The Idea is to get as many cafes as possible under one place so that marketing opportunities become easier.
e.g If someone is interested in installing vending machines in a cyber-cafe they can log onto our site and make their proposals and all cafes registered with us will see the proposal.
So we can call it a portal for cybercafes. Other services can be hotspots, voucher sales e.t.c
We are interested in getting intouch with all cafes nation-wide if anyone knows a way of making this easier please let us know. Thanks
Business / Re: Why are Nigerians Yet To Make a Financial/Business Success of the Internet? by DC(m): 2:45am On Nov 19, 2005
Please tell me who will support you when you sit at home and try and cook up one venture and your bills are mounting. That is why the diaspora people have not done it. I would mention that there have been a few U.K consultant millionaires like Amosu (ringtones) and others. But it is not as rampant as it should be.

A major factor is labour costs, not just trust. Who will you tell to help you for nothing till the business takes off? Nobody, every one is in a rush. "i just have to get paid this week" or "I am doing my masters".

Also you cannot look at the diaspora without taking a backview of where they are coming from. Think of it they will tell you oh! I need to send western U. for so so and so that is why I am doing 3jobs. How can they now have winning ideas under such pressure, impossible.

SOLUTIONS:
A key way out of this mess is for forumns like this to act as liverage for peoples ideas. So you get like minded people knocking heads together.

Another alternative is to get the people back home working and not just expecting handouts from those abroad. So say introducing Outsourcing work. So if a nigerian man in australia has an idea of say: online market, all he needs is the data, send it back to nigeria they build the database and by the time he is rolling out his business plan the site is live.

Anyway a lot of people to be honest don't know where to start...
Business / Re: To Generate Profit from Vending Machines in Nigeria? by DC(m): 1:32am On Nov 19, 2005
Good thinking but you did not mention the ratio of coverage. How many physical machines do you want to distribute? 10 or 10000 it makes a difference? who do you want to target, agegroup/class/proffession

The Whole nation or just one highclass spot. Well you are currently trying to solve "an old age problem" in Nigeria. That is, doing business with almost no human interaction. If the Mobile Phone industry has done it then you can. I mean people buy vouchers and credit their phones. When they do this, they are communicating with a V.machine, likewise your vending machine.

Now the business issue on profitability depends on the PPP. Price/Product/Place So this is what i believe your question is asking. The word Generating means how much can you make and not if it will work. Of course it will work as far as you look after your PPP. I must say that the main reason why the main brewers have not tried yet is b/c they have not yet researched it. It only takes someone to start and everybody will jump in.

As for Power Supply it will not be your problem. Please tell me does cocacola worry if you sell cold or hot coke.

Anyway let me make my suggestions on the PPP
Price --- less than 10% of local street traders
Product --- Scarce Canned Fruit Juices
Place --- Cyber Cafes (They will buy your franchise<machine> and you just
supply the drinks)

For those who don't know, the computers in cybercafes are all vending machines. You use it to visit internet sites e.t.c So please tell me does it take Naira (notes or coins) and have the "areaboys" seized it. NO! All you need is a password finish...

Currently I am trying to develope a Cybercafe network so that things like this can be Implemented easily. see my posting under internet -- cybercafe network. All The Best.....

Still waiting for more persons or ideas on how to gather and collect locations with contact details of Cybercafes (Nationwide). No village/hamlet is too small just indicate Number of cafe, info you have. If there are more persons wiilling to join this project or suggest any techniques of collecting, I will be willing to hear from you. Please we are not trying to link outside vsat or anything like that we are just trying to develope local internet content that will meet the needs for local people. Thank you Awaiting.....

We need to get this going, We are looking to allocate serial Nos to all cafe's in the country. Then from there we can then link them via a portal or server. Kodewrita is this what you were thinking well the time is right for this. If anyone is willing to help, please fill the easy form under network in dialcentre.com to add your local cafe or become a partner.

Those who think cafe's are now going to go burst because someone can connect to internet from his toilet are joking. CyberCafe's primary function is to browse/netphone, there are now lots of other functions that they could be used for and is evolving everyday. Just have a look at what is going on in other countries were 70% of homes are connected.

Belguim -- Coffeshop, colour laser printing, live entertainment, poster printing, multimedia receptions.

U.K -- Conferencing, Coffeshop, Disc writing, Pay Bills, Cashpoints

China -- Gaming

USA -- Video Editing, Stopover

India -- Call centres, contract online work

Sweden -- Wifi hot spots for mobile devices

I think we are now at the peak of using internet cafes for just browsing, in Nigeria and are going to soon start seeing a wave of these new uses in local cafes.

How can one setup something like this. Does it already exist? I am sure it doesn't. Basically a No# allocated to each cafe in the country. Who knows it can even be taken internationally too. cheesy

Uses; you can use it for circulating parcels and mails, Topping Up Cards, Online Exams, Ecommerce hubs, And lots more... "Remember you first heard it here and from D.C" cool Any Ideas....

Yes I think this has the potential to be big.... Although you need good internet speed + 3dcard and at least 512 ram, to get it going smoothly on your machine. Talking about that what can we post on it in Nijarr.. Any Ideas ..... grin
