Fashion / Re: Girls' New Dress Code: Wear Your Trousers To Show Your Underpants! by dearzi(f): 2:10am On Apr 14, 2006
I think girls are dressing this way cuz that's what this culture's promoting, the music videos, the new icons (awon Paris Hilton and co) all promoting sex, and unfortunately, we black women, we don't respect ourselves knowing that God has really endowed us with flesh in certain places, and we expose it all. I don't believe in those dress codes, what my man should be seeing privately the whole public will be viewing for free! no sir! and we ladies need to be more aware that such things are really distasteful. I'd much rather earn a guy's respect because of my brain and sense of humor, than catch him stearing at my assets, angry

Preach it brother! who'd have thunk it! that you had a pierced ear!!! but it's all good--i can relate, from minute skirts in my girlish moments, and indifferent emsemble in my ya ya ya moments, to a full time Ambassador of the gospel outfit, it's only the Word that can do that! even in my casual moments now, i know that i have to represent Christ, when i was in FUTA i read a poster on a door "How you dress is how you'll be addressed," that got me thinking and i knew it was time to cover up some skin and dress respectfully, it's only the Spirit of God that can convict a man.

So what med school are you in? i'm a Biology senior, and i can't lie, the last lap is almost frustrating, the thought of med school proper is almost a dream, but i know slowly but surely, as for the cure to HIV and cancer, i don't know, i doubt it, cuz we're talking virsuses here, and in the cancer, depending on which one it is! some already have cures, others, well, a person has to wait and pray,

Dude, i know you're trying to force us to be tolerant, i agree, but i'm not feeling this merging thing, i prefered it the way it was before, it was really easy to identify what Christians are talking about, but now, i don't know! there's just something about it, bottom line--i'm not feeling it, can we revert to the old way mind you, i've seen that both boards have been merged, and it's so much harder now! me i'll have to agree with Charlisco and the others.

Religion / Re: Christian Wives And Submission To Their Husbands by dearzi(f): 10:30pm On Apr 12, 2006
One of the major problems we have in the home is that both parties--men and women, don't OBEY instructions, Christ said men should love their wives as He loves the church (Eph 5:25), and women don't submit to their husbands (Eph 5:22-24). I think in this generation we're so happy to veer off from the truth and begin to believe this new age nonsense of women libration! we've never been slaves, so what are we being librated from i know women in ministry, who are mums, wives and career women, and are submissive to their husbands--believe me their homes are pure bliss, but the homes where the women are shouting liberation--na so so wahala! men become insecure, hence they begin to look outside, women become too focused on their own identity, breeding young women just like them. We have men who become married to their careers in the name of making a living, if both parties would stick to biblical principles the divorce rates won't be this high. It's really important who one marries, that's why i don't encourage people to run off and marry anybody, you have to have one mind (Amos 3:3), with one mind submission and love won't be an issue. I'm a young woman, soon to be married, and i already have a mindset where submission won't be a problem because that's what God wants from me, we as Christians submit to God out of love not out of fear, so we need to apply that principle to our men also. I think why our generation finds submission hard is because they're buying into much of the new age realities, not like it's not good, but let God's word be true and everything else a lie. We, as women, need to know what God has placed in us and use it, not just using our phyiscal attributes as some are in the practise of. But when you know who you are as a woman--the only position that's similar to the Holy Spirit (called along side a man) you'll know that the man's habits won't be an issue, especially when you know how to get on your knees, men are not always right, that's where we come in--to take the issue to God in prayer, mind you, your husband has to be likeminded, if not more work for you!

Dude, congrats o! i just have a question for you, at any point in time did you feel your woman was cheating on you? or did she have any insecurities that you're cheating on her? if your response is negative, please how much practical do you want Hot_Co co to be? it really could be that the brother's insecure and all, but how far--to settle for other chics? if na your sister you go gree? i think if that's really the case, it's something they can talk about and be able to support each other. I'm in college and engaged to the most wonderful guy out there, i had my insecurities--trying to complete my undergrad and stuff, and he being a master's holder and stuff, i told him about them, and we worked it out, so, if there's an issue of insecurity, i think they should talk about it, at the end of the day the sister'll do what's best for her.

