I read your piece with rapt attention and I can deduce from it that although, the writer is right but if we consider Nigeria clime, he is wrong.!For any successful farmer,he must get support most especially from the government.If we really want to achieve this,commercial or large scale farming must be practised. A leader is someone who leads people to accomplish a task; a leader is someone who people look unto as a role model. Someone once described a leader as someone who can make others turn his dream into their passion. I agree with the last analogy.

Presidents are supposed to be leaders. They are supposed to be good examples to the citizens they lead, govern or rule. They are supposed to be people with the ability to transform and redirect a failing system. They are supposed to be the guardian of the people who voted them in (including those who didn’t even vote them or like what they look like.) Presidents owe their entire country service, whether they belong to the ruling party or not.

Nigeria’s case shouldn’t be an exception, especially as our democracy is getting deeper. Without a doubt, we should be better off today, but due to sentiments we used in choosing, judging and rating our leaders has cost us many years of growth.

Prior to the 2011 elections, in the spirit of federalism and continuity, President Goodluck Jonathan made a vow to Nigerians in the Diaspora, the members of his party, a group of Northern Elders and Nigerians in general, that he won’t stay in office beyond 2015. In fact, I know someone who fell in love with the President because of this promise (though she presently dislikes his ways, leadership style and his pro-corruption way of life).

The Promise from President Jonathan that he won’t be contesting 2015 election had made headlines then, but just penultimate Thursday evening, I read that President Jonathan had declared his intention to seek re-election. The little boy in me has been telling me; “This guy might still have that humility in him and might not contest”, but that little boy was sadly mistaken and disappointed. I saw him take delivery his nomination form, and I said, “So he was lying back then, right? Did he deceive us? Oh, no!” Here is evidence of his promise.

Yes, it may be President Jonathan’s constitutional right to want to seek a another term in office. I don’t know how legitimate it is for him to be sworn in thrice as the country’s constitution is against this, but if he gets re-elected in 2015, that means he would have been sworn in the 3rd term. That is unconstitutional and against the law of the land, but what do I know? The lawyers and the court will argue that out and translate to us.

However, as a Nigerian citizen, before voting last election, I had listened to the programs candidates presented before electorates, also the manifestos of their political parties, and I still have that of President Jonathan. The question is, which one has he fulfilled? Which one has he failed in? Is he re-electable? Can we trust him again? Ok, before you answer those questions, here are the promised President Jonathan made to electorates while campaigning round the country prior to 2011 elections.If President Jonathan or some of his handlers won’t remember his promises during campaign, here are few of his promises with evidence. On the 12th of October 2010, he had told Nigerians in Kaduna that he’s a man of his words; evidence, can we still believe those words? Close to 5years after, there’s still not appreciable improvement in power supply in Nigeria.

Also, President Jonathan, to fool our traditional rulers to endorse him and compel their communities to vote for him, he promised constitutional roles for them. Do our Obas, Emirs and Obis have these roles now? Did he send any bill to National Assembly to effect these roles? Or GEJITES want to argue he didn’t say it? You said this on the 27th of December 2010 and here is one article someone posted about it…. It is almost four years now sir, we still await his executive bill to National Assembly on this issue.

“If I win the election, within my four years in office, I will establish domestic airports in all the states without airports.” Those are the words of Mr. President on March 17th 2011 in Jigawa after seeing the airport being built by Sule Lamido of Jigawa. Besides this one, the Moshood Abilola Airport in the State of Osun is being built by the Rauf Aregbesola administration. Even the president’s home town of Bayelsa doesn’t have; Ebonyi does not, Ogun, Ekiti et el to mention few. All we see is Stella Odua’s cosmetic rehabilitation and corruption-driven aviation industry. President Jonathan has not built a single airport in the last 4 years.

Also, he promised Nigerians while campaigning in Nassarawa state that he would build one university in each of the state of the federation; I wonder if this promise has been fulfilled. All we know about is $20 billion missing money; no new government-owned university in Lagos where I stay. Do you have in your state? The first developmental plan of Yakubu Gowon that built universities of first choice and so many institutions today and airport is not up to N3billion(I’ll explain in my next article). Yet someone got $20billion in her purse? Indeed, deris God o!

On February 8th 2011, in Ibadan, I don’t know what really happened that day. That day, he called Yoruba elders and leaders “Rascals.” After that, he promised to create jobs and improve power sector, but as I’m typing this my battery is in 30percent (not ‪#‎30percentornothing‬, mind you), and scores of my brothers and future leaders were killed early this year during the scam on Nigerian youths they called it Immigration Recruitment. They collected N1000 each from over 700,000 Nigerians for 5000 vacancies, out of which over 3500 have been shared to governors, senators and PDP chieftains. Still no job, no refund and lives were lost. In fact, the minister that carried out that exercise is still in office living large. Is that what Jonathan promised? If so, he’s delivered sorrows, tears and blood. Great apologies to the Great Fela.

On February 9th 2011, Mr. President was in Bauchi and he promised to intensify oil and gas exploration in the North-East as part of efforts to harness resources for economic development. Also, he pledged to boost agriculture, power and water supply for wealth creation and revenue generation. He further assured that projects such as the Mambilla hydro-electricity, Jada irrigation project and Kafin Zaki dam in Taraba, Adamawa and Bauchi would be pursued to boost agriculture and industrial development, here is an evidence of this particular vow. Then, he promised that his administration would establish two universities in the region. Sadly that’s the same North our President can’t even visit today. So painful we have lost the region to terrorists in a state that has sovereignty. We still have a President, don’t we?

Even if those universities were built and completed today, who would attend them? Is it the thousands of Youth who have been forced to either join Boko Haram or the alternative, the Civilian JTF? Or the over 200 Chibok Girls who were writing their Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations when they were crudely kidnapped by terrorists and criminally abandoned by the President? Or the hundreds of thousands who have been displaced by the war? Who would attend your new universities, Mr. President?

On this day in 2011, it was February 12th precisely in Port Harcourt, a lot of people lost their lives trying to listen to the promises which have not seen the light of day. President Jonathan announced plans that the NNPC, in partnership with the private sector, would establish a petrochemical plant in the Niger Delta. He also promised the plant will create job opportunities for the Niger Delta youths. Then he went ahead to promise the implementation of Local Content Law and Petroleum Industry Bill. You all can judge if that has been done today.

Also he has promised in Benue in 2011 that he will build the 2nd Niger Bridge within four years of his stay in office. This is the project that woos Ndi Igbo and immediately they call him ‘Azikiwe’. Today, nothing has been done; I believe the Ndi-Igbo are wiser now. Or are they still waiting for the 2nd Niger Bridge? They will only get 2nd fooling. WATCH IT.

