Computers / How To Synch Onedrive And Google Drive by dynamicd28(m): 11:37pm On Dec 05, 2024
Greetings,

I currently use onedrive as my main cloud file storage.

I am looking for a solution where I can sync all the files on my onedrive to a fresh google drive account. The reason for this is so that if microsoft one day decides to lock me out or delete my account for whatever reason, I would still have my google drive with all my files intact.

My ideal scenario is: as I upload files into my onedrive, the same files should automatically sync and be available on the google drive in the correct folder e.g:

If I save a file named A in a folder Z which is in mother folder X, sub -folder Y, on my one drive, I would want to see the file in the same location on my google drive and vice-versa.

I need to get this done asap, however due to work and studying ( I have an exam soon) I cannot research the solutions myself. If possible I will like somebody to make me a screen recording of how to do this by creating a onedrive account and google drive account just for demonstration purposes, then sync them and show in the video how it is done, by creating folders and sub-folders and saving files in them so that they we can see if they sync correctly and automatically on both onedrive and google drive.

I know paying is frowned upon, I believe anybody who does the above for me deserves some form of compensation for the time spent in making a screen recording and possibly researching the solutions. Moderator please if there is a better forum for this please guide me. If you find this offensive, I am sorry.

Hello guys , This is to update you on my progress :

I applied for DHA evisa

on 3/10/2023, completed payment and documents upload on 12/10/2023.

45 days after I completed payment and document upload I sent an email hacc on 27/11/2023 to follow up on the application but there was no reply.

On 4/12/2023 I received an email notifying of correspondence on my dash board .On the dashboard it showed :

Application Status : complete
Progress Status : Adjudication outcome received.

However there was no link to download the the document containing the correspondence.

I have seen several posts here with people experiencing this, sent an email to Hacc and the eye button appeared within hours or at most a few days.

I wrote several emails to Hacc but the eye button never showed up on my dashboard.

They replied twice . The first reply, they asked me to look for the eye button . I checked all over my dashboard but there was no eye button.

In the last one month I sent almost 32 emails with screen shot of my dashboard showing no eye button or document.

They replied again this week stating that their records show that an outcome has been issued . Again they asked me to still go to the dash board to click on the " outcome", this time they didn't mention the "eye". In the second paragraph of the same mail there was a contradiction to the first paragraph, it read

" An outcome will be communicated with you as soon as the application is finalised."

In addition to Hacc I have written to :
Yusuf.sumons@dha.go.za
Tommy.makhode@dha.gov.za

Tshifhiwa.maiwashe@dha.gov.za
Yogie.travern@dha.gov.za
Nischal.jaynaran@dha.gov.za
Rooi.skosana@dha.gov.za

I have read this thread backwards upto more than a year and I have not come across a post with information of outcome download eye button taking a month to appear

Let me know if you have any suggestions on actions I can take in addition to what I have done so far. Thanks

Good day everyone, just a quick update, as at today I have sent 36 emails on the above matter. The latest reply from Hacc signed by Veronica Maluleke asked me to check for a letter obtained under: payment/supporting documents/letters. I checked but there was nothing.

DHA EVISA HISTORY:

Application submission: 3/10/2023
Supporting documents upload completed : 12/10/2023
Time spent waiting for DHA evisa: 4 months

Thanks all for the comments and information on this thread, special thanks to Hunnee, who takes the time to answer/comment on every question regarding DHA evisa.

I have decided to try the sticker Visa application through VFS Abuja. Kindly help with the following questions:

1. There is a notice on the VFS Nigeria website applicable to all South Africa applicants in Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja displayed on 18/09/2023, number 3 on the list of documents is Police clearance certificate. I am applying for a short stay visitor's visa and in my experience with previous sticker visa applications prior to covid -19 and more recently with DHA evisa, police clearance was never required. Those that recently applied physically at Abuja VFS, was a police clearance certificate required?

2. If I choose not to pay for the SMS service, will I get email notifications?

Thanks

Travel / Challenges Faced By Nigerians In Diaspora Travelling Home For Christmas by dynamicd28(m): 12:24am On Jan 19, 2024
Good day everyone.

The intent of this topic, is to stimulate a healthy and productive discussion on the challenges Nigerians abroad face during planning, making travel arrangements, and the actual journey experience itself. The festive season has just ended and most people have returned to their station/base. I believe this is a good time to recount experiences whilst still fresh in the mind good or bad, so that solutions can be found for a more enjoyable journey in December 2024.

To kick this off, I propose the following talking points:

1. Budgeting/saving for the trip, how early to buy the ticket?
2. Airline recommendation/warning from various departure points, based on affordability, number of stops, transit time, baggage allowance, food and in-flight entertainment.
3. How often do Nigerians travel home for Christmas : yearly, 2 years, 3 years or 5 years
4. Worst part of the journey home and how it can be improved

Let's type away ladies and gentlemen.

