Its been a while...Greetings from Australia (Some of you might still remember me from way back)

For those peeps coming to Australia for their Masters...(Their school system here no be beans pie).

Firstly, learn how to use a computer and internet system. Be well grounded in Microsoft word, excel and power-point. Also learn how to surf the net for general information, peer reviewed articles, journals and so on

Secondly, learn how to write essays and research papers.(From 3000 to 9000 words on a topic). Practice critical readings and know how to play with words while bringing out the information you need from different search engines on the web. (Most people from Nigeria are only familiar with google)

Learn how to speak well and do presentations using power point slides because you will be doing loads of it in front of your course mates and lecturers.

Learn how to do referencing (Harvard referencing) and if you can get acquainted with the Endnote software, life will be a bit easy for you.

Lastly, learn how to paraphrase... (Very important)

Thanks me later....Stay woke.

Hello House..

I've been in Adelaide for a week now and still trying to settle down. I've gotten a place to stay for the time being close to Flinders University and I'm trying to look for a Job. Please if there's anyone currently staying here in Adelaide who has an opening somewhere around, please holla at your boy. I just need something to keep me going till school starts in Feb. We Nigerians here should try and help each other. I've tried gumtree, seek.com and indeed.com but nothing is coming forth. A helping hand would be nice at this point. Thanks in advance

You should be very positive bro. Usually when they ask for this, they want to give you the grant. I suggest you give them what they need now and hope you get the visa in like 3 weeks or even less

Anyone know where I can buy a luggage scale? I need it urgently so I can't order from jumia or konga

Just buy ghana must go bag and when you get to the airport, share your load into two. You are only allowed to carry two, each weighing about 23kg each or so

Thanks Bro

Glad you made it here bro. I've been here a few days and its been lovely. The most important thing now is getting something to do to keep body and mind going. The country is lovely and the people are friendly. The free- Wifi everywhere is unbelievable...I really wish everyone needing visa from Naija can come here just like the Asians here have done. You almost think you are in China or India sometimes because of the number of Asians you see everywhere. For those still expectant, I wish you all the luck in the world. Stay woke

I tried using my gtb master card to pay on trip advisor and it was rejected. I want to know which card you used to pay for your flight. Info needed urgently pls.

I just went to a travel agency to get my flight and hotel booked. They have all the experience and don't charge extra. You just have to be careful with these airlines. The amount of money you stand to lose if anything should go wrong is not beans. Its better I pay a certified agent and know that I have one less thing to worry about.

Thank you very much Fobak. . .

I have a conditional offer at University of Adelaide and the only condition is to be certified GTE. I responded last week Wednesday with my bank statement and replies to the questions on the GTE form and a confirmation was sent 11th Dec 2017 that the form is being attended to be a compliant officer. I still await their confirmation even though i am not sure how long this would take since i am meant to resume feb 2018. I know afterwards i would need to do an official acceptance of the offer, make a deposit before the COE is issued to proceed with visa processing.

i read about upfront medicals in other speed up visa processing and i would need to get a HAP ID or something? In your opinion, do you think it is the right way to proceed or i just chill till they return back with the result from GTE?

Bro... With the situation of things at the moment, just be looking at June/July intake. No need to bother yaself about February intake. Take your time.. No need to rush

guy, please i noticed something , i have been an active member of this tread for more than 8 months , and i have noticed that visa denials are usually issued on the 15th or 16th of every month, am not been paranoid here, please correct me if am wrong but just go through the thread from day 1 , you would notice it too. Lets just be hopeful.

You are very right bruhh and I've also noticed that recently, they only issue out grants first or second week of the month and then you don't hear from them again till the following month. If that is the case, we should be looking at early or mid January for some good news again. They have probably finished their quota for the year.

My application was finalise since 3 days ago. After waiting for the email notification and after waiting for 7 months for Australia visa. Today I finally got a Rejection letter. The reason because of Nigeria unstable economic and political unrest . Which is not my personal fault.
My school was RMIT.
I just have to take it by faith and move on with my life. As I have waited for the decision weather good or bad to enable me prepare for the new year . I pray those awaiting theirs should get their grant IJN AMEN.

This in itself is indeed saddening. The reason for the rejection if even more saddening. If they can reject someone that has waited for 7 months on this basis and for this reason - then there's little or no hope for the rest of us still waiting. Anyone can be rejected based on this. Take heart and please don't think too much about it. Don't give up and keep trying

Hello my people, Pls is it possible for one to travel to Dubai, spend a night or two and then transit from DXB to Sydney without a transit visa.
I know Nigerians don't need visa to enter Dubai but I don't know if a Nigerian that is on holiday in Dubai will be allowed to board a flight from Dubai to Australia.

I'm thinking of buying one or two stuffs from Dubai in January. Also the fare going this way is relatively cheap compared to lifting from Nigeria.

I can only advice you go on the 24th of December using South African airways. Its about 600K and you don't need a transit visa. Saves a lot of money and gives you ample time to settle down there before feb. If you are going to be in Dubai for more than 24hrs, then you will need a transit visa and probably spend more

Big congrats to all those who got their grants this week. Christmas came early for you guys. Its good to know there are still people working in that Pretoria office. Hopefully, for the rest of us still waiting since July, our CO's will wake up from their slumber and grant us our own Christmas present.

Yes I used an agent. In August, we got a mail from them stating that the application is ready for finalization and that we should submit an updated COE and OSHC which we did. Sometime in September, we wrote to them and they replied stating that a decision cannot be given before 4 months to resumption. So we took "chill pills" and relaxed. Fast forward to earlier last month, we contacted them again and this time they only acknowledged the mail and stated that they have high volume of applications and that they will attend to the application.

I intend to travel in February if granted visa but I need them to reach a decision on the application before the year ends. I cannot start 2018 in Limbo. I need to plan for 2018 in 2017. Traveling across continents for studies requires a great deal of preparation and time to settle in into the new environment.

At this point, all I can say is thank you JESUS for everything I have. I cannot let a visa application bother me when GOD has done enough for me in 2017.

Personally I feel everybody who applied around May, June and July and have not yet received a refusal should be positive. Chances are, they have reached a decision as regards our grants and they are probably just trying to delay us so we don't go there on time and start working. If that's the case then they are not being fair. We should be compensated for the time wasted because we applied long before our initial start up date and had to defer because they couldn't keep to their own visa processing time. This Obariama dude applied in September and got his grant in November so its certain they don't operate on a case by case- first come first serve basis. If they are truly being professional, we should not only be given our grants but also we should be compensated. My own take
