Ogun State Residents Resort To Fighting Armed Robbers Themselves Using Machetes, Sticks and Guns

Some residents of Alakuko to Ijaiye axis of Sango-Otta in Ogun State have resorted to self-defense over the incessant robberies in the area since the lockdown started.

A source reveals that the residents have reached out to the police all to no avail except for this afternoon when they showed up after the robbers had fled.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has reacted to the decision of some state governors to relax the lockdown order in their states for churches to celebrate Easter.

Kenyan Deputy Governor, Gideon Saburi to spend three more days in a police cell after being arrested for violating Coronavirus quarantine order.

Deputy Governor of Kenyan country 'Kilifi', Gideon Saburi will be spending three more days in a police cell following his arrest for violating a Coronavirus quarantine order in the country.

It was gathered that in spite of the Kenyan government's directive of travelers entering the country from a destination with confirmed cases of Coronavirus to proceed to self-isolation, Saburi ignored the precautionary measure and went ahead to attend several weddings and funerals. He also reportedly mingled with county staff in complete disregard of the government directive aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus.

The Deputy Governor was arrested by the police on charges of failing to go into self-isolation upon arriving at the East African country from Germany on March 5.

He said;

“We are recording his statement. We must establish whether he signed COVID-19 self-declaration forms, was he spreading the virus intentionally and many other things."

Following his arraignment on Monday, April 6, a Kenyan court granted the prosecution's request for the Kilifi Deputy Governor to spend three more days in police custody.

Prosecutor, Edge Mulamula told the court that medical experts at the Coast General Hospital’s isolation center had recommended that Saburi stays at home in self-imposed quarantine for another 14 days until a final COVID-19 test is done.

Mombasa County DCIO, Anthony Mureithi had said the deputy governor will be interrogated before any charges are preferred against him.

The prosecution sought more time to complete investigations but wanted the court to detain Saburi for 14 days, saying that the Kilifi leader cannot be trusted to quarantine himself.


Saburi’s lawyer, George Kithi reportedly countered the request before it was granted. He argued that there is no evidence to show that the deputy governor had at any point tested positive for COVID-19, and that he was wrongly accused by the state.

He said;

“Medical report from Cast General Hospital isolation center have not indicated anywhere that the DG was positive, only instruction is another 14 days of quarantine outside isolation center. Hence there is nothing to prove that he infected any residents."

Commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi, has said that 80 percent of the calls received on the CORONA emergency lines are hoax calls "from irresponsible members of the society."



Speaking at a press conference on Monday, April 6, the Commissioner said most people call for fun, pranks or to pass insults to health workers, and this has been very distracting in the management of coronavirus outbreak in the state and nationwide.



He said 11% of the calls are from people seeking information about the viral disease, 9% are from people feeling symptoms while 0.4% of the calls are red flags.

A Ghanaian man has gone viral after inventing a solar-powered hand sensitive barrel to help curtail the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The unique invention is to encourage the constant washing of hands in a hygienic manner in the wake of the pandemic.

The barrel has an in-built sensor which makes sure that once your hand is under the tap, soapy water automatically drops.

The system then allows for a 15-second gap before the water also starts flowing for the person to wash his or her hands into the barrel.

President Muhammadu Buhari endorsed the trial of 5G technology at the MTN first live demo of 5G network on Monday in Abuja.

This second video below shows a concerned Nigerian citizen who records a video that he claims is the laying of 5G cables. He said while Nigerians are indoors due to lockdown orders; telecommunication companies are busy laying the cables. He also claimed that upon questioning those who were laying the cables; they said they were laying Airtel cables, after completing the laying of MTN cables the previous week.

The diggers further said they had after laying the cables around Lagos, the next step is to mount antennas. I will try my best to explain in details what you should know about radiations.

Classifications of Radiations
They are two basic classification of radiations, they include:
1 Particle radiation: This contains charged and neutral particles
2. Electromagnetic radiation: (Photon flow. 5G belongs to this group.)

We can classify radiations according to their biological effects on matter, here, we have two types of radiations: Ionizing and non ionizing radiations.

You must have heard these two in recent times, so what is ionizing and non ionizing radiations?
a. Ionizing radiations: This means radiation have enough energy to eject one electron from the atom of the crossed material.
b. Non ionizing radiation: Particle energy is not enough to eject one electron from the atom, therefore it is said to have lower ionizing potential.

