Politics / Peter Obi Gave N5M At One Event, While I Gave N4M - Datti by Debstegab100(m): 8:11am On Dec 05, 2022
During an interview with Channels Television, the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, stated that the Labour Party has enough structure to win the election even if the opposition party believes that it is small.

He added that there was a time when he and Peter Obi visited a book launch event and Peter Obi donated 5 million naira, he donated 4 million naira, an arrogant man who came late donated 100 million, and someone represented by another donated 50 million. He revealed that after the donation, they were more appreciated than the other people who donated huge amounts of money.

According to him, "We have always been resourceful." Believe me, we have never lacked anything to do what we're supposed to do. Anything that the APC can do, we can do, but ours is within our means, and we can prove how we got everything that we're spending. The only thing is that we will not spend hundreds of millions compromising."

"We went to a book launch; Peter Obi donated N5 million genuinely, and he has another five million to donate." I sweated and donated 4 million naira. Somebody walked in late and arrogantly donated 100 million naira, and he walked out of the event. Somebody is represented, and he donated $50 million. You can see that it is 20 times more and 10 times more. At the end of the day, we achieved greater applause and appreciation from that family."

Sports / Onuachu Equals Personal Single-season Scoring Record After Hat-trick by Debstegab100(m): 11:10am On Jan 07, 2021
Paul Onuachu has equaled his personal single-season scoring record for league matches only after netting his first hat-trick in Racing Genk's colours in their 4-1 rout of KAS Eupen on Wednesday night.

His personal best of eighteen goals in the league was first set during the 2016-2017 season while at FC Midtjylland.

That same season, the FC Ebedei product had his most productive season as a professional in terms of goals scored with 23 in all competitions, and it's a record that might be broken by the number 18 this term.

Genk took the lead through Junya Ito in the ninth minute but Eupen were back on level terms five minutes later thanks to Stef Peeters.

Then the Onuachu show started with the Nigeria international firing a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Théo Defourny to make it 2-1 at minute 42.

Two minutes into the second half, he converted from the spot to increase the lead before scoring another penalty kick on the hour mark to wrap up the scoring.

Onuachu is aiming to become the third Nigerian player to be crowned top scorer in the Belgian top-flight after Tosin Dosunmu and Joseph Akpala won the accolade in the 2005-2006 and 2007-2008 season respectively.

Religion / Do You Practice What You Preach (religious Leaders) by Debstegab100(m): 6:48am On Jan 03, 2021
ARE YOU PRACTICING WHAT YOU ARE PREACHING (RELIGIOUS LEADERS)

(1 Cor 9:14) - "On the same principle, the Lord has directed, commanded that those who preach, publish the good news (the Gospel) should live (get their maintenance) by and from the Gospel."

To our religious leaders, I'm not writing this article to expose anyone but it was what my three friends (Trinity) has inspired me to write. Accept my apology.

I will start by using the story of a pastor to illustrate this aspect. This pastor is a man par excellence in solving family issues/matters. He has the quality/ability of repairing broken homes. But, the pastor's home (Family) is shattered, it is in pieces.

There is no cordial relationship between him and his wife, even the children. Today; fight, tomorrow; insults/abuse. Yet, outside his home, he knows how to settle family issues. Why? Because he's not practicing what he is preaching.

There are lot of religious leaders out there that are not practicing what they are preaching. They implore their church congregration that adultery, prostitution, fornication is not good, yet behind the scene they are found guilty.

Some will even say, cultism is not a good option for a child of God, yet, they practice it. They visit shrine to appeal to smaller gods to make their ministry boom, meanwhile; they are encouraging their church members not to move away from God.

Whenever I listen to radio programmes, I hear a lot of religious leaders asking for money before you can see them. All you will hear them say is to "bring your white envelope when coming to see me." They are not practicing what they preach.

Some will even give out false prophecy just extort money from you. Hmmmm, what is the world turning into? Religious leaders who are supposed to be a source of inspiration to the world, to be a role model to world has now turned into something else. They've left the principle of the Gospel for the principle of making money.

But there is always a way, Go back to God, Repent, Change your ways and start practicing what you preach.

"People of integrity and honesty not only practice what they preach, they are what they preach."

All glory belongs to my three friends (Trinity) for giving me such an inspiration. I hope you've been blessed and touched. God will continue to help us.

If you have any contribution to this little article from me, please kindly do because no one is perfect.

Religion / Oyo State Lifts Curfew, Okays Cross-over Services by Debstegab100(m): 6:00pm On Dec 30, 2020
The Oyo State Government has permitted religious organisations to conduct their cross-over services on December 31, 2020, as it lifted the 12 am to 4 am curfew earlier imposed on states by the Federal Government.