@alj
Hmmm, which principle are we talking about here? i doubt i can answer that, cuz the guy i'm with would want to make me happy, and i'm sure he sees as i do--wanting things done the right way. Plus, we both come from educated families, i don't see who wants to start haggling over my bones--i think i can leave proper instructions for where i want to be buried and my family would have to conform. He has sisters and their bride prices were paid, so why would he want to do otherwise! i don't think bride price is something that should be compromised, cuz i know of women who are married and their husbands didn't pay their bride price and everyday they keep crying "maybe if you'd paid my bride price you'd treat me better" for me i don't want to have that as an excuse,
Culture / Re: Speaking Out Against The Bride Price Practice by dearzi(f): 1:45am On Apr 08, 2006
I've patiently waited to get married--dreaming up every girl's ideal wedding, and now when the time is at hand you're telling me not to do the whole thing! abeg o!!! our cultures are so deep and rich, my man has to pay bride price o! thank God my family's not desperate for money, so nobody's going to be exploiting anyone. After i've done my traditional wedding, whoever wants to throw out the tradition of bride price should go ahead, as for me, i'm holding on to it, and when i have a daughter or daughters, someone's going to pay bride price too! i don't feel less a woman because of bride price, i would think a woman would feel that she got into her husband's house through all the proper channels and every requirement fulfiled, i would!

Oooh Child, what a predicament, (Ehm! i don't mean you're a child o! abeg o!) I think you need to sort this whole love for your ex out, cuz it will end up interfering with your future relationships--trust me, been there, thank God my new bobo stayed and now i'll be meeting him at the altar in my white dress. This isn't about me, but you need to do something about how you feel--girl you need to face your demons! you don't have to go see him to know how he feels about you, let's face it we're women and we can feel these things, that's why God created us this way, we know when we're wanted or not, especially if you've got a lot to offer, abeg get the stepping--there will always be another man, better sef if you're patient. If he's not even bothered to stay intouch sef, well, i'll strongly advice you to brace yourself cuz it's going to be a while to purge yourself of him (please don't run into another r/ship you'll only hurt yourself and the new man), brace yourself, close your eyes and MOVE ON cuz the brother don't deserve you afterall. All this is if the PHONE CALLS go wrong o!!!! but if doesn't, and he's sending some vibes, y'all can hang out, (please mask your emotions before he takes advantage of them), once y'all are hanging out, you can open the room for dialouge, i'm sure during this process you'll know if you still want to hang there or just move on altogether. lol, lol, it's obvious you're not a member of Christ Embassy--no big, but i assure you once you hear the words coming out of the mouth of the man of God, walahi, nobody will tell you before you start saying "like Pastor said" or "Pastor Chris said" or better yet "Pastor has taught us." The man speaks scripturally, so when you quote him verbatim you can be sure you're speaking scripturally as well, plus, Christ is our foundation, and we also believe the prophet God's given us, and we the members are prospering (2 Chron 20:20). Personally, I'd much rather quote a man of God than quote one of these dead philosophers like Freud and Socrates, smiley

@ Sir Kay & Kimba

In the process of changing my cds i've lost what i'd typed several times! but it's all good. Yeah! what i was saying before that occured is this, all the laws and 10 commandments you're holding so strongly to have been fulfiled in Christ, Bible says "Christ is the end of the law" (Rom 10:4). Your next argument might be what happens to the 10 commandments we were given, the Bible answers that already, they were a fore-shadow of better things to come, Heb 10:1 "The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves." Christ fufiled all of that, and as many believe in Him and allow the Holy Spirit work in them, they can be all that you want to see, but then again, it really doesn't matter what you want to see, cuz God's looking at the heart anyway! not their dressing (not like it don't matter) 1 Sam 16:7. Think about it, Christ did it all, what can be better than that there are no 10 commandments anymore, we have 2 now: Jn 13:34-35, 1 Jn 3: 23-24. The commandment of love, Christ said if we love we will not do what the 10 commandments wanted us to--the bible said they couldn't accomplish in themselves that's why Christ had to come, so, i guess your youths are just finding themselves where they're accepted, and being taught rightly. People want to see overnight transformation, but they forget it's the Holy Spirit that does the work, the pastor just sows the seed of the word!
Religion / Re: Why Do Youths Run Away From Deeper Life Bible Church? by dearzi(f): 9:44pm On Apr 06, 2006
@multioption

