Fantastic! Well done, bro- rooting for you. Yes, you have a good CGPA (minus your advanced standing GPA) to be considered for the first round. I think MCF should give you a waiver, and your CGPA should get you to McGill. I should stress that, that depend on other factors- like pool of applicants (if they have tons of other competitive applicants), other document submitted by you. Since you've submitted, you have to wait and keep the hope alive. Please email MCF this week to ask about your status! In summary, if you're granted a waiver, you can submit your application to the department. If the department admits you, then MCF will review your application for the scholarship (winners to be announced by March/April). For your other question- YES, you can start PhD (again, depends on many factors)- but generally, you're not going back unless you wish to go! Mastercard is quite flexible. blackfish: |

Yea, more like a POLYTECHNIC but not a direct substitute! After high school, you do a pre-university college program. Those colleges award diplomas, certificates and whatnot! Love800: |

Things are changing super fast! 1) Quebec govt recently announced tuition hikes for out-of-province and international students in English schools in Quebec 2) Yesterday, IRCC announced a 2X increase in Proof of funds for International students No one can predict what's going to happen in the coming months, but if I may advise- A) Consider applying for Scholarships- if you have a high-ranking scholarship, you've solved >50% of the Canadian visa problem. B) Consider applying to Universities with low tuition (& email Professors there). E.g., Memorial University. University of Manitoba also has a differential waiver for PhD programs (I.e., you pay as local students), and I think McMaster University does too. C) Applying to colleges isn't the way to go now! They don't offer scholarships, so how do you intend to convince VO that it's worth spending >40k CAD for a one-year program, and you don't have the equivalent in your country? Purpose of visit! D) Apply to college if you have low grades that won't qualify you for MSc admission (and tie your SOP to that direction). This way, the VO will be convinced of your intent to study in Canada. E) Be strategic! This is not the time to do anyhow (in fact, a tweet by the Minister yesterday night hinted at this)! An advanced-level degree will likely increase your chances of getting a visa with how things are going! F) Again, apply for scholarships— I can't stress this enough. E.g., Mastercard Scholarship, Mitacs, Vanier, Trudeau, among others. Last but not least, DO IT YOURSELF and submit the correct documents. At this point, IRCC may be doing thorough reviews of applications, and any fake submission may lead to a 5-year ban. As usual, I'll be posting more scholarship opportunities on my page, and I hope you find one that interests you. N.B.- I'm not an immigration consultant or agent- I only share all I know about SCHOLARSHIPS and, specifically, Canada. Good luck! https://x.com/drhammed/status/1733071551526830528?s=46 2 Likes |

If you're looking for accommodation (a room) in Edmonton, you can send a DM! There's a room (in a 2-bedroom) available in central Edmonton. One of the rooms has a washroom inside the room (and slightly bigger than the other). So, the bigger room is $720 per month, and the small room is $600/month. The Damage deposit is $750 (a one-time payment to be shared by both occupants). The small room is taken, and the big room is available. If you're interested, DM for more information- first-come, first-served. It's close to schools, and grocery stores, and it's in central Edmonton. 2 Likes |

No! As long as it's 1 country (not 2) in Europe, you don't need a transit visa- your Canadian Visa will cover you. Rils: |

OTSAMUEL: Since you're an undergrad, 1. The VO doesn't know which course you applied for and will make a decision based on the info you submit! It'd have been a different case if you going for MSc (but since you didn't have any BSc degree before, you have little to nothing to worry about career progression.) 2. The question you should ask yourself (or perhaps we ask you) is if the course "given" to you is of interest to you? If yes, please proceed with your study permit application and write good SOP. 3. Good luck! 2 Likes |

To add to this, book a "low-cost" airline like "flair" or "swoop" when you get to Toronto- that will make it cheaper. Booking via AirCanada may be expensive tho. zubizareta: 1 Like |

I'd advise you to include your UK MSc- you can't hide that anyways (IRCC will ask for your status in the UK). To increase your chances (if you don't want to do a PhD), why not apply for another research-based (2yrs) MSc in Canada? At least that can show career progression. Good luck! desi10mi: |

You need a valid US visa if you're transiting via the US. You can fly over 1 EU country but not 2 -on the same trip- (unless you have a transit visa chiomapx: 2 Likes |

@the bolded part- not completely true in Montreal (not talking for other Quebec cities)! There are tons of student jobs in Montreal, and some won't require your French. In general (like I always say), French is most important (in Montreal) when you're applying for govt jobs or PR (even for PR, there are ways around it). Depending on your field, you may even get a full-time job without French (for example, so many tech jobs may not need French). Apparently, learning French will be advantageous but definitely not a barrier to living in Montreal (a very big and diverse city). Iykip: |

Let me answer the first part and allow those grounded on the 2nd part to answer. I'd advise you to do the Postgraduate Diploma instead of just a Graduate Certificate program. Are you sure the "Graduate Certificate program" will be qualified for PGWP? If you do a certificate program that is < 8 months (I'm afraid you're not qualified for PGWP). If it's 1yr (you'll most likely get a 1yr PWGP and that may put you under unnecessary pressure). The best thing to do here is to enroll for at least a 16-month program. That way, you can get ~3yrs PGWP (which I assume your overall goal is to get your Permanent Residency in Canada?). Best wishes Haychay: 2 Likes |

I'd say you contact them to correct that. They don't joke with misrepresentation- so clear everything as fast as possible. Good luck Victoria32: |

Why would you want to mention that in your SOP? If anything, they have your file and know your previous rejection history. Also, in the application, they (unless things changed recently) always ask if you've ever been rejected before and you'd say YES in your case. Aside that, I'd focus on the goal of SOP and convince the VO why you should be approved. Good luck! Aghoghomena: |

Look for (relatively) affordable schools in Canada. If your sister is willing to support, I think you can still pull some stuff. For example, check Memorial University. A year (or 16 months max) program will be okay for you- you figure out the rest in the country. Not easy but definitely not impossible. Good luck! yamunla: |

2) Barrie is ~ 90-100Km away from Toronto (like 1hr drive or so). Generally, Ontario (like other parts of Canada) is safe and should not be faced with security challenges. I think Barrie is part of GTA, so you can apply for jobs in Toronto and use GO Transit. That means if you work in Toronto, you can be using GO transit to your city (again >1hr journey to-fro). 3) You can get accommodation via Kijiji or MarketPlace. The good thing is, accommodation in that city will be (relatively) cheaper than in Toronto or Scarborough, for example (so, there's a tradeoff). No specific amount because things are now so expensive. You can budget 800-1200/per month (more or less) for a studio apartment (and you never know, you may be lucky to get a one-bed apartment within that range- but no guarantee). 4) Good city, easy path to PR after your graduation (via express entry, PNP), close proximity to Toronto and GTA (for jobs). Good luck! Yeesha24: |

labyrinth007: NO! Abandoned application not submitted should not affect you (IRCC will discard it within 60 days of inactivity- and so no review). N.B.- that's if it was truly abandoned and not submitted to IRCC. |
