The former France international has been hit with a 90-day suspension by the world's governing body but he feels that the leak is designed to cause ill feeling towards himUefa president Michel Platini believes that Fifa is looking to ruin his reputation, with a provisional suspension by world football's governing body now confirmed.
The former France international is being investigated by authorities over a payment of £1.35 million received from Fifa almost a decade after carrying out some advisory work for the organisation.
And on Wednesday, an advisor revealed that Fifa president Sepp Blatter would be suspended for 90 days due to his part in the corruption scandal, with reports claiming that Platini would receive the same punishment quickly confirmed as the sanctions were announced later that morning.
But in a statement, Platini claims that the news of his imminent suspension was leaked so as to create ill feeling towards him ahead of his campaign to replace Blatter in February's presidential elections.
"It was reported last night that the investigatory chamber of the Fifa Ethics Committee intends to recommend to its adjudicatory chamber that I be given a 90-day suspension," the statement read.
"This is clearly an extremely serious matter – all the more so given that this information appears to have come from an official Fifa source, despite the fact that the Ethics Committee, which is supposed to act with full independence, has not yet issued its decision.
"This deliberate leak – which is insidious in nature and has come about in an unacceptable manner – is essentially an attempt to damage my reputation.
"Over the last few weeks, I have stressed my willingness to cooperate fully with the authorities carrying out the various enquiries in compliance with the strictest procedural rules. Fifa, on the other hand, has clearly flouted those rules.
"I have always acted and expressed myself with honesty, courage and candour, as I feel that this is my moral duty. If what is being reported regarding the intentions of the investigatory chamber of the Fifa Ethics Committee is indeed true, I will stop at nothing to ensure that the truth is known. Nobody should be in any doubt as to my determination to achieve that objective.
"In the meantime, a dispassionate, independent and impartial judicial body needs to shine a light on the events that led the Fifa Ethics Committee to open these investigatory proceedings.
"This morning I submitted the letters of support that are required in order to stand as a candidate for the presidency of Fifa. As I have always done since 2007, I will fulfil my obligations after consulting Uefa’s 54 member associations, which I will ask to convene shortly in Nyon.
"I will also meet with all the other confederations and Fifa’s member associations in the spirit of openness that has always characterised my actions.
"I am certain that we will overcome this difficulty with full transparency and the unity that gives football its strength."

Blatter, along with Uefa president Michel Platini and Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke, was suspended for 90 days on Thursday, following approval by Fifa's adjudicatory chamber of a recommendation made by the ethics committee.
The Swiss attorney general opened criminal proceedings against the 79-year-old last month into allegations that he signed an "unfavourable" television rights contract with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) in 2005 and made a "disloyal" payment to Platini in 2011.
The sanctions against Blatter can be extended by up to 45 days, a move that would effectively end his 17-year reign, given the Fifa congress where a long-term replacement will be chosen is scheduled for February 26 next year.
The 79-year-old has denied any wrongdoing and a statement released by his lawyers questioned the conduct of the Ethics Committee.
"President Blatter was disappointed that the Ethics Committee did not follow the Code of Ethics and Disciplinary Code, both of which provide for an opportunity to be heard," the statement read.
"Further, the Ethics Committee based its decision on a misunderstanding of the actions of the Attorney General in Switzerland, which has opened an investigation but brought no charge against the President.
"In fact, the prosecutors will be obliged by law to dismiss the case if their investigation, barely two weeks old, does not establish sufficient evidence.
"President Blatter looks forward to the opportunity to present evidence that will demonstrate that he did not engage in any misconduct, criminal or otherwise."