President Jonathan trying to show his team has some good governance idea or policies that could liberate the people, he went to Jos on February 17th 2011 and promised them what looks like mere wishful thinking. Our ‘transforming’ President promised the people of Plateau that he will refocus on the solid mineral development of the state and make it one of the key revenue sources in Nigeria. He also promised to build more dams and complete ongoing ones, so as to boost agricultural growth. Inasmuch as I agree that Dr. Adeshina the minister of Agriculture is doing great, but I think he’s doing what he’s doing to save his own career, if he opposes one of Jonathan’s evil policy tomorrow he’ll be sacked just the way he sacked his best minister in 2013, Danladi Usman, and the light of his administration Bolaji Abdulai all because the people that nominated them pick up the membership of the opposition party, APC. This is a serious government, indeed. And that same day, Mr. Jonathan promised to complete the Vom-Manchok-Jos road to boost economic links between Plateau and Kaduna states; I have not been there. Please, someone should confirm if the road has been completed.

In Kogi State on the 21st of February, he promised that the dredging of the River Niger and Lokoja-Abuja road dualisation would be completed’ very soon.’ The last time I use that road, it was wahala; in fact I saw AIT bus inside a big mud and Mrs. Owoeye Wise can tell you her story. That road almost cost the Kogi State Governor his life on that road. Was that part of the promise?
The next day, our President went to Kwara and pledged that the irrigation project in Shonga would be completed “in a few months” to boost the commercial farming activities of the New Nigeria Farmers in the area. He also said the Jebba-Mokwa Road and Jebba Bridge would be given adequate attention to ease transportation in the area. Sadly the only thing I can recognize Shonga Farms for is their sweet banana which the government of Senator Bukola Saraki kick-start and dully been followed up by incumbent Governor Abdul Fathia Ahmed. What can our president point at?

On 24th of that same love month of February 2011, our President was in Aba where he promised his adopted Ndi Igbo brothers that he would make Aba “the economic city of the country” by rehabilitating their ailing industries and creating enabling environment for them for a proudly “made in Aba” products. The last Jeans I bought was made in China. Maybe after this election if our Igbo brothers fall for this gimmick again, he might keep his promise this time.

On the 25th of February in 2011 in Anambra state, I remember vividly how the APGA leaders and PDP leaders fought shamelessly to endorse President Jonathan. In fact, Igbo leaders said he’s their son and they were blunt to tell their wards, “This is Azikiwe. He will do what our late son Azikiwe did for us.” I was happy for him, because he was their hope; but how far has he given back to these people that love him dearly? He promised to fix ALL roads leading to Anambra state and South East in general. I saw on TVC how Anambra and Enugu people are complaining about bad federal roads. If Anambra people can complain like this imagine how federal roads in Abia and Ebonyi state will be. Also, President Jonathan promised to tackle erosion in South East. NTA can’t even cover this lie as any news from South East is erosion news.

In Niger state, he promised more power generation. Perhaps the most important aspect of his promises is that his government would map out a five-year strategic plan for road projects; but sadly he met 2962 megawatts from the Yar’dua government, today what we our country is generating is 2600 megawatts haven received over billions of dollars for power.

President Jonathan promised many Nigerians that things will change for better but the reverse has happened. President Jonathan promised young Northern people that he would give them life, give them education, better their lives and lead them to greatness. He can’t even protect them from terrorism. He just doesn’t give a damn.

President Jonathan promised to unite Nigerians, but his government has so divide Nigerians that a Yoruba wife is so opposed to his Igbo husband while a Hausa husband so dislike the families and sibling of his Ijaw wife.
President Jonathan promised the continuation of rule of law as being witnessed during the Government of Late President Umoru Musa Yar’dua but instead, lives of innocent Nigerians were being lost, big people looting the vulnerable and walking free. Impunity is the order of the day. Corruption is so legal those government officials steal at will and get no jail once they can say, “Goodluck Nigeria 2015”. I have never witnessed such a corrupt government driven by impunity and shenanigans since I was born.

It’s a fact that if this country should continue with someone like President Jonathan as President, Nigeria will be so divided and insecurity will spread. This government, as plainly demonstrated by its leader, has no idea how to curb terrorism. They have no clue how to better the lives of people they are governing or propose progressive government policies.
If President Jonathan could fulfill all those promises he made during the electioneering period of 2011 (some of which I have highlighted with the help of Oluwaseun Egghead Odewale’s letter ), I’ll not only support and endorse his candidature; I’ll bring in all my machinery of about 7500 volunteers in my group to support this man.

But as it stands, I’m a no Jonathanian; I’m anti-GEJITES and I hate this type of transformation my people are witnessing. Transformation that brings about Touts Across Nigeria to loot us dry. God forbid!

A leader is someone who leads people to accomplish a task; a leader is someone who people look unto as a role model. Someone once described a leader as someone who can make others turn his dream into their passion. I agree with the last analogy.

Presidents are supposed to be leaders. They are supposed to be good examples to the citizens they lead, govern or rule. They are supposed to be people with the ability to transform and redirect a failing system. They are supposed to be the guardian of the people who voted them in (including those who didn’t even vote them or like what they look like.) Presidents owe their entire country service, whether they belong to the ruling party or not.

Nigeria’s case shouldn’t be an exception, especially as our democracy is getting deeper. Without a doubt, we should be better off today, but due to sentiments we used in choosing, judging and rating our leaders has cost us many years of growth.

Prior to the 2011 elections, in the spirit of federalism and continuity, President Goodluck Jonathan made a vow to Nigerians in the Diaspora, the members of his party, a group of Northern Elders and Nigerians in general, that he won’t stay in office beyond 2015. In fact, I know someone who fell in love with the President because of this promise (though she presently dislikes his ways, leadership style and his pro-corruption way of life).

The Promise from President Jonathan that he won’t be contesting 2015 election had made headlines then, but just penultimate Thursday evening, I read that President Jonathan had declared his intention to seek re-election. The little boy in me has been telling me; “This guy might still have that humility in him and might not contest”, but that little boy was sadly mistaken and disappointed. I saw him take delivery his nomination form, and I said, “So he was lying back then, right? Did he deceive us? Oh, no!” Here is evidence of his promise.

Yes, it may be President Jonathan’s constitutional right to want to seek a another term in office. I don’t know how legitimate it is for him to be sworn in thrice as the country’s constitution is against this, but if he gets re-elected in 2015, that means he would have been sworn in the 3rd term. That is unconstitutional and against the law of the land, but what do I know? The lawyers and the court will argue that out and translate to us.

