Politics / We Have Very Weak Set Of Governors In Southeast By Henry Okonkwo by Collins2028(m): 6:39am On Aug 30, 2020 |
.Says “we have very weak set of
governors in Southeast”
Henry Okonkwo
Foremost nationalist and elder
statesman, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi,
has expressed fears over the
increasing clamour for the South East
region to produce the president in
2023.
In this interview, the vocal First
Republic Aviation Minister spoke on
the need for the Igbo to reconcile
with the North if they want to
brighten their chances of clinching the
number one position. He also decried
the brazen killing of Ndigbo in their
state by security, alluding that the
killers are emboldened by the set of
‘weak governors’ the region has.
Excerpt:
What’s your take on the recent clash
at Enugu between members of IPOD
and the police?
I really don’t know much about that
because I haven’t got the details. I
cannot say because for example, some
delegations that met at my house,
alongside the President of Ohanaeze
youths who were part of the team
told me that it was not IPOB that was
involved in the clash. I learned that it
was another group with a different
designation. And that they assembled
to say prayers and hold their meeting
when some security men went to
attack and dispersed them. But the
group defended themselves. Now the
scuffle had already finished when
more men in uniform arrived at the
scene and started shooting anybody
they saw. That was what the
Ohanaeze youths told me. So I really
don’t know what happened. But I
have told IPOB that they must never
resort to violence. It is their cardinal
policy, but that does not mean that
when a lion comes to attack you that
you should not defend yourself the
best you can. The scenario happened
at Oraifite and they defended
themselves, that was IPOB, but I
don’t know much about the killing
at Enugu because IPOB says it’s not
them. It is quite sad because these
security officials believe that they can
kill the Igbo without anybody asking
any question. And this continues to
happen because we have a very weak
set of governors in the Southeast.
The politicking of 2023 is already
heating up, what do you make of the
whole frenzy and clamour for a
president of Igbo extraction?
2023 is crucial to the unity and
existence of Nigeria, particularly as the
Igbo are concerned. If Nigeria accepts
to elect an Igbo president of Nigeria,
then we will be there to work for
Nigeria. We worked for the
independence of Nigeria more than
any other section of the country, so,
we’ll be there to work., but if in
2023, they still think that Ndigbo
should be treated as slaves or second
class citizens of Nigeria, then the Igbo
would give a second thought to their
being in Nigeria. We’ll give a second
thought to it. It’s not going to be
easy because it’s not going to be
violent. We’ve tried it with violence
with Biafra, it did not work, but this
time new strategies have to be
worked out. And that is the essence of
the Ohanaeze/ IPOB arrangement
which was made in my house. We
intend to work for 2023. But if in 2023,
Nigeria rejects us, then we have to
resort to the Igbo saying that Onye
ajuru anaghi aju onwe ya ( He that is
rejected doesn’t reject himself ). But
we hope it will never get to that. I
personally hope it will never get to
that because we are working to be in
Nigeria, and to be fully part of Nigeria.
There are great political, economic,
military, and power advantages in
being a big country. If we have a
corrupt system today, that does not
mean that it would not come to pass.
The world is moving around,
everything moves and comes around.
Looking back at your time, the Igbo
played better politics than our present
crop of politicians. Do you agree to
this notion, particularly in the ability
of the Ndigbo to woo other regions?
In our time we were nationalists. we
fought for independence. Nigerians
handed us power, and we continued
to rule as nationalists without
expecting any gain. We only thought
of the best we can give to Nigeria, not
what we can get out of Nigeria. We
only thought of how to make Nigeria
the best in Africa, and have a country
that can challenge the big countries of
Europe and Asia, until the military
struck in 1966. The Igbo were edged
out because of certain political
mistakes by military rulers in those
days that led to war. But from
indication so far, a great majority of
Nigerian people who are reasonable
are seeing the justice in our case, and
I believe we are going to have a
favourable result, but to have
favourable results, the Igbo would
have to work for it, nobody would
dash you independence on a platter,
you have to work, strategize, plan,
scheme; you have to do everything
possible to get it. You take political
power, it’s not given and I can tell
you that we are working on that.
I’m making my little experience
available to our people. God has placed
me in that father position, kept me
alive, and prepared me. I didn’t
know that was why God was
preparing me for when it was raised
to become the engine room of the
NCNC politically. I was the party’s
principal organising secretary, and
master of strategy and politics. Also,
God thereafter made me pass through
governance and politics of Nigeria,
both inside and outside the
government, both in politics and
outside politics. And so God has taken
a long time to train me for this. I
didn’t know that was going on in
the minds of God, and He has spared
me; at the age of 91 going to 92, I am
still able to go to work in my factory, I
drive myself within my compound and
around the village. I don’t drive
outside, not that I can’t, but I just
want to do it that way. God has given
me reasonable good health. My real
trouble is Rheumatism and waist pain.
and recently in 2017, I’ve been
having problems in my heart, but at
every stage when the thing is about
to come, God says ‘no it’s not yet
time’, and so I thank God. Now, I
realised that God has an assignment
for me, and I’m not going anywhere
until I have accomplished that for
Ndigbo and for Nigeria.
What if this whole 2023 project fails,
and the presidential seat is not given
to the Igbo, does that mean that
Southeast leaders and groups would
now back IPOB’s clamour for Biafra?
The present IPOB may not be what
would emerge if Ndigbo is not given a
chance in 2023. We are not asking to
be given the position, we are asking to
be given a level playing ground, that is
all. So, the present IPOB organisation
is not the plan of Ndigbo in 2023 if we
fail in our objective. But I’m
confident that we would not fail
because of the reactions I get from
the North. The thing is that the Igbo
lost a chance when they allowed
themselves to be edged out from the
North. No politician in Nigeria can
succeed nationally and particularly as
far as the office of the 0resident is
concerned without the North. The
nlNorth is a very powerful section of
this country both in population,
experience, and positions. And each
time the Igbo work with the North
there was peace in Nigeria. But each
time the Igbo and the North break
away crisis comes. That was our
experience after the coup, even after
the civil war. In the Shehu Shagari
government, the original plan which I
made with Osadebe and R.B.K Okafor,
was for a Zik (Nnamdi Azikiwe) and
Shagari ticket. I led the delegation
while Shagari led the delegation from
the North and we always met in Lagos.
