Update:

My visa appeal was successful and approved!!!
All thanks to God!

Thanks to everyone here who helped and contributed.

To save someone from going through the stress I went through, Please when submitting your appeal documents, you can include your passport along with it. Then send it with a return or prepaid courier. It will get back to you, you can ignore what the website says.

DHL wanted to frustrated me, but it was a nairalander here that helped me collect my passport from the embassy after it was stamped.

I hope everyone has a successful study year and beyond in Ireland.
Pascal122! Happy for you bruh! The entire process nearly gave you a heart attack, buh glad you can laugh over it now.
Congrats bruh!
What city are you going to btw?

My masters, please, I have a quick question.

I am helping out a relative who is planning to travel out on vacation with his dad to fill out a visa application. This young man is a private school teacher with less than 100k in his account, but his dad's bank account is ok. His dad doesn't need a visa because he has a valid travel permit.

As per finance, is it appropriate to include only the sponsor's (his dad's) account statement?
What you're asking is answered on the visa requirement page. Applicant and Sponsor statements are required.

@oludee7 and other members of the house.

Not valid for travel is written on the application summary sheet I printed after I submitted the application online.

Is this normal?

The single-entry visitor visa fee and that of the courier already cost about 63k, which is to be paid online.

Also, I learned that one will still pay the VFS service charge on the day of document submission. Does anyone know how much to pay as a service charge at the VFS center?

The Not valid for travel is normal, that's how it is.

These fees are pegged to the euro and as such not sure anyone could give you an exact figure.
I did same (asking for exact figures), but eventually needed an excess of N30k+ (About a N100k+ is what you should be spending in total)
Just go with as much money as possible.
P. S: You'd be paying by card.

Okay so I've gotten the letter. The reasons were just as I feared.

Let me state that piggyvest is not acceptable for proof of living expenses. The Irish embassy doesn't accept microfinance bank statements and piggyvest operates as one. Especially if you're self sponsored. Don't use piggyvest please.

However, they also added more reasons for me. More evidence to explain gap, observe conditions, insufficient employment history, explain reason for deviating with more evidence, and authenticity of documents.

So I have a lot on my plate for the appeal.

How far Pascal??

Some progress finally.
But what's unclear is how they'd decide over your application and still hold on to it for another 2 or so more weeks.
I hope you get them soon. All the best bro!

Have you tried contacting the embassy? UPS?
What was their response?
Was it mail or call you tried.
Can imagine how restless you'd feel right now. Something is wrong somewhere. Stay calm bro

No I haven't gotten my documents ever since I saw that my visa was refused on Monday. You can't even begin to imagine the kind of mental anguish I've been since then.

I don't even know whose fault it is, the embassy or UPS. None have replied any of my emails. I am beyond frustrated.

Just to ask please, are you saying following their weekly date report trend, that yours came earlier than expected or you would have ordinarily gotten your response with the report for this week that hasn't been updated yet?

Probably that is were d issue is cuz
1. The lady that attended to me never gave me anything to sign
2. She didn’t check my doc one after d other
3. It was just black and white copies I submitted
4. I only included one acct number in the summary

I will just try an appeal as possible. Thank so much 🫡🙌
So sorry man!
This seems to be a situation where the VFS officer didn't do her job well, she knew you didn't do the right thing, yet she accepted them from you. Not only did she not do her job by going through them, she didn't put you through either into doing the right, absolutely inhumane on her part.

My advice to anyone going there, strive to do everything as perfectly as possible before going there. Thank God for NL, thank God for people here especially one Pascal guy who always responded to my queries. I was moved in my experience at that VFS honestly, at how cruel people can be, fellow Nigerians like yourself not foreigners yet so pretty much heartless.

Check the Irish website on how to appeal, if you don't find anything, mail them. Acknowledge you didn't do the right thing and remake your case following all the guidelines you now know.
Best wishes!

Gurus in the house please I need your help on how to handle my appeal. I don’t even think the visa office checked my documents bcz all what Dey mentioned was included in my application.