However, as a Nigerian citizen, before voting last election, I had listened to the programs candidates presented before electorates, also the manifestos of their political parties, and I still have that of President Jonathan. The question is, which one has he fulfilled? Which one has he failed in? Is he re-electable? Can we trust him again? Ok, before you answer those questions, here are the promised President Jonathan made to electorates while campaigning round the country prior to 2011 elections.If President Jonathan or some of his handlers won’t remember his promises during campaign, here are few of his promises with evidence. On the 12th of October 2010, he had told Nigerians in Kaduna that he’s a man of his words; evidence, can we still believe those words? Close to 5years after, there’s still not appreciable improvement in power supply in Nigeria.

Also, President Jonathan, to fool our traditional rulers to endorse him and compel their communities to vote for him, he promised constitutional roles for them. Do our Obas, Emirs and Obis have these roles now? Did he send any bill to National Assembly to effect these roles? Or GEJITES want to argue he didn’t say it? You said this on the 27th of December 2010 and here is one article someone posted about it…. It is almost four years now sir, we still await his executive bill to National Assembly on this issue.

“If I win the election, within my four years in office, I will establish domestic airports in all the states without airports.” Those are the words of Mr. President on March 17th 2011 in Jigawa after seeing the airport being built by Sule Lamido of Jigawa. Besides this one, the Moshood Abilola Airport in the State of Osun is being built by the Rauf Aregbesola administration. Even the president’s home town of Bayelsa doesn’t have; Ebonyi does not, Ogun, Ekiti et el to mention few. All we see is Stella Odua’s cosmetic rehabilitation and corruption-driven aviation industry. President Jonathan has not built a single airport in the last 4 years.

Also, he promised Nigerians while campaigning in Nassarawa state that he would build one university in each of the state of the federation; I wonder if this promise has been fulfilled. All we know about is $20 billion missing money; no new government-owned university in Lagos where I stay. Do you have in your state? The first developmental plan of Yakubu Gowon that built universities of first choice and so many institutions today and airport is not up to N3billion(I’ll explain in my next article). Yet someone got $20billion in her purse? Indeed, deris God o!

On February 8th 2011, in Ibadan, I don’t know what really happened that day. That day, he called Yoruba elders and leaders “Rascals.” After that, he promised to create jobs and improve power sector, but as I’m typing this my battery is in 30percent (not ‪#‎30percentornothing‬, mind you), and scores of my brothers and future leaders were killed early this year during the scam on Nigerian youths they called it Immigration Recruitment. They collected N1000 each from over 700,000 Nigerians for 5000 vacancies, out of which over 3500 have been shared to governors, senators and PDP chieftains. Still no job, no refund and lives were lost. In fact, the minister that carried out that exercise is still in office living large. Is that what Jonathan promised? If so, he’s delivered sorrows, tears and blood. Great apologies to the Great Fela.

On February 9th 2011, Mr. President was in Bauchi and he promised to intensify oil and gas exploration in the North-East as part of efforts to harness resources for economic development. Also, he pledged to boost agriculture, power and water supply for wealth creation and revenue generation. He further assured that projects such as the Mambilla hydro-electricity, Jada irrigation project and Kafin Zaki dam in Taraba, Adamawa and Bauchi would be pursued to boost agriculture and industrial development, here is an evidence of this particular vow. Then, he promised that his administration would establish two universities in the region. Sadly that’s the same North our President can’t even visit today. So painful we have lost the region to terrorists in a state that has sovereignty. We still have a President, don’t we?

Even if those universities were built and completed today, who would attend them? Is it the thousands of Youth who have been forced to either join Boko Haram or the alternative, the Civilian JTF? Or the over 200 Chibok Girls who were writing their Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations when they were crudely kidnapped by terrorists and criminally abandoned by the President? Or the hundreds of thousands who have been displaced by the war? Who would attend your new universities, Mr. President?

On this day in 2011, it was February 12th precisely in Port Harcourt, a lot of people lost their lives trying to listen to the promises which have not seen the light of day. President Jonathan announced plans that the NNPC, in partnership with the private sector, would establish a petrochemical plant in the Niger Delta. He also promised the plant will create job opportunities for the Niger Delta youths. Then he went ahead to promise the implementation of Local Content Law and Petroleum Industry Bill. You all can judge if that has been done today.

Also he has promised in Benue in 2011 that he will build the 2nd Niger Bridge within four years of his stay in office. This is the project that woos Ndi Igbo and immediately they call him ‘Azikiwe’. Today, nothing has been done; I believe the Ndi-Igbo are wiser now. Or are they still waiting for the 2nd Niger Bridge? They will only get 2nd fooling. WATCH IT.

President Jonathan trying to show his team has some good governance idea or policies that could liberate the people, he went to Jos on February 17th 2011 and promised them what looks like mere wishful thinking. Our ‘transforming’ President promised the people of Plateau that he will refocus on the solid mineral development of the state and make it one of the key revenue sources in Nigeria. He also promised to build more dams and complete ongoing ones, so as to boost agricultural growth. Inasmuch as I agree that Dr. Adeshina the minister of Agriculture is doing great, but I think he’s doing what he’s doing to save his own career, if he opposes one of Jonathan’s evil policy tomorrow he’ll be sacked just the way he sacked his best minister in 2013, Danladi Usman, and the light of his administration Bolaji Abdulai all because the people that nominated them pick up the membership of the opposition party, APC. This is a serious government, indeed. And that same day, Mr. Jonathan promised to complete the Vom-Manchok-Jos road to boost economic links between Plateau and Kaduna states; I have not been there. Please, someone should confirm if the road has been completed.

In Kogi State on the 21st of February, he promised that the dredging of the River Niger and Lokoja-Abuja road dualisation would be completed’ very soon.’ The last time I use that road, it was wahala; in fact I saw AIT bus inside a big mud and Mrs. Owoeye Wise can tell you her story. That road almost cost the Kogi State Governor his life on that road. Was that part of the promise?
The next day, our President went to Kwara and pledged that the irrigation project in Shonga would be completed “in a few months” to boost the commercial farming activities of the New Nigeria Farmers in the area. He also said the Jebba-Mokwa Road and Jebba Bridge would be given adequate attention to ease transportation in the area. Sadly the only thing I can recognize Shonga Farms for is their sweet banana which the government of Senator Bukola Saraki kick-start and dully been followed up by incumbent Governor Abdul Fathia Ahmed. What can our president point at?

On 24th of that same love month of February 2011, our President was in Aba where he promised his adopted Ndi Igbo brothers that he would make Aba “the economic city of the country” by rehabilitating their ailing industries and creating enabling environment for them for a proudly “made in Aba” products. The last Jeans I bought was made in China. Maybe after this election if our Igbo brothers fall for this gimmick again, he might keep his promise this time.

