Nobody played in the hands of the INEC. Nigerians saw the evil plot, raised the concern right at polling units, yet INEC ignored them, & continued with their plans, with the help of the security agencies. It's a deliberate act.
But it's not yet over!

Car Talk / Re: Having Issues With Your Car AC ,lets Discuss It Here by easysunny(m): 4:40pm On May 19, 2022
Pls help. My car AC (2008 Honda Pilot) is giving me problem. The compressor coil keep burning after changing it. It'll just work for few weeks & got burnt Then recently, both the compressor & condesser were changed ( Tok compressor + New condesser). The AC just worked for like 2 weeks, & stopped cooling. I called the technician & discovered it was gas leakage & then was fixed.
Now, I didn't use the car for a week plus. When I on the AC, I started hearing whisling sound, then burnt smell coming out. The AC is no longer cooling, only fan blowing. Then I checked the compressor, I saw some black debris that come out of it. But when I on the AC, the compressor will be rolling but not cooling, only air from fan blowing.
Then I called the technician, & he said that it might be that the compressor coil has burnt again. What's causing it, no one has told me.
I've changed compressor coil for 5 times within few months. Then I changed the compressor & condesser, still having same .issues, AC stopping working, coil keep burning. I just leave it like that for now. I'm fed up.

Pls, what could be the cause, & what can I do? Thanks in advance

It could be a case of substandard oil inside the hardex 5w20. I had someone tell me his experience of how his car started smoking on servicing with hardex 5w20. Drain the oil and fill it up with oil of another brand with similar oil weight.

Thanks for your advice. I'll do just that

Ahhh shocked easysunny na wah oh. As at a year and a half ago you once posted of seeing same blue smoke exiting your exhaust system. Why didn’t you mention this information before?

If truly you’ve only been using the 5w20 weight of whatever oils you buy on your engine since purchase then I’d advise you to switch to a well known synthetic 5w30 brand and then add a can of liquimoly MoS2 anti-friction engine oil treatment in your next oil change and observe your exhaust and oil levels too.

I suggest you rule out any cylinder wall damages or subtle oil leaks by running your engine with the liquimoly additive first before thinking of using heavier weight oils or attempting an engine rebuild or swap

Gazzuzz thanks for the exposè

Yes, I had similar issue then, but after changing oil, it stopped.
I've only be using 5w20 though with different brands, viz mobile 1, Stallion & Harden.
The earlier oil used before this latest change is the same Hardex 5w20. And there was no experience of blue smoke. That's why I continued with the Hardex. I'm surprised to see the blue smoke as I changed the oil this October.

I'll follow this your advice. Thanks

Yes...change the oil.

A neighbour had similar experience couple of years back when he changed the oil to Mobil 2000, the smoke stopped!

Goodluck to you!

Thanks. I'll do that

I for one do not like Hardex or support the use of it. It's possible that your car has been smoking but you never noticed it till recently however it's also possible that the oils viscosity isn't up to standard on high temperature which is why I always recommend the usage of high quality oil like Mobil 1, Pennzoil, liqui moly etc especially when you want to stick to 5w20 in temperate regions. I'd suggest you visit any mobile filling station and buy their Mobil 2000 5w30 oil and service your vehicle again and see what happens.

Will Mobil 2000 5w30 be okay as against recommended 5w20? Can it serve?

Pls house help! My car, 2008 Honda Pilot recently brings out blue smoke from exhaust when I accelerate. I recently changed engine oil, that was on October. I used Hardex 5w20.
However, I didn't use the car often because I wasn't around. It was mostly packed.
NB: I used the same Hardex 5W20 earlier & didn't have any such issue.
Aside the blue smoke coming out from the exhaust, no other issue seen.

What could cause the blue smoke coming out?
Do I need to change the oil again?
What should I do?

Thanks

I saw you use same car as mine, honda pilot 2008. Which oil have you been using?

Yes. I've used mobile 1 5w20. Then used Stallion 1 5w20. But I'm thinking of changing to Hardex 5w20. I heard it's Okay. Mobile 1 price is high & most often scarce. Hardex is relatively cheaper to mobile 1

please Run a test, turn on the car without the AC and watch if the fan comes on. Ensure you wait and only give up if the temp goes above the half mark. Also ensure the temp sensor 2 which is at the base of the radiator is firmly connected.

If the fan comes on, buy a brand new radiator.

Okay. I'll check. However, I actually turned on the car without AC & waited for a while. The temp didn't go beyond half mark, but the engine & radiator will be hot, & radiator bringing out smoke. I'll be afraid it may affect something.

You said if the fans eventually come on, i go and buy new.

I'll run a test & also check the temp sensor as you said.

Thanks

Greetings to Ogas in the house.