The northern delegation comprised
Shattima Ali Monguno and Sunday
Awoniyi, and my delegation comprised
Osadebe and myself; we worked out
an agreement that Zik would be the
presidential candidate in 1979, and
Shagari would be his running mate. We
also agreed with the man from the
northern side that Zik would work for
one term and step aside. And so we
asked Zik to accept that agreement
because by the time he has done one
term he would be about 87 or so, and
we thought that would be the
appropriate time to resign. But
suddenly people like Jim Nwobodo and
others came into the thing with their
own ambition. They went and
deceived Zik and told him to come to
NPP that they would push him
through as president. However, Zik
realised his mistakes after the election
when he lost the presidential
elections. He then agreed again to
work with the North by NPP and NPN
forming a coalition government,
sharing offices. This continued until
1983 when Awolowo and others went
to Nwobodo, Mbakwe, and said that
they are progressives. And the North
and the East fell out again till the 1983
coup. So, each time we were together,
there was peace in the country. Any
section that wants to rule this country
must recognise the importance of the
North. And the North must not take
undue advantage of this importance
God has given them by population and
spread, they must also recognize that
there is reciprocity in the whole thing.
It should be a matter of give and take,
and then there would be peace.
So, my advocacy is that there should
be peace and I want to take the Igbo
back to reconciliation. Right now, the
Igbo have no quarrel with the Yoruba
or the South-south people. It would
appear that the North is where the
problem lies, and I want to lead the
Igbo to effect a reconciliation with the
North so that we can all have a whole
happy family of Nigeria – North, East,
West, and South, all united in peace
and fraternal love and unity, that is
what I want to work on, even though
I’m working mostly from my home
because I can’t do much travelling,
but most meetings are now held in my
house and people come here for
regular consultations.
Political watchers always raise
concerns about the antecedents of
Ndigbo and their knack to refuse to
step down for one another. They cite
example at what happened in 1999,
where many believed that Alex
Ekwueme stood a better chance to get
block votes from the Southeast zone
against Obasanjo at the PDP primaries,
but Jim Nwododo joined the race. And
this divided their votes. So do you
foresee duplicity of Igbo candidates?
Do you nurse fears of betrayal by the
Easterners themselves?
That is a reality in politics. in politics,
you expect disappointments,
betrayals, disloyalties, opportunism,
careerism. So, these are the things you
find in politics. So, I will not be
surprised if as we go along there are
betrayals, disappointments. As Zik told
us, that in Nigerian society,
particularly Igbo society, if you want
to attend an area with 10 people, by
the time you get there, if you look
back, about three or four at least have
dropped off on the way. But it
won’t stop you from going to where
you are going to. Nwobodo betrayed
Ekwueme at that time, but also
don’t forget that at that time the
military who were handing over, and
who was handling everything wanted
to compensate the Yoruba for
Abiola’s issue. So, Obasanjo was the
favoured one. |
Business / Power Sector Corruption Practices by Collins2028(m): 1:57pm On Aug 26, 2020 |
All the money we have spent on the
power sector, it is a very shameful
thing that a country as big as Nigeria
cannot boast of a stable 5000
megawatt of power, while serious
countries are talking about 100s of
thousands megawatt to million
megawatts.
Today's news has it that we are set to
spend another $6,150,000,000 on the
power that we may never have.
Where exactly do all these funds go to
that we are yet to see any meaningful
result?
It is a shameful thing that with an
estimated 200 million people, a nation
that hypothetically parades itself as a
giant of Africa can not boast of
100,000 megawatts of power (100
Gigawatts) in 2020 and 21st century.
Please our leaders, are you people just
being foolishly wicked or cluelessly
confused?
At what time, will Nigerian
administrators, in all honesty, declare
a state of emergency in our power
sector and do right by the people?
Though we cannot say we have
recorded an overly impressive
breakthrough in telecommunication, at
least we can say we have passed a
required average. Can we at least
record same commendable
achievement in our power sector?
The money we budget for power
every year for the past 20 years,
which in turn gets looted is enough to
give Nigeria not less than 500,000
megawatts of power by now, if our
leaders were, to be honest, and
accountable enough to us.
Do you just budget this money and
share it among yourselves, or what?
Why must we invest trillions of naira
every year towards solving a problem,
yet the problem refuses to go away?
Please be truthful to us, what are you
doing with our money? |
Religion / Prayer Of A Woman Who Lost Her Husband Few Months After Her Wedding. by Collins2028(m): 12:03pm On Aug 26, 2020 |
Recently, I was told of a woman who
lost her husband few months after
their wedding.
She returned from work only to find
uninvited guests, wearing gloomy
faces gathered at her residence.
She stood puzzled for a while and
further decided to make inquiries.
All the efforts of her family and
friends to temporarily keep the news
away from her proved abortive as she
was firm on knowing what had gone
wrong.
On hearing the news of her husband's
demise, she walked confidently into
the room where the corpse of her
husband laid, Knelt beside him,
brought out a book and started to
converse with God.
After a while her dead husband came
back to life. He actually had no other
option but to live, as his wife was
bent on praying him back to life.
One would be tempted to think that
the book she brought out was a magic
book or a "super power" book.
Apparently, that was the book where
she had documented her covenant
with God at the place of prayer, as a
young spinster.
One of which was the fact that she
did not want to become widowed
early in life. She had signed a covenant
with God and the God I know will
never break a covenant ." *My
covenant will I not break, nor alter the
thing that is gone out of my lips"*
Can I ask you a question?
