IN THE DEVELOPED WORLD, CONCERNED AUTHORITIES WOULD FIRST OF ALL CONTACT THE NEXT OF KIN, NOTIFY THEM OF FATALITIES BEFORE RELEASING NAMES TO THE PRESS. NO MEDIA OUTLET PUBLISHES THE NAMES OF THOSE INVOLVED IN FATAL INCIDENTS UNTIL THE NEXT OF KIN HAVE BEEN DULY INFORMED.

francisj:

What Will Do If You Discover That A Friend (Someone You Met 6 Years Ago Friend During Your NYSC) Have Fake Your Credential (Without Your Knowledge ) And That Person Is Working Now With An Agency Of The Federal Govt. Abuja.

This Is My Stoty:

I Graduated 7 Yrs Ago From One Of The Second Generation University In Nigeria with a second class honour degree, upper division And Served 6 Years Ago In One Of Nigerian Core North State. During ,The Three Week Orientation Exercise, One Evening ,I Was Relaxing at The Mami-Market Watching The Premier League Preview ,And This Guy (Ben) Came In , He Sat On a chair by My Table And Order For A Beer . Corperss Are Always Corpers, Soon We Begin Talking Football, The NYSC Camp, Etc . It Seems I Got Myself A Friend Whom ,I Learn During Our Chat To Be A Graduate Of Medicine from one of the eastern university .

Two Days Later, I Got A Call From Someone Telling That Ben Is Sick And Have Been Admitted In A Hospital Outside The NYSC Camp, All Attempt To Verify That Called Failed As The Phone No. Could Not Be Reached.

Orientation Ended And I Was Posted To a LGA Some 178km From The State Capital And Never Heard from Ben Again Until 10Months Later During Our POP (Pass Out Parade) .He met me after i collected my discharge certificate ,some guys were driving us home so We Exchange Contact And I Told Him ,That I Will Be Staying In Abuja For a While With A Friend Before Something Come Up .

one Yrs Later, I Received a Call From Ben Telling Me That He Will Be Coming To Abuja And Will Like To Stay With Us..He Came And Stay With Us For A While, Then I Was Already Working As A Contract Staff With One Of This FMCG Company. He Came But Was Looking Frustrated , Because He Was Jobless, Told Us That He Never Graduated From Medical School ,Even thought ,He Started As A Medical Student But Was Unable To Graduate. He Claim To Have A Degree In Building Technology.

Ben Stays With Us For Some Days , Before He Travels To Lagos In Search For A Job. From Then On ,We Keep In Touch Via Cellphone, And We Exchange Information On Jobs Opportunity.

Four Month Later ,Ben Called Me One Days To Inform Me Of An Urgent Opening With One Of Telecom Company. He Send Me The Advertisement Via E-Mail Which Requires Hard Copies Of Credentials .I Send Him The Scan Copies Of My Credentials Which Were Already Save On My Yahoo To Print Out And Summit For Me.

Two Month Later, I Got A Permanent Appointment With A French Multinational FMCG Company And Was Posted To Cover The Whole Of North-Central Nigeria States . I Move To K.D To Resume Duty and never see Ben again thought we chat via cell phones.

One Year Later , Ben Move To Abuja, Claims He Got A Job As A Sales Man Some Electronic Company.

I Have Been Working For The French FMCG Company Now For The Past 4Yrs + Now. And My Friend Claim To Be Working As A Sales Man For Some Electronic Company. We Talks Via Handsets , Hangout When We Are Within Each Other Area.

The My Biggest Surprise Came-Up 3 Wks Ago When I Discover ,That My Friend: Ben Is Working With Federal Govt. Agency using My Name. In Fact, His Colleagues Address Him With My Own Surname.(A Guy Whose Two Names are completely different from mone only that we have a common middle name initials)

My Guess Is That, The Civil Services Commission Declared A Position For My Field And My Friend Apply, Attended The Interview, And Forge The Scan Copies Of My Credential that I once send to Him, And Then Decided To Take The Job Without My Knowledge ,Afterall Am Doing Well With A private firm.

I Have Been Seeking For Advice On How To Handle this since the day I gots to known ,your genuine advise will be welcome Nairalanders

The fact that the above piece was written by a university graduate leaves much to be desired, perhaps of the Nigerian educational system and its products. Shame!

Cultured: It is an irony that majority of the guys commenting on this thread are " educated illiterates" . The article stated it clearly that " Part II will feature the Top 10 Universities in South Africa, a country that is home to enough academic heavyweights to populate its own list” , yet some of the commenters above still questioned the reason why South Africa universities are not included, thus pronouncing the ranking as fake.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH! KEEP DELUDING AND DECEIVING YOURSELF. APPARENTLY, YOU'RE THE BIGGEST 'EDUCATED ILLITERATE' HERE. WHAT KIND OF RANKING AND CLASSIFICATION PURPORTS TO LIST THE TOP 10 UNIS IN A CONTINENT YET EXCLUDING A SPECIFIC REGION - SOUTHERN AFRICA. YOU'RE AN ABSOLUTE M0R0N. PERIOD!

^^^So sad and a pathetic situation. How can someone so famous be left abandoned like this by society and gov't? He wasn't a nobody was he?

I'm almost certain that if he had been taken abroad within the first two weeks of his illness, he may have survived; and even if he had been taken abroad late and had his leg amputated there, i'm pretty sure he would have survived as well.

The rich elite that have robbed this country blind from independence to date (and who are responsible for not investing in the health sector and training of personnel) don't give a fuc/k b'cos they can go, or take any member of their family abroad even for a minor ailment as a bloated tummy from over-eating; if you're an ordinary joe in this country, it's just you and your God.