On the 25th of February in 2011 in Anambra state, I remember vividly how the APGA leaders and PDP leaders fought shamelessly to endorse President Jonathan. In fact, Igbo leaders said he’s their son and they were blunt to tell their wards, “This is Azikiwe. He will do what our late son Azikiwe did for us.” I was happy for him, because he was their hope; but how far has he given back to these people that love him dearly? He promised to fix ALL roads leading to Anambra state and South East in general. I saw on TVC how Anambra and Enugu people are complaining about bad federal roads. If Anambra people can complain like this imagine how federal roads in Abia and Ebonyi state will be. Also, President Jonathan promised to tackle erosion in South East. NTA can’t even cover this lie as any news from South East is erosion news.

In Niger state, he promised more power generation. Perhaps the most important aspect of his promises is that his government would map out a five-year strategic plan for road projects; but sadly he met 2962 megawatts from the Yar’dua government, today what we our country is generating is 2600 megawatts haven received over billions of dollars for power.

President Jonathan promised many Nigerians that things will change for better but the reverse has happened. President Jonathan promised young Northern people that he would give them life, give them education, better their lives and lead them to greatness. He can’t even protect them from terrorism. He just doesn’t give a damn.

President Jonathan promised to unite Nigerians, but his government has so divide Nigerians that a Yoruba wife is so opposed to his Igbo husband while a Hausa husband so dislike the families and sibling of his Ijaw wife.
President Jonathan promised the continuation of rule of law as being witnessed during the Government of Late President Umoru Musa Yar’dua but instead, lives of innocent Nigerians were being lost, big people looting the vulnerable and walking free. Impunity is the order of the day. Corruption is so legal those government officials steal at will and get no jail once they can say, “Goodluck Nigeria 2015”. I have never witnessed such a corrupt government driven by impunity and shenanigans since I was born.

It’s a fact that if this country should continue with someone like President Jonathan as President, Nigeria will be so divided and insecurity will spread. This government, as plainly demonstrated by its leader, has no idea how to curb terrorism. They have no clue how to better the lives of people they are governing or propose progressive government policies.
If President Jonathan could fulfill all those promises he made during the electioneering period of 2011 (some of which I have highlighted with the help of Oluwaseun Egghead Odewale’s letter ), I’ll not only support and endorse his candidature; I’ll bring in all my machinery of about 7500 volunteers in my group to support this man.

Considering that the Military vacated MUBI 2 hours before they arrived, was it really a handover? Every day they announce the impending capture of Yola during their public sessions in Mubi and instead of assurances what we get from the Nigerian leadership is a deafening silence. What really is happening? Do I also run away? Where do I go to? Can anyone reading this help me? My life is truly scattered, my parents are in Doumo in Cameroon, my relations are scattered in several villages in Nigeria and Cameroon, I have over 30 internally displaced persons to support here in Yola and my savings have been depleted to zero level. Presidents owe their entire country service, whether they belong to the ruling party or not.

Nigeria’s case shouldn’t be an exception, especially as our democracy is getting deeper. Without a doubt, we should be better off today, but due to sentiments we used in choosing, judging and rating our leaders has cost us many years of growth.

Prior to the 2011 elections, in the spirit of federalism and continuity, President Goodluck Jonathan made a vow to Nigerians in the Diaspora, the members of his party, a group of Northern Elders and Nigerians in general, that he won’t stay in office beyond 2015. In fact, I know someone who fell in love with the President because of this promise (though she presently dislikes his ways, leadership style and his pro-corruption way of life).

The Promise from President Jonathan that he won’t be contesting 2015 election had made headlines then, but just penultimate Thursday evening, I read that President Jonathan had declared his intention to seek re-election. The little boy in me has been telling me; “This guy might still have that humility in him and might not contest”, but that little boy was sadly mistaken and disappointed. I saw him take delivery his nomination form, and I said, “So he was lying back then, right? Did he deceive us? Oh, no!” Here is evidence of his promise.

Yes, it may be President Jonathan’s constitutional right to want to seek a another term in office. I don’t know how legitimate it is for him to be sworn in thrice as the country’s constitution is against this, but if he gets re-elected in 2015, that means he would have been sworn in the 3rd term. That is unconstitutional and against the law of the land, but what do I know? The lawyers and the court will argue that out and translate to us.

However, as a Nigerian citizen, before voting last election, I had listened to the programs candidates presented before electorates, also the manifestos of their political parties, and I still have that of President Jonathan. The question is, which one has he fulfilled? Which one has he failed in? Is he re-electable? Can we trust him again? Ok, before you answer those questions, here are the promised President Jonathan made to electorates while campaigning round the country prior to 2011 elections.If President Jonathan or some of his handlers won’t remember his promises during campaign, here are few of his promises with evidence. On the 12th of October 2010, he had told Nigerians in Kaduna that he’s a man of his words; evidence, can we still believe those words? Close to 5years after, there’s still not appreciable improvement in power supply in Nigeria.

Also, President Jonathan, to fool our traditional rulers to endorse him and compel their communities to vote for him, he promised constitutional roles for them. Do our Obas, Emirs and Obis have these roles now? Did he send any bill to National Assembly to effect these roles? Or GEJITES want to argue he didn’t say it? You said this on the 27th of December 2010 and here is one article someone posted about it…. It is almost four years now sir, we still await his executive bill to National Assembly on this issue.

“If I win the election, within my four years in office, I will establish domestic airports in all the states without airports.” Those are the words of Mr. President on March 17th 2011 in Jigawa after seeing the airport being built by Sule Lamido of Jigawa. Besides this one, the Moshood Abilola Airport in the State of Osun is being built by the Rauf Aregbesola administration. Even the president’s home town of Bayelsa doesn’t have; Ebonyi does not, Ogun, Ekiti et el to mention few. All we see is Stella Odua’s cosmetic rehabilitation and corruption-driven aviation industry. President Jonathan has not built a single airport in the last 4 years.

Also, he promised Nigerians while campaigning in Nassarawa state that he would build one university in each of the state of the federation; I wonder if this promise has been fulfilled. All we know about is $20 billion missing money; no new government-owned university in Lagos where I stay. Do you have in your state? The first developmental plan of Yakubu Gowon that built universities of first choice and so many institutions today and airport is not up to N3billion(I’ll explain in my next article). Yet someone got $20billion in her purse? Indeed, deris God o!

On February 8th 2011, in Ibadan, I don’t know what really happened that day. That day, he called Yoruba elders and leaders “Rascals.” After that, he promised to create jobs and improve power sector, but as I’m typing this my battery is in 30percent (not ‪#‎30percentornothing‬, mind you), and scores of my brothers and future leaders were killed early this year during the scam on Nigerian youths they called it Immigration Recruitment. They collected N1000 each from over 700,000 Nigerians for 5000 vacancies, out of which over 3500 have been shared to governors, senators and PDP chieftains. Still no job, no refund and lives were lost. In fact, the minister that carried out that exercise is still in office living large. Is that what Jonathan promised? If so, he’s delivered sorrows, tears and blood. Great apologies to the Great Fela.