The record-capped Nigerian has called it quits with the national side after he was left humiliated by coach Sunday Oliseh on Tuesday
Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has pulled the curtain on his international career, 13 years after making his debut for the Super Eagles.
The record-capped goalkeeper was left humiliated by coach Sunday Oliseh at the team's camp on Tuesday and has now announced his retirement.
In a post on his Instagram account, Enyeama wrote passionately about his service to his fatherland and how it must now sadly come to an end following the events of recent days that have left the nation perplexed by the actions of the coach.
“I have fought a good fight for more than 13years. I have finished my course,I have kept the faith and sang the anthem with passion,” the 101-capped Enyeama began.
“Henceforth, there is laid for me a crown which only God can reward me for my 13years of national services.
“God bless Nigeria. Henceforth, I am no more the captain of the Nigeria senior football team, I am no more the goalie of the team, I am out of the team. I am no more available for international duties.
“I want to say thank you to every Nigerian fan and supporter world wide. It’s been the most trying period of my life but I know that Nigerians are there for me and God is with me. God bless Nigeria,” he concluded with the hashtag #ENDOFANERA.
Events leading to Enyeama’s untimely retirement started on on Tuesday when he was humiliated by Oliseh at the team’s camp in Belgium where they gathered to prepare for Thursday night’s international friendly against Congo.
The goalkeeper, who had just buried his mother on Saturday, arrived late to camp having been granted a little extra time, only to find that his place as captain had been unceremoniously stripped and handed to forward Ahmed Musa.
In an attempt to clear the air and speak to the coach during dinner, he was asked to stay quiet or leave camp.
Hotel security was called in to take him out of the team’s dining room before the president of the Nigeria Football Federation waded in and he was allowed to remain in camp.
On Wednesday, Enyeama posted about the humiliation he suffered and made allusions to his dead mother being insulted as the height of it.
Earlier in the year, Enyeama made his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles and reached 101 international appearances in June to surpass Joseph Yobo’s previous record.
Problems between him and Sunday Oliseh began in September when he asked to be withdrawn from the squad late ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania.
News emerged later that night that his mother had died.
Enyeama won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles and was heroic as the team got to the Round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup.
He holds the record for most Nigeria appearances at the World Cup having played in three tournaments and eight matches.
He made his debut at the 2002 World Cup in South Korea/Japan.

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini says he will not pay Luis Suarez any special attention in next month's Champions League final.
The Barcelona attacker and the Bianconeri centre-back are set to meet for the first time since the Uruguayan received a four-month ban for biting the 30-year-old Italian during a World Cup group match last summer.
Chiellini insists that the incident is firmly in the past and says he will not treat Suarez any differently to Real Madrid trio Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, whom he helped successfully nullify in the last four of the Champions League.
"It has been a week since we knocked out Real Madrid and people only ask me about Suarez," he told reporters.
"I bear no grudges. I have no problem with him. I will mark him the way I did Benzema, Ronaldo, Bale or any other striker, so there's nothing different about it.
"The only thing that disappointed me that time was going out of the World Cup."
Chiellini added that nothing was more important than the match against Barcelona on June 6: "It's a special game. It's been far too long since we won the European Cup."
Before their meeting in Berlin, Juventus face Lazio in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday and the former Fiorentina man is hoping to complete a domestic double before switching his attention to Barca.
"It’s a special final because Juventus haven’t won this trophy for a long time," he stated. "I’ve been here for 10 years and in all this time we’ve got to just one Coppa Italia final and the fact we lost it still rankles.
"Winning this one is really important to us and our thoughts are exclusively on the game.
"Our strength has always been our ability to take things one game at a time. We’ll focus on tomorrow’s game and try to win, then we’ll shift our attentions to the match on June 6, but there’s still a long way to go before you can talk about a possible treble.

"He’s put in consistent displays and his explosion on to the scene has enabled Lazio to make an important step up.

According to the family, she died in a London hospital on Wednesday, October 1st. The family made this known in a statement released today.
It reads thus: “With gratitude to Almighty Allah and with heavy hearts we announce the demise of our daughter Yewande Semiat Bankole aged seven years at a London hospital.
“Yewande is the granddaughter of Chief Alani Suara Bankole and the daughter of Rt Hon. Dimeji Sabur Bankole. Yewande was born with HbSS Sickle cell disease. She was a radiant girl who struggled with the disease. “We originally managed her condition at a Lagos hospital but later she was transferred to a London hospital.
Sadly we lost her at 10.30pm on Wednesday October 1st, 2014.
Her remains will be buried according to Islamic rites. “We wish to thank you for your prayers and support at this very trying time. May Almighty Allah make our affairs easy.”

The Nigeria military has reacted to the purported Boko Haram video released earlier today where Shekau or his fake said he was still alive.

The military insists that he was killed last month and that the video is fake.

The Defence Headquarters is studying the claims made in the video purportedly released by the terrorists showing their leader Abubakar Shekau as dismissing his death.

From immediate observation and what some online news outlets claimed to have seen, the video did not indicate when it was shot neither did it show any proof of life or currency such as screen time or date.

The video also did not make any reference to anything that has happened since the impostor’s reported death. It is also noteworthy that the air plane said to be mentioned in the video had been missing before he was killed.

It should not surprise anybody if the terrorists decide to manipulate pictures, clone another Shekau or upload a pre-recorded video all in a bid to prove invincible. As far as we are concerned, the individual who was appearing in video and claiming to be the leader of the terrorist group was killed in the Kondunga battle in September.

The resemblance of the corpse and that of the eccentric character was incontrovertible.

His identity was equally corroborated by people who knew him before we announced his death. So, while waiting to see the new video before any further statement, our message to them is that justice will be served to whoever bears that name or designation and whoever engages in act.
