Crime / Lagos: Cages Within A Cage. by chinedu234(m): 9:00pm On Sep 05, 2020
The trend of illegal barricades on major roads in Lagos is beginning to assume a dangerous dimension. The formation of residential estates both legitimate and illegitimate seems to be the vehicle utilized by these residents to perpetuate this illegal activity. The ability to employ gate guards is also another requirement for setting up these barricades as well as perpetuate some antisocial activities. The focus for today is a surburb called Baruwa inside. This is a growing community tucked somewhere in between Ipaja and Isheri Igando within Alimosho. The spate of estate formations and attendant road barricades within this community is becoming alarming. The initial signal to this problem arose some years ago with certain residents proclaiming themselves as peace estate. They established several barricades on some link roads within the larger Baruwa community putting some under permanent lock with guards turning back motorists under the flimsy excuse of being non residents of their estate. The non reactivate nature of non residents of this peace estate may have been the required tonic for other residents in the other parts of Baruwa to initiate their own barricades with the attendant turning back of motorists and extortion of some who may insist on passing through especially on commercial missions. This is the true situation with Akeem Lawal and Monsuru Agoro streets both within the Baruwa inside. Their barricades constitute public nuisance and threat to the peaceful habitation of the entire Baruwa community. There have been hot debates and threats from other residents of other clusters to establish their own barricades in order to retaliate the actions of the other barricaded clusters. This is the looming dangerous dimension lagosians may not find funny. The experience is not different for people who attempt driving through iyana odo bus stop along Isheri Igando to link Baruwa. The residents beside impress event center have announced themselves as royal estate and also erected a barricade stopping motorists from plying the road. Is this not establishment of cages in a cage? What is your experience?

It's so unfortunate how we regard people at mere 70 years as old. It doesn't help that we have also been brainwashed to believe such people should be debilitated by ill-health especially arthritis. People should concentrate on how to live healthy especially nutrition wise.

Romance / Re: My Dilemma: My Girlfriend's Confessions. by chinedu234(m): 9:52am On Oct 29, 2019
To confess before strong commitment is exemplary. Abortions have very bad negative effects. If both of you have slept together,it is sin. Relationship, especially marriage is the bonding of two histories. Look hard at your past history and what you will like it to be till the end of life. Does her past and imaginable future look suitable for your dream? This needs to be your consideration for the next possibly one year before a reasonable decision can be made. And you must not sleep with her in order to be objective. Most mistakes in our marriages arise from not doing such realistic reasoning. And we are prejudiced by sex.

Business / Local Governments New Revenue Drive: The Lagos Experience. by chinedu234(m): 1:16pm On Oct 23, 2019
It is no longer in doubt that Nigeria is cash strapped. The economy is severely challenged and the government itself is battling to survive. This puts the common man in a very precarious situation. The once regulated local government revenue drive undertaken by the Joint Tax Board (JTB) seems to have evaporated under the current desperate measures by the federal and state governments to sustain the usual opulent lifestyles of officials and godfathers. On the federal highways from Onitsha to Lagos, ninth mile to Abuja,Jos etc,the same story abound. Local governments officials and touts line up especially at very bad portions of the roads to forcefully request for various emblems and stickers from trucks and buses. You can never have all the certificates they request from you because they come out with coinages that do not exist anywhere else. Today 23/10/2019, local government officials and thugs operating all around Ikotun,Abaranje,Egbe,Idimu,Ejigbo have been arresting trucks for not having ON and OFF permit and Garage permit. The intimidated drivers and companies are being taken to local council offices and made to cough out about #12,000. The touts claim that the permits are obtained for #5,000 and #4,500 respectively. The extra is the penalty for not knowing about the new certificates. One really wonders if these are the ingredients of the fuel required for the take off of the next level jet. A reminder is necessary here for those who don't understand the transient nature of power that the mandate, security protection and all other freebies they enjoy today as government functionaries will not last forever. Alex Baddeh should be on peoples minds.

Business is normally driven by the primary principles of competitive advantages. A digression means inefficient allocation of resources. The results may not be fully appreciated from the start. Therefore,Time is an essential element for a better analysis of the present scenario.

One of Tinubu boys harassing and extorting truck drivers in the night. You only need to witness where and how these urchins deal with stranded drivers when their trucks break down at night. They even collude with LASTMA and more especially in Ogun state with TRACE officers to extort drivers. This one is lucky today. Might not be so tomorrow.

SIMPLE ECONOMICS: If the incompetent Buhari administration had paid the slightly higher than $800m,the nation wouldn't have been going through this unnecessary and unfortunate situation. The travel expenditures of some of these hooligans to U.K.,the monies currently wasted on legal experts local and abroad, monies wasted on laundering an already horrible image with foreign media, the cost of distraction from very important current matters. Nigeria is being run by people close to baboons.