On February 9th 2011, Mr. President was in Bauchi and he promised to intensify oil and gas exploration in the North-East as part of efforts to harness resources for economic development. Also, he pledged to boost agriculture, power and water supply for wealth creation and revenue generation. He further assured that projects such as the Mambilla hydro-electricity, Jada irrigation project and Kafin Zaki dam in Taraba, Adamawa and Bauchi would be pursued to boost agriculture and industrial development, here is an evidence of this particular vow. Then, he promised that his administration would establish two universities in the region. Sadly that’s the same North our President can’t even visit today. So painful we have lost the region to terrorists in a state that has sovereignty. We still have a President, don’t we?

Even if those universities were built and completed today, who would attend them? Is it the thousands of Youth who have been forced to either join Boko Haram or the alternative, the Civilian JTF? Or the over 200 Chibok Girls who were writing their Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations when they were crudely kidnapped by terrorists and criminally abandoned by the President? Or the hundreds of thousands who have been displaced by the war? Who would attend your new universities, Mr. President?

On this day in 2011, it was February 12th precisely in Port Harcourt, a lot of people lost their lives trying to listen to the promises which have not seen the light of day. President Jonathan announced plans that the NNPC, in partnership with the private sector, would establish a petrochemical plant in the Niger Delta. He also promised the plant will create job opportunities for the Niger Delta youths. Then he went ahead to promise the implementation of Local Content Law and Petroleum Industry Bill. You all can judge if that has been done today.

Also he has promised in Benue in 2011 that he will build the 2nd Niger Bridge within four years of his stay in office. This is the project that woos Ndi Igbo and immediately they call him ‘Azikiwe’. Today, nothing has been done; I believe the Ndi-Igbo are wiser now. Or are they still waiting for the 2nd Niger Bridge? They will only get 2nd fooling. WATCH IT.

President Jonathan trying to show his team has some good governance idea or policies that could liberate the people, he went to Jos on February 17th 2011 and promised them what looks like mere wishful thinking. Our ‘transforming’ President promised the people of Plateau that he will refocus on the solid mineral development of the state and make it one of the key revenue sources in Nigeria. He also promised to build more dams and complete ongoing ones, so as to boost agricultural growth. Inasmuch as I agree that Dr. Adeshina the minister of Agriculture is doing great, but I think he’s doing what he’s doing to save his own career, if he opposes one of Jonathan’s evil policy tomorrow he’ll be sacked just the way he sacked his best minister in 2013, Danladi Usman, and the light of his administration Bolaji Abdulai all because the people that nominated them pick up the membership of the opposition party, APC. This is a serious government, indeed. And that same day, Mr. Jonathan promised to complete the Vom-Manchok-Jos road to boost economic links between Plateau and Kaduna states; I have not been there. Please, someone should confirm if the road has been completed.

In Kogi State on the 21st of February, he promised that the dredging of the River Niger and Lokoja-Abuja road dualisation would be completed’ very soon.’ The last time I use that road, it was wahala; in fact I saw AIT bus inside a big mud and Mrs. Owoeye Wise can tell you her story. That road almost cost the Kogi State Governor his life on that road. Was that part of the promise?
The next day, our President went to Kwara and pledged that the irrigation project in Shonga would be completed “in a few months” to boost the commercial farming activities of the New Nigeria Farmers in the area. He also said the Jebba-Mokwa Road and Jebba Bridge would be given adequate attention to ease transportation in the area. Sadly the only thing I can recognize Shonga Farms for is their sweet banana which the government of Senator Bukola Saraki kick-start and dully been followed up by incumbent Governor Abdul Fathia Ahmed. What can our president point at?

On 24th of that same love month of February 2011, our President was in Aba where he promised his adopted Ndi Igbo brothers that he would make Aba “the economic city of the country” by rehabilitating their ailing industries and creating enabling environment for them for a proudly “made in Aba” products. The last Jeans I bought was made in China. Maybe after this election if our Igbo brothers fall for this gimmick again, he might keep his promise this time.

On the 25th of February in 2011 in Anambra state, I remember vividly how the APGA leaders and PDP leaders fought shamelessly to endorse President Jonathan. In fact, Igbo leaders said he’s their son and they were blunt to tell their wards, “This is Azikiwe. He will do what our late son Azikiwe did for us.” I was happy for him, because he was their hope; but how far has he given back to these people that love him dearly? He promised to fix ALL roads leading to Anambra state and South East in general. I saw on TVC how Anambra and Enugu people are complaining about bad federal roads. If Anambra people can complain like this imagine how federal roads in Abia and Ebonyi state will be. Also, President Jonathan promised to tackle erosion in South East. NTA can’t even cover this lie as any news from South East is erosion news.

In Niger state, he promised more power generation. Perhaps the most important aspect of his promises is that his government would map out a five-year strategic plan for road projects; but sadly he met 2962 megawatts from the Yar’dua government, today what we our country is generating is 2600 megawatts haven received over billions of dollars for power.

President Jonathan promised many Nigerians that things will change for better but the reverse has happened. President Jonathan promised young Northern people that he would give them life, give them education, better their lives and lead them to greatness. He can’t even protect them from terrorism. He just doesn’t give a damn.

President Jonathan promised to unite Nigerians, but his government has so divide Nigerians that a Yoruba wife is so opposed to his Igbo husband while a Hausa husband so dislike the families and sibling of his Ijaw wife.

President Jonathan promised the continuation of rule of law as being witnessed during the Government of Late President Umoru Musa Yar’dua but instead, lives of innocent Nigerians were being lost, big people looting the vulnerable and walking free. Impunity is the order of the day. Corruption is so legal those government officials steal at will and get no jail once they can say, “Goodluck Nigeria 2015”. I have never witnessed such a corrupt government driven by impunity and shenanigans since I was born.

It’s a fact that if this country should continue with someone like President Jonathan as President, Nigeria will be so divided and insecurity will spread. This government, as plainly demonstrated by its leader, has no idea how to curb terrorism. They have no clue how to better the lives of people they are governing or propose progressive government policies.
If President Jonathan could fulfill all those promises he made during the electioneering period of 2011 (some of which I have highlighted with the help of Oluwaseun Egghead Odewale’s letter ), I’ll not only support and endorse his candidature; I’ll bring in all my machinery of about 7500 volunteers in my group to support this man.

