I'm astonished at Mrs. Annineh's response. If our 'leaders' are so quick to give in to their followers' pressure for them to steal money, how is it that they don't also give in when their followers ask them for the basic amenities of life life good health care, water, power, and safe roads? It's got nothing to do with the followers. Our 'leaders' have no idea of the concept of leadership grin That's the word - leadership: It evokes the picture of a ship captain who stands at the fore of the ship, giving direction to the rest of his crew! grin Those at the helms of the Nigerian ship have no clear focus or destination in mind, so rather than pilot the ship they are busy feeding fat on the provisions for the voyage. angry angry angry

I'm amazed this issue has sparked this much debate. Amazed, but intrigued by the response so far. We've swung from one divide to other, once again proving my initial contention - the problem with us is we've borrowed everything Western; hook, line and sinker!  shocked
A prominent bishop, televangelist and anti-gay preacher in the United States is currently facing allegations from three young men that he used his pastoral position to coerce them to have inappropriate sexual relationship with him; when they were in their teens. Pretty much the same picture with Adisa.  lipsrsealed
In the UK a former postman was sentenced to eight and half years in prison for using Facebook to groom and inciting children to commit sexual (recording them on webcam), and arranging to meet and actually have sex with some of them.  undecided
Man's primary deity has always been his passions; that is why we go to extremes to satisfy our cravings. In a state of nature where might is right, such devotion to selfish passions could be tolerated. But in a civil society where we have all agreed to put aside our individual cravings in favor of the common good, it cannot and will not.  cool
The message from the mob to Adisa is simply this: recourse to the god of the self drags everyone down the same path. As Sir Isaac Newton put it, 'To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction'. grin
Only God Almighty can arbitrate over the gay question, until He does I think I support the US Army policy, 'Don't ask, don't tell. But if we find out, you will get the boot'. grin grin grin
Ain't fair on the gays, I know - but since when was life fair!!! angry angry angry

Let's not get carried away here. Everyone's sexual preference is their own choice. Choice, being the operative word. Choice in sexual matters as in voting is precluded to persons under 18 (ala the Nigerian Constitution). It is not a question of religion or morality, but a question of rights. Those 17 year olds and their rights entitled them to being protected by adults like Adisa - he didn't do that by his actions. He abused those kids, by employing them as mere tools to satisfy his lusts.angry angry angry

While it is exciting that 9ja is integrating into the global village, it is sad to note that some such integration is of distorted bent. For goodness sake, even in societies where same-sex relationships are allowed it has to be between consenting adults. To think that a so-called man-of-the-cloth would lure youngsters into such an act is most annoying. In fact, I dey vex!!! angry angry angry

I think it's wonderful that IB's finally taking control of the reins of her life. She's one lady who's got great potentials, but had been held down by her self-destructive lifestyle. I guess now's time for her to spread her wings and fly. Way to go sis!!! grin