Great, let's advance further. The next question is, at what energy is a particle considered as ionizing? I won't waste much time here, so let's concentrate on 5G and their corresponding energy.

I am a graduate student of Nuclear Engineering. And in one of our course called Interaction of Radiation with Matter, we discussed everything about ionizing and non ionizing radiation.
Therefore, for tissues/matter consisting of Hydrogen, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen (Which the human body fall under), radiations are considered as ionizing radiation if their energy is greater >> 12.4 eV (electron volt). The wavelength of such photon is 0.1um (micro meter). .

Using the relationship between energy and frequency, E = hf, I made a quick calculation and realized that the wavelength of such radiation must be 100nm (0.1um) and the frequency (Hz) is to the order of 3 x 10^15 hertz. We do know that the frequency of a 5G network (5 Giga hertz - 95 Giga hertz) and discovered that it's frequency is of the order of 10^9 hertz. which is million times lower than what is considered as ionizing. It therefore means that photons from a 5G network can never ionize the human body.

We know all these because to excite the electron from the ground state of a hydrogen atom to the first excitation state, you must have an energy of 13.6 eV. If you check the energy of a 5G wave, you will see it is approximately 0.00002 eV which is a million times lower than the fundamental energy of ionizing radiation.

Some persons have also linked it to cause cancer and the rest, this is not true. Of course there are two effects of radiations which is stochastic and deterministic effect. Deterministic effect occurs instantly and severity increases with radiation dose where as stochastic effect does not occur instantly but will take time to manifest.

Let me point out that, those who survived the Hiroshima and Nagazaki bomb blast and were followed in a study called Cohort Study, out of over 100k followed person, only about 2% died of cancer related cases which manifested about 50 years after the incident. Remember these people took many grays of highly ionizing radiations.

Whenever you take flight from a particular place to another, you have absorbed more ionizing radiations that someone living 20km from a nuclear power plant. When you take 1-9 cigarettes a day, you take same risk as someone who took a dose of 3.4Sv from a bomb blast.

To end it, 5G network is not an ionizing radiation, and poses no harm to the body, well not anyone that has been experience now. It will take many years for one to experience any such effect (Which to me is not possible). Some of us have done X-rays, if only you knew you stood against an ionizing radiation, and yet still healthy, you won't be talking about 5G network.

Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs, says there is no hidden agenda behind some countries evacuating their citizens from Nigeria.

At least, 637 Europeans were evacuated from Nigeria and Benin Republic on Thursday.

The move had left many wondering if there is a cause for alarm.

During the press briefing of the presidential task force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Friday, a journalist had asked Onyeama if leaving the country was an indictment on Nigeria’s health system, to which the minister responded that it’s not necessarily so.

Onyeama said those who had left did so did so to enable them make use of a system that they are familiar with, should the need arise.

He added that the diplomatic staff of most of the countries are still in Nigeria, and that hey have no plans of leaving.

“It is basically a case where people are more familiar with the health system in their various countries and so prefer to go to the various countries so in the event that they might have to be confined, they would be in more familiar surroundings and they would also have access to medical practitioners and facilities that they are used to,” Onyeama said.

“So, that is really the reason. And you will find that a large number of those countries evacuating citizens, that their heads of mission and ambassadors and other staff are still here in Nigeria and there are no plans of leaving.”

COVID-19: FG Commences Disbursement Of N20,000 Cash Transfer To Over 1.2m Poor Citizens.
Targets additional 1m households in 2020

Federal Government, on Wednesday, flagged-off the disbursement of N20,000 conditional cash transfer (CCT) to over 1.2 million across 34 States of the Federation and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, who presented the fund to some of the beneficiaries at the Kwali Area Council of FCT, expressed satisfaction at the successful implementation of the scheme which started in 2016.

Mrs Farouq said the N20,000 for the four months CCT payment was in line with the directives by President Muhammadu Buhari, aimed at cushioning the effect of the lockdown of Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States on the poor and vulnerable households.

“This initiative has been ongoing for the past 5 years. It’s an exercise geared towards supporting the poor and vulnerable households of our society and we give them monthly stipend of N5,000 and now that we have the restriction, Mr President has directed that we give them 2 months advance payment.