But as it stands, I’m a no Jonathanian; I’m anti-GEJITES and I hate this type of transformation my people are witnessing. Transformation that brings about Touts Across Nigeria to loot us dry. God forbid!

Kwankwasiyya 2015...

My origin is from Majorca, which is a great city on the sea, between two mountains and divided by a small valley, a commercial city, with two wonderful harbors. The city is on the island also known as Majorca, and most of its land is populated with fig and olive trees. My father was a well respected man in the city. I was his only son.
When I was six, he sent me to a priest who taught me to read the Gospel and logic, which I finished in six years. After that I left Majorca and traveled to the city of Larda, in the region of Castillion, which was the center of learning for Christians in that region. At least 1,000-1,500 Christian students gathered there. All were under the administration of the priest who taught them. I studied the Gospel and its language for another four years. After that I left for Bologne in the region of Anbardia. Bologne is a very large city, it being the center of learning for all the people of that region. Every year, more than 2,000 students gather together from different places. They cover themselves with rough cloth which they call the “Hue of God.”
All of them, whether the son of a workman or the son of a ruler wear this wrap, in order to make the students distinct from others. Only the priest teaches controls and directs them. I lived in the church with an aged priest. He was greatly respected by the people because of his knowledge and religiousness and asceticism, which distinguished him from the other Christian priests. Questions and requests for advice came from everywhere, from kings and rulers, along with presents and gifts. They hoped that he would accept their presents and grant them his blessings. This priest taught me the principles of Christianity and its rulings. I became very close to him by serving and assisting him with his duties until I became one of his most trusted assistants, so that he trusted me with the keys of his domicile in the church and of the food and the drink stores. He kept for himself only the key of a small room where he used to sleep. I think, and Allah knows best, that he kept his treasure chest in there. I was a student and servant for a period of 10 years; then he fell ill and failed to attend the meetings of his fellow priests.
During his absence the priests discussed some religious matters, until they came to what was said by the Almighty Allah through his Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) in the Gospel: “After him will come a Prophet called Paraclete.” They argued a great deal about this Prophet and as to who he was among the prophets. Everyone gave his opinion according to his knowledge and understanding; and they ended without achieving any benefit in that issue. I went to my priest, and as usual he asked about what was discussed in the meeting that day. I mentioned to him the different opinions of priests about the name Paraclete, and how they finished the meeting without clarifying its meaning.
He asked me: “What was your answer?” I gave my opinion which was taken from interpretation of a well known exegesis. He said that I was nearly correct like some priests, and the other priests were wrong.
“But the truth is different from all of that. This is because the interpretation of that noble name is known only to a small number of well versed scholars. And we posses only a little knowledge.”
I fell down and kissed his feet, saying: “Sir, you know that I traveled and came to you from a far distant country, I have served you now for more than 10 years; and have attained knowledge beyond estimation, so please favor me and tell me the truth about this name.” The priest then wept and said: “My son, by God, you are very much dear to me for serving me and devoting yourself to my care. Know the truth about this name, and there is a great benefit, but there is also a great danger. And I fear that when you know this truth, and the Christians discover that, you will be killed immediately.”I said: “By God, by the Gospel and He who was sent with it, I shall never speak any word about what you will tell me, I shall keep it in my heart.” He said: “My son, when you came here from your country, I asked you if it is near to the Muslims, and whether they made raids against you and if you made raids against them. This was to test your hatred for Islam. Know, my son, that Paraclete is the name of their Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), to whom was revealed the fourth book as mentioned by Daniel. His way is the clear way which is mentioned in the Gospel.” I said: “Then sir, what do you say about the religion of these Christians?”
He said:”My son, if these Christians remained on the original religion of Jesus, then they would have been on God’s religion, because the religion of Jesus and all the other prophets is the true religion of God. But they changed it and became unbelievers.” I asked him: “Then, sir, what is the salvation from this?” He said “Oh my son, embracing Islam.” I asked him: “Will the one who embraces Islam be saved?” He answered: “Yes, in this world and the next.” I said: “The prudent chooses for himself; if you know, sir the merit of Islam, then what keeps you from it?” He answered: “My son, the Almighty Allah did not expose me to the truth of Islam and the Prophet of Islam until after I have become old and my body weakened. Yes, there is no excuse for us in this, on the contrary, the proof of Allah has been established against us. If God had guided me to this when I was your age I would have left everything and adopted the religion of truth.
Love of this world is the essence of every sin, and look how I am esteemed, glorified and honored by the Christians, and how I am living in affluence and comfort! In my case, if I show a slight inclination toward Islam they would kill me immediately. Suppose that I was saved from them and succeeded in escaping to the Muslims, they would say, do not count your Islam as a favor upon us, rather you have benefited yourself only by entering the religion of truth, the religion that will save you from the punishment of Allah! So I would live among them as a poor old man of more than 90 years, without knowing their language, and would die among them starving. I am, and all praise is due to Allah, on the religion of Christ and on that which he came with, and Allah knows that from me.” So I asked him: “Do you advise me to go to the country of the Muslims and adopt their religion?” He said to me: “If you are wise and hope to save yourself, then race to that which will achieve this life and the Hereafter.

Great numbers of Christians who embraced Islam in the medieval period were never compelled. Rather it was a recognition of what they were already expecting. Anselm Tormeeda, a 14th century Christian scholar and priest, was one such person whose story is worth relating. He wrote a famous book, The Gift to the Intelligent for Refuting the Arguments of the Christians. Later known as Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Abdullah Al-Tarjuman, he relates his story:

