oolumide: @hopful thanks for you insight. Well I may be wrong but my thinking is that many nigerians want to go to major cities in places like US. What if I decide to go to a place like wyoming (I hope I got the spelling right) with less population and also decide to stay in country side will cost of leaving still be so high and challenging? I dont know. I av always wanted a country side life with so much privacy with my family and with so much interest agriculture. Well the idea is also to learn a lot about animal farming and with the plan to probably come back to nigeria later year for non economic reasons. However the things that are important for me is access to good health care and good education for my ward. Do u know that I pay about 320k for my 2 children sch fees per term and it is still the basic education.

The truth is this and very honest as someone that visits both EU and America, there are problems everywhere, the difference is that the problems vary, security is a problem in both world (Nigeria and west) only the dimension differs. What most people dont understand is that when you get there is when you get to see the true picture....Jobless people are in America too with College degrees. Was in NY a few days ago and it was in the news that someone went into a family home and hacked all to death, was in South Side of Chicago sometimes in August 2011 when a pregnant young lady was shot to death even after pleading, these are social problems that are in the US and Europe too as we have kidnap, corruption in Nigeria, but in my own very. In Jackson station where you change from blue line to red line in NY metro, there are always jobless Americans playing music in train station begging for money. In Times Square, an American has begged for $1 from me, these happens everywhere. My brother left 11 years ago saying all he needed was 2 years of work then he will come back to set up a Printing press, that was 2002....ask me, maybe he will set up the press in 2014. he just got caught in realising the american dream, he had to spend fortune to become citizen, now he is approaching 50..what can he do? only to "play along".

Well, it is still the best thing to do: you need to come clean even if they didn't find out because your real marriage certificate will be a dead giveaway to your your past fraud.
There will be no valid punishment for confessing that fraud after 10 years, but you risk getting a fresh 10 years ban if you try to hide it

Vicjustice: You can apply at any time provided the 10 years has expired.
By default, you will have to state your travel history as well as your visa application record, so there should be something to say about the reason previous visa was refused, you don't want to look for more troubles by withholding such information

Ok, thanks brother,I really appreciate your responses and learning, honestly cant remember if they suspected it was fake, the only reason for my fear is that am now supposed to present my real wedding certificate which is totally different from the fake I used in the past, just wondering how I explain out the two even though was not asked.

The ban system was not in effect by then, but however, (as long as the offence is earlier than 10 years), it will still take effect from the day that you apply for a visa.
It is a good thing that you have come to seek advice here, by that, you have saved yourself a huge trouble (had you applied for a visa before the 10 years elapse.
My advice, just wait for ten 10 years to elapse and then you can do the application.
Be honest enough to admit your past errors and blame it on naivity, you should be fine.

Thanks my brother, my 2003 Application was submitted in August, that means by this August it will be 10 years, how soon can I apply, moreover do I need to make reference to that fake marriage certificate, or I should just keep silence on it if I have to apply....thanks ahead of your response

My concern now is this, I have since not applied for UK visa because I knew the wedding certificate presented then was FAKE (I quoted the date of my traditional introduction which was in May), though I got legally married same year in November.
In the last five years, I have been to few countries (China,US, South Africa, Germany,Spain,France, Netherland all these severally except US which was once), economically too I have had tremendous leap, run my own business on 300K a month.
I have factory producing water (table),have a property worth 15million, another under construction, have another business doing a turn over of average of 30million per anumn.
Am married with kids and we have done family trips to SA & Paris and other cities of Schenghen.
My question is this: Will they not visit my sin of fake document of 2003 on me, as honestly speaking the only country of repute in Europe I have not visited is UK and I want to go....candid advise needed.
