kbayo:

Hi, if you are a PhD student with scholarship, do U need a BTA and what is BTA by the way? Why is it also hard for or impossible for Nigerians to get Work permit in Singapore?
Thanks.

if u coming as a student and u are on schorlaship then you dont need BTA (Basic travel allowance). It is a very slim chance for a Nigeria to get a work pass in Singapore , it was very easy before but lots of Nigerians misused it and they cancelled a lot of Nigerians work pass permit. For my case i have worked legally in 7european countries and so many islands did training in the Uk and China and i was thinking it will be easy for me to get my work permit granted easily in Singapore but it took 4 months to get my work permit granted after so much pressure on the immigration from my host company .

But i will always tell people to try thier chances if you can get a company in singapore to hire you but if u thinking of working illegally in singapore it is impossible and more over it is a very expensive place to live .

NOTE: If you are holding a student pass you are not allowed to work either during academic period or non academic period you are only allowed to work if your course requires you to do an internship.

If you coming for holiday it is visa free and you will be granted thirty days stay in Singapore , you must be able to show proof of accomodation , return ticket and BTA .

I overstayed one day in denmark and i went to the immigration service centre to get visa extension , they gave me the extension but they stamped on my passport that i over stayed for one day . does anyone knows the complication for this
Travel / Re: Help With Schegen Visa Issue by darkroll(m): 7:46pm On Oct 27, 2008
Extension is possible in denmark , i tried it once before and i got extension for 3month on the ground that i want to spend more time with my pregnant sister and wait till she give brith and also i had my travel insurance still valid.

If u are in denmark just go to the service centre and fill the schgen visa extension application form , but fill in a good reason for extension

Yes, Seychellois are very friendly people. smiley But no, Nigerians don't have a good reputation in Seychelles. In fact, All of mainland Africa is looked down upon by many Seychellois. It has a lot to do with the media; the only news Seychellois ever get to watch/listen to that's related to mainland Africa is broadcasted by CNN or BBC and somehow it's always something negative.

I don't want any insults or harsh comments thrown at me, I'm just telling you guys the truth about what situations are like in the islands.
And where are u ?
Travel / Re: Help With Schegen Visa Issue by darkroll(m): 5:40pm On Sep 24, 2008
Just a little hint regarding hotel reservation , if you know you cannot afford hotel bookings you can try and make bookings at youth hostel , if you pay for the first 2 night they will send you a confirmation letter

go to google and type young and happy hostel .

hi n/landers,anyone in the house with seychelles travelling info?travelling requirements, ticket prize,do they have flight from nigeria, are they friendly or do nigerians still have good reputation there?i will appreciate any useful info from you guys.
mr black

Seychelles is visa free if you coming as a tourist , you will need a comfirm and paid hotel booking , return ticket and 1500USD BTA if you staying for 1 week, Nigerians dont have good reputation here so be ready for some immigrations wahala . If you coming to Seychelles with other intentions like getting a job or over staying with visit visa then dont bother coming then cause seychelles is not a place where you can stay without a valid work pass or resident permit.

If you coming for Holiday , it is a great place for scuba diving , snorkelling , whale shark wacthing , fishing and boat racing , Seychelles has the best beaches in the world with clear blue waters and clear white sands .

As for Airline try Kenya airways and Emirates , check with them for the ticket price .

Hope the above info helps .

shut up - it is the other way round, fool. People want to come back home to live, not the other way round.

U right , people want to come back home to live , cost of living in Nigeria is low compare to out here . Paying 500USd monthly for 2 bed room apartment is not easy ooo , i am very sure with 500USD monthly in Nigeria u can rent a duplex.

Relocating back to Nigeria is a good idea but make sure you got all your equations right .

kenflipper link=topic=169487.msg2778956#msg2778956 date=1221027682:

you guys re calling a spade a cutlass.

Illegal migration is a crime that allows for jail term for the purpose of detering would-be defaulters, that Nigeria doesnt enforce their immigration laws doesnt mean other countries wouldnt enforce theirs, and mind you that is why naija is what it is told the system has completely failed, there are thousands of Niger and Ghanians in Naija wit out permits the government is loosing alot from it. Commiting a crime calls for hatred be it drug or whatever crime. If we would respect laws of foreign countries am sure the discrimination would stop though not totally. What would u say about someone who carries drug to Singapore or Malaysia even tho before landing the pilot warns repeatedly that drug carries a death penalty and the arrival card indicates it. The carrier wont go to d toilet and flush d drug before going thro' immigration and custom check, rather he think the gods will see him thro' because he did seven days prayer and fasting, rather the gods sees him to his untimely hanging. Americans don't joke wit illegal migration, if u re illegal and caught they hack you, bump you, toss you and deport you after baning you for multiple years. If i had a legal residence in china the fact that they toss a human being to snakes don make me run quick quick, but Nigerians will hear these information and still commit crime and some body will come here and say lets stand for Africans! Its high time we apply common sense and do the right thing the world has changed. Nothing comes easy without hard work no matter where u re in the world. You need to work hard to make an impact or sit and be a spectator cheering the achievers.