What agreement have you made with
God, concerning your life and destiny
at the place of prayer?
Do you just accept anything that
comes your way and describe it as
"fate"?
The life of a Christian is not
determined by fate, it is determined
by Faith. *".... now the just shall live by
his faith".*
It is not determined by simple
coincidence, it is determined by
supernatural commands/confessions.
*"....you shall have whatever you
say"*
*"....you shall decree a thing and it
shall be established"*
It is also determined by how much we
appropriate the written word of God
into our lives at the place of prayer
and covenant.
Guess what?
You do not need to be "overly
anointed" before you stop any
rubbish in your life and family. All you
need do is to bring forth your strong
reasons.
Each time we remind God of his
covenant, we bring him to a position
where he has no other option but to
help us.
Prayer is not all about asking God for
bread and butter, it also entails
striking mysterious deals with God.
I ask you again, what deal have you
made with God?
What is the "strong reason" that you
intend to bring forth when the need
arises?
The deal in this context is not in any
way an abstract deal or agreement. In
law, you do not strike an important
deal without documenting it, that
would be tantamount to striking no
deal. There has to be a written
evidence.
Our agreement with God should be
clearly documented and preserved like
a fully loaded gun waiting for the day
to fire.
"I am just a lady". So what?
A woman was able to bring her
husband back to life not because she
had a special anointing but because
she brought forth her strong reasons.
Adapt the act of making terrible
covenant with God at the place of
prayers and be careful to note them
down, as this serves as an evidence
and helps to keep you at alert, should
you by any means opt to fate.
Prayer is not an option, it is a
necessity, a praying woman is a
powerful woman, stop receiving every
trash that life gives you, bend that
knees so that you can stand tall.
We are not the victim of
circumstances, we are the prayer
breeds, we pray our way to destiny
and fulfillment.
No room for satan's rubbish in my life,
I am not giving in to fate, I make the
decree, I call the shots by the power
of the Holy ghost in me.
I do not care if prayer seem like a
burden to people, I do not care if
people think I am praying too much, I
do not care if I have even prayed
before, I do not care if my body seem
not corporate, Anyhow, I will pray and
continue to pray, I will pray until every
single word of my mouth becomes
prayer, I will pray until every creature
in heaven gets used to my voice, I will
pray until my sleeping time turns to
prayer time, I will pray until my life is
in aligned, I will pray until my family is
in order, I will pray until Nigeria is
changed, I will pray until the world is
revived, I will pray until impossibilities
begin to bow before me, I will pray
until I have sufficient grace, I will pray
until I am a walking fire, I will pray
until I become a golden vessel, I will
pray until I finally see his face.
I don't know of you? Will you pray |
Jobs/Vacancies / Does It Mean That Gifmis System Is Corrupt by Collins2028(m): 9:54am On Aug 26, 2020 |
Does it mean that GIFMIS system is
corrupt:
This is the question that comes to
mind going by the comments of the
Minister of Humanitarian affairs &
Disaster Mgt. Ms Umar Sadiq Farouq,
concerning the ordeals of about
12,000 N-power beneficiaries whose
accounts were allegedly flagged by
the system because their names were
already in the payroll of some MDAs.
One may be tempted to know the
criteria that the system employed in
verifying who is a genuine
beneficiaries and who is not. Did the
system rely on names of beneficiaries
or their Bank Verification Numbers?
Going by this half-truth, one wonders
how this name-proof reading system
failed to flag the accounts of many
colleagues who are federal workers in
some federal institutions who are also
beneficiaries in the scheme.
This goes on to corroborate the fact
that some beneficiaries are already
working in MDAs and had taken undue
advantage of the former REMITA
payment system. It is important to say
here that many genuine N-power
beneficiaries cutting across the 36
states of the federation both in Batch
A and B who were never employed by
any MDAs be it state or federal were
victims of this fraudulent GIFMIS
system.
When these beneficiaries protested
both online and in persons, they were
told by the ministry that investigation
has been launched to find out what
really caused the account flagging
since March 2020. Till this day nothing
has been heard of it, suggesting that
all the victims are workers in MDAs as
claimed by the minister.
It is important to note here that the
GIFMIS system was introduced to
check fraud and ghost workers in
government agencies but the system
has failed in the case of this N-power
scheme as it has not only inflicted
untold hardship on genuine
beneficiaries but has made them to
believe that everything in Nigeria is
corrupt.
Remember that this event happened
when the whole world was in a
lockdown and majority of these
beneficiaries depended on this stipend
as the only means of survival.
Many has moved on with life against
all odds comforted by the fact that
the ministry had already announced
the disengagment of the two batches
in June and July 2020 and subsequent
recruitment of Batch C.
But the questions here begging for
answers are: will those victims of
GIFMIS migration get justice as per the
4 and 5 months backlog of stipends
not paid to Batch A and B respectively
because of this fraudulent system?
How long is enough to finish the
purported investigation by the
ministry? What is the fate of these
beneficiaries when it comes to exit
packages and transitions as
enunciated by the ministry?
Conclusively, it is important to note
that the numerous achievements of
the Social Investment Programme
under this government cannot be
overemphasized as many youth had
established themselves through this
scheme and are now employers of
labour. But it is also good to say that
what is good for the goose is also
good for the gander.

Jobs/Vacancies / Lesson From My Primary School Days Learnt From Teachers by Collins2028(m): 10:14am On Aug 25, 2020 |
During my primary school years,
The teachers were given car loans &
many of them bought a brand new
Golf4.
They were to pay back the loan over 4
years.
However, one of the teachers Mrs orji
Cecilia (my class teacher) took half of
the money the others took as loan.
Bought a fairly used car & got a driver.
So, when other teachers would drive
to school & park their brand new cars,
her driver would drop her off in the
morning & come pick her at closing.
I could remember how other teachers
laugh at her, calling her "Acting Big
Madam" because she got a driver.
But she'd just smile.