1. I studied industrial mathematics in my first degree and I applied for data analyst and they are saying they are odd
2. I never had any gaps in my educational history which I explained very well to d best of my ability but they mentioned it
3. Before the increase in euro my total living expenses and bal sch fees is € 18,500 and I have €21,000 yet they mentioned it
4. I have a Registered business which is d source of my income and I also add all business documents and the investment I made which I included the agreement yet they mentioned it
5. I included my Canada refusal letter yet they mentioned that I did not
6. I also included my marriage certificate, pictures of my wedding and also included my landed properties documents yet they said I won’t return.
7. I applied for MSc but they address they fees payment as if I applied for BSc.

Pls how do I go about the appeal and what is the format.
Please can someone help me out on how to address this appeal issues

It is indeed strange if you submitted all these documentation and yet it was called out in their reasons for denial.
From what I can see especially from the first paragraph, I believe, though you might have submitted these documents, chances are you didn't follow the guidelines as to how to do so.
1. Prior to submission, did you fill a financial summary form, detailing all your information and payment history etc (this form should be the last form on the requirement page on the Irish student visa website)?
On these form is where you are to indicate all the bank statement you would be submitting, that of yourself and sponsor, any bank statement info not included will not be considered even if you included it in your submission.
2. Did the VFS officer who attended to you go through and rearranged your documents appropriately? Did they give you a checklist of the documents you submitted to sign?
3, They sighted quality of the documents, were all these documents clear coloured Photocopies?
4. In your application letter, did you write it following the order or questions they indicated in their guidelines? This is where I believe you would have made your explanation as to the link and reasons for your intended course of study and your previous qualification and your work history as well.

Calling all these things out why because they made mention of the guidelines as part of their reasons for denial.

As for Appeal, I'd advise you take your chances and appeal as soon as possible cos time is of the essence.
But then be well to address with documentary evidence every other part of your application that was called out just as advised by people here.

Best wishes!

Gurus in the house please I need your advice, I applied for study visa and when I check the weekly decision report yesterday 31st July my application was refused. My question is
1. How long will it take for me to get back my documents to know the reason for my refusal
2. My class is suppose to resume 18th sept 2023, if I appeal do you think I can make it before my resumption date

Sorry to hear about this Osas.
Shouldn't take more than a week to get your documents back. As regards your appeal, just try as soon as you can.

Much appreciated!

Please this requirement of an additional letter from the bank, asides bank statement, confirming access to withdrawal of funds, did you guys do it too? Or just the bank statement alone is OK.

If you guys used the additional letter, please how did you request for it.

As for the VFS, I paid ₦37K in total, which included courier fee and passport photograph, which was taken there.

Thanks for responding!

So the N59k was for the Irish embassy, how much did you pay to VFS please?
Making a total of how much.

Thank you!

Pascal122:

You'll pay online with your naira bank card online to book with VFS. Print your booking form, which will have your time slot there.

Then at the VFS, I paid ₦59,000 to the Irish embassy. They will ask you to pay with your via POS after you've submitted your documents.

Could you please share how much you paid, the visa fee, vfs fee and any other fee(s) you paid and how you made payment (online through the website, card payment there or cash)

Thank you!

Pascal122:
For those yet to submit their visa at the embassy of VFS, here's a simple guide and tip to help you. I just submitted mine and I wish someone told me this.

1. The embassy will only take coloured photocopies of every document from you. So you need to need print photocopies of every single document, just the important ones. You can go with the original copies of your documents but after they see it, you will give them the coloured photocopies. They won't return any documents (apart from your passports) back to you. Hence make coloured photocopies of documents that are vital e.g NYSC certificate, birth certificate, and School certificates.

2. Make coloured photocopies of all the pages of your previous and current passport photographs. Make two extra coloured photocopies of just the data page of your current passport too.

3. There's a questionnaire you'll fill. Most of us didn't have it, so we bought it inside the embassy and filled it. After filling it, still make a coloured photocopy of the questionnaire and submit too.

4. They do photocopies at a cheaper rate inside the VFS office than outside. Don't listen to those people outside the building, go inside and you will make any extra copy for ₦100 - ₦200. This is for Lagos o.

5. You can pay for your passport taken inside there too. I think it's ₦1,800 or so. You can pay for this service online when booking your appointment or when you are there physically. Again it's cheaper than doing it outside.

