I passed through there yesterday, the people there said they called emergency line (112), they were told that the call came to Lagos emergency zone they should keep on trying, it may connect to Ogun state own. When Dangote trailer killed some people at that same Tollgate, they came with Ambulance to evacuate the dead people with "112" on it. This country na cruise. |

Renowned cleric and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adeboye Enoch, has been urged to confirm to Nigerians whether President Muhammadu Buhari is truly dead or alive. 1st News reports that the request came from another cleric; the Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa. Specifically, Pastor Giwa on Monday, pleaded with Pastor Adeboye to tell Nigerians the actual status of the current Nigerian president. The cleric also urged those who supported Buhari’s emergence as President in 2015 to tell Nigerians the truth. In addition, Pastor Giwa reacted to the abduction of hundreds of schoolboys in Katsina; even as he lampooned the current service chiefs. “Pastor Adeboye and those who supported the APC to win the 2015 election should tell Nigerians whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari is alive or dead. It’s hard to understand why Nigeria would have a president who could not lay his life for his citizens by protecting them. By now, nobody should have advised the service chiefs to resign before they do so.” https://1stnews.com/pastor-adeboye-urged-to-confirm-if-president-buhari-dead-or-alive/?

Reports reached us yesterday that the North and South gates have been removed. This report was supported by uploaded pictures on Whatsapp and Facebook. The removal of South Gate is believed to have been perpetrated overnight as neighbouring occupants woke up to the shocking disappearance of the entrance barricade. It was quite astonishing to see that even a part of North gate was later removed at the early hours of yesterday. The removal of the gates is of course not unrelated to the on-going protest action and call made by three of the Staff Unions of the University community under the JAC. Our correspondent was able to gather that the removal of the gates must have been a well- calculated action by the School Management, who have had it difficult to get University workers into and out the Institution. It is believed that this action was to ensure that the resistance of the Staff Unions, who have been locking the gates to deprive University workers from gaining entrance to carry out due responsibilities, was broken. However, we are yet to hear any of the parties claim responsibility for the sudden disappearance of the School gates. Students have also expressed concerns about the removal of the gates, as they took to various social media and instant messaging platforms to pass comments on the incidence. Many who are beginning to doubt the possibility of the school resuming her new session by November 6th as timely scheduled, have started pleading to Staff Unions and the School Management to amicably resolve the on-going fracas. A day after the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure was invited to Ibadan quarters of the EFCC, the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU of the school staged a mighty protest within the school premises. The protest which started at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon had protesters chanting "Ole" and lasted till half past three the same afternoon. The VC who was recently invited by the EFCC over fraud and corruption allegations was accused by the Staff Unions of refusing to pay their long-term allowances. The Staff Unions requested the VC be removed with immediate effect and that the Federal Government set up a panel to audit FUTA account. The Staff Unions were heard saying "You can't be facing corruption charges and be ruling us. We don't want another Saraki." They went ahead to say "We're advising Prof. Gregory Adebiyi Daramola not to come to FUTA from 4pm this evening. Nobody must go to office tomorrow. We must resume here [the front of New Senate building, the VC's office]." "We're not on strike, we're on protest. If you don't come and you're caught, you're on your own. But if you come to work and join the protest, an injury to one is an injury to all" the protesters said. "It is our enemies who will not see tomorrow. They will have diabetes and the diabetes will kill them. They will have cancer. They will die of hunger" fiercely it got as they rounded up. Our correspondents were not allowed to go near the core of the protest as students were not allowed. However, one of the protesters who does not want his name disclosed told us the protest could go un-peacefully if they were provoked. Rumours have it that since the emergence of the Vice-Chancellor, FUTA Staff members have been deprived of some financial privileges as the VC trashed out autonomy of staff members on funds and disregarded due process in issues of leadership sustainability. The students on hearing the news, have continued to raise concerns on the possible consequences. It will be noted that the sophomore admissions list that should have been released is yet to be released. The students also hope it will be resolved soon, so it does not affect the academic calendar. As against the false news that Professor B.K. Alese was involved in the protest, the Dean is presently out of school and could not have been found anywhere near the protest ground.
