Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2016/2017 Chevening Scholarship Applicants. by deen(m): 8:33pm On Apr 02, 2017
Hello, I cant remember all the questions I was asked but these are the ones I can remember
1. How do you network and give us example of how you benefited from your network?
2. What do you understand by leadership and give us example of a situation where you demonstrated leadership and tell us what role you play?
3. How would the UK government benefit by awarding you this scholarship?
4. Why do you want to go to UK for your studies?
5. What other activity/activities apart from your academics would you be doing in the UK during your stay?
6. After your return from your studies, how would you benefit the Nigeria Chevening Alumni?

Foreign Affairs / Re: Yahoo Boys And Western Hypocrisy by deen(m): 7:26pm On Jul 09, 2009
@ElRazur

I thought the poster is making a point and is u that is narrowing ur thinking. The argument is not only about internet scam but western hypocrisy of quickly and gladly point accusation finger's to others knowing fully well that they are the real perpetrators.

Come to think of it, most human atrocities is being committed by who?
- Slavery : westerners
- Gas Chamber : westerners
- war crime : Bush, Clinton, Baby Bush ,   lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
- Financial Swindler of all time : Mardof
- Discrimination : for over 100 years blacks and women dont vote in America

The list can go on and on and on. And still the west believe they are the decent form of governance ever. believe that and u are set for life.

Politics / Re: A Nigeria Without U by deen(m): 7:10pm On Jun 12, 2009
@poster
What i mean is encourage people by what u did or what u are doing would not amount to a 'platform for self campaign'.

Tell people what you are doing and tell them what they can do to make Nigeria better and then people will believe in you wholeheartedly.

No heart feelings, i thought you motivate people by telling them what you did and how you are just an ordinary human being like them and why they can also do it.

@poster

ok we all feel Nigeria really needs people like us at some point but actually how braved have you been doing in a course of 'justice for all' to really qualify for that title? I really appreciate ur passion for Nigeria, but actually what you wrote has no substance. You really have to qualify what you said with some examples, what i mean is this: you really have to substantiate your words with some act of patriotism as an example to encourage fellow Nigerians to do thesame. And keep doing it.

Politics / Democracy Day: How Much Did Your State Government Spent? by deen(m): 6:43pm On May 29, 2009
I wander what is so important about this Democracy Day that our various government are spending a lot of money to celebrate. Borno State Government spent a whopping N360m to renovate Ramat Square (venue of the celebration). All in all Borno State will spend around N3b for the celebration.

Please i dont want to start approximating the sum of money spent by state government by simply multiplying N3b by 36 and get the total sum cos i believe we still have some reasonable Governors that will not spend this much on Democracy Day to celebrate nothing.

Please if you know how much your state spent on Democracy Day help tell us. So that we would know how shamelessly our Governors are spending our money.
Politics / Niger Delta: How The Government Start It All Wrong And Still Doing It Wrong. by deen(m): 5:19pm On May 27, 2009
I used to console myself about the state of this country by telling this to myself: Ok! God has been given us some no brainiac as leaders in this country and maybe some day he will give us a brainiac and things will be done differently. Am not saying I am smarter than most of our leaders, am just the type that believe in tremendous inspiration from a good leader. A good leader should be able to inspire his followers to achieve great things and we have seen none in this country.

Ok enough side talks, back to the topic of discussion. The current conflict in the Niger Delta arose in the early 1990’s due to tensions between the Foreign Oil Corporations and a number of Niger Delta’s minority ethnic groups who felt they were being exploited, particularly the Ogoni’s and the Ijaw’s. Wait before I turn into a journalist and start telling you who killed Ken Saro-wiwa or the Ijaws are the largest ethnic group in the Delta region, what does NDPVF stands for, who is Akete Tom, lets go back and looked at the way and manner the Federal Government and the Foreign Oil Corporations go about setting-up oil field in the Niger Delta.

When economically viable petroleum was discovered in Niger Delta in 1950’s. The Government began forcing ethnic communities to abandon their land to oil companies without consultations, and offering negligible compensations-You might say this is the white (oyibo) government but hold-on, this is the best part-. This is further supported by a 1979 constitutional addition which afforded the federal government full ownership and rights to all Nigerian territory and also decided that all compensation of land would “be based on the value of the crops on the land at the time of its acquisition, not on the value of the land itself.” The Nigerian Government could now distribute the land to oil companies as it deemed fit. Ok stop, read the italic line twice. Did it say “value of the crop on the land at the time of its acquisition”? Are we talking about their farmland? Are we saying that their livelihood is being confiscated by the federal government and being replaced by a system that will pollute their environment, pollute their local economy and the society as well and repress the people of that very community? And who tell the Federal Government that a land has no value?

