Akelvin51: Most likely. Once you get your LOI, it means it has been attended to. Out of curiosity, did you submit to Lagos or Abuja? |

2pretty4u: That was obviously before the terror alert. Seems since then, Lagos VFS has been receiving bulk of the PPR submissions. These days it takes at least 3 weeks to get your passport stamped. And this transmission fee applies if you submit to Lagos as well (first time applicants aren't included for some strange reason). I paid for it & I submitted in-person at VFS Lagos. |

johnstan: I think it's better to send to VFS Abuja. Sending to VFS Lagos is a lot of stress. First, they'd send to VFS Abuja, then VFS Abuja sends to IRCC Abuja (embassy). And I don't think VFS Lagos sends these passports to Abuja on a daily basis. They probably wait a few days and then dispatch in bulk. I may be wrong though but that's my observation. Submitting without paying the SMS fee has its own challenges too, I think. VFS rarely updates the message you get when you type in your tracking number unless it's almost ready for collection. Most times, you have to chat with them or send a mail before they update. It's quite frustrating. 1 Like |

amaka4obiiiie: MyBankStatement or MBS for short is a one page ticket generated by your bank to replace traditional paper based bank statements that are normally submitted in visa applications. It contains a unique ticket number and passcode that can be used by Embassies to efficiently verify your account holdings are genuine. The beautiful thing about it is that it's simple to upload & not cumbersome like the regular account statements that could cover lots of pages depending on the amount of transactions you carry out on that account. Just go to your bank and request for MBS. They'd give you a form to fill, ask you which embassy you're sending to & the time frame. Then they send a soft copy of the ticket to your email. That ticket contains a passcode. You're to upload that soft copy to your study permit application as your POF. The VO/embassy officer then logs onto the MBS portal & accesses your bank records with the passcode on your ticket. 3 Likes |

hammed71: If you have the BRT card, it's best you board one going to Ajah. Stop at Lekki 3rd Roundabout or Ikate Bus Stop as it is also known. Cross to the other side of the road and walk into the estate. VFS is by your left. It's not far from the estate gate. |

Leleky: Sometimes it's not enough for a sponsor to only come up with an Affidavit of Sponsorship and say they're gonna sponsor you. The VO would want to see the sponsor make payments into your account to convince the VO that your sponsor is actually serious about sponsoring you. Hope my explanation is okay. 2 Likes |

oyefhunke: To be fair, I don't think it's necessary to order your GCMS notes. But you may want to order it if you feel it's necessary. Second, when you're reapplying, DO NOT make use of that agent again. I try to encourage students to do their application themselves. Agents are overrated. There are lots of experts here that you can pique their brains. Also go on YouTube and watch videos on how to write great SOPs and guidelines on how to come up with a water-tight study permit application. The reasons for your refusal are glaring. You obviously need to improve on the amount of money you presented in the first application. The total cost of tuition for the duration of the program and living expenses for the duration of your stay + miscellaneous expenses should give you a ballpark figure of the amount you need to aim for. Family ties and the VO not convinced you'll leave Canada after studies are connected. You need to convince the VO you'll leave. Someone told me something. She said, "always use the phrase "home country" in your SOP as often as you can. It gives the VO the impression that you're keen on returning to Nigeria." It may sound too simplistic but you never know. I tried it and it worked. Mention your parents and siblings. If you have pictures upload them. If you're married, upload your certificate with pictures. Try as much as you can to convince the VO. Your SOP is your voice. Be as convincing as you can. A well crafted SOP goes a long way. All the best! 8 Likes |

cyif2003: The pharmacy business alone may not be sufficient. If you guys have assets - lands, buildings etc - you may want to include them. You could also use parents & siblings as home ties. Since your wife is the principal applicant, she should try to come up with a strong reason why you and the kids are accompanying her to Canada. Be as convincing as possible. All the best! 1 Like |

Tessyugbajah: I'm gonna assume you used a courier company & that you probably don't stay in Lagos or Abuja. This is because you only got a mail on the 10th after submitting on the 27th of last month. You were supposed to get a message from VFS on the day you submitted or the next day. Please correct me if I'm wrong. |

I am definitely 100% sure. I'm not in the habit of posting stuff I'm not sure of. It's even on the website. Accra is for Permanent Resident applications. But for Temporary Resident - like the Study Permit, Nairobi handles it. Lagos or Abuja may come in but the primary office remains Nairobi. Here's the link if you care to research yourself. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/contact-ircc/offices/international-visa-offices.html#n Peace. makano: 1 Like |

YinksXO: According to the male attendant, it's only applicable if your permit was refused the first time. But the information the lady attendant gave was quite different. She said you only get to pay if you don't have the yellow strip & if your biometrics wasn't done in the same year you got your PPR. It was just chaos! |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by Cheebu: 5:22am On Nov 09, 2022 |
YinksXO: I beg to differ. I only submitted my passport last week. I went with the yellow strip and I still paid the money. A lot of folks were complaining. I couldn't explain it myself either. The attendant categorically said that if my application was approved the first time, I wouldn't have paid the money. What does that even mean? Lol |
