Fogman:

Vietnam, has arepresenrative since last year in Nigeria. They were meant to open their embassy last year, which to my knowledge, is functional presently. Nigerians are persona non grata in Vietnam now, infact no airline will carry you from here. My firm, partnered with their representative last year to secure visas for business men who attended their int'l trade fair "VIETNAM EXPO 2008".

Thanks for the above info , do u have contact of the representative in Nigeria ?Am a Nigeria but legal resident of the Seychelles so will be flying from the Seychelles . Is it possible to post passport to the Rep for the visa or is it appearance ?

Why am keen is that me and my friends are doing asia tour in May , have gotten the rest of the asian countries visa we will be visiting just Vietnam visa left . My friends are Scandinavians it is visa free for 15-days for them (They are dam so lucky!)

@Darkrule

Correction  Darkroll

1) A Naija lady married a fellow Naija boy who hold British pali. The initial application was succesful but wahala happened in the application for ILR. The couple were called for interview. Both were asked if there is any problem with child bearing.
ECO concluded that " In Nigeria, once you get married, na pikin follows. Why are they not doing that. The application was refused.

lol,  The ECO as watched to many Nollywood movies . The response the applicant gave determines alot here , At times ECOs try to play smart and play with applicants brain but good response from the applicant put them right back to their seat. I Agree it is a cultural thing in Nigeria that after marriage child is the next thing to follow and am sure you and i also agree that as people get more educated and expose they tend to drop some cultural backgrounds.

I believe being gay is not a cultural thing and am sure that the ECO will also know that there are lot of gay people living in countries where "gayism " is not allowed , If Phuket is smart and intelligent ( it seems to me he is) he will know the right answer to give to the ECO and use in his appeal if he is rejected on cultural factors

i take your answer dark!!

but lets take an example , where a person is filling the form for the first time. He is tend to make mistakes. for eg: writing wrong credit card number or giving the  wrong passport epxiry date. But there is always chance of correcting it by re-applying. cant we take a similar grounds here??

We are saying the same thing , if you read my earlier post i stated i will advise you to  correct the mistake and reapply instead of re-appealing.

Travel / Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by darkroll(m): 7:11pm On Mar 08, 2009
Weigh your options

Just a tip: If you reappeal , will she claim u both were ignorant to fill permanent in the application form ? ignorant is not an excuse in court ooo , not even at this E - all age .But if she correct the mistake and reapply lets assume she was refused (which i doubt) , she wont be refused on the past mistake but maybe a new one and then you can now re appeal on whatever new reason the ECO refused her for.

But i still strongly advise you speak to immigration lawyers

It is until after 5-years when u apply for the indefinite stay that your wife can fill permanent on the form , there is no guarantee now you will get indefinite stay so she cant fill permanent .

Even though it state in the immigration law  that your stay is extendable and you can file for indefinite stay after 5-years there is no guarantee you will  get it if you dont meet the requirement then, so she cant  assume or conclude that she will be staying there permanently at this stage.

Your spouse as to be on the dependent  of your visa timeline for now .

How long is an HSMP valid for?
An HSMP would be valid for up to 5 years. Initially, normally, the home office grants a person 12 months. At the end of the 12 month period they would then need to apply for an extension under the highly skilled migrant program, proving that they had taken employment and that they were still qualified under that scheme.

So am  not sure if permanent is the right answer because your spouse is only allowed to stay in the UK as long as your HSMP is valid . ( So do the math and you will get the right answer)

I will advise her to reapply and correct the mistake .

~Saruman~:

Hello all.  grin
I am new here and readin' thru this tread, whao! its 49 pages of mother lode on UK visa issues. Y'all doin' a great job here.
To also seek your advice on UK visa issue, my partner is self-employed as a consultant in education management and handles a lot of twinnin' on the global scale.
Around this period in the previous year (2008), he applied for a business visitor visa to attend a fully sponsored ( I mean accommodation, feeding and transport will be handled by the host in the UK & all he needs to do is get a return ticket) school evaluation trip in the Birmingham region organized by the HELSA group of schools and the ECO refused the entry clearance by statin' that the amount he claimed as earnings ($4800) was higher than what his account balance ($2800+) was at that time (he claimed the ECO perjured his application entry cuz he wrote $1800 and not $4800). The ECO also said that since he was been sponsored, why is he providin' source of funds (I am clearly unclear about what that means though).

