dayokanu: van persie is back and carlos vela aka new romario is also back. arsenal are the best team in europe. on their day, they would murk mourinho's team 6-0 at the emirates and 5-0 in spain. i actually feel arsenal will win the champions league this season cos according to duduface, they have the best youth team in the solar system. gibbs is as good as contreao, koscielny/djourou are the new maldini/baresi. sagna is better than dani alves. fabregas is a field marshal(better than zidane, maradona and xavi). nasri will outfox leo messi in a 100m dash and bendtner shytes on nistelrooy. |

jobless nigerians. as if what they do here in the uk matters in nigeria. this is jonathan at work deploying people in the uk to slate babangida. nigerians abhor babangida? what a farce. how a group of no-mark twits can speak for 120 million nigerians baffles me. i am nigerian and i don't abhor ibb. if anyone should be locked up, then it should be obj - the only african tyrant that slept with his daughter-in-law. |

debosky: nani now floats. . . . .knowing how far up the pitch your full-backs roam, a quick counter-attack will pit nani with your centre-halves.
yes, you have been lucky! a dead n rotten ac milan team in 07/08, roma in 08/09 and porto last season. in all seriousness, none of these teams is a heavy-weight in europe.
no way. arsene vs mourinho is a better spectacle. it's the hottest beef as we speak after wenger said jose should be punished in the red card saga with jose replying arsene should worry about losing to braga.
waiting. . . . . . |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Red Devils' Zone! by cougar1: 4:18pm On Dec 09, 2010 |
debosky: nairaland analysts can assess strengths and weaknesses of the remaining 16 teams and you have to be honest, arsenal look like the weakest of the lot.
koscielny is not a good defender. i knew that when el-hadji diouf pissed on his face months ago. his positional sense is clouded. can't wait to see nani take a dump on him on monday.
it depends on the team you meet in the round of 16. in 07/08 and 08/09, you got lucky! last season, you got barcelona. anyone gets barcelona at this stage and the dreams die instantly. i hope you get real madrid or bayern munich. knowing how uefa love controversy - i forsee maureen vs wenger(Viewer series version 2.0) happening again.
it will become relevant when you meet either barcelona or real madrid. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Red Devils' Zone! by cougar1: 3:47pm On Dec 09, 2010 |
debosky: arsenal are the weakest in the round of 16. i watched how you guys laboured to beat a useless team like partizan belgrade. if you get any of the elite teams next round, it will be the end of the road for you.
i am sure you clenched your butt-cheeks when partizan equalised. you gotta admit partizan were poor last night. it's like they colluded with the arsenal strikers to score. what was that defender doing heading so low to assist theo walcott? it's a shame.
says who? you have always made it difficult - always finishing 2nd in the group stage and always getting eliminated when it matters. the last time you did well in this competition was when henry/pires etc were here. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 2:25am On Dec 09, 2010 |
Ibime: and the ones he copped in the world cup were mourinho's tactics too? watch the one he pinged to robben in the video again! the last player to use that technique was maradona himself. in the final against spain, he pinged the same pass twice but robben developed cold feet and those passes were good enough to have won holland the final until they got a man sent off and spain capitalized on playing against 10 men. Ibime: all these ones are stories. sneijder won the treble beating european giants on their road to winning the treble with sneijder being the pivot. he didn't stop there, he took his brilliance to the world cup and his team lost narrowly after heitinga got sent off. holland went through the qualifiers with a 100% record and the only game they lost in the world cup was the final - abeg, sneijder is a midfield general. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 2:13am On Dec 09, 2010 |
Ibime: and yet these assists are not enough to win arsenal the carling cup or community shield for 6 seasons? i bow for cesc's 20 assists per season cos it equates to trophyless campaigns. i'd rather have a player who knows the stage to shine. sneijder's assists eliminated chelsea, bayern and barclona. three european champions of their respective leagues that season. that is worth more in gold than copping 30 assists against hapless teams like west ham, slavia prague and middlesboro. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 2:04am On Dec 09, 2010 |
Ibime: now i believe you are a on a wind-up. cesc is better than zidane? you must be out of your mind. zidane and cesc fabregas? cesc with zero techniques is better than zidane? van persie is better than cesc technically and you dare compare cesc to zidane? now i know nairaland sports don kaphut! |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 1:59am On Dec 09, 2010 |
Ibime: which title race? wesley sneijder won the treble and you are telling us fabregas kept arsenal in the title race? what won't i hear on this forum?so keeping arsenal in the title race since vieira has left arsenal is a bigger achievement than winning the treble for inter milan? you should be sent to jail for making such lewd comments on a sports forum. where was cesc when fletcher and carrick tore him a new arsehole at the emirates when he was in his pomp? cesc is the microcosm of wesley sneijder. cesc has age on his side so he can get better but as of today, sneijder is the igwe. where were you when sneijder provided the defence splitting pass that sent etoo on his way to assault chelsea at the bridge? remember robben's first goal in south africa, who lobbed the 70 yards pass to send robben on his way to score? abeg, cesc is a cadet officer whilst sneijder is a midfield general. [flash=425,400] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8xZN27Fs_s?fs=1&hl=en_GB"[/flash] watch this video and compare the quality of cesc's distribution of the ball to general sneijder. compare the quality of opposition and what's at stake and tell me cesc is better? even a blind man can see sneijder is easily the better player. the way he strokes the ball and find his intended target is just world class. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 1:27am On Dec 09, 2010 |
Ibime: this ibime is an obdurate football fan. sneijder is stronger physically and mentally. he would have galvanised that arsenal side into winning at least a trophy in the last 5 years. he has won 3 league titles in 3 different leagues and you dare compare him to a fabregas that cannot lift a talented arsenal side to win a domestic title in england - clubs like portsmouth and tottenham have achieved those and it's not about money. there's no point discussing this further - your blindness to bare facts is peerless. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 12:09am On Dec 09, 2010 |
Ibime: u don't have to cop 19 goals and 19 assists to be an excellent midfielder. michael essien is a world class midfielder, his best stat as a midfielder is not more than 6 goals and 6 assists throughout his career in chelsea but every team on the planet would buy michael essien if he's available tomorrow. |

