Pataki:

@ darkroll,

Why is your brother thinking of traveling to Switzerland? Do you think that will be an added on credibility to his travel status when applying to the British High Commission subsequently?

One thing is certain here, his passport has been tampered with, and even if he travels to the whole of Europe, he will one day want to travel to UK, and DANG!!!! there pops his refusal on the ECO's computer with the refusal stamp missing on his passport!

What do you think would happen next? And again, he has even altered his real age. . . . . .

If you follow my post you wil see the reason why he is going to switzerland ; he is going there just because he needed somewhere to go on vacation not because he is trying to fill his passport with visa so that the BHC will issue him visa . He will be coming to Nigeria next year so he will able to rectify his pali wahala .

Seychelles must be marvelous. When is the low season? I was thinking of doing Barbados soonest, but I'm rethinking. . . Seychelles might be a better option.
What would a moderate 3 weeks cost in low season? I abhor peak periods!

@ PapaBrowne
A moderate 3weeks in seychelles in a 3 star accomodation , full board (breakfast , lunch , dinner ) will cost 2,520euros , other expenses like going on excursions , car hire , diving and snorkelling , will cost about 1000euros so in total about 3520 euros .

Seychelles is a very expensive island but every penny worth it , it is is beatifull , peacefull , and unique .

check this http://www.seychellestravel.com/

It is visa free if you coming as a tourist to seychelles , they will issue the visa according to how many days your hotel booking stated.

Erm. . . When Nigeria stops generating money from crude oil and all the oil companies have left naija, i will go into it full time and have an office on Walter Carrington.

But thank you all for your contributions , it has really helped alot and have saved him from trouble with BHC.

Funkybaby you should open a travel consulting office oooooo , am sure you will make a lot of money from it wink

landis:

@darkroll

This is criminal action punished by JAIL TERM.

Your brother should go back with same passport with its refusal stamp: This would have shown: consistency!-- thats all the embassy looking for.

By the way, British embassy also monitor this site. So they go back to their records for all Nigeria refused 14months ago.

I had refusal on my passport and I still use same to get VISA all over the world.

Points: It does not make any sense to become criminal to achieve what you want.

Honestly i wish i could turn back the hands of time and i would have advised him not to try what he did  , but now it is too late . am just trying to get a solution for him now . I just called him and advised him to apply with the passport and  he should tell them that he was refused before and the refusal stamp cleared off somehow ,  but  he is  scared .

Am still waiting for your response funkybaby
Travel / Re: Uk Visa /seychelles by darkroll(m): 9:33am On Jun 04, 2008
funkybaby:

Hmmmm. Nigerians sha. cheesy cheesy

Let the truth be told. The refusal stamp was not 'erased' from the passport. What was done was that the passport page with the refusal stamp on it was smartly and carefully removed and replaced with another 'arrangee' page having the same passport number. cheesy cheesy . I am trying to remember the jail term for anyone caught mutilating nigeria's passport cheesy cheesy cheesy

Anyway, your brother should have just gotten a fresh passport before travelling to Seychelles. BHC keeps a central data base of all applications irrespective of the country where the fresh application will be made.

The problem now is if he applies with the same passport and the system detects he has been refused, they would probably ask how come the refusal stamp is not on it-unless he claims he knows nothing about it and all he was given was his passport/refusal notice. They might think the ECO forgot to stamp the passport. I doubt if they make sure omissions though-but they are humans therefore they are also prone to errors.

Another option is declaring the old passport missing. Which means he has to notify the Seychelles authority and get the work permit transferred on the new passport.

On the issue of discrepancies in his date of birth, that can be corrected on his passport. He should go to the Nigerian embassy/passport office with affidavit, birth certificate, etc and it will be stated on the 'observation' page of the passport that there was errors in his date of birth.

Funkybaby thanks for your response , yes you are right that there was no biometirc system yet when he applied , as per the removal of the refusal stamp i dont know how they did it. What if he says the truth that he has been refused before but somehow the stamp cleaned off? Am sorry if some of my questons sounds a bit stupid to you , but honesty i dont really know much about this UK visa thing , i am into hotel reservation and ticketing

The option of declaring the passport missing here in seychelles and getting his work permit on a new passport is a very good option , but the problem is there is no Nigeria embassy/passport office here in the Seychelles , Funkybaby is there a way to apply for a new passport in Nigeria without appearnace ? if you dont mind i will really like to have a chat with you , let me know if you will like to and i can send u my chat id.