One day, one of the teachers had
cause to go out of the school during
school hours. She returned to report
that she saw his colleague's driver
using her car as a taxi!
When they "reported" her driver to
her, she said she was aware- that was
why she hired a driver.
Why park a car for 6-8 hours, when it
can be making money for you?
The other teachers were stunned:
suddenly, she didn't look as stupid as
they thought!
Now, because of the extra income
from using her car as a taxi, she was
able to pay back the loan in a year...
By the 2nd year, she bought a 2nd car
to add to her taxi fleet.
By the 3rd year, she bought 2 more
taxis!
By the 4th year when others finished
paying their loans, this woman had 6
taxis.
Then she bought a brand new Golf,
the newer model!
Other cars were 4 years old.
One among the teachers said indeed I
have realised who was smart & who
was foolish among all of us
This happened 2004-2008
Lol,I was born in , in the midst of this.

Young people don't seem to
understand discretion: the
competition to outdo each other in
the "I've arrived" ranking is just too
much.
Before the arrival of the pandemic
diseases covid-19 My niece, an
undergraduate asked me to buy her a
phone.
I asked what type does she want: she
mentioned a type, I checked the price:
#170,000
Now, I use Teckno cannon C8 of
#30,00/ thereabouts- it was even a
gift by Nigeria breweries since 2014
and still looking brand new and it
serves till date.
But this 17-year-old girl wants to use
a 170k phone!
Something is definitely wrong
somewhere...!
Seriously, we can't continue like this.
I mean we can't continue this way,
I am afraid for the younger
generation, those aged 6-25. I
honestly don't know what this world
would be like when they are in their
30s & 50s.
God's mercy is all we ask.
In addition:
"A foolish man will enjoy a perfect
today & lose a perfect tomorrow.
A wise man will forfeit a perfect today
to gain a perfect tomorrow.

Religion / Mental Slavering In Nigeria by Collins2028(m): 10:48pm On Aug 21, 2020 |
They registered you as a member of
OIC ( organization of Islamic
Countries), you accepted it without
complaining.
They insert Arabic on army logo, you
did no protest.
They insert Arabic words into your
naira, you overlooked it.
They put sharia law into your
constitution, you said no problem.
They abolished history and introduced
Islamic studies in your schools, you
accepted it wholeheartedly.
But once a star of David was
mentioned in our Biafra flag, you
quickly remembered that you're not a
Jew. That you don't like Jewish symbol.
But when you want to pray, you call

ending it with "in Jesus name.

Jobs/Vacancies / 7 Reason Why Degree Holders Are Poor by Collins2028(m): 4:31am On Aug 19, 2020 |
7 REASONS WHY DEGREE HOLDERS ARE
POOR?
1. THEY DON’T THINK BEYOND THEIR
CERTIFICATES.
Albert Einstein said, “Education is not
the learning of facts, but the training
of the mind to think.” Have you ever
heard creativity term “Think outside
the box”? One of the major reasons
why most graduates are poor is simply
because they can’t see and think
beyond their certificates.
I have seen engineering students
work as bankers. I have seen medical
doctors with great skills in web and
graphic designs. I have seen lawyers
that are very dexterous with finances.
The list is endless!
The basic truth of life is that the skills
that are needed to be much sought
after and become more successful in
life are not really found within the
walls of the classrooms. Your
certificate is just a proof that you are
teachable, it does not suggest what
you are totally capable of doing. You
are full of possibilities when you think
beyond your degrees and certificates.
2. THEY PRIORITIZE THEIR CERTIFICATES
MORE THAN THEIR GIFTS AND TALENTS.
I have often advised some of my
colleagues, never to leave their gifts
dormant while pursuing and hunting
for jobs with their certificates. There
must be a complementary balance in
the pursuit of your passion and in the
search for jobs.
Everybody is gifted for something, but
the winning edge comes from our
ability to work on our gifts and bless
the world with it. The very best way
to develop yourself is in the direction
of your natural talents and interest. In
order to live a fulfilled and impactful
life, we need to work harder on our
gift than our job. We need to discover
our gift, develop it, and sell it. Don’t
bury your TALENT with your
certificates.
3. THEIR CERTIFICATES PREPARE THEM
FOR A WORLD THAT NO LONGER EXIST.
It has been found that most of the
skills taught in schools are becoming
obsolete in the present world. The
world has changed a lot, and so are
people’s need! It is imperative to
know that the present form of
university education does not prepare
students for the future.
Graduates are becoming endangered
species in the face of a changing
world. Our archaic methods and
approaches of learning are preparing
graduates for a world that no longer
exist, as we are churning out degree
holders every year with certificates
that have face value but no intrinsic
worth. Most learning institutions are
filled up with lecturers and pseudo-
educators with lecture notes, methods
and approaches that have lost
relevance in a changing world.
4. THEY KNOW LESS ABOUT THEMSELVES
BUT MORE ABOUT THINGS.
Certificates and degrees don’t reveal
people to themselves; they at most
measure our IQ (Intelligent Quotient).
I have often tell people that there is
no Recovery without Discovery. A poor
man is simply someone that has not
discovered himself.
The more you discover yourself, the
more you realize the treasures that
are hidden deep within you. We carry
inside ourselves latent treasures that
can only be unveiled through self-
discovery.
5. CERTIFICATES AND DEGREES CAN KILL
INITIATIVES.
Degrees and certificates can close up
your minds to ideas while initiatives
open it up. If you are not careful, your
degrees and certificates can close up
your mind. The purpose of education
is to keep your mind perpetually
opened towards limitless possibilities!
Fred Smith saw an opportunity for
overnight delivery of anything
anywhere in the USA, and ultra- fast
delivery anywhere in the world, FedEx
was born. It will be interesting to
know that Fred Smith got a grade
“C” in a Yale economics class for an
idea that the professor belittled as
unworkable.
Fred Smith’s company became the
first American business to make over
ten billion dollars in annual profit.
