So you want to take up contract job position with Sterling bank? You want to ruin your life? Except you are taking the job as a temporal measure, its advised that you apply directly for jobs. This contract job has destroyed many lives. You will never be promoted beyond Level 3, your colleagues who were patient and got direct offers will become BOs, SBOs and even BMs, some will have the chance to become EDs, GH and even MD, while you will never go beyond 3 promotions that add just N5000 at each level. After spending like four years, you will find it difficult getting another job in the industry as age will not be at your side. Your life will become miserable, you will see a permanent staff who just resumed and after 6 months is driving a car. You will be tempted to steal the bank money! The most callous part is that anybody can sack!!! You have received sufficient information to help.

Congratulations. Don't rely completely on this job as you may have just destroyed your future. This is why I said so; the bank may not need your service when you are 40 as they always want younger people in ur position. At that time, you may not be able to get another job and you would have gotten your own family. Your colleagues who were recruited directly would have become managers and moved higher up the ladder. So, take the job as a temporary one while you look for something better. Workforce is a contract job and not a career.

No wonder Sterling bank customer service is very poor. The Management has made their staff to be sharing their CVs to customers instead of attending to then. This is really embarrassing! But we got no choice. Who wants to remain a slave. I spend the time I am supposed to use to serve customers surfing the web searching for jobs, who lose, the management, because they will not get value for employing me. I just do my work without initiative nor tacts, I just do what I am told to do, that's all! At least before the set of people you recruited will come to a substantial level of skills, you would have paid dearly for it with customers rating which you claimed to value so much dropping to near 20%. The work place is now a nightmare, I just don't want to go back to that office the next day. I can't imagine the rational that makes someone coming into the system whom I will train to be receiving 204,000 monthly and having a future, while me the trainer will be collecting peanuts and with no prospect. Before you tell me to resign, i will resign. But we still have other 99% that will keep sabotaging the bank by poor service, till they do the right thing.

In sterling Ur pay is 204 gross. Before confirmation as an Executive trainee. Target is there but u will meet it since u have experience.

The situation is pathetic. My friend happens to be a victim. He told me of his experience in Sterling Bank. He said he was a full staff of Trainee grade and that not too long ago they (trainees) were asked to resign and re-apply for job through WORKFORCE. He said he did as they were told and since then ha had never enjoyed the job again. He said he does not take the job like before, if he sees anything not pertaining to his desk that he will keep quite even if the thing is not good for the bank. He said before, if customers have challenges he will do all his best to resolve it, but now, he will pretend as if he does not nkow what they are even talking about, that he can not go the extra mile again. He is always sad because he was looking forward to a bright future with the bank some day but now they have ruin it by making him a contract staff. He also said, he does not assist the Service Manager again, before, he was like a deputy to her, cos he could do 90% of the SM functions, now the poor woman is doing all the job alone. if she calls her, he will pretend as if he did not hear. To make matter worse, they brought an Executive Trainee (core staff) for him to train, that he has refused to train him. The new staff keep making mistake. The guy said he is not under obligation to train him since he is useless to the bank. The core staff earns around 204K monthly while he who is supposed to train him is earning 90k without any good prospect for the future. He ignored the guy and his SM, unfortunately, management in there ill advised wisdom did not know the consequence of there decisions. There was a time the CEMP had issues with her computer system, the technology guy could not be physically present because he was working in another branch, so he called that same guy that the bank had made useless to liaise with him to resolve the challenge because the guy is good on computer related stuff, unfortunately, my guy said he does not know what the the tech guy was talking about, meanwhile this was the same guy that helps to resolve minor issues like this before, so the CEMP could not make use of the computer till around 2pm when the tech guy came around.

no career. just job. while others can become managers in the future, they will drive you away because you are now past the age they use for the position you are occupying. you won't be able to get another job, because you don't have any skills apart from what you will be employed to do. have a plan or else you will waste ur most productive years with them.

Please I would like to know more about the contract job issue in banks, I had missed an interview with one of the outsourcing firms for banks(Workforce) some time ago and I have another interview with them on monday, from all I have been reading here about contract staff I mostly see "OND/HND" mentioned here, I have not seen much about a "B.Sc", I have a B.Sc and I would like to know the pay grade for B.Sc holders in the contract staff role.

Please, actual salary figures for various job roles for various banks for B.Sc contract staff would be very helpful.

If you are 28 or less be patient and get a direct employment. No career in contract. we were outsourced to workforce. I don't know exactly how much they pay.

This contract staff thing is pathetic! I was a full staff of a bank that is just entering the retail mass market. Just recently, they outsourced everyone of us on the derogatory trainee level, the reason they adduced was that staff on that grade level do not have HND and BSc. However, opportunity was not given to some of us with the said HND and BSc before the decision was taken, since the decision to outsource was based on the the fact that some staff do not have the required qualifications. I was looking forward to working in a specialized unit like FINCON where I can put my analytical mind into full use.I had gotten the application form a Masters program in UNILAG, but now, Busola and her team have messed up the whole thing. Gentlemen, I am searching for another job now, I cant continue as a contract staff, I did not join the bank as one at the beginning. I have worked on all the units in branch Operations- Cash & Teller, Customer Service and Funds transfer. I dont mind even a Relationship Officers position; I can bring in =N=50 Million in new deposit and I have more than 7 years experience.

I recommend Sterling bank, there are current accts that are COT free. No spurious charges, I have been with them since 2007.

The policy is a nice one, it is meant to encourage people who dont have a bank account because of valid means of ID card to be able to have one, but they will not have much money in the account since they did not provide a valid means of ID before opening it. However, if you want to have any amount in your account, then you have to provide a valid means of ID.

For the first time in my life, am happy with Jonathans decision. If he continues this line, am sure those who call him the Retardeen will no longer have reason to do so.

My salary remains the same, transport to and fro work has gone up, price of food have gone up, PHCN bill has increased, all this woman brought us is suffering.