I am applying for a visit visa to Uk for my brother  here in Seychelles , he has applied before 14 months ago in (Lagos) Nigeria and he was refused and he went to erased the refusal stamp off his passport . i got  him a work permit here in Seychelles and he  has been working for  10 months here , with his work permit  and his kind of job it is easy for him to  get a UK visit visa  here ( His real intention is just to visit Uk and stay for 1week and return back to Seychelles) and also his actual age is 28yrs old but his Passport state 33yrs old. Please i need the following advice :

Is it possible that the  British embassy here in Seychelles  may contact BHC Nigeria and check if he has been refused visa before ? The refusal stamp he had before on it was cleaned out properly and no trace of removal .

Do you think it would work if i should  state his real age and submit a copy of his original birth certificate along side and claim that there was an error on his passport date of birth  ? cause i will really like  him to use his real age

All response will be highly appreciated

Travel / Re: Any Nigerian In Malaysia?pls Help! by darkroll(m): 7:07am On May 28, 2008
We Nigerians we tend to defend our selves when people post the truth about us , we all know the truth that Nigeria has a bad reputation around the world and we also know that some are doing well and good and keeping a good name . but the fact remains that the bad ones are creating a bad name and reputation out there

I dont see anything wrong in malaysian posting the problem Nigerians are causing in Malysia , from what i read from her post most this Nigerians are being told the wrong stories about Malysia ( such as : they can get job easily there , they can play football and make money . bla, bla , bla ) . I have been to Malysia a couple of times , it is a nice place , good infrastructure , cost of living is low , but there are no jobs , even thier football league is crap , but still Nigerians migrate to Malysia just because they have been mislead but when they get there and they cant get a job they go into crimes.

Even here in the Seychelles , it is the same story. Due to the nature of my job i work hand in hand with the Seychelles immigration and most of the bad stories you hear about Nigerians could make u feel ashamed of being a Nigerian . I was at the airport some weeks ago to do some arivals , when the KQ plane landed it has 8 Nigerians guys on it , the immigration asked them what is thier mission for coming to Seychelles they said they came for Oil conference and they had a fake conference invitation letter with them , for God sake there is Oil/crude oil in Seychelles . The immigration guy passed them to me for some investigations and i got to found out from them that they came in search for jobs and they have been told by thier visa agent that Seychelles is an Oil country and lot of petroleum companies are offering jobs .

The Nigerians i know and i left back home some years ago are not dumb and they think before they do things , but i dont know what is happening nowadays cause it seems people just travel and dont know much about where they are going to, When they get to thier destinations and have nothing to do or live on they end up in crime and dubious stuff .

Sorry for the delay in response , i have gone thru your website and i think is ok . Well like i said earlier i will be providing you with materials , informations that will enable you to sell Seychelles holiday .

But i will give you some ideas now , Seychelles is a very expensive holiday destination , this makes Seychelles a selective destination

Below are some packages and offers

Air ticket +5 days Accomodation ( 5 star hotel ) on Full Board basis (Breakfast , lunch , Dinner ) + excursions to other islands in seychelles( Seychelles is made of 115 islands) for 2 will cost 1 Million Naira .

Sames as above in 4 star hotel will cost 700 ,000 naira

Same as above in 3 star hotel will cost 600,000 naira

Same as above in 2 star hotel will cost 500,000 naira

Also , there are self catering apartment for families who will like to live and provide thier own meal them selves , for the self catering apartment there is no fix price for it , as the client taste and wants will determine the price . but the cheapest self catering apartment is 120euros per day .

So kindly let me know if you can market and get clients who are willing to pay this prices , and kindly note that Seychelles is strictly for holidays , honeymooners , get away lovers and not for shopping.

Business / Re: Opening A Spa In Lagos Or Abuja Will It Work? by darkroll(m): 2:48pm On May 21, 2008
Dis Guy:

i think the minimum wage is officially like N8,000 or thereabout
paying someone like N30,000-50,000 is good for a salon, spa etc

N50,000 is about 385USD , i can see there is cheap labour then .
I'm not too sure though
Business / Re: Opening A Spa In Lagos Or Abuja Will It Work? by darkroll(m): 4:09am On May 21, 2008
When u guys says cost of labour and rentage is cheap in Nigeria , is this true ? I had always though cost of rentage and labour is high
What is the minumum wage of an average nigerian ? Unit cost of water and electricy ?
Business / Re: Opening A Spa In Lagos Or Abuja Will It Work? by darkroll(m): 8:47am On May 14, 2008
I think it would be a good idea to open a world class spa in Nigeria , but will nigerians be willing to pay the price for it ? One of the best spas operator in the world is Aquum spa www.aquumspas.com . I was talking to one of the directors some weeks ago and the question he asked me was " Will nigerians appreciate and be willing to pay 200euros for a 1hr facial massage ?" I really dont know the answer to this but i will like u guys to tell me how much you will be willing to pay for an hour service at a world class spa .