Beginning with just 186 packages
delivered the first night, FedEx now
delivers in over two hundred countries
using over 6,030 aircraft, 46,000
vehicles and 141,000 employees.
6. DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES POSITION
YOU TO LOOK FOR JOBS AND NOT FOR
OPPORTUNITIES.
Our certi
ficates and degrees prepare graduates
to look for jobs and not open our eyes
to life-changing opportunities. You are
not poor because you don’t have a
job; you are poor because you are not
seeing and seizing opportunities.
Being POOR is simply Passing Over
Opportunities Repeatedly! What keeps
people ahead in life is not their
education or degrees, it is simply the
opportunity that they seized. Jobs
may be scarce but not opportunities.
As long as there is a problem to be
solved, there will always be
opportunities. It is a waste of our
education, exposure, and experiences
if after we graduate from school, all
we think about is searching for a job.
An enlightened and educated mind
should be able to see and seize
opportunities.
7. CERTIFICATES AND DEGREES PREPARE
PEOPLE TO LOOK FOR SECURITY AND NOT
TO TAKE RISKS.
We must be willing to make mistakes
and take breakthrough risks. Taking
risks and learning from mistakes help
us in knowing what works and what
does not! When Thomas Edison was
being questioned by a mischievous
journalist on how he felt for having
failed for 999 times before getting the
idea of the light bulb, his response
stunned the whole world when he
confidently said, “I have not failed
999 times, I have only learned 999
ways of how not to make a light
bulb”.
Many graduates and degree holders
are becoming progressively poor
because the skills required in the
modern world to get rich are not
taught in schools and institutions.
By 2025, we’ll lose over five million
jobs to automation. This means that
future jobs will look vastly different
by the time many people graduate
from the university.
*Future jobs will involve KNOWLEDGE
PRODUCTION/CREATION* and
innovation, and people that are only
equipped with skills found in the
classroom will definitely be a misfit in
an ever-changing world. Skills like
critical thinking, creativity, people’s
skill, STEM skills (e.g Coding), complex
problem-solving skills etc. are central
to living a more comprehensive and
productive life.
*8 THEREFORE,* in conclusion, My
humble and candid advice to
graduates and students in institutions
is to think wide, deep and outside the
box. Take volunteer jobs, and don’t
be afraid to navigate fields that are
different from your field of learning.
Your future career will require you to
pull information from many different
fields to come up with creative
solutions to future problems.
Start by reading as much as you can
about anything and everything that
interests you. Once you get to college,
consider double majoring or minoring
in completely different fields. Trust
me, it’ll pay off in the long run.
Don’t limit yourself to the
classroom. Do something practical.
Take a leadership position. Start a
business and fail; that’s a better
entrepreneurship. Contest an election
and lose. It will teach you something
political science will not teach you.
Attend a seminar. Read books outside
the scope of your course.
Think less of becoming an excellent
student, but think more of becoming
an excellent person. Don’t make the
classroom your world, but make the
world your classroom. Step forward
and try something extra.
Invest in something you believe! Real
financial security and freedom is not
in your job, but in your passion, gifts,
talents, and your ability to see and
seize opportunities.

Jobs/Vacancies / N-power Disengagement by Collins2028(m): 6:46pm On Aug 17, 2020 |
A RADICAL APPROACH OR I GIVEUP
Are you also wondering why Buhari is
silent over the disengagement of
beneficiaries? Are you wondering
where Osibanjo is and his position on
this issue? Have you asked the
question whether Buhari is aware of
all these?
Or you are wondering why sadiya
seems to be so powerful, and if there
is somebody who could call her to
order to reconsider her position on
the fate of beneficiaries?
My dear, you are on your own at this
present state of the Buhari's
administration. This whole
administration is one big scam. The
biggest political scam in the history of
this country called Nigeria.
Buhari is not aware of anything
happening around him or in Nigeria.
They are only using his name and
picture for their selfish ends. Those
who call themselves the presidency
and members of FEC are all ogas on
their own.
All they will tell the public is that, we
submitted our findings and
recommendations to the president,
and after carefully going through it,
he approved this and that. They are
the members of the cabal that makes
up the presidency. This country is
doomed.
In Nigeria, we don't even have a
President, we only have presidency.
That's why all we hear is presidency
said this, presidency said that.
Who is the presidency?
Unlike other countries were we have
active and competent leaders who are
alive to their responsibilities, where
you will always hear references made
to statements and actions of
Presidents and Prime Ministers, what
we have in Nigeria is THE PRESIDENCY.
Whatever decision they make, the
arrogant Adesina will be asked to
publish it, and we say it's from the
presidency.
What I know is that a cabal is a small
group of people who are involved in
secret plans to get political power.
Instead of a presidential system, we
are practicing CABALISM in Nigeria.
Don't ask me the meaning, because
I've not even seen it anywhere. The
CABAL is what they mean by THE
PRESIDENCY in the Nigerian polity. In
other words, THE PRESIDENCY is
nothing but the cabal claimed to
surround the ceremonial president in
the person of Buhari.
There is no president in this country,
and the vice president that is
supposed to the alive to his
responsibilities has been rendered
politically handicapped.
Any aggrieved person or group of
persons that is directing their
grievances to the president or vice
president on account of
mismanagement or maltreatment
gotten from any of the ministers and
other political appointees is just
wasting their time, because it will
never go beyond their desks. They
have no autonomous leader that they
are subordinate to outside them.
If you like, go and visit the vice
president at home and enquire from
him, his position on the
disengagement of Npower
beneficiaries without an exit package,
I bet you, you will be disappointed to
discover that, this same man that was
part of the brain behind the whole
program, is entirely helpless on this
issue. There is absolutely nothing he
can do about this issue.
They have not created a single job
opportunity for the youths out of the
10 million jobs they promised. The
youths of Nigeria who mobilized
support for his first and second term
are anxiously waiting to be employed.
