We are looking for a medical assistant who will be responsible for assisting the doctor with a physical examination of the patient as and when needed and other office procedures as necessary. A basic understanding of patient care and medical terminology is a must-have.

Job Responsibilities:[b][/b]

Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned
Proficient in organizing patient flow, preparing exam rooms, accompanying patients to exam rooms, collecting patient history, charting, collecting specimens, relaying instructions to patients, and assisting patients as necessary.
Able to check blood pressure, spirometry, and EKG as and when required.
Performs blood draws as needed.
Collects specimens from patients and performs basic lab testing whenever required.
Assists doctors with a physical exam and office procedures as necessary.
Assists office coordinator with answering phones, scheduling appointments, and other administrative duties as needed.
Manages and updates patient medical records, manages referrals, and prior authorizations.
Maintains the inventory of clinical equipment and supplies, including ordering and restocking when necessary.
Obtains, records, and reports vital signs and other pertinent patient information for the RN, LVN, or clinician
Performs medication administration within the scope of practice; documents medication administration and procedures in Touch works
Maintains monthly logs for medications and samples, including expired medications; Maintains and follows up on monthly logs such as Preventative Maintenance (PM) dates, EKG tickler file, and Abnormal Pap log
Provide patient care under the direction of nursing staff
Record patient information such as vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history
Assist nurse in maintaining medical inventory
Administer prescribed medications to patients
Sterilize and prepare medical tools and equipment
Maintain a clean and healthy environment

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of the medical assistant program or equivalent training/experience.
Phlebotomist certification is preferred.
Certification as a medical assistant preferred.
Must possess strong customer service skills and must be able to multi-task.
Experience with electronic medical records is preferred
Prefer at least 1 year of experience in an outpatient medical office
5+ years of experience as a Back Office Medical Assistant
Ability to build rapport with patients
Compassionate and caring demeanor
Familiarity with medical terminology
CPR card issued by the American Heart Association

Skills set as a Medical Assistant:

Experience with rooming patients and charting history.
Perform blood draws, vitals, injections, standard testing, and specimen collections.
Assist with minor procedures, follow-ups, and post-ops
Check-in patients, scheduling appointments, confirm appointments, and contact patients for returned visits as needed.
Verify insurance, authorizations, referrals, co-pays, messages, and assist the Office Manager.