6. Put your documents in files/envelopes and name them appropriately so you can give them out when you are asked.

7. Make sure you submit all the documents on your checklist, including the ones you weren't asked to bring. The lady forgot to ask me to submit my work reference letters, so I went back gave her.

That's all. All the best! We are all hoping for positive news.

Pls I didn’t include d reasons for visa refusal for Canada in my visa application letter but I submitted the hard copy of the refusal letter along with my documents. Do you think it is okay that way ?
We all look for safety and guarantee of approval but then there are some questions asked here that only a visa officer can answer, some of these things don't even have a rule of thumb but left to the discretion of the presiding VO.
To your question, the reason for the rejection should be included in the refusal letter which you already submitted. It is to your own discretion to either or not add context about it in your application letter, but good thing is that you submitted it.
All will go well and in your favour, rest!

HELLO NAIRALANDERS,

I would want honest advice for someone who already has a USA MSc degree with no solid work experience since 2015 but has a small start-up company in Nigeria and want to study again in Ireland, can he apply for an MBA/Executive MBA/ a professional Masters e.g Project Management? Can someone please say if he should apply for studies again.

Can someone also please state here detailed study visa requirements for postgraduate visa applicants and since the person already has a USA MSc certificate since 2014, will he still need to present an English Language Proficiency Test score as part of visa requirement? Will he be exempted from such requirement? And how should one pay tuition and accommodation from Nigeria considering the debit card and foreign transfer blockages from Nigerian banks? Do Irish universities offer a no-deposit Master Programme and will this be recognised by the embassy if no tuition is paid until after arrival in Ireland?

Someone who has a knowledge of all these questions as of 2023 should please reply and looking forward to that. Thanks!

Paragraph 1: You can study if you want to
Paragraph 2: For the English, Just ask the embassy. For payment, bro you've studied abroad before, probably how you paid for the one in the US. For no-deposit? Probably impossible, deposit is just standard procedure everywhere.
Majority of what you're asking has been answered on the embassy website, just check it well, and if in doubt, you can ask for clarity.

Pls, can you briefly explain what this edubond is for exactly and how it works?? Thank you
You can easily google this though. Edubond is education bond, that is money you pay into an irish agency that holds your funds for you till you arrive in ireland, and is shortly released to you upon creation of your own bank account when you arrive and are settled in ireland.
The Edubond is a substitute for POF which you would use to prove your capability of covering your living expenses cost.

Thank you for this... Are there any negative implications of stating I have a family to accommodate me, with proof of course.
Not sure anyone can know this as to whether it can have a negative implication or not.
Not sure as to why you (presumably) want to share this information either, maybe you want to thinking it would strengthen your application, but contrasting it with the requirements of the embassy, is it part of their requirements? Not sure of the peculiarities of your situation but remember also that having a strong tie to your home country upon completion of your intended study is also important. In all, the overall decision is yours to take.

Is an edubond compulsory, and how can one leverage that you have a family and accommodation to host you in ireland (very close proximity to your school like 20 minutes ) in the visa application
No! Edubond isn't compulsory, not sure why you'll ask coz it isn't stated anywhere that it is.
Secondly, you can use your application letter as leverage for any information or explanations you may have, attaching proof.

I paid my fees using form A via first bank. There's a portal for form A, fill it up with all the necessary documents and submit your application, it would be reviewed and approved by your bank, after which the school fees either u want full or half (depending on how much you want to pay) would be debited from your account. I didn't use transfermate. I used form A.

Thanks for your response Mariamaudu.
If I may ask, how is it that you didn't use transfermate, I thought school in Ireland use that as their accepted mode of payment.
How did you get the account details of the school for payment? Could you please enlighten just a bit more.

Create a transaction on transfermate then fill the details generated in your form A application, you can drop your digits so I can explain better if it's not clear

Hi everyone,

Please can someone who is familiar with "Form A" and "Transfermate" please give guidance.
1. Which of the process does one begin with first, Form A or Transfermate? given that Transfermate has a 48 hours time frame.
I'm thinking one has to initiate transfermate first in order to get the details needed for Form A (I don't know, just saying).
2. Is there a cap on the amount payable through Form A? Or one can pay all the fees at once.

This also goes for the edu-bond as well.
Please anyone who knows about this processes should kindly comment. Thank you!
