And your argument about Breaking Bad...I think it's valid.

I've always said that Breaking Bad had a very boring first 2 seasons...
That's why I prefer Better Call Saul to it.

At the end of the day, the entire list is subjective but I just find it insulting to say shows like Power or Money Heist or Blacklist are among the best shows of all time...

Blacklist for instance would make my list of one of the worst shows I've ever watched
I think the term subjective clears everything up. Power was really good and it has spawned into a universe, and it still be culturally referenced till this day. I see the Ghost, Tasha and Angela love triage meme now and then on X, so it isn't surprising people are saying it's one of their best shows of all time, and it doesn't negate it just because you didn't vibe with it. Money Heist too, huge pop culture impact, we had peeps dressing as the robbers at cosplays and costume parties, even down here, so not surprising.

You are thinking a show has to be PHD level, super intricate in methodology, plot and otherwise for it to be people's best show ever, that's where you are wrong. Highly critically acclaimed ≠ Best shows ever, in most people's view point.

1. Game of Thrones/HoTD
2. Friends
3. Stranger Things
4. Avatar: the Last Airbender
5. Succession
6. Better Call Saul
7. Breaking Bad
8. Bridgerton
9. The Boys
10. ?....
TBH i am not really into making these sort of lists, i have seen too many good shows/and still seeing, to narrow it down to a "Top 10" list. Like there isn't a defined criteria to make these list.

For E.G aren't you the one complaining about how "The Boys" S4 is going?, what is the criteria for it been on your list? Do you even know if they are gonna end it well?

And Bridgerton? Common on man, i don't even understand the context you used in putting it there, so you already see why making these kind lists is somehow.

Ideally, imo, Your "Top 10 list of your best shows" should be shows you can see over and over again, without getting tired. I haven't been able to sit through the entire "GOT" for a rewatch since my first run, except occasionally seeing random episodes to clear up some issh. I can wholeheartedly tell you, I can't sit through "The Boys" again from S1, when there are other new media to see every day. I think it has been only Dark (2017 - 2020) i have rewatched because it was a short binge with just 3 seasons.Only sitcoms these criteria in hindsight because, i can't honestly count how many times have seen "Scrubs", TAAHM", and "Everybody hates Chris

I think people confused most critically acclaimed show of all time with best shows of all time, and the latter is highly subjective and very dynamic. It's cool you are able to come up with such list tho but it will be very difficult for me.

Someone brought it to Twitter and some Nigerians were calling Breaking Bad overrated..

Meanwhile they were asking why no Blacklist, Power, Teen Wolf, Vampire Diaries, Spartacus, Money Heist etc on the list grin

I can see now that we really deserve what Hollywood is dishing out lmao grin grin

How some people really believe shows like Power or Blacklist are among the best shows of all time is shocking

Nowadays we have numerous prestige TV to watch. If there are no movies TV shows that can match movies toe to toe in production value is plentiful this period. So not much people are compelled to the theatrical experience.

Imagine top tier projects like THE BOYS, HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, RINGS OF POWER, ARCANE, PENGUIN, DUNE: SISTERHOOD all coming out later this year. Following each other back to back.

Also, TV screen technology going through serious improvement and evolution like 4K TVs and better IPS LED display etc and great sound system, you're good to go man...all in your house! 😃

lol you just described my delima when working on a motion graphics or animation project, i have a plathora of scores in my library to use, but all copyrighted, and should a client share such project as a Youtube shorts for E.G, Youtube has this weird rule of giving royalties to the owner of the sound you used, especially when said sound is from a major label. So i am left scrubbing pixalbay for the next closest sound to use that is royalty free. I still can't use Cornfield Chase on an official project for years now 😩🥲

On the AI thing, I think you're overestimating the emotional complexities of the average human a bit. All the average media consumer needs is to be entertained.
The sunset that actually care about depth are in the minority. That's why a lot of folks fall for and react to clickbait titles that could be cleared by just reading a paragraph or two of the actual article. Cos most people don't really care about media past the surface level.

Will AI ever truly produce human storytelling? I think we stand on the same side here. I also don't believe it ever will.

Will it mimic it well enough to entertain the average person? I definitely believe it can. Sooner, rather than later

That Vampire Diaries became so long AF I finally gave up and stopped following especially when the show runner Julie Plec deciding to spoil things further and shit on the fans. E be like say na season 8/9 I watch reach. 😭😭

There was this popular release group called Don World/Donatus world that specialised in releasing series DVDs complete or not, but they will make sure to stamp "The Complete Season" on every pack 😩😩...proper crase people.