In saner climes, an enquiry would be held to find out how someone can die from an amputated leg (diabetes or not).....whether he caught an infection in the hospital, or whether the amputation and aftercare weren't done properly; and if found culpable, the hospital would be liable to pay compensation; but more importantly, lessons would have been learnt incase of next time......with the hospital equiped better and staff sent for re-training if necessary.

May his soul rest in peace, amen.

1. Too many spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors in print reporting. None (and I mean none) of them is free from this.
2. Lack of advanced questioning techniques. Cf. Grilling interview techniques used on HardTalk programme on BBC News 24 or by, for example, John Snow on Channel 4.
3. ON TV, the quality of broadcasting belongs to the 19th (not even the 20th) century both in terms of equipment and staffing.

Charles.nerd:
In my honest opinion,Eneh cannot be said to be a dull student,he had two degrees in Nigeria before going to finland for further studies.

I think he deliberately flunked his exams to elongate his stay in finland, which invariably qualifies him to become a finnish citizen. And the tuition is supposedly free ,so he can afford to fail as many times as possible.

On the issue at hand,I don't see why he should not be issued a certificate if he did everything within the law, anything other than that is plain victimisation and there is no other word to explain it than racism.

Some 10 years ago, it took some foreign students (especially Nigerians and Indians) an average of 3-5 years to complete 1 year MA or MSc degrees at Liverpool Hope University College (then awarding Liverpool University degrees even in subjects e.g. theology not offered at Liverpool, funny isn't it). Those guys were working like no man's business, making pounds and doing the minimal study possible. After earning their MA/MSc degrees, some went on to do ND, HND, professional certificates and managed to hit the 10 years residence criteria to earn Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) on the basis of Long Residence and ultimately acquired their British Citizenships. Education / Outcome Of London Metropolitan University’s Legal Challenge by chichiman: 6:58am On Nov 09, 2012
An initial challenge was heard on 21 September 2012. Following the hearing, a UK Border Agency spokesperson said:

"London Metropolitan University's Tier 4 sponsor licence remains revoked. London Metropolitan has failed to get its sponsor status restored and the judge has not granted interim relief.

'UKBA agreed to allow existing genuine students to continue studying at the university until their course has ended or the end of the academic year, whichever is sooner — as long as they meet the right standards. But students who are here illegally and do not meet our immigration criteria will not be allowed to stay.

Revoking the university's licence was the right course of action and we will continue to fight the University's challenge at the full hearing."

Our decision to revoke London Metropolitan University's licence therefore remains in place. However, the judgment does allow existing genuine students to stay on at the university until their course has ended or the academic year, whichever is sooner - as long as they meet Tier 4 requirements. This means we will make additional checks on affected students at the university.

We will update our guidance for students at London Metropolitan University in light of this judgment.

In the meantime London Met students should contact the help centre if you have any questions about what the court judgment means for you.

Justin Welby set to be named as new archbishop of Canterbury

Downing Street says it expects announcement soon, with bishop of Durham widely expected to be Rowan Williams's successor

Justin Welby, the bishop of Durham, is expected to be unveiled as the next archbishop of Canterbury within days as Lambeth Palace prepares to break weeks of silence on the identity of Rowan Williams's successor.

After a selection process shrouded in secrecy and mired in internal wrangling, the 56-year-old evangelical Old Etonian appears set to take over the leadership of the Church of England from Williams, who will step down at the end of the year.

On Wednesday neither Lambeth Palace nor the church showed any sign of wanting to lift the effective news blackout that has characterised the work of the Crown Nominations Commission (CNC) since the end of October, and a spokesperson refused to comment on reports that Welby had officially accepted the job.

But his name is believed to have been passed to Downing Street after it emerged as the preferred option of the 16-member CNC. The prime minister's official spokesman said on Wednesday that Downing Street was expecting an announcement soon.

Other more experienced candidates for the position included John Sentamu, the archbishop of York, Graham James, the bishop of Norwich, and James Jones, the bishop of Liverpool.

But Welby's supporters say that, despite his relatively short clerical career – he was enthroned as a bishop less than a year ago – he remains the best man for the job.

A Cambridge graduate who spent his twenties working in the oil industry, first for the French oil company Elf Aquitaine and then for the oil exploration group Enterprise Oil plc, Welby only took his first steps in the clergy in the 1990s.

He then embarked on a swift rise through the ranks of the church, becoming dean of Liverpool in December 2007 and bishop of Durham in November last year. His experience in business and ethics made him a natural choice to join the parliamentary commission on banking standards earlier this year.

Williams, who is hoping to have a valedictory landmark success later this month when legislation approving women bishops comes before the General Synod, advised whoever does become the 105th man to sit on the throne of St Augustine to take a keen interest in the media. Speaking in Auckland, he quoted the theologian Karl Barth when asked what qualities his successor would need, saying he would be one who preaches "with a Bible in one hand and a newspaper in the other".

He went on: "You have to be cross-referencing all the time and saying, 'How does the vision of humanity and community in the Bible map on to these issues of poverty, privation, violence and conflict?' And you have to use what you read in the newspaper to prompt and direct the questions that you put to the Bible: 'Where is this going to help me?' So I think somebody who likes reading the Bible and likes reading newspapers would be a good start."

Long the front-runner in the succession contest, Welby's potential appointment has prompted intense speculation in recent days, with leading bookmakers Ladbrokes and William Hill both suspending betting after a spike in interest in the bishop of Durham.

The speculation increased on Wednesday when it emerged he had cancelled an appearance on the BBC Radio 4 programme Any Questions that had been scheduled for Friday in Country Durham.