My origin is from Majorca, which is a great city on the sea, between two mountains and divided by a small valley, a commercial city, with two wonderful harbors. The city is on the island also known as Majorca, and most of its land is populated with fig and olive trees. My father was a well respected man in the city. I was his only son.
When I was six, he sent me to a priest who taught me to read the Gospel and logic, which I finished in six years. After that I left Majorca and traveled to the city of Larda, in the region of Castillion, which was the center of learning for Christians in that region. At least 1,000-1,500 Christian students gathered there. All were under the administration of the priest who taught them. I studied the Gospel and its language for another four years. After that I left for Bologne in the region of Anbardia. Bologne is a very large city, it being the center of learning for all the people of that region. Every year, more than 2,000 students gather together from different places. They cover themselves with rough cloth which they call the “Hue of God.”
All of them, whether the son of a workman or the son of a ruler wear this wrap, in order to make the students distinct from others. Only the priest teaches controls and directs them. I lived in the church with an aged priest. He was greatly respected by the people because of his knowledge and religiousness and asceticism, which distinguished him from the other Christian priests. Questions and requests for advice came from everywhere, from kings and rulers, along with presents and gifts. They hoped that he would accept their presents and grant them his blessings. This priest taught me the principles of Christianity and its rulings. I became very close to him by serving and assisting him with his duties until I became one of his most trusted assistants, so that he trusted me with the keys of his domicile in the church and of the food and the drink stores. He kept for himself only the key of a small room where he used to sleep. I think, and Allah knows best, that he kept his treasure chest in there. I was a student and servant for a period of 10 years; then he fell ill and failed to attend the meetings of his fellow priests.
During his absence the priests discussed some religious matters, until they came to what was said by the Almighty Allah through his Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) in the Gospel: “After him will come a Prophet called Paraclete.” They argued a great deal about this Prophet and as to who he was among the prophets. Everyone gave his opinion according to his knowledge and understanding; and they ended without achieving any benefit in that issue. I went to my priest, and as usual he asked about what was discussed in the meeting that day. I mentioned to him the different opinions of priests about the name Paraclete, and how they finished the meeting without clarifying its meaning.
He asked me: “What was your answer?” I gave my opinion which was taken from interpretation of a well known exegesis. He said that I was nearly correct like some priests, and the other priests were wrong.
“But the truth is different from all of that. This is because the interpretation of that noble name is known only to a small number of well versed scholars. And we posses only a little knowledge.”
I fell down and kissed his feet, saying: “Sir, you know that I traveled and came to you from a far distant country, I have served you now for more than 10 years; and have attained knowledge beyond estimation, so please favor me and tell me the truth about this name.” The priest then wept and said: “My son, by God, you are very much dear to me for serving me and devoting yourself to my care. Know the truth about this name, and there is a great benefit, but there is also a great danger. And I fear that when you know this truth, and the Christians discover that, you will be killed immediately.”I said: “By God, by the Gospel and He who was sent with it, I shall never speak any word about what you will tell me, I shall keep it in my heart.” He said: “My son, when you came here from your country, I asked you if it is near to the Muslims, and whether they made raids against you and if you made raids against them. This was to test your hatred for Islam. Know, my son, that Paraclete is the name of their Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), to whom was revealed the fourth book as mentioned by Daniel. His way is the clear way which is mentioned in the Gospel.” I said: “Then sir, what do you say about the religion of these Christians?”
He said:”My son, if these Christians remained on the original religion of Jesus, then they would have been on God’s religion, because the religion of Jesus and all the other prophets is the true religion of God. But they changed it and became unbelievers.” I asked him: “Then, sir, what is the salvation from this?” He said “Oh my son, embracing Islam.” I asked him: “Will the one who embraces Islam be saved?” He answered: “Yes, in this world and the next.” I said: “The prudent chooses for himself; if you know, sir the merit of Islam, then what keeps you from it?” He answered: “My son, the Almighty Allah did not expose me to the truth of Islam and the Prophet of Islam until after I have become old and my body weakened. Yes, there is no excuse for us in this, on the contrary, the proof of Allah has been established against us. If God had guided me to this when I was your age I would have left everything and adopted the religion of truth.
Love of this world is the essence of every sin, and look how I am esteemed, glorified and honored by the Christians, and how I am living in affluence and comfort! In my case, if I show a slight inclination toward Islam they would kill me immediately. Suppose that I was saved from them and succeeded in escaping to the Muslims, they would say, do not count your Islam as a favor upon us, rather you have benefited yourself only by entering the religion of truth, the religion that will save you from the punishment of Allah! So I would live among them as a poor old man of more than 90 years, without knowing their language, and would die among them starving. I am, and all praise is due to Allah, on the religion of Christ and on that which he came with, and Allah knows that from me.” So I asked him: “Do you advise me to go to the country of the Muslims and adopt their religion?” He said to me: “If you are wise and hope to save yourself, then race to that which will achieve this life and the Hereafter.

16. And mention in the Book (the Qur'an, O Muhammad , the story of) Maryam (Mary), when she withdrew in seclusion from her family to a place facing east.
17. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our Ruh [angel Jibrael (Gabriel)], and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects.
18. She said: "Verily! I seek refuge with the Most Beneficent (Allah) from you, if you do fear Allah."

25. "And shake the trunk of date-palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe-dates upon you."
26. "So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being, say: 'Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) so I shall not speak to any human being this day.'"
27. Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him. They said: "O Mary! Indeed you have brought a thing Fariya (an unheard mighty thing).
28. "O sister (i.e. the like) of Harun (Aaron) [not the brother of Musa (Moses), but he was another pious man at the time of Maryam (Mary)]! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste woman."
29. Then she pointed to him. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"
30. "He ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: Verily! I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet;"
31. "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me Salat (prayer), and Zakat, as long as I live."
32. "And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest.
33. "And Salam (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!"
34. Such is 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). (it is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute).
35. It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah]. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is.
36. ['Iesa (Jesus) said]: "And verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path. (Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets)." [Tafsir At-Tabari]
37. Then the sects differed [i.e. the Christians about 'Iesa (Jesus)], so woe unto the disbelievers [those who gave false witness by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah] from the meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing Fire).
38. How clearly will they (polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us! But the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) today are in plain error.
39. And warn them (O Muhammad ) of the Day of grief and regrets, when the case has been decided, while (now) they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not.
40. Verily! We will inherit the earth and whatsoever is thereon. And to Us they all shall be returned,

Who wants to be a terrorist anyway

1. Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things.
2. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving;
3. Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creations of the Most Beneficent. Then look again: "Can you see any rifts?"
4. Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out.
5. And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayatin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire.
6. And for those who disbelieve in their Lord (Allah) is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination.
7. When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth.
8. It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?"
9. They will say: "Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'"
10. And they will say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!"
11. Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing Fire.
12. Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen (i.e. they do not see Him, nor His Punishment in the Hereafter, etc.), theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).
13. And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men).
14. Should not He Who has created know? And He is the Most Kind and Courteous (to His slaves) All-Aware (of everything).
15. He it is, Who has made the earth subservient to you (i.e. easy for you to walk, to live and to do agriculture on it, etc.), so walk in the path thereof and eat of His provision, and to Him will be the Resurrection.
16. Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah), will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes (as in an earthquake)?
17. Or do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah), will not send against you a violent whirlwind? Then you shall know how (terrible) has been My Warning?
18. And indeed those before them belied (the Messengers of Allah), then how terrible was My denial (punishment)?
19. Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings and folding them in? None upholds them except the Most Beneficent (Allah). Verily, He is the All-Seer of everything.
20. Who is he besides the Most Beneficent that can be an army to you to help you? The disbelievers are in nothing but delusion.
21. Who is he that can provide for you if He should withhold His provision? Nay, but they continue to be in pride, and (they) flee (from the truth).
22. Is he who walks without seeing on his face, more rightly guided, or he who (sees and) walks on a Straight Way (i.e. Islamic Monotheism).
23. Say it is He Who has created you, and endowed you with hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts. Little thanks you give.
24. Say: "It is He Who has created you from the earth, and to Him shall you be gathered (in the Hereafter)."
25. They say: "When will this promise (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) come to pass? if you are telling the truth."
26. Say (O Muhammad ): "The knowledge (of its exact time) is with Allah only, and I am only a plain warner."
27. But when they will see it (the torment on the Day of Resurrection) approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be different (black, sad, and in grieve), and it will be said (to them): "This is (the promise) which you were calling for!"
28. Say (O Muhammad ): "Tell me! If Allah destroys me, and those with me, or He bestows His Mercy on us, - who can save the disbelievers from a painful torment?"
29. Say: "He is the Most Beneficent (Allah), in Him we believe, and in Him we put our trust. So you will come to know who is it that is in manifest error."
30. Say (O Muhammad ): "Tell me! If (all) your water were to be sunk away, who then can supply you with flowing (spring) water?"