This was disclosed by Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde via a statement shared on the State’s Twitter handle on Wednesday.

He stated, “Following a review of the pronouncement of the Technical Team of the Task Force on COVID-19 in Oyo State on 29th December 2020, His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, has magnanimously directed that the 12 midnight to 4 a.m. curfew be lifted.

“The governor has also warned citizens and residents of Oyo State to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines, protocols and advisories as laid down by the OYO State COVID-19 Task Force aimed at limiting the transmission of the disease in our communities.

“Secondly, he has directed that enforcement of these guidelines and protocols in accordance with the law will be applied as appropriate, enjoining individuals and organizations to comply and by so doing ensure that we all spread the joy of this season and not the virus.”

On Tuesday, the State Government had called on the State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to adhere strictly to the existing 12 AM to 4:00 AM curfew imposed by the Federal Government by concluding cross-over services in churches earlier, rather than the traditional midnight services held on every 31st of December.

The government further announced a ban on the organisation of street carnivals in its effort at curtailing the spread of COVID-19 which has claimed not less than 50 lives in the State.

The Coordinator of the Oyo State Task Force on COVID-19, Prof. Temitope Alonge, gave the hint during a press briefing, on Tuesday, to update the public on the latest developments regarding the global pandemic in the State.

Talking about religion is usually a very sensitive topic, as many people guard their respective religions jealously. It Is not often you see people born into a particular religion convert to another religion.

Nonetheless, it happens as some people change their religion for various reasons.

In some cases, the new converts face persecution and sometimes ostracism by their families or society especially when one converts in a society where they predominantly practice a particular religion.

In this article, I will be talking about Nigerian celebrities who converted from one religion to another.
Sports / The Key Man Behind Chelsea's Set-piece Solidity - And It's Not Thiago Silva by Debstegab100(m): 8:47am On Nov 06, 2020
Chelsea have completely turned around their defensive record with another clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Rennes.

The Champions League victory on Wednesday night means the Blues have not conceded in five straight matches, the first time they have done that in ten years.

Edouard Mendy has had a sensational start to life in west London, while Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma have formed an excellent partnership at centre-back.

With Ben Chilwell and Reece James looking solid in the full-back positions, Frank Lampard's defensive side are really starting to come together.

One of Chelsea's big weaknesses last season was their defending from set-pieces, with it looking like they would concede every time the ball was put into the box.

But during this campaign, apart from the draw with West Brom, it has looked a very different situation.

A key reason for that has been the work of new coach Anthony Barry, who came into the club in the summer from Wigan Athletic.

The new coach had to move position to see past Frank Lampard, Rennes head coach and fourth official Tobias Stieler.

When he did, he was as loud as anyone, calling players into the right positions and making sure each one was doing their job.

In the second half, he was a clear voice in shouting towards Zouma to make sure the centre-back was in the right place from a free-kick, also getting Hakim Ziyech to mark Steven Nzonzi.

When a new substitute came on, it was Barry who spoke to them about where they would be positioned when defending set-pieces.

Lampard has a lot of faith in his coaches, Jody Morris, Joe Edwards, Chris Jones and Barry, who have formed a tight unit.

"He's an exciting young coach and someone I've known for a while. I believe he will be a strong addition to the team," Lampard said when the coach arrived in the summer.

And he looks like he has certainly had a good influence on Chelsea's set-piece woes from last season.

Sports / Germany Pegged Back Three Times By Turkey In Cologne by Debstegab100(m): 10:07pm On Oct 07, 2020
With all Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig players in the squad rested ahead of two UEFA Nations League games to come during this international break, Joachim Löw handed a senior debut to Gladbach's Neuhaus.

Despite a number of changes to the usual line-up, Germany started strongly against Turkey. Draxler thought he had opened the scoring after six minutes on the rebound, but Germany's captain on the night was offside after Waldschmidt's initial shot was saved.

Borussia Dortmund pair Nico Schulz and Julian Brandt went close with chances of their own around the half-hour mark but with the game looking to be going into the break level, a moment of magic opened the scoring.

Former Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz sent Draxler in on goal and his lofted finish over Mert Günok put Germany ahead at half-time.

Turkey immediately responded five minutes into the second half with former Fortuna Düsseldorf defender Kaan Ayhan finding captain Ozan Tufan, who turned past Brandt and curled past Bernd Leno to level the score. Less than 10 minutes later and the Germany lead was restored however thanks to a debut goal for Neuhaus, who exchanged a one-two with Havertz before slotting the ball home.

