. At this point, I was not sure what to believe. I was feeling concerned and stressed out. I thought my passport was probably missing. That's a whole month without collection mail.

Dec 5, yet no update. I contacted my pastor and he said we needed to fast and pray for three days starting from the 5th. We concluded the fasting on the 7th and he said I should not worry and that my passport would be sorted before the end of the week.

Next day, Thursday Dec 8, I got a message from IRCC that my application has been finalized. I started getting messages from VFS. The last one was that my passport has been dispatched to my VAC. In anticipation of getting pickup mail from Lagos VFS, I went to their office the next day which was Friday. Got there late though so I wasn't attended to.

Friday passed yet no pickup mail from Lagos VFS. Remember my flight is 12th (Monday). At this point, I decided to reschedule my flight since I hadn't gotten any pickup mail. Next day (Saturday), I went to Ethiopian Airlines to reschedule. They said they only had business class seats available through the year because all their flights had been fully booked. I inquired about the cost of rescheduling and the lady said over 500k. Omo I told her not to bother. Who has that kind of money?

I decided to go to Lagos VFS on Monday for collection despite not getting any pickup mail. I just believed my passport was there.

Dec 12, I went to VFS. Lo and behold, my passport was there. Lol. I collected it and drove straight to the airport. I made my flight and now I am in Canada.

I am just grateful to God. Those of us expecting from Him, will not be disappointed.

I'll drop my landing gist later. It was a big testimony.

Those expecting good news from IRCC won't be disappointed. Keep trusting God.

Yea it is at the Canadian immigration once you arrive.
Sent a couple of Webforms to IRCC when mine didn't drop for over 2 weeks since my ppr and they sent it.

According to the link below, it's not compulsory. It says if you don't have a printed copy of the port of entry letter, you can provide the electronic copy or your visa in your passport.

Honestly, I don't want to reschedule because of this letter especially if it's not really required at border services. My concern is that I heard some airlines request for it.

Don't worry brother. You'll get your stamped passport soon. I know the wait has been excruciatingly hard but it's almost here. A lot of us who have that issue have been getting pickup notifications lately. Infact I know of 2 persons who got their pickup mails from VFS today. So just relax.

My take on this,
No one here would know for sure the reason for the one month Delay except VFS themselves. The email correspondence you got came with a tracking ID, VFS live chat resumes 9am Mon - Fri, have your tracking ID handy, initiate a chat (it might take a few minutes to get routed to an agent but the earlier you initiate the chat the faster), ask for feedback regarding your ppt retrieval, paste your tracking ID on the chat and wait for the agents feedback.
The feedback might be generic but probe further to be given a timeline, have a life interaction with them and you will be glad you did.

Good luck.

The bottom line is that contacting VFS won't be of any use. They'll either tell you the passport isn't ready or you should contact the embassy. @jilenwere your best bet is to write IRCC.

VFS is still responsible for this in my opinion. They may have routed the passports to the wrong embassy & realised later on. There's a lot of mix-up. Especially for those who submitted late October - early November. They're the ones experiencing this delay.

Write to Nairobi, Lagos & Abuja. You may include London, Accra & Shanghai but they're not necessary. One VFS agent told me last Wednesday when I went to their office, that the passports are stamped in Kenya. So you may want to focus on Nairobi.

All the best.

you just have to wait for them to return it

or call their helpline
08150188800

There's no point calling VFS. They won't be of much help. The best option is to keep mailing IRCC. Especially their Abuja, Lagos & Nairobi offices.

Nothing yet. When I try to contact VFS Global they say it’s still in process. The painful part is I already bought a ticket for 1st of December also made a CAD250 deposit for accommodation. I did all this to avoid high festive season prices now I have to pay extra to reschedule my flight, I have started classes online since September that’s the reason for the rush. It’s hard having classes and assessments online considering network connectivity issues. I’ve really taken a lot of losses. I’m livid and I think they are being nonchalant with the whole situation. If everything went on along normal processing times I would be traveling today now all my proactive plans are for nothing. Just a waste of money. Who will cover all this losses ? Na me Bleep up sha.

I can imagine how you feel. It doesn't make any sense to withhold one's passport for this long. After all the trouble to get PPR.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by Cheebu: 11:13am On Dec 01, 2022
Those of us who have submitted our passports for a while and yet to get any pick-up notification from VFS have a serious issue on our hands. Especially if you got that mail on 17th of November about it being dispatched to the visa office.

We have students who have submitted their passports for 6-7 weeks and counting yet no feedback whatsoever. I think we should form a united front and approach VFS Lagos office for clarification. Those passports could literally be anywhere.

Some of us have booked flights & we're just so confused as to what to do. Personally I mailed IRCC. I included all their offices from Abuja to Nairobi to Accra to London to Shanghai. It was only Nairobi that responded. They said my passport is in queue for printing!

Printing bawo? Are they issuing new ones? It's complete chaos. I've repeatedly asked VFS why it took them 17 days to forward my passport to the embassy - I submitted on 31st of October. They have never answered that question. They just disable the chat and switch off.

Once more, those passports could be anywhere. Let it not be like the case of one guy that submitted his passport & after four months that he didn't get it back, he started complaining. And I'm not sure he has it till now.

Let's act fast!

Hi guys, Good morning!

I submitted my passport to IRCC via VFS Lagos since the 28 of October. The last update I got was that my processed passport has been received at the Abuja visa application OC on the 17th of November. Has anyone had this kind of delay in getting back their passport after PPR ?

Wish you all the best week ahead.

There are a few of us in this boat. Submitted since 1st of November. I'm guessing it's the period we all submitted. Got the same email you got. VFS no do us well but it is well. Lol

My sister submitted her passport to lagos vfs via DHL since 28th of October, since then there have not been any update. She has sent several mail and webform.

Please gurus in the house, what else can she do

There's nothing much she can do except to be patient. A lot of people who submitted their passports to the Lagos office during the height of the terror threat (especially last week of October and first week in November) are yet to get their passports back. Besides the communication from VFS Lagos haven't been helpful. They probably stashed all these passports in their Lagos office till they got the go-ahead from Abuja to send them over. That's a theory anyway.

Now there's a lot of passports to deal with, hence the delay. Just be patient.

Please my sister has her visa in her passport but I read on IRCC portal that you need something called letter of introduction which is approving your study permit. She doesn’t see this on her IRCC messages. The last message is the passport request. We have send webform and emails to Nairobi but no response. My question is can she travel without this letter? Some people say some border officers do not even check this but I don’t really know. Her flight date is fast approaching. Please anyone with this kind of experience can share as this is creating a lot of anxiety. Thanks

When did she collect her passport? I hear it takes up to 48 hours to reflect sometimes. Just be patient. This is weekend, much won't happen anyway. By Monday or Tuesday, it will reflect, hopefully.

I've also read on a particular forum (not Nairaland) that if you don't have the letter, they can pull it up from their system over there.

Hello guys, Lagos and Abuja which is the best to submit passport currently?

I recommend Abuja. Abuja is now issuing counterfoils. So there's no point submitting to VFS Lagos since they'll still submit to their Abuja office anyway before dispatching to the embassy.