1. Let me use an example to explain to you what the ECO meant by that statement ; U asked MARY to marry you  but whereas you told MARY that there is a  girl  you still  shag constantly  (i.e Mary is love , but u still enjoy outside shag ). A right girl with correct brain will definitely say NO.

You have already backed up your application with a sponsorship letter from the host company, all you need to focus is showing ties of you to your home country and what you stand to gain and learn from attending the conference, the Eco at times can be funny ; ECO might think you are proofing source of funds to proof that after the sponsored business visiting u attending   you still got cash to remain in the UK and not come back home at the date u specified .

He applied again later in the year to attend two (2) other related conferences in the UK and the visas were refused by the ECOs that they are not sure why he is representin' his own company.

2. Am not sure how you partner packaged his/her application but whatever ways, did he clearly made known to the ECO what benefits will be  derived from attending the conference to his company and himself. (It is not just filling the application form but adding some extra details and well covered letter helps a lot)

This year again, he was invited by the same group of schools that invited him in the previous year and the ECO repeated the same thin', why is he representing his company.

3. He was refused again because the ECO cannot understand what he stands to gain from attending the conference and why he is the one choosing from the company to go. Suggested Solution: He needs to proof beyond doubt his calibre of person, his  achievement to the company and what benefit he stands to gain from the conference for  the company and him self.

Advised to re-apply and state that he owns the company as a sole proprietor, he did just that and again the visa was refused and this time the reason was that he did not include the sponsor financial details (the invitation letter was well composed and the umbrella organization for the group of schools works with and are certified by VisitBritain and the British Council and when he confirmed from them, they told him the BDHC did not contact them to verify).

Quoting funkybabe  "thats a total of four business visitor visit refusals in about one year " Why reapplying when u not correcting the issue u are asked to correct.

My Qs -
Which one of the sponsor's is supposed to send financial documents as proof? The universities or the umbrella organization? and they told him they cannot do that cuz they are already known and well regarded by the UK govt.

Quoting funkybabe again, "in your case, i think its best you upload a copy of the refusal notice and edit all personal information in it
lets read what the ECO stated word for word as the reasons for the most recent refusal"

Just to add to it , Did he invitation letter sent to you by your host clearly state what level of sponsorship  they will be offering you ? or it is just  we are inviting mr so so so to attend the conference and accommodation and feeding will be taken care of ,  bla, bla, bla.

NB: Am not an expert with UK immigration stuff , just my 1 cent opinion but i stand to be corrected in whatever i stated above .

a
Vicjustice:

   Honourable, i Salute you!

You just said my mind. You see, homosexual is not something commonly practiced in Nigeria, so, it might be hard for the subject to get through all these especially as there are other complications. You won't be surprised that this is the first case of its kind to an ECO in Nigeria who will likely use the native law, custom, tradition and culture to assess the civil partnership situation. Now, imagine what the outcome would be if the ECO has grudges against gay people, or is not satisfied that a Nigerian can genuinly declare being a gay.
   Anyway, goodluck

Vic am not sure any ECO will have grudges against gay people and incase any ECO does, He/she has to keep the grudges in his pocket ,in the job contract an ECO signed stated clearly he/she must not allow whatever grudges (sexuality , religion, cultural background. e.t.c)  as  to affect his decisions towards applications.

ECO works with guidelines so there is no case that it might be the first type of application they are receiving , all the ECO needs to do is use the same guidelines and rules that will be used in a country where being gay is allowed  to make decision on his application .

Being gay as nothing to do with nationality , a lot of nigerians i know that  have been granted asylum with the story that they are gay and back home they will be stoned to death .