Löw's side were pegged back for a second time just nine minutes later, though, as Neuhaus was dispossessed in a dangerous position and Efecan Karaca took advantage to slot past Leno.

Both Jonas Hofmann and Mahmoud Dahoud came on for their senior debuts in the second half to help Germany take a third lead of the game. Schalke 's Ozan Kabak – on as a substitute – cleared a cross only as far as Waldschmidt in the Turkey penalty area, and his strike was too hot for Günok to keep out.

Germany looked set for victory until Düsseldorf's Kenan Karaman was found in the box to slot home in injury time for a third Turkey equaliser to share the spoils on an entertaining night at the
RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.

Sports / Portugal 0-0 Spain: Woodwork Denies Ronaldo In Lively Friendly Clash by Debstegab100(m): 9:51pm On Oct 07, 2020
Spain and Portugal played out an entertaining 0-0 friendly draw on Wednesday in a warm-up match for the next round of Nations League games.

Luis Enrique's men controlled the first half in Lisbon but had the crossbar to thank for keeping Cristiano Ronaldo and Renato Sanches at bay in the second half.

Each side experimented with their line-ups as a handful of players won their first senior caps, including Wolves winger Adama Traore, who nearly set up Dani Olmo for a winner.

Rui Patricio made three saves in the opening 17 minutes, his best a second-minute block from Gerard Moreno after he spun into space from Olmo's pass.

Such was Spain's control in the first 40 minutes that Ronaldo had only one touch of the ball in their penalty area, as Portugal failed to muster a shot on target.

They did let their guards down just before the break, though, Raphael Guerreiro blasting a half-volley over the bar and Ronaldo sending a tricky header wide from Joao Moutinho's free-kick.

Ronaldo was inches from breaking the deadlock early in the second half, smashing a shot off the underside of Kepa Arrizabalaga's crossbar from the edge of the area.

Portugal must have wondered whether the woodwork was cursed when Ronaldo played in Sanches, who thundered a half-volley at goal only to see it bounce off the bar, onto the line and away.

Substitute Traore cut the ball back for Olmo to fire straight at Patricio, before Kepa was at last called into action, saving well at the feet of Trincao after a good run from Joao Felix.

Portugal should have snatched the win in injury time too, Felix failing to turn the ball into the net after Ruben Semedo's glancing header.

Sports / Kevin Akpoguma Names Everton Winger Iwobi Among Four Top Players In Super Eagles by Debstegab100(m): 9:36pm On Oct 07, 2020
TSG Hoffenheim's Kevin Akpoguma has admitted that he opted to switch his international allegiance from Germany to Nigeria because the three-time African champions have some top players in their ranks.

Everton winger Alex Iwobi, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze and Napoli's record acquisition Victor Osimhen were all namechecked among the standout players in the Nigeria squad.

Akpoguma, who is set to make his senior debut either against Algeria or Tunisia in the coming days, is confident that manager Gernot Rohr can build a formidable team with these set of players and stressed that he has to work hard to break into the starting lineup.

In an Instagram conversation with the Super Eagles Media Team , Akpoguma said : "I decided for Nigeria because I see a lot of potential in the team, in the country.

"We have top players like Sammy (Chukwueze), Victor (Osimhen), Wilfred Ndidi, Iwobi - they are top players, they are playing in top leagues.

"If you put all of them together you'll have a great team, for me it is a big honour to play with these guys.

"It's not like you are German-born and want to play for Nigeria, everything is going automatically, I have to prove myself on the pitch, it's not like you just come from Europe and you are directly in the side, you have to train hard to be successful as a team.

"That's what I like in the team and that's why I decided to play for my fatherland...."

The Nigerian Federation have attempted to persuade other German-born stars with Bundesliga experience such as Felix Uduokhai (Augsburg), Jordan Torunarigha (Hertha BSC) and Kingsley Ehizibue (Cologne) to pledge their international futures to the Super Eagles.

The Gunners have little time to get contract details and a medical done but are confident they can get the deal over the line

Thomas Partey is flying to London as Arsenal look to complete their £45 million (€50m/$58m) deal for the Atletico Madrid midfielder ahead of Monday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

The Gunners have been working throughout the day on the transfer after they informed La Liga - who hold Partey’s registration - that they will be paying his release clause.

With the way transfers work in Spain regarding players with release clauses in their contract, Arsenal did not have to negotiate with Atletico Madrid over the deal.