I got what i thought was the complete Heroes Season 1, only for me to see it had just 10 episodes, ran back the very next week to complain, only for them to tell me that, what I have is the season 1, and that season 2 just dropped that morning, me i was like S1 and S2 came out within one week apart? 😩, since i had no way to confirm back then, i just went with it, and got what i thought was the complete S2, with 13 episodes, and foolish me was happy...only for me to discover down the line, that the show actually had 23 episodes for S1, and these Mfs just split S1 into 2 and they casually released "S2" from thier shop...when i found out, my head just dey boil 😩😩.

Thank God for the "digital" mann ☺️

lool. I can't remember a flick in the past few years that haven't had "fantastic first reactions" but we all know how some turned out. The Flash got the same "fantastic first reaction", even the show "The Idol", drew a 5 minutes clapping ovation from the crowd at cannes and looked how it flopped.

My point being. I pay no mind to these "reactions", till i see the said flick for myself.

A slowburn that starts to pay off in the 3rd and 4th episode.
It's easily the best series in the Star Wars franchise and one of the best overall. It even rivals Rogue One.

Mehn, that Madam Maarva Carissa Andor funeral scene was top notch top of the line Cinematic masterpiece. Emotions was at the zenith, suspense and tension was at its peak, that episode was well crafted and executed. Her speech was quite moving, even me that was watching felt the powerful message, almost dropped a tear 😂, and nearly jumped into the screen to join fellow comrades in the battle against oppression and fight for freedom. Everything came at a climax.

Then there's the On-program prison scene, where Cassian masterminded a jail break. One of the best episodes in sci-fi history.

It's a top tier political drama.... I never thought the SW franchise could conjure something like this.

The visuals was perfect. The suspense and drama was pristine, the score was great, the acting was great, writing and directing was premium quality.
Never expected it to be this good but Lucas Film cooked here. 😎

This scene broke me 🥹🥹. That was the best episode by the way. Definitely one of the best shows i saw last year and my personal fave in the "Stars wars Disney plus" circa era.

See the movie ", Star Wars: Rogue one" (2016). This is series is the Prequel.

Queen mother of the Nepo babies cheesy. Her dad literally put her on the map by casting her as an infant in one of the greatest movies of all time cheesy.


But she has grown into her own as a filmmaker. I have particularly enjoyed "Lost in Translation", The Beguiled" and "On the Rocks".

I dey doubt whether Netflix go fit compete like this with this kind of slate in awards season.
HBO is definitely winning most nominations asides from awards won.

And we're not even talking about smaller hits like The Gilded Age and The White Lotus. Barry sef dey there for comedy.
Make i no lie, it's been quite a while i have seen a HBO series that i didn't like. It's like they have a special magnet to all the good series script and talented series makers. I'm not even surprised that they are always raking in Emmys each year. There 2023 slate consist of "The Last of Us", Barry S4, Succession S4, The Idol, The White House plumbers, True Detective S4 just to name a few. Stellar Stellar line up and Potential Emmy contenders!

Especially with the threat of Disney winning Best Picture over the years with Beauty and The Beast and then Lion King really scared them. grin

Same disrespect they've been showing CBMs, until Batman started knocking some sense into 'em.
I generally consider "TDK" as one of the best CBM ever made and it did deserve "Best Picture" but the Academy awards have a warped pretentious perception of what a movie worthy of thier Big five awards should be and CBM are not serious enough or politically correct enough in thier books to be worthy of these awards even though TDK was as politically correct as they come and it even created a shift on how CBM were made from then on.

Here's my take on the issue and I hope that Riseborough nomination is rescinded. 😡
I feel "The Oscars" have put their selves in a bind here with the Andrea Riseborough nom, If they let it go ahead = PR mess, if they rescind it, this close to the awards = A bigger PR mess and frankly the movie isn't worth these trouble, i have seen better "Drunken and down to the last luck Mother road to redemption" flicks. I even skipped it last year, it was the oscar buzz that made me see it.

The Michelle Williams "category fraud" talk is that she didn't have enough screen time and meaningful arc in the the movie ( afraid to mention the name because of the elephant in the room 😭😭), which for some reasons, i still haven't seen so, i can't really judge but She's a very dynamic actress and with four norms already which were stellar performances and she would have stood a better chance in the "Supporting actress category" because my last dime is on either Cate Blanchett or Michelle Yeoh grabbing the best actress nod this year.

Anyways, the oscar imo is losing credibility and relevance, with each passing year. Was it not last year here they had that PR disaster between Chris Rock and Will Smith?. I am definitely sure this year will serve up another judging by all the drama we are witnessing now.

'VELMA' remains this week's most in demand show, by increasing from its debut 127% with their viewership performance being 37.7 higher than a average series.

A clear case of all publicity either good or bad is still "Publicity". The record breaking low ratings the show is getting is driving more people to want to see it for themselves. Just like "Morbius" last year.