@ Phuket have been reading everyone's post

Am not really good with d  UK immigration issue , but my 1 cent is regarding the DOB issue and stamp

There is no where in the law that state the last page of the passport is to be used for BHC only , as long as you are honest with them that you have been refused before no worries regarding that. My brother had the same issue as yours , he erased the refusal stamp of BHC , lagos and he when he applied here in Seychelles he simply stated it in a letter to them that  due to ignorance he erased the stamp. he was granted the visa under 2days .

As for your own case it is really complicated but if you are intelligent ( and it seems  to me you are ) , you can beat the ECO on the DOB stuff . My own opinion is write a letter and clearly state to them that when the error was made by the Nigerian immigration you never put much attention to it  , but after you realized that the error could affect you in the nearest future you decided to go to the NIgerian immigration and rectify it .

You have a good case phuket , if you can back up all what you stated in your post ( your partner's  investment , and him buying a house in thailand and you are living there ) , do you  have any letter addressed to your name sent to that house ?

BHC  handles civil partnership case with extreme care especially if applicant is from a country where being gay is not legalized , they will treat your case with the highest discretion and i can assure that they wont judge you on  the basis that you gay and you are a nigerian , you are absolute right that what you do on bed as nothing to do with your nationality .

Hope my 1cent help

@darkroll, slumdog millionaire was a british production, yeah it was beautifully adapted from an indian book tho,

@all, av seen arugba, its not all dat neither, ranks amongst TK's worst as far as storytellin and directing goes

Slumdog was a british production and a british director (Danny boyle) but shot in the slum of india , dont we wanna make movies like this or is it because it is a british production (common we all have same brains )
TV/Movies / Re: Jenifa the. blockbuster by darkroll(m): 4:31am On Feb 23, 2009
It seems some guys here does not understand what the word STORY LINE means in a movie , story line is something u can walk along with and relate with when u watching a movie , it is something that makes u glue to your chair to know what will happen next . Story line must contain suspense which jenifa does not . I can tell what the end of Jenifer would be just by seeing the first chapter of the movie , there were lots of repetitions of words in the movie .

All movies got some mistakes in them (even TITANICS does ) but not obvious ones , Jenifa can never pass thru the panel of film critics like oscars , academy awards e.t.c (for christ sake dont we wanna grow in the movie industry and for once do international standard movie that can earn us good recognition instead of this stupid suliyaty thingy .

Have u guys seen slumdog millionaire that came out from the slum of bollywood ,simple and well adapted storyline . Movies i can refer to as blockbusters to nigerian standards are :

Ti Oluwa ni onile

Thunderbolt

Oleku

I wish i get in touch with these movie producers and i will personally send those movies to oscar panels .
TV/Movies / Re: Jenifa the. blockbuster by darkroll(m): 4:38pm On Feb 22, 2009
The worst movie i ever saw  and i still do not know what category of movie i should class it into , it has no comedy base story-line cause the only thing funny there was the stupidness of the  actress (Suliyat) and it seems to me most viewers mistake stupid act or accent to be comedy (not all that makes u laugh is comedy at times stupid act makes u laugh because you laughing at the stupidness of the actress/actor)

Am very sure the Part 2 of the movie  got no script cause every scene was prolonged and unnecessary scenes were included , replay the part 1 of the movie and look at the scene where she was buying bend down select clothes , if buying clothes either from bend down select or boutique i expect the clothes should be put in a bag (blockbusters are movies you dont see silly mistakes ) . I will let you guys look over the movie once again and ignore the accent or what ever english she is saying and look at the real act of the movie and you will see lot of errors , try and figure out the story line of the movie and am sure you wont be able to figure it out (nowadays movies are meant to stand out and bring in new story lines and not the same ones we used to seeing , have seen lot of movies of village girls coming to lagos and turning to LovePeddler and end up having HIV , all what she did was put in the rubbish accent and english  and make the same of  story lines we have seen before )

if this is what is called BLOCKBUSTER in nigeria then it seems you guys still got a long long long long way to go,
