Education / Post-graduate Studies In Nigeria With Degrees From Foreign Institutions. by chinyere01: 5:43pm On Apr 12, 2013
First and foremost of all, I am not in anyway advertising, neither am I paid to promote for any institution. I am just doing this because this is something I came across in a quest to get a top up and training for my staff

I made a post about this previously, but I probably did not explain it well, so I would take my time to post again.

There is a foreign based institution now in Nigeria, and they offer graduate and Post-graduate studies. In both cases, you get awarded degrees from their partner Institutions in UK, Canada, Ireland,... depends on what course you do.

On last request, I was told that you could actually complete their courses in Nigeria and write ONLY Thesis to get a masters degree or MBA from UK universities.

You guys should check them out.

mko abiola: Pls,any one with useful info of any university currently selling or admitting post graduates students shud drop info.preferably, south west.
Thanks.

Hi, try British Education network. They are now in Nigeria.

They have a lot of courses, and most importantly, you get your degree from foreign Universities (UK, Canada, Ireland..), i think its dependent on what course you do anyway.

All their degrees and certificates are from foreign bodies.

Education / Obtaining Foreign Degrees Without Jamb In Nigeria - Graduate And Post-graduate by chinyere01: 5:01pm On Apr 10, 2013
First and foremost of all, I am not in anyway advertising, neither am I paid to promote for any institution. I am just doing this because this is something I came across in a quest to get a top up and training for my staff.

I came across a certain British Education Network, which is now in Nigeria, and i found that they have equivalent degree courses in the Nigerian University system. I think they use the UK system of education though, as in UK QCF.

I decided to bring this here, because going through their website, they do not require JAMB for undergraduate studies, and also, their qualifications are awarded by accredited UK bodies. I got interested, because my niece has grown old writing JAMB. However, I feel that some people on nairaland stand to benefit from their offerings, considering the number of posts on JAMB and direct entry and all that.

With further investigations, I found out that they are also approved by the Fed. Ministry of Education.

For the trainings we wanted to undertake, they also added that our staff could follow their courses and then write a thesis with their partner universities in the UK to get an MBA undecided

Just thought I should let you guys know about them.

Once again, I am in no way affiliated with them. I just think it would be a great opportunity for young people to study without the Nigerian stress.
Health / Benefits Of Onions by chinyere01: 11:11pm On Apr 04, 2013
In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu...
Many of the farmers and their families had contracted it and many died. The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then).

The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of the
onions and place it under the microscope. She gave him one and
when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. It obviously
absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.

Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser. She said that several years ago, many of her employees were coming down with the flu, and so were many of her customers.
The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work.
Try it and see what happens.
We did it last year and we never got the flu.

Now there is a P. S. to this for I sent it to a friend in Oregon who regularly contributes material to me on health issues. She replied with this most interesting experience about onions:
Thanks for the reminder.
I don't know about the farmer's story. but, I do know that I contacted pneumonia, and, needless to say, I was very ill. I came
across an article that said to cut both ends off an onion put it into an empty jar, and place the jar next to the sick patient at night.
It said the onion would be black in the morning from the germs. sure enough it happened just like that...the onion was a mess and I
began to feel better.

Another thing I read in the article was that onions and garlic placed around the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They have powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.
This is the other note.
Lots of times when we have stomach problems we don't know what to blame. Maybe it's the onions that are to blame. Onions
absorb bacteria is the reason they are so good at preventing us from getting colds and flu and is the very reason we shouldn't eat an onion that has been sitting for a time after it has been cut open.

LEFT OVER ONIONS ARE POISONOUS

There is absolutely no need to get defensive on the topic.

OP is obviously having fun and trying to get back at the guys with the topic, hence the use of "disgusting" instead of the "annoying". used in the previous thread made for girls.

I am sure that is really getting to them guys.

Abeg, its all just a simple thing, and its all fun.

You guys gave your views, and we are giving ours. No hard feelings guys, grin grin

Career / Re: How Do L Build An Execellent Career In Teaching by chinyere01: 10:23am On Sep 21, 2010
She should start teaching first. As she goes on by the first six months she would have known the direction she wants to take - younger children, older children, curriculum studies, etc
As she goes along she should also familiarise herself with the various teaching methods available (montessori, using all these new fancy teaching gadgets etc) , read the vacancies to see what the big schools look for in the teachers they want and if she doesn't have such certifications begin to acquire them. as this is going on she will be having experience under her belt. certifications and diplomas are sometimes useless if you don't have actual work experience.
she should also work on herself(if necessary) as most of these Britico type schools look for other qualities such as your diction, personality, looks , how knowledgeable and sound you are cos you will be teaching kids that are not your public school type so you need to be sharp with your knowledge and information.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Our Company Is Currently Recruiting ! by chinyere01: 10:06am On Sep 21, 2010
EBT has been around for a long time under may guises. when i knew them way back in the early 90's they were at Ojuelegba roundabout.
they are fraudsters. they actually send you to companies looking for your services but the catch is that they make you pay some money.
They give you a referral letter to the company which is no guarantee of employment and they can give this same referral for the same position to over 10 people. My colleagues sister paid N2,500 when she was given a referral only to get there and find out that there were 10 other candidates besides her - all from EBT who had parted with N2,500.

Career / Re: Is Witholding A New Employees First Salary Legal by chinyere01: 10:16am On Aug 27, 2010
I know that most employees are so desperate for a job that they don't question such things and then it ends up being accepted as legal because "everyone does it"
Career / Re: Is Witholding A New Employees First Salary Legal by chinyere01: 10:13am On Aug 27, 2010
which part of the labour law can that be found
Career / Is Witholding A New Employees First Salary Legal by chinyere01: 12:11pm On Aug 26, 2010
An organisation has a policy of withholding the first salary of its staff as collateral in the event of their leaving without notice. This is how it works: when you work somewhere you have to give notice and work during the notice( depending on your contract) or forfeit your salary. Some employees wait till they receive their paycheck at the end of the month and then drop their resignation and don't come back(i admit this is not right or professional)

It is to safeguard against this that some organisations have this policy. The idea is that if you don't give notice, no beef, the org. has your money but if you give notice, they refund your money.I'm told that even MTN does it.

I can understand if it is a job where the organisation gives you lots of goods to sell/handle etc - they normally ask for guarantors in such cases.

Dear nairalanders working in HR, my questions are:

1. is this legal
2. can it be found in any of our labour laws ( quote it for me if so)
3. do you know any major companies that do this.