Multioption, i don't think it's fair to pick on Christ Embassy simply because of the way some of its members dress. Jesus befriended the tax collectors, and what happened--he was accused of making friends with them, He didn't turn back simply because of who they were or what they did--He saw it as an opportunity to reach out to them, at the end of the day Judas was the thief! my point is this, i've been a member of Pastor Chris' church for 6yrs now, and when i got there, i was nought but a recalictrant teenager, trust me, i dressed just the way you described, but now, when i step out you'll think i'm a minister. They didn't look at me as in "see what this girl is wearing o!" they accepted me, and with time the word changed my mindset, and i had good mentors--mind you they were not half naked men or women. I don't live in Nigeria anymore, but that dress code is still with me. I'm still a Christ Embassy member, and my dress code's really formal, as are the dress codes of a lot of brethrens in that ministry, it means when you went there your focus was on the wrong thing. I was in Nigeria over Christmas and i went to my church, and people still dress decently, so don't judge a whole church based on how a few dress. It's not our place
**** someone said it's better to sin outside the church than inside, i'm so sorry, that's wrong, sin is sin, where you do it doesn't matter--it is still sin. This is why youths are running away from deeper life, you can't force them to adhere to rules, what this generation needs is teaching on how to be Christ minded, and how to handle of the word of life, Col 2:20-23 "Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: 21"Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"? These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence"
Religion / Re: Who Should We Direct Our Praises To? God Or Jesus? by dearzi(f): 4:46am On Apr 05, 2006
@mlks_baby
The point i'm trying to get across is this--whatever you do in the presence of the Son, is done before the Father, i might not have used the right scripture, but that was where i was going. You don't have to appear so confrontational sad--this is a forum for dialogue. When we struggle so hard to make a distinction of the God head, how will a muslim interprete it?? that we have 3 gods cuz in all honesty, maybe that's what some believe, but i have one (1) God, who is expressed in 3 persons, don't make each expression less than the other, also doesn't make each expression 3 different beings such that they cause confusion. As for me, there's only the Godhead--a tripartite being.
***this isn't a case of insecurity or inferiority, it's making the gospel as simple and applicable to everyone, such that a lay person can relate with it and apply it, and not give other religions basis to tear at Christianity--we do a good job of that all by ourselves.
Religion / Re: Good Friday Miracle Night With Pastor Chris by dearzi(f): 4:15am On Apr 05, 2006
I envy you guys that can make it for the program, i wish i could be there. A program like this should not be missed. I've been a member of Christ Embassy for several years, and God knows i've been blessed by the teachings and the anointing of the Spirit. Like i always do, i'll have to order for the DVDs when they come out. So for all those that can make it, honestly, one word from God will change your life forever-- don't miss out on it. I just encourage as many as can make it to go for the program, regardless of controversy, regardless of what you feel, it's a faith matter. Y'all just give me the gist of what happens, even though i'm sure i'll get to hear from my peeps that will be there. One more thing, don't just stand on the outside looking in on the ministry, go for one of the services, i was there over the Christmas break, and the words i heard are what's sustaining me even now. So y'all should stop by once, and your lives will never be the same again.
Donnie, i see you bearing our flag real high, keep it up, in this ministry we're no sissys.

Common girl, it can't be that bad! yeah, a lot of men have doggish traits, but you know we women are not completely innocent, if we don't cheat, we check men out too--i know i do! wink, but not with the intent to have them, but i appreciate a good looking man when i see one, but in all truth and honesty, i've been blessed with a wonderful man, and i cannot ask for better. So, don't give up on men, they're useful, in their own way, even if it's to take out the trash. When you least expect it, the guy just might come along, and for all you know, you might know him, i knew mine for years before anything happened, not once did i consider the possibility of us getting together, and now we're walking to the altar. So don't give up on men, there are still some good ones out there. Just pray about it.

Was this real?? if it's pure fiction, girl you're darn good!!! you'd better look into writing full time, maybe get a job on the side to pay the bills, we all know writers are hungry, but if it's true, what can i say--good of you to share your deep dark secrets. Secrets are hard to tell. Hopefully someone learns--no rich man's going to marry some chic without potential, he'd much rather keep you by the side. As this is a Naija forum, i'm sure there are people carrying aristos, if they're not, they're considering it, so hopefully, y'all get to learn a thing or two--go get your own man! if you've been carrying aristos before, please stop--HE'S SOMEONE'S HUSBAND, AND MAYBE FATHER!!! just got back from Naija, and saw enough cream looking single brothers, land those ones. Went back and read what everyone wrote, word for word, this time around. Like i said, too much letter, too much sense knowledge, and that's what's dividing us Christians, we can't have a united front, one question that generated enough heat! it is well o! For the sake of the gospel, let every man study to show themselves, RIGHTLY dividing the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15)
Religion / Re: Who Should We Direct Our Praises To? God Or Jesus? by dearzi(f): 2:47am On Mar 31, 2006
I don't believe i'm reading all this. Personally, i didn't have the patience to read word for word what everyone's writing, in my own opinion, it's too much letter, and "the letter killeth" (2 Cor 3:6). It's a simple question, Jesus said, "for I and my Father are one" (John 10:30, John 17:21). This is not a case of synonyms or any more "yms" it's a case of glorification, if you praise the Father--God, Jesus is praised, if you praise Jesus, God is also praised (Matt 10:32). The case of the Christ and God is the case of the Sun and its light, can you seperate the sunlight from the Sun? both are the same, you can't have the light without the Sun as you can't have the Father without the Son. So, when it comes to praising God or Christ, praise as your spirit gives you utterance (Rom 8:26, Acts 2:4), so long as you're not praising anything aside the Father and the son--that's another thing!