But Goal has learnt that Atletico have now been notified by La Liga that the Gunners have triggered the clause for the 27-year-old.

Partey had the first part of his medical in Madrid earlier today and will complete further medical assessments once he arrives in England later this evening and travels to Arsenal’s London Colney training base.

Arsenal’s legal team have spent the day at London Colney working on what has been a complicated deal to get done late on in the transfer window.

But the Gunners are hopeful they will beat tonight’s 11pm deadline to land a player they have chased throughout the summer and who has been on the club’s radar for the past two years.

Partey’s arrival will be a major boost to Mikel Arteta, who has been desperate to add to his midfield options.

Speaking about possible incomings after Sunday’s 2-1 win against Sheffield United, Arteta reassured fans that the club would be doing all they can to add to the squad before Monday night’s deadline.

“What I can guarantee is that we are doing our maximum for that to happen, whether we are going to achieve it or not, I don’t know,” said the Spaniard, when discussing the possibility of bringing in new signings.

“I cannot discuss the players that we want but we recognise certain positions that we believe we are short in. First of all in numbers and then adding different qualities to complement each other and this is what we are trying to do.

“I always try to be really honest and clear. Believe me that the ownership, the board, myself, are doing everything we can to maximise the resources we have to improve the team and to sustain and keep the players that are in this club to make this club successful.

“I have 100 per cent backing from them. It's not just words, it's reality. Whoever knows me, if it wasn't like that I wouldn't say it but I say it because I feel it and it's true.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also set to confirm the capture of teenagers Nikolaj Duus Moller and Omar Rekik.

Swedish striker Moller will join from Molde and Dutch defender Rekik from Hertha Berlin. Both will link up with Steve Bould’s Under-23s squad in north London.

Sports / Brazil & Liverpool Goalkeeper, Alisson Clocks 28 Years Today by Debstegab100(m): 1:33pm On Oct 02, 2020
Alisson Ramses Becker (born 2 October 1992), commonly known as Alisson , is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Liverpool and the Brazil national team. In 2019, he was named The Best FIFA Goalkeeper and was also the recipient of the inaugural Yashin Trophy. He is considered to be one of the world's best goalkeepers.

Alisson began his career at Internacional , where he made over 100 appearances and won the Campeonato Gaúcho in each of his four seasons at the club. In 2016, he completed a €7.5 million transfer to Roma where he initially served as understudy to Wojciech Szczęsny before breaking into the starting line-up.

In July 2018, Alisson signed for Liverpool for an initial fee of €62.5 million (£56m), which could rise to €72 million (£66.8 million); a world record fee for a goalkeeper at the time.

In his first season at the club he received the Premier League Golden Glove for most clean sheets in the league, and kept another clean sheet in the UEFA Champions League Final to help Liverpool win their sixth European Cup.

The following season he kept a clean sheet in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup as the team won in extra time to clinch the trophy.

He also played an integral part in Liverpool's 2019–20 Premier League title-winning effort, which ended the club's 30-year league title drought.

Alisson represented Brazil at various youth levels before making his senior international debut in 2015 whereafter he represented the nation at the Copa América Centenario in 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup , and the 2019 Copa América , winning the latter tournament, while also being named the best goalkeeper.

Sports / Chelsea' Tammy Abraham Celebrates His 23rd Birthday Today by Debstegab100(m): 1:20pm On Oct 02, 2020
Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham (born 2 October 1997), known as Tammy Abraham , is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Chelsea and the England national team.

An academy graduate of Chelsea, Abraham made his senior debut for the club in 2016 before spending a season on loan with Championship club Bristol City . There, he enjoyed a successful campaign which culminated in him winning the club's Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season and top goalscorer awards, becoming the first player ever to do so in a single season. A further loan spell at Swansea City followed for Abraham but the season ended with the club suffering relegation from the Premier League. He then joined Aston Villa in 2018 and became the first player since 1977 to score 25 goals in a single campaign for the club.

Formerly an England youth international, Abraham represented the nation from under-18 level, and featured at the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Poland. He made his senior debut in November 2017.

Prior to receiving his first competitive cap for the England senior team in October 2019, Abraham was eligible to represent Nigeria through his paternal lineage and was sounded out by the Nigerian Football Association.

Abraham's father is close friends with
Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick and on 21 September 2017, Pinnick claimed that Abraham had switched his allegiance to Nigeria. Abraham issued a statement the same day denying the claim and reaffirming his availability for England selection.

Upon receiving his first England call-up in November 2017, Abraham stated that there was never any prospect of him choosing to play for Nigeria.