The Npower programme which is part
of the social investment and the only
notable achievement of the Buhari's
administration in terms of job creation
and human empowerment has faced
serious setbacks since the transfer of
the scheme from the Vice President's
office to the Ministry for Humanitarian
Affairs , Disaster Management and
Social Development. It is now a total
disaster. Another scam that is
gradually unfolding itself is the issue
of the batch C beneficiaries. What a
planless woman yet full of evil plans
for selfish ends.
Again, It is totally an unreasonable
and regrettable directive by the
presidency for the Ministry of
Humanitarian affairs, Disaster
Management and Social Development
to continue with the implementation
of home grown school feeding
programme when the children were at
home. Whose children was she feeding
when all schools were short down due
to the pandemic that consumed over
600b naira in less than two months.
What about the over 250b naira she
used for palliatives just within that
short period of time. It is needles to
talk about corrupt practices and
mismanagement as all these matters
are dead on arrival because she is not
in it alone. It is crystal clear that the
creation of this ministry and it's
programs were entirely meant to
create an opportunity for Sadiya Umar
Farouq, the minister in charge of the
ministry and her cohorts to suck the
nation's wealth in the name of feeding
the school children.
If beneficiaries make the mistake of
giving up, as some are already saying
that nothing good will come out our
leaders, and that we should forget
this struggle for permanency or exit
package and move on, that will be the
end of the matter. Sadiya is also
expecting it to get to that point. A
forward ever and backward never
mentality is what is required from all
beneficiaries.
Even if there were to be an active
president in the country, this woman
can never say or do anything to
protect the interest of the
beneficiaries placed under her care.
The most unfortunate situation in this
country is the fact that all the
members of the federal executive
council FEC and all federal political
appointees are working together to
keep this country under their control
till 2023. Hence, there is just no body
right now that beneficiaries will run
to, that can call this woman to order
and reconsider her position on their
fate.
It is time to approach this issue in a
more radical manner. The only
language they seem to understand
and respond quickly to is VIOLENCE.
This is a golden opportunity that the
youths of this country have to right
some of the wrongs of our selfish
leaders that have, so far, undermined
the place of the youths in this
country.
I am now ready for whatever that will
even shake the very foundation of
this country, even if it means
destroying this country called Nigeria.
If we do not engage this in a more
radical manner, then count me out of
any peaceful protest, because nobody
is ready to take this matter serious. I
see nothing good coming out of this
Buhari administration for npower
beneficiaries, whose minister in charge
does not even like the very idea of the
program in this first place, but is only
managing it so as to create a fortune
for herself and her colleagues.
I have watched and observed this
woman, her body language, speeches
and general attitude towards issues
pertaining to beneficiaries' wellbeing,
and all I see from her is hatred hatred
and hatred. I will Rather fold my arms,
just like the way most Nigerians are
known for doing, when nothing good
seems to be coming out of an
administration and wait for the next
in 2023 or better still, leave it to God
to fight for us, Insha Allah (After all,
we are only good at fighting for God
over religious matters only to ask God
to fight for us when it comes to our
rights) Rubbish, I hate nonsense 5 Likes |

*Youth Engagement for Sustainable
National Development*
*by Dr. Laz Ude Eze*
_A keynote speech for the
International Youth Day (12th August)
2020 event organized by the National
Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and
the Federal Ministry of Sports and
Youth Development at thepalace of
the Ooni of Ife, Ile Ife, Osun State,
Nigeria. Delivered by Dr Laz Ude Eze –
a public health policy and management
specialist, sustainable development
consultant, Founder of the African
Youth Initiative on Population, Health
and Development (AfrYPoD) and
National Strategy Team Member of the
Not Too Young To Run Movement._
Greetings with observance of
protocols.
It gives me a great joy to stand before
the distinguished persons gathered
here today to speak on an issue I am
very passionate about – Youth and
Sustainable Development! My first time
at the Ooni’s Palace was in 2006
when we were led by Dr. Tokunbo
Awe who was the President of the
Nigerian Medical Students’
Association (NiMSA) to pay homage to
the Ooni. I was then the Ag. President
of the Federation of African Medical
Students Associations (FAMSA) and we
were at the Obafemi Awolowo
University, here in Ife to discuss some
very important issues of “medical
students’ importance”. J
We received some wise counsels from
the late Ooni of Ife - Oba Okunade
Sijuwade (may God rest his soul
forever) some of which has helped to
shape my life. It is heartwarming that
the Ooni stool has sustained support
for young people, and it worthy to
note that Oba Adeyeye Enitan
Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has taken
recognition and investment in young
people to an unprecedented positive
level. Kabiyesi, the youth in Nigeria
celebrate you. Thank you so much.
Let me start by defining some key
terms in the topic of discussion.
Who is a Youth? The United Nations
defines a youth as persons (female
and male) aged between 15 and 24
years. The Nigeria’s National Youth
Policy 2018 defined it as persons aged
between 15 and 29 years while the
African Youth Charter put it as
persons between 18 and 35 years of
age. This means that by whatever
definition you go with, any person
who is 36 years old or more is no
longer a youth. This includes me.
What do we mean when we use the
language, “Youth Engagement”? I
will explain this with the help of some
resources I got from ACT for Youth.
“Youth engagement is the result
when young people are involved in
responsible, challenging actions to
create positive social change. This
means involving youth in planning and
in making decisions that affect
themselves and others. Youth
engagement happens in youth-adult
partnerships that are structured so
that both groups contribute, teach,
and learn from each other.” The
event of today demonstrates that
youth-adult partnership. It presents
an opportunity for us (the adults) to
teach and learn from the youths
(NYCN) and vice versa. Activities like
this should be happening often.
Permit me to ask these questions;
· Are Nigerian youths being engaged
for actions?
· What kind of actions are the youths
being engaged to do?
· How well are our youths being
engaged for a positive action in
various communities, states, nationally
and globally?