I have noticed a sharp difference in the cost of service provided by our GSM companies back at home and those in other African countries. The truth is that, perhaps nowhere in the world, are citizens sucked by these tse-tse flies as in Nigeria. The price differential is just terrible. We are essentially cows milked dry every minute of the day.

In the picture accompanying this post, the rates of data bundles in Sudan are given as published by one of their GSM companies, SUDANI ONE. Prepare your throat for a loud scream at the following comparison:

100MB is N47.00. In Nigeria it is N1000.00; a 20 times difference. Wayyo Allah!

1GB in Sudan costs N216. In Nigeria it is N3,000.

3GB in Sudan is N613. In Nigeria, it is N5,000. Scream Nigeria. Scream.

10GB in Sudan is N1,650. In Nigeria you get a bundle of 5GB, not 10GB wo, at N8,000 such that the 10GB in Nigeria will be somewhere around N13,000.

30GB doesn't exist in Nigeria. The suckers like you to return always for more milking. That means buying 5GB bundle 6 times a month at the rate of N8,000 each time, or N40,000 per month. In Sudan, you get a 30GB bundle at N4,365 only. Ten times less.

Haba Jama'a! What crime have we in Nigeria committed that we have no protectors? Why are we orphans? Are our parents dead?

Agreed that our GSM companies in Nigeria use their generators for electricity while in Sudan they have "NEPA" for 24/7. Is that enough a reason to charge us rates between 10 and 20 times higher?

Apart from electricity, every other thing is the same: HUAWEI equipment, rent, etc. In fact taxation here in Sudan is much higher amd wages lower.

The difference is that Sudanese have leaders that have their citizens at heart, not in hand for surrendering them to merciless multinational leeches. For example, both MTN and Zain are here and they offer these very low rates too, gridgingly I believe. Back at home, they are in no man's land where they can robb as they wish.

As I landed at the airport, I saw an MTN billboad in the reception hall boasting of offering roaming services in 11 eleven African countries. My jaw sagged! I told myself, "So these crooks are here too. Mhm."

Before I could finish with Sudanese immigration protocols, I switched on my phone and, behold, MTN was there at my gate, knocking and suddenly intruding. And before I could receive its welcome, it typically had this shocker for me:

"Yello! Welcome to Sudan. Enjoy roaming on MTN Sudan and browse at N0.05/KB, call Nigeria at N60/min, receive calls at N40/min & send SMS at N25/SMS".

Na ki wayon! I kindly declined the offer.

I do not need to explain why the following morning, I rushed to the nearest service centre to acquire a new line from Sudani One, taking a leave from MTN until I return to No-Man's Land. Right now, I am enjoying international calls at something like N10 per minute, while MTNNigeria is inviting me to send a text message, just a text message, to Nigeria at the cost of N25.00.

Something needs to be done to Nigeria, quickly. It is sick and a hostage to a gang of thieves. It needs both health and freedom. It needs a surgery to deliver it from these tumours that have ravaged its body, from the Ebola of corruption that has known no cure. Sudan is a poorer African sister, by far. But life here is cheaper - and safer. There is rule of law and security.

You mess up, and the government is ready to deal with you. In Nigeria, you mess up and the government will invite you to the ruling party to reward you with position and money. The president will pay you a condolence visit even if your greed has caused the death of 115 people. And expect the government to pay for rebuilding a bigger complex than the one you dreamt of or even buy you a jet.

The tentacles of MTN were pruned in Ghana too. They were once dismissed for exploitation. Finally, they were only allowed to return on terms set by the Ghanains.

Nigerians, by contrast, are orphans under a president who believes that theft of public treasury is not corruption. That is how $10million got its way to South Africa on an aircraft belonging to the oga of all pastors in Nigeria. Na wa! Before it, at least $10billion, "only", according to Ngozi finance, have disappeared at NNPC without a trace. It is not corruption. It is just petit theft.

Before I go out now to sip some coffee at a nearby joint as an expression of my newly discovered freedom, let me say I am sorry that MTN gets my bashing always but they, I must hasten to add, are not the only criminals. The others are equally guilty. Our service providers operate as a gang, a mafia, a syndicate. They are all the same. The last time I divorced MTN in 2011, it managed to return by launching its Supersaver package at the rate of N12/minute across all networks, like others do, against the N25 or N65 I was incriminating it for. Since then I have learnt to manage with the devil I know.

So my darling MTN, be resting, assured that there will be no more divorce. I will only continue to scream at your constant milking. For now, though, the cow is taking some rest in Khartoum. Our relationship will, however, continue to be as the one described once by an Arab poet:

"Of the greatest calamities of life on a person is (his) seeing an enemy whose friendship is a must."

REMIND ME: INDEPENDENCE FROM WHAT?

A decade after the migration to Madinah (Hijrah), the Prophet Muhammad returned to Makkah for a final pilgrimage. Over a hundred thousand Muslims gathered on the Plain of Arafat during the Hajj pilgrimage to hear him speak. Those gathered may not have realized that this would be his final address, as he passed away just a few weeks later. In this sermon, he encouraged Muslims to embrace racial equality, to treat women well, and to remain steadfast in faith.

Prophet Muhammad's Farewell Address

Delivered on the Plain of Arafat, 9 Dhul-Hijjah 10 H. (632 C.E.)
After praising and thanking Allah, he said:

"Oh, people! Lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.
Oh, people! Just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest...

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

Oh, people! It is true that you have certain rights with regard to women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

Oh, people! Listen to me in earnest! Worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat (charity). Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.
Oh, people! No prophet or apostle will come after me, and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, oh people, and understand the words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the Sunnah. If you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others, and those to others again. And may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, Oh Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people."