Alright.
Supporting documents ( lands, educational certificates etc , use ilovepdf to merge them together)

Subsequently, attach the document they request in the upload space.

Pls make sure anything you are attaching, you don't leave your accommodation booking, flight and yellow fever out. Very important.

All the best and patiently follow it through.

What I did was to upload the documents they asked for alone without any attachments.

Then optional documents I wanted to add to give my application more weight, I merged with my letter of self intro as one document. Hope this helps

I successfully uploaded the 4.6mb file. Two more left, experiencing the same challenge with a 4.3 mb . The last file is currently at 8mb , we have been working to reduce it to below 5, it was initially 16mb, we shall continue tommorrow.

When I clicked "view", to see the 4.6mb file already uploaded, it took a very long time to open. I am inclined to agree with you rather than the HACC response. The error message has something to do with the file size or quality, perhaps the website struggles to accept files close to the 5mb limit .

The UAE visa application gave me the same file size/quality challenges during upload in early 2022, which I eventuality overcame. On a lighter note this application process has made me memorise my passport number due to the numerous logins. grin grin

Document upload was successfully completed, the sweet spot file size for ease of upload is a maximum 3.8 mb , and in addition very strong internet connection and several attempts. I paid R425 with my access bank USD card. DHA EVISA

Depending on which country you live In and how far the consulate is from you, the quickest option will be to apply through vfs(vfs submits your documents to sa embassy) route, which I believe if you are in Nigeria, you should get a quick approval(within 5-10 days) provided you submit all the needed documents. Not sure if Nigeria has the Premium Vfs service option but that speeds it up faster in 3-5 days.

To also be sincere with you it's been only a week since you applied through the evisa route. I'm assuming you have awaiting adjudication
on your status? Give it a week or two more to receive a decision.

Evisa unfortunately isn't a faster route in the time being. By applying through vfs you can at least have that method as a backup while you await a final decision of the evisa route.

NOTE: To all those needing an expedited visa approval application, vfs(physical route) route is always the best especially when you select and pay for the premium service with them because your package(visa application) arrives at the sa embassy with a tag that makes the consular aware that you are in need of prompt decision due to various reasons( such as a conference you are attending on short notice, or your flight is due to depart in a few days), Evisa doesn't have this method as it takes them days if not weeks to even open an application let alone render it a final decision.

Hope this helps. Cheers

This is my experience with VFS Abuja. I submitted an application on 8/10/2021, and paid the premium fee, this gives you a faster submission experience at the centre, it does not affect the processing time once the file gets to the RSA mission. At the lounge, I asked the person who attended to me what steps to take if I need my passport for a seven days trip at short notice, She said I should simply write an email containing a request to temporarily withdraw my passport for the trip. Three months, after submission, no decision was made, and a need arose for me to travel to another country, I wrote an email as earlier advised, only to get a response instructing me to request a complete withdrawal of my application and accept to forfeit the fee earlier paid. I had to comply because the trip was important.

I Agree that physical submissions may be easier in other countries, for example, after the experience above, on 30/06/2022 I applied for the RSA visa through the VFS Visa application centre in Dubai, the processing time there is 6 days, professionals in certain fields can withdraw their passport and return it later for the sticker once ready. Unfortunately for me , my application was immediately rejected after two days, because my residence permit for the UAE was less than 3 months old at the time, I was aware of this requirement but took the chance anyway.

This code/error number you received has to do with how you uploaded the documents. Normally when the pdf or jpg picture isn't clear enough you will be given this error. also be aware that if you take a picture with your phone (example being a picture of your visa or passport bio) and upload the link you might encounter this error due to the image not being visible enough. Hope this helps mate

It is a 4.6mb pdf file. It is clear and legible to my own eyes. HACC replied, saying that "The error was temporary, please try again later''.

I got the above message while attempting to upload one of the required documents, its size is 4.6mb. Has anyone experienced something similar? I have sent a mail to HACC, from my experience they revert in two days, let's see what happens. This is for DHA evisa.

Yeah, been like that for years. You apply via this site https://www.tradesystem.gov.ng/landing/index.html
Do you have your tax cert though? Also you can only get it at "available" price so expect it to be almost at the black market rate smiley .
All the best

True! but if you have the required documents buy from CBN :

For example the I&E exchange (a.k.a cbn) rate for 28/09/2023 was N775.99 (fmdqgroup.com/exchange/)
Black market rate for 28/09/2023 was N1,008 (aboki FX)

If you are buying $1,000 you will save N232,010!
Car Talk / Re: Tell Us Your Car Fault Lets Assess And Fix Them by dynamicd28(m): 5:50pm On Sep 28, 2023
I earlier posted this on the "Peugeot cars with attitude section" since 23rd, Its quiet there , hope to get some comments here.