k2kay: not laughing at you, mate. just stating the obvious. nigeria turns out 100,000 graduates per annum. what do you expect would happen in the job market? of course, employers would demand for the best because there are too many job-seekers out there. i am even surprised they still ask for 2-1. by now i thought it would be strictly first class graduates! |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 11:48pm On Dec 08, 2010 |
Ibime: a good man-manager will find a place for sneijder in that team. he's too good to be neglected. wesley sneijder must play! a complete box to box midfielder who is versatile and deliver 100% in every game he plays for you. if arsenal had sneijder all these years, they wouldn't have stalled for 6 years without a league title. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2nd Class Lower Palaver by cougar1: 11:39pm On Dec 08, 2010 |

RuuDie: arsenal vs bayern would be tasty. a draw in munich for bayern and a win at the emirates for bayern. the emirates would be the type of stadium robben and gomez would love to display their arts. the pitch is peach perfect for football. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by cougar1: 10:51pm On Dec 08, 2010 |

dayokanu: until ibime n debo show massive improvement, i won't get into a debate with them ever again. how can any sane human being open his mouth and say cesc is in the same category as xavi? in ibime's eyes, denilson is better than van bommel because denilson makes 500,000 passes per season. |

Ibime: how did busquet become a spain international at the age of 19? pique nko? pedro nko? sneijder would find his spot in that team someway or somehow! Ibime: i never knew your previous posts on this forum have been encrypted and only you and the chosen few can decipher them. if this is the depth of your intellect, i have massively overrated your intelligence quotient. apologies in that regard. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 9:13pm On Dec 08, 2010 |
dayokanu: abeg forget ibime, he watches his football with his big ijaw incisors. making up fabregas to be what he isn't because of statistics. the same statistics told us berbatov has more creativity than fabregas in the premier league but that is not the whole truth. lampard has better statistics than xavi, i am amazed ibime is not dangling lampard's name in this argument yet. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 9:07pm On Dec 08, 2010 |
Ibime: in your opinion. go to interforum and ask this question and see what they tell you. you are too anglo-centric. any football game outside england is non-existent in your book. the same cesc that will not get a game for spain? tell me sneijder will not play for spain if he was a spaniard. . . .please say it. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 8:56pm On Dec 08, 2010 |
Ibime: cesc might later go on to become greater than maradona but in 2010, he is no match to sneijder. cesc said so himself so i don't know what you are harping about. cesc named sneijder as one of the top 5 players in 2010 and you are here discussing cesc fabregas? don't you get ashamed of yourself with the hapless comments you make sometimes? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 8:51pm On Dec 08, 2010 |
ritchboy: what about direct freekicks that led to directly to goals or indirectly where a goal scored registered as cesc's assist? they don't count too?
van persie was starved or van persie wasn't good enough to lead the line? pure bollocks. let's even say for argument's sake van persie wasn't fit enough in the world cup. can anyone deny sneijder's performance in that world cup final? the pass to set robben free one on one should actually be the pass of the tournament. robben will not score from a better chance in a final till he hangs his boot.
how many games did rvp play last season after getting crocked for holland? last season, van persie spent 1256 minutes on the pitch, cesc copped 2193 minutes. this season, cesc has copped 750 mins and van persie is far below with 158 mins. in van persie's absence, cesc has been the choice set-piece taker and he's taken his chances very well. in inter milan, stankovic blasts those freekicks into the net, etoo seldom takes penalty kicks and you have cambiasso also taking indirect freekicks, sneijder takes them too but not in the frequency of cesc @ arsenal who is burdened with the task to do everything!
and when eboue, walcott and bendtner come on as subs and assist a goal for cesc, those don't count well for cesc? how can you compare cesc who largely operates in a mediocre team like arsenal to sneijder who has milito, etoo, pandev and stankovic as team-mates?
it was built around carlos vela. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 8:32pm On Dec 08, 2010 |