“So we are here today to carry out that directive of paying the 2 months stipend.”


According to her, over 1 million people across the country have been enlisted to benefit from the scheme, adding that over 5,000 people are to benefit from the scheme in Kwali Area Council alone.

While responding to questions on the mode of selection of the beneficiaries, the Minister explained that: “it is a very long process, many people are involved, community leaders, religious leaders and the Council chairmen and his council members. They all come together and identify the poorest of poor and vulnerable households in that particular community.”

While reacting to allegations that the funds were distributed to APC members only, Mrs Farouq, who dismissed the allegation, argued that, “that is very untrue. You are free to ask the beneficiaries and they will tell you the method adopted in identifying the beneficiaries.”

In her remarks, CCT National Coordinator, Mrs. Temitope Sinkayedin, unveiled plans to add 1 million households to the existing 1.2 million households already registered under the programme in 2020.

“It has improved a lot of their livelihood, it has improved the human capital, that is they are now able to send their children to school, they are now able to feed and have better diet, not just starch alone, they are now able to have balanced diet; they are also able to attend clinic.

“And in some communities, they even dug well where water is their problem, some communities they’ve renovated their health centres, and we even have some extreme cases wherein some communities they out up a simple classroom for their children because their children used to go to the neighbouring communities to go to school.

“And it will interest you that this programme is not just about the cash transfer alone. It is a cash-plus programme, we give them money we also train them on how to be self-sustaining; they take care of their hygiene, they take care of their businesses; if you don’t have a business, how you can start a business; and then we also teach them on nutrition, environmental sanitation. So it’s a full package for the household. That is why the programme is known as household uplifting programme,” she said.

On the rationale behind the payment of the 2-month stipend, she explained that most of the poor live in places where there are no banking infrastructure.

“Where the poor reside, there are no banking infrastructure, so you cannot pay them through the bank, we pay through mobile banking operators as you can see, it is through transferred electronic payment as you have just witnessed. And then we need to pay these mobile money operators so the more the payment the more we pay. So that is why we now put two months together so they pay every two months. We started paying this money since 2016 with 8 states.

In this video, Atiku Abubakar’s son Mohammed speaks on some of the experiences he has had since he was diagnosed to be COVID-19 positive.

According to him, on the 20th of march he tested positive for covid-19, later that night, he was taken to gwadalada isolation centre where he has been since. He hopes to be out soon as soon results of his tests are favorable.

He said he made the video to speak on his experience so it can be of help to Nigerians. Though he was nervous the first few days with a little bit of trauma, he grew stronger in mind day by day, because of prayers from random Nigerians, friends, family and associates which made him feel stronger.

He then points out that fake news is very bad AND can compound ones problems especially if one is vulnerable. He gave an example of those people in his estate who he said were among those who spread false news about him when he was tested positive.

He further says the fight against the virus requires a collective effort; In his words, he said “we should come together and see how we can support one another. The quicker the society comes together to collectively fight this challenge, the sooner we overcome”.

Also, he notes that the longer it takes for us to fight this pandemic, the harder the impact it will have on our society as per fatalities. He further stresses that we should work hard to support the government and follow directives so we can overcome the challenge sooner than later. He wanted Nigerians to come together, put aside politics and defeat this pandemic as one.

In his closing remarks, he said we shouldn’t forget to pray and show medical staff support because they are in the frontline and put their lives at risk. We should appreciate and thankful to them.

Taskforce officials were seen trying to pacify residents to go back indoors; one of the residents replied by saying; "no food, no light, how do they want us to stay inside?"

The lockdown can too sudden for many who did not have time to stock up their house or buy fuel for their generators due to the panic buying that ensured after President Buhari announced the planned lockdown which was to start on Monday evening on Sunday night; causing long queue in supermarkets, markets, fuel stations, banks, and others.

Due to the rising case of coronavirus Pandemic in Nigeria, different states are taking drastic measures to reduce/stop the spread into their respective states.

Delta state had earlier closed its borders and Enugu state followed suit.

Anambra state had stayed it would close its own border by midnight on Monday, 30th March. But motorists were surprised that the bridge was closed earlier.

It is suspected that the early closure was to prevent panic migration which would stress the bridge should there be traffic on the bridge.
