Lemme cite an example,

One of the aforementioned 'regular users' visits www . exploit-db . com , searches for any "Joomla" exploit and comes across the "People Component" exploit in Joomla. .i.e. www . exploit-db . com /exploits/15989/ .

The exploit says

A) SQL Injection

That means a simple google query i.e.

inurl:/index.php?option=com_people&controller=people

will bring out ALL sites using this component. Adding

-1 UNION SELECT username,password,3 FROM jos_users

after the 'id' parameter will reveal usernames & pwds.

And what makes the whole 'exploitation' interesting? Finding a 'login page'! Nd for joomla, its /administrator. . .Before yhu know whats happening, u ve an intruder in yo system. .he might up a svr shell, up a Mailer, get yo customer's infos and so on. .

Buh an admin usrname & pwd WITHOUT a login page is as useless as having a KEY without a door to open with.

I currently use a VPS server to host a Laravel program.

People may not want to use it because of the cost which you forgot to include in your list. My package is almost $1000 annually right now.

I pay for WHM cPanel too, which makes operating it easy for me at an additional cost to the whole package. I still use the command line for critical issues tho.

Lol...I've been using, configuring VPS server for long... most times when you create a thread with such topic, most people dont have anything to contribute.

I remember when I even had to setup a custom email server for a client here on Nairaland who wanted to send atleats 250k - 500k email per day.

Told him to be patient so we could warm and rotate the IPs accordingly to decrease spam and bounce rates and guarantee high inbox rate. Most of the thing I was saying sounded alien to him.

Too many things you can do with VPS servers but the market no dey here and oyinbo people would rather use their own people for this kind technicalities.

I've used so many company's VPS even the ones that racially abused me when I complained about their server.