We have a situation where the word
“Youth” has been so negatively
characterized and projected especially
in Nigeria. When the Ayodele Dada
broke the UNILAG record at the age of
29 years in 2016 with a CGPA of 5.0,
there was no much emphasis on his
youthfulness, but when the 32 years
old Ramon Abbas (a.k.a Hushpuppi)
got arrested recently in Dubai for
alleged fraud, the conversation was so
much about how the “Youth”
wants to make money overnight.
When Mr. Osita Chidoka who was made
a Corps Marshal of the Federal Road
Safety Corps at the age of 35 years – a
position many believed he discharged
creditably well, he rarely get
referenced as a youth. But when Rt.
Hon. Dimeji Bankole who became
Speaker of the House of
Representatives at the age of 39 years
was accused of corruption in his early
40’s, the media was awash with the
analysis on how the “youth” was
incapable of leading well. Mr. Donald
Duke got accolades for the Tinapa
project but not much credit was given
to the youth demography, he was
elected governor at the age of 37
years. Conversely, many people who
disagrees with the governance style
of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State
use him as a metaphor for the alleged
failure of the “youth” in
governance. He was first elected at
the age of 41 years. I can go on and
on.
Sometimes I ask these questions; why
same negative generalization not done
for the older generation many of
whom have performed below
expectations? Why do young people
who are involved in cultism and drugs
abuse find it easier to access political
leaders than more responsible youths?
My people say, nwata kwochaa aka ya
ofuma, o soro okenye rie nri (meaning
– if a child washes his/her hands well,
s/he will dine with the elders). My
experience in Nigerian politics
suggests the opposite is happening. In
many parts of the country, thugs are
more likely to eat and dine with the
political leaders than first class
graduates or highly skilled young
entrepreneurs.
“Youth empowerment” is now a
cliché for tokenism. Rather than
harness the demographic dividends by
investing sustainably in the youth,
many leaders have reduced youth
empowerment to sharing motorcycles,
keke, wheel barrows, dashing out free
money to praise singers, and other
unsustainable investments. Little
wonder the Youth Unemployment/
Underemployment rate is 55.4% (Q3,
2018) according to the National
Bureau of Statistics. I am sure Covid-19
must have worsened the situation.
This is a time-bomb and it has started
exploding gradually!
I would not want to dwell so much on
analyzing the problems because we
know them. Rather, I want to focus
more on the solutions.
I want to declare that I see hope for
the Youth in Nigeria! It gives me hope
that an eminent personality in the
person of Kabiyesi – the Ooni of Ife
has scaled up youth engagement for a
positive action not only in Ile Ife or
Yoruba nation but in the entire nation.
Just 8 months ago, Kabiyesi gave
awards to 100 Nigerian Youths
through the Royal African Young
Leadership Forum, an initiative created
to celebrate exceptional Nigerian
youths. Many of my friends like Timi
Olagunju and Gideon Olanrewaju were
recipients and I’m so proud of them.
This demonstrates a proper
understanding of the meaning of
“youth engagement”.
I see hope when I reflect on the hard
work and passion I observe in young
people across the 32 states I have
been to in this country in the
governance and health development
activities. I see hope knowing that the
youths in Nigeria are responsible for
the economic progress in the ICT
sectors, Nollywood and music
industries. I see hope when I reflect
on the outcomes of the strong
advocacy we championed for youth
inclusion in governance through the
NotTooYoungToRun Campaign. Under
the leadership of my good friend Mr
Samson Itodo and other exceptional
persons, the youth came together
across the length and breadth of this
country, spoke with one voice and
achieved a reduction in age
qualification for some elective offices
in our constitution.
Kabiyesi, your excellences and fellow
comrades, it gives me hope that 71%
of the 680 Nigerians who have
registered so far as members of the
#MakeOurHospitalWork Campaign – a
citizen-led community-based social
movement I started with some young
patriots less than 2 months ago are
between ages of 18 and 35 years (45%
are between 18 and 29 years of age).
Recognizing the adverse impact of
Covid-19 on our health system,
members of the movement are leading
actions in their various communities to
make the health facilities function
optimally for the benefit of their
people. Let me use this opportunity to
encourage many youths in Osun State
and across the country who are yet to
join to do so via https://
makeourhsopitalwork.org. It is a free
youth engagement platform for
sustainable development of the
Nigerian health sector.
The youth are ready for positive
engagement. They are ready to lead.
They are ready to use their energies
positively for national development.
But unfortunately, the goal posts is
being constantly being shifted as they
approach the existing ones. Some
persons in public service are either
reducing their ages or pushing for an
increase in retirement ages thereby
forcing younger ones to drop their
birth certificates and swear court
affidavits to declare a younger age to
enhance their employability chances.
The worst among them are more
involved in governance.
Kabiyesi, Your excellences, the Hon.
Minister and fellow Comrades, the
Nigerian economy will witness
accelerated growth when government
at the local, state and federal levels do
these;
1. Sustainable investment in Education
to improve the quality of education at
all levels. This can be achieved by
employing quality teachers, ensure
they are well motivated and trained
regularly, provide a conducive learning
environment and making it accessible
to all. Scholarships should be provided
to encourage academically brilliant
students and awards to good
performing teachers. Qualitative
education shall prepare the youth to
work effectively and efficiently in
various sectors of the economy and to
compete favourably with their peers
anywhere in the world.
2. Sustainable investments in the
health sector. Primary health care
facilities should be strengthened and
health insurance provided for all,
especially the youth as a health
population is a more productive
population.
3. Empower young people with
innovative skills in ICT – that’s the
new oil.
4. Provide grants or low interest loans
to the youths with business ideas. It
will keep them busy and create more
jobs. Investment in young girls and
persons with disability should be a
priority because they are
disproportionately affected by the
poor economy.
5. Provide mentorship for the youth
by being good examples. While
celebrating the youths in January,
Kabiyesi the Ooni said, “If you
don’t have it, it is like you don’t
know where you are going.