1+ 1=2 So simple!!!!!!!
Good to see that some guys can reason the same way i do.

You're not being objective my dear darkroll, not even the most conservative of redknecks will advocate this kind of torture camps for illegal Mexican immigrants. And if what they're doing isn't so bad, why are they keeping it a secret?

I strongly feel what ever treatment the illegal migrants are going thru in the camp is what they asked for . It is a very simple mathematics : Stay and sit down in Niger and hussle , if you need to go for holiday go for holiday and return home , if you need to migrate to another country make sure you have original documets.

If you decide to break the rules then be ready to face the penalty .
Travel / Re: Nigerians Living Illegally In China Are Now Going Through Hell! by darkroll(m): 6:09am On Sep 10, 2008
Well i guess that was what he asked for , every country has is on way of treating illegal immigrant .

Why should you go to a country with a vist visa claiming u going for holiday and u end up staying for Holiyears , he should be ready to face the penalty for breaking the rules and not coming here blaming the chinese government .

Why are you in defence of "migrate or die trying" Nigerians, Is it becuse you're one?

I can see that you dont read post and get full understanding , you only read for reading sake . I am not in defence of "migrate or die trying" Nigerians" what i am saying is that people should not condem china just because of the way they treat illegal immigrant (Illegal immigration is a criminal offence and you dont expect the chinese goverment to be friendly with them ) but if you legal in China am sure you wont have same problem the illegal ones are having.

U should ask the poster what he has been doing there for 9 years , If China was a NO AREA as he claimed why has he not returned home since.
Travel / Re: Nigerians Living Illegally In China Are Now Going Through Hell! by darkroll(m): 5:39am On Sep 10, 2008
I wont agree with you guys on this issue that a legal black resident cannot live in China succesfully .

China is a land of business opportunity if you have the genuie papers , I got a friend that runs a wharehouse in china and he is making it big time

@ Vallo 57 who told you as a foreigner you are not allowed to own a car ? Yes you are allowed to own a car but you have to get permit from Traffic section and Police , the permit will be issued to you after they have checked you records .

I am not saying CHINA is heaven but it is a fast growing economy .
Travel / Re: Nigerians Living Illegally In China Are Now Going Through Hell! by darkroll(m): 5:16am On Sep 10, 2008
@ poster
if i may ask what have you been there for the past 9 years ? are u illegal or legal immigrant ? If china was not a NO GO AREA as you claimed what have you been doing there for 9 years .
Travel / Re: Nigerians Living Illegally In China Are Now Going Through Hell! by darkroll(m): 4:50am On Sep 10, 2008
After reading all thru this post , i just felt it is we Nigerians that is to be blamed and not the Chinses people . Illegal immigration is a criminal offence and each country has is on way of treating illegal immigrant . If you have genuie documents to live in China , it is a great place to live.

Lots of Nigerians dont do research on countries they are going to , some months back i met 4 Nigerians in Seychelles and they told me the travel agent in lagos charged them 150,000 Naira each for Seychelles visa (meanwhile Seychelles is visa free if you coming for holiday ) and the so called agent told them that Seychelles is an oil country and they are looking for workers ( Seychelles as no crude oil , main resources is tourism and no employment if you dont have a Gainfull work permit) . If they have done thier research b4 they paid the travel agency they could have saved that money and start a small business in Nigeria that will provide thier daily bread for them .

"Nigeria is bad , Niger no good" so many people says but i am sure with 200,000 naira you will pay for a visa you can start a business that will provide your daily bread for you and your family .

Kelvin, just one question first -

How long has that error been in your passport?

I am following the post carefully cause i know someone with same problem .

His date of birth is 1980 but his passport reads 1975 , he has travelled a lot with this passort without correcting it do u guys think the mistake can still be corrected ? or should he wait till 2010 when the passport expires and get a new one with the original DOB .