With these I believe you can see the mental setup of most of our leaders and why I call them no brainiac. But before I castigate them, let me also point out to a common pattern in the Niger Delta conflict. First funds and more funds will be allocated to the communities- Customary and Statutory payment made to the host communities by oil companies, Niger Delta Development Corporations, 13% derivation, Ministry of Niger Delta, e.t.c- to the benefit of a few. And then force will be used to repressed protestors- Mobile Police, the Nigerian Military, Joint Task Force or what ever they call them-. Why are all our Governments following thesame pattern in solving the Niger Delta Crisis? Is it because they all think alike or is it just that they are all being advise by one person?

Unless a brave Government toke a bold decision -halting exploration activities if necessary- and address the conflict between the host communities and the oil companies by redressing the land property Act, genuinely listening to the host community with open mind and a sincerity of purpose this conflict will be here to stay (not my wish). Let us go back to the drawing board and do it differently. I believe there is a way that would benefit both parties, the host community on one side and the Oil Companies/Nigerian Government on the other side.

@toshmann lol.

@Teriba i think the credit of what is happen in the judiciary should be given to the Justice Alpha Belgore.

@Mckren i agree with u.

I believe by now President Umaru Musa Yar'aduwa should understand having a good intention and a sincere heart is not enough to rule a very complex and diverse country like Nigeria. Not to mention ruin country like Nigeria. He should be in country of the affairs. He cant just sit wait and speculation are going on that people like OBJ are controlling the country. This speculation will tell of his acceptance. He should ACT or leave if he cant do it.

Politics / Re: Worst Performing Nigerian Governor? by deen(m): 7:24pm On Jun 14, 2006
I think Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Yobe State Governor should be crowned. No single project to show, no development project for the poeple. And to top it all the state is a corruption grown for corrupt government personels. You will want to believe that corruption is legalize in Yobe State.

the way must governor from the south-south are behaving is wanderful. We all kn most of them support the third term agenda, they not only support but donate money to make it a success. i wander how on earth now is there time to fill the position or is it total hypocricy.

What about courageous governors like kalu who have been figthing boldly for the position. Where are they all when obj still wants to come back. Do they bother to tell nigerians that it is there time to rule

@afeni
real or idealistic

Hey guys are you being idealistic or sentimental
Politics / Where Should Nigeria's Next President Come From? by deen(m): 7:37pm On Jun 06, 2006
With the latest political development in Nigeria and the position people in this forum (i.e. youth) are going to fill "leadership", I believe sensitive issues like zoning the presidency should be discuss on a neutral platform like this.

Personally I feel zoning the apex position will not solve our problem of bad leadership in this country. We should all look for a young, transparent, dynamic and with the interest of masses at heart. He doesn't have to come from the south, north, south-west, north-east, north-central, south-east, north-west or south-south. He just have to be a Nigerian.

Sports / Re: Germany 2006: Who Will Win The World Cup? by deen(m): 8:55pm On May 30, 2006
When everybody feels is Brazil that will left the trophy. It always turn out to be a big disappointment for them. They won the 1970 world cup with the best team because they were the fevorite for the third consetive time. Well Brazil are the team to watch but the team to win the cup.

Argentina, Germany and Italy are among the teams likely to win the world cup. though Mexico wil give a good run for the morney.

I believe this time is the time of Argentina to win the world cup.
Business / Re: Capitalism: Love It Or Hate It? Is It Here To Stay? by deen(m): 5:36pm On May 27, 2006
@leilata
Among the doctrines, Capitalism is dynamic. It can sooth any economic situation.Look at China today is Socialism and Capitalism, you do mention France they practice dual doctrine too. To me that is the biggest advantage of Capitalism. Its flexibility.

I agree with Seun. All we need do is change our govt policies and our leaders to be more sincere and transperent in the implimentation of these laws. We leave Capitalism to evolve it self.

And to your last question yes Capitalism is here to stay. People like you will always pin point some loop hools and try to incoorperate another doctrine with Capitalism. That is also the adv of capitalism. People like you will shape Capitalism for the next generation.

Please always compere the adv with the disadv before discouraging yourself.Capitalism encourages poeple to be innovative and hard working. It brings out the best in you.

Education / Re: Does Failure In School Mean Failure In Life? by deen(m): 8:05pm On May 12, 2006
Ford said "Failure is the opportunity to start all over again more intelligently".

The wright brothers failed not the first time not the 2nd time but several times.did these made them fialures or inventors?

Abraham lincoln failed when trying to contest but still he never give up.I always believe that some people were born lucky they always get it the first time but some have to try a little harder. But that didnt show u are weak or any less intelligent than people that got it the first time, no not at all.You just need to try harder and i believe it made you stronger and more determined.