Ibime: shut up your ijaw mouth, we don't need to know whether you are eating chinese or punjabi rice - too much information. if you are not a fool, you would know sneijder got 3 goals and 6 assists in the champions league last season. passing is not the only attributes required of a great midfielder. darren fletcher is not good in passing the ball and he was one of the best midfielders in the country last season. michael essien is not great passing the ball but many will tell you he's a midfield general. with sneijder, you have a complete box-to-box midfielder who can fit into any formation or any club bar none in europe. as brilliant as xavi is, he will not survive in the premier league cos his style of play requires his team-mates to do the pass n move stunts that is the character and tradition of barcelona. there's no way xavi/fabregas would have propelled inter milan to the treble last season in sneijder's shoes. |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 7:08pm On Dec 08, 2010 |
^^ it saddens me when supposed intellectuals like ibime bring out useless stats to back up his moronic opinion. fabregas play in arsenal - a team where he's a god and he's solely burdened with the task of taking penalties, freekicks, corner-kicks and sometimes goal-kicks. why won't he generate more stats than a sneijder who has more outstanding talents in his squad. eboue, walcott, bendtner and the likes would still pass the ball to cesc to score while etoo, milito, stankovic or balotelli believe they are good finishers themselves and they are not heavily reliant on sneijder. in a nutshell, arsenal is built around cesc, it will be a travesty if he doesn't cop 25 goals + 50 assists per season. in sneijder's inter milan, those statistics will spread because there are capable talented players in that team. it's the reason darren bent can score 25 pl goals in sunderland last season and van persie hasn't scored 12 league goals for arsenal. ibime would have us believe bent is better than van persie. cesc himself said. . . . . ."I think Wesley has a good chance to win," said the Arsenal skipper. "He won the triple with Inter, he had a very good World Cup and scored five goals and was in the final. He won the triple with Inter, he had a very good World Cup and scored five goals and was in the final "I think with him, Xavi, Casillas, Messi and Iniesta you have the top five – the winner will be one of those players.” The Gunners ace admits he has little chance of being crowned the world's best player but is delighted just to be considered again. He added: “I have been on the list for each of the last four years, since I was 19 and I’m very proud of that. One year I was eighth. "It’s a really good sign to be there every year – sometimes a player is there once or twice but then you never hear of him again. I prefer to be consistent.” fabregas sabi him master. cesc might be better than obi mikel and lampard but sneijder is miles better than cesc. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by cougar1: 6:41pm On Dec 08, 2010 |
Ibime: you are fraudulent. how many of these cesc's goals and assists came from penalties and dodgy set-pieces. anyone comparing cesc fabregas to wesley sneijder should be banished from discussing in football forums just like lepers were banished from israel in the days of moses. the same sneijder that single-handedly wrecked chelsea in san siro and stamford bridge? he had the best individual performance of a midfielder in 2010. sneider didn't stop there - he also took it to the world cup where he proved he doesn't have to be a striker to score goals. some of the passes he provided in south africa were reminiscent of diego maradona in his pomp in 86. it's sad that holland were bereft of outstanding poachers cos sneijder would have posted double digits in goal assists. only deluded premier league fans underrate sneijder and i am afraid, ibime is one of those. |

debosky: okay then - let me be the first to break the news to you. arsenal will not win the champions league this year. you can quote this anytime, anywhere.
let's wait and see. dayokanu: i agree with this. this is not only peculiar to milan. alex ferguson does this too. he sent a bunch of teenagers to fernabache one season and they lost 3-0 with tuncay sanli scoring a hatrick. he attempted it against maccabi haifa too and yakubu aiyegbeni bagged his hatrick. big teams do this time after time when qualification has been guaranteed. arsenal couldn't have guaranteed qualification when they lost to shakhtar and braga. debosky is only talking a good game here. this is not the arsenal thread where debo can fool his gaynner comrades. intellectuals plenty for here. |