Hello everyone! I have a Peugeot 206 :

* 1.4i 75HP (TU3JP) manual gear box.
*Bought brand new at 109km mileage.
* Has 53,936 km total mileage and 15 years service.
* Used only for light town running.
* Only manufacturer approved oils have been used on it.
* All replacement parts used were genuine, ordered from Peugeot dealers overseas.

I plead guilty of the following Lion abuses :

* Car has been tampered with by numerous Kazeems: "rewire" and mechanic . In the early years, I was using Oluwalogbon Motors on Obafemi Awolowo Way Ikeja, but stopped due to high prices!

*Cooling fan was connected to run direct.

* Oil change was irregular due to low utilisation, but manufacturer recommended Total oil was always used.

* Timing belt cut while I was driving, ( My carelessness) this thread has taught me to replace timing kit every 4 years or 80kkm. The cylinder valves got damaged by the incident, I replaced all 8 valves, but work was done by a kazeem.

* The car once overheated in 2019 , genuine gaskets where installed by a kazeem. I cannot remember if the water pump was changed.

I repent my sins, going forward I will not abuse the lion again. I love the car and Intend to restore it gradually to how it was in 2008, or at least the best it could be at its age. We shall start from under the bonnet, gradually progressing to aesthetics. The progress will be posted here .

This thread has been of tremendous help to me , but more help and input is needed from knowledgeable and experienced persons here.

My lion has the following issues under the bonnet :

ENGINE :

* Exhausts white smoke (burning oil):
I suspect this problem was caused by the quality of work done by the Kazeem who replaced the damaged cylinder valves.

All the Kazeems suggested I buy a tokunbo engine ! I don't want to buy a tokunbo engine because :

* It will come with unknown history.
* It will most likely have a higher mileage than mine.
* This thread has shown me that most tokunbo engines are refurbished Nigeria used.

During the course of my research , I discovered that smoky exhaust fumes may be caused by three things:

* Worn piston rings,
* Leaking valves/seals
* Burnt gaskets.

In order to isolate the cause, one needs to carry out a compression test. I asked around for a place to get the test done in Lagos , but found none! This forced me to buy the compression test kit. I learnt how to conduct the test on YouTube, however because I am not experienced in practice,I sought the help of some Kazeems to disconnect the fuel and ignition, so that I can carry out the test myself, but they all refused.

I contacted PAN in Kaduna and asked them to recommend a mechanic I could use in Lagos. They introduced me to Mr Goke whose workshop is located at a military premises in Yaba. When I went to him, he was also not keen on carrying out the compression test. He used his phone to scan the car and told me there was a problem with two of the cylinders, He further mentioned that the engine sounds okay when revved. His diagnosis was bad piston rings. The following parts will be needed to fix the problem:

1. Piston rings
2. Valve seal
3. Sleeve packing
4. Cylinder head gasket

From the list, He has basically covered all the possible causes of burning oil. What do you guys think? Should I go ahead ? What are the chances of success considering the car's history? What is a reasonable labour cost for this kind of work? Has anyone here used the services of Mr Goke ?

Perusing this thread and one of Ikenna's videos, I have learnt that :

* Cooling system abuse ( which I am guilty of)
* Overheating ( happened in 2019)

Can cause structural damage to cylinders, pistons and connecting rods . Is there a way of testing to determine if mine is damaged?

This is to update you on the progress of my evisa (DHA) application . I submitted the application on 12/09/2023, however when the list of supporting documents was displayed, I realised that the selected visa category was wrong! I chose "Business visa section 15" because my trip is for business," business visa section 15" is for those interested in setting up a business in South Africa. The correct visa for my purpose is visitor's visa section 11.

A fresh application for visitor's visa was completed, this was immediately rejected because of the pending business visa application, "awaiting supporting documents". I sent an email to hacc@dha.gov.za with a request for the cancellation of the business visa application. HACC replied on 14/09/2023, stating that my query has been "forwarded to the relevant department for assistance".

The business visa application status is still showing "awaiting supporting documents" today exactly two weeks from HACC's response, there has been no subsequent correspondence from HACC. I sent another cancellation request again today. It has been posted on this forum, that applications not backed up with supporting documents will cancel after 14 days. Is it 14 calendar days or working days?

While driving today, I could not engage any gear, had to get some boys to help Me push the car in neutral. Just before this happened, I noticed two things:

1. Idle rpm was slightly high, about 1200
2. The clutch pedal got stuck to the floor, had to use my leg to lift it back up, this has happened a few times in the past. What could be the possible reasons for gears failing to engage?

* Most of the maintenance issues I experienced were due to my carelessness.

* Myself and a friend drove on a flooded road, he was driving a Landrover, I was in my 206. The water did not cause any problems on the 206, but the Landrover was damaged.