Mentorship is very key. You can’t
just wake up and say I want to
hammer. Nigerian youths have the
social media as their biggest tool so
we want to hear the success stories
and prepare the grounds for those
coming behind.” I agree with him
absolutely with Kabiyesi. Mentoring
from my older siblings and many other
mentors inspired a village boy like me
from Okposi, Ebonyi State to work
very hard and becoming an influencer
of national health policies and strong
voice in the global health space.
6. Establish a good reward system that
recognizes hardwork and celebrates
the exceptional youths. Kabiyesi – the
Ooni of Ife has started this. He
didn’t give the awards o the highest
bidders but to young people who
deserve it. Other monarchs should
emulate this.
7. Young people should be involved in
every level of governance. There are
youth in every village and community
that are teachable and can be
mentored to become great leaders. Let
Nigeria stop treating its youth with
disdain but make deliberate efforts to
harness the demographic dividends.
No youth policies should be made
without youths on the table.
8. Finally, government must guarantee
security of lives and properties. The
senseless killings across the country
are extremely unacceptable. Many
youths watch their parents and loved
ones being killed and dehumanized in
many parts of the country. If these
killings are not stopped, many youths
may grow with so much anger that
the country may struggle to contain in
future.
Kabiyesi, your excellences, fellow
comrades, ladies and gentlemen, youth
development is something I have lots
of passion and experience and I can
keep talking till tomorrow.
I want to end this speech, but not
without a few recommendations to
the Youth in Nigeria through the
National Youth Council of Nigeria.
1. Invest in yourself. If you want
someone to help you and the person
asks “what can you do?” what will
your response be? If your response is
“anything”, then you’re not
ready. Every youth must have a skill
and should market it confidently.
Whether is fixing of phones, repairing
of shoes, athletics, plumbing, graphics
designs, writing, public speaking,
community organizing, comedy, social
media management, or any of the
professional skills acquired in school
or other vocational trainings. I have
grown rapidly in my profession
because I always make deliberate
effort to invest in myself and learn
from my mentors. From my village
primary school with classrooms that
lack windows and no functional
toilets, I worked hard with support of
family and mentors to acquire medical
education at the University of Ibadan
and Public Health Management training
in Kentucky United States. Now, I can
sit on any meeting in the health sector
not primarily to take young people’s
quota but largely in recognition of my
professional competence. Now, I’m
building one of the most influential
health communication platforms in the
country known as TalkHealth9ja.
2. Every young person should be an
active citizen. We must all get
interested and involved in governance
and participate actively in community
development. Start from what
you’re most passionate about. I am
very passionate about health and
education and I have been taking
actions in my community and
anywhere I found myself. The first
step I took was during my 19th
birthday when I gave prizes to best
students per class in a secondary
school in my community. 10 years
later, I called some friends together
and we started the Okposi Education
Initiative in Ebonyi State. About 15 of
us contribute money annually to
reward 3 most brilliant students per
class in all 10 public secondary schools
in our community. More than 1000
students have benefitted with lots of
positive testimonies. While in Ibadan, I
founded the HIV AIDS Prevention
Promotion Youth (HAPPY) Club and it
helped a great deal in campus-based
HIV Advocacy and created lots of
opportunities for me and other
members as well.
3. The youth is more than two-thirds
of the total Nigerian population. The
youth have the numerical strength
and energy to change this country for
the better but this will not be possible
when there is not unity of purpose.
The first step is starting from within.
Let NYCN, NANS and other youth
groups fight a lasting solutions to the
internal fights and factionalisation. If
the youth don’t get it right, the
country will never get it right. Let
every young person join any political
party of one’s choice and begin to
influence decisions from there. Let the
youth become champions for electoral
reforms, participatory democracy and
good governance starting from the
various youth organisations.
4. Other youths of Africa expects
leadership from their Nigerian
counterparts. We are already doing
this at smaller levels but there should
be an intentional action to push and
get things right in the continent.
Finally, I want to give a big shout out
to all the young men and women
around the country who have been
working very hard against all odds;
who have been probably insulted or
dehumanized because of their poor
economic status but they keep
pushing; those who may have tried
and failed several times but are still
keeping hope alive; those who have
refused the temptation of engaging in
bad habits like drug abuse or criminal
acts; those who have refused to join
criminal gangs who picked up arms
against the state as a means of
expressing their grievances; those
who are learning skills and using them
positively to make legitimate income;
those who have adopted older men
and women of integrity as mentors
and living right to achieve their
dreams; those who represent us well
and win laurels for the country; those
in the armed forces who put their
lives on the line, fighting every day to
protect the rest of us; and those
youths who have paid supreme price
in defense of this country.
Greatest Nigerian Youths! Let
everyone arise and contribute
individually and collectively to the
sustainable development of Nigeria -
the only country we can call our own!
Arise! Arise!! Arise!!!
Arise o compatriots…… (Everyone
sings the national anthem).
*God bless the king! God bless your
excellences. God bless all comrades.
God bless every one of you. And may
God continue to bless the Federal
Republic of Nigeria.* |

I've said time without number that oshiomhole is looking for chip political relevant in EdO state because is political career in EdO is shaking. We don't need God-fatherlism in EdO state and in Nigeria in general. Enough is enough of God-fatherlism in Nigeria. The election is a battle of pride. Oshiomhole is like a wounded lion at the moment. Having lost his position as national chairman, which was orchestrated by Obaseki, he believes the governorship election presents an opportunity for him to get his pound of flesh at the governor. |

All this death should serve as a lesson to all politicians that nothing is this world. As powerful as mallan IsA Funtia and all the money he made, the money couldn't save him when mr death visited him. the position of his death was too bad that he can't call his children to educate them about his weath and sharing formula. Money is not everything, all the connection, money, weath and his influence in mr buhari govt. Can't save him. |