Pls I need help. My 2008 Honda Pilot develop some problems.
The radiator fans stopped working unless I turn AC on. If the AC is on the fans will be working okay, but once AC is off, the fans will not spin.
This problem started when car AC worked on it. The AC man damaged the radiator when trying to remove compressor coil which he said spoiled. In order to remove the coil, he brought out the radiator & other parts. The opening that connect the gear oil hose was damaged. Without telling me he block the gear oil from entering the radiator. This resulted to car jerking & transmission overheating. It was discovered and the radiator was repaired and reconnected back properly.
Now, 2 days ago, I noticed that the fans are not working unless AC is On. If I on the engine without AC, the engine + radiator will be hot & bring out smoke as fan is not working. However, the temperature reading is still normal at middle.
I approached a Rewire at my area, after checking told me that the Thermostat has spoiled. That I've to REMOVE THE THERMOSTAT & RUN THE FAN DIRECTLY. But I refused because I've read that it's not advisable to remove Thermostat.
Now, for me to use the car, the AC must be On so that the fans can work.

Pls, what could be the problem & how to fix it?

Thanks

Strong possibility of gear issues when gear oil is drained(directly or indirectly) while engine is hot.

Check for damaged side engine seat, flush and refill gear with recommended ATF.

Thanks. I'll do that asap

First advice......use recommended transmission fluid for your Honda pilot, Honda Dw1. I think it's about 3k per litre. Then let's know about the update. Honda pilot is a very strong car. The best vehicle have used

Okay. That means I've to flush out the current fluid. I used Oando Dextron II. My mechanic recommended that when I changed the oil on October, 2020
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by easysunny(m): 8:22pm On Mar 30, 2021
Pls house help! My car jerks & vibrates with a sound when I load gear to Drive. The car is Honda Pilot 2008.
It all started after working on the AC. The AC man loosed the compressor in order to change the compressor coil as identified why the AC is not cooling.
However, while coupling back the hose & rest, I don't know how he fixed the transmission hose. As I start the engine, the transmission fluid poured out heavily & I quickly off the engine. I didn't notice any sign that very moment
But while driving home, I notice the car can't climb heel normally as it used before. Then I notice the car jerks while driving.
Now it jerks, vibrate & make a sound when I start the car & load the gear to D. I bought the ATF and topped it. The mechanic told me it's gauged.
However, yesterday as was driving, first I started smelling like something is burning. Next, i saw A/T Temp in the dash board. I pulled over.& switched off. I google the sign & it means the auto transmission is hot.
Then I called a mechanic, he checked & said the fluid is low. I bought another ATF and it was topped. The A/T Temp didn't come up again neither the smell.
However, the jerk & vibrate continues when I load the gear to D. Once it's parked, when I start the engine and load the gear to D, it jerks & vibrate. But if I put it in a R, it doesn't jerk. And while driving, it changes gear normally but I feel it.

Pls, any advice

You're quick to compare Nigeria with Saudi Arabia in terms of petrol price, but failed to compare minimum wages, Exchange rate, unemployment rate, Per capital income, infrastuctural development etc.
Here, citizens pay for everything through their sweat. No govt intervention.
Clueless govt. Who has done this to us? God help us, please

One last thing Sir:

Contrary to what one may ordinarily think, not using your car often adversely affects your car health. May even predispose to oil leaks due to cracked oil seals.

Try use your car often ooo smiley

Okay. Thanks for the advice.
Now, what do you suggest for me. Can I change to another brand other than mobil 1 but same 5W-20? Or must stick to the mobil 1?
I'm looking at the cost.
Any one to recommend to me?

Thanks
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by easysunny(m): 10:48pm On Jul 04, 2020
nas00:

Factors to consider:

1) With the Mobil 1 you presently use, does your engine oil level fall short of the full mark in-between oil changes? ... Meaning you usually have to top up the oil in-between.

2) Any leakage of engine oil from the engine (Is your engine block dry or usually soiled due to seepage of engine oil)?

3) What is the routine interval between your engine oil changes?

4) What is the average distance you cover before changing your engine oil (drain and refill).

5) What is the mileage of your car presently?

If you provide answers to these questions, we can reach a logical decision.

Cheers!

1. No top up in-between. Only changed the oil 6 months ago.

2. No leakage of engine oil from the engine.

3. Interval of 6 months. Only changed it once since I bought the car ie about 6 months ago.

4. About 3000 + miles.

5. The present mileage is 160,315.

I don't use the car often. This will be my 2nd change of oil since I bought tokunbo.
I just notice that blue like smoke comes out from the exhaust when I raise the accelerator. It doesn't happen before like that.
Then I checked the oil percentage and it's 30%.
That's the reason i intend to change the oil since it's over 6 months now i changed the oil.

What's your advice based on these information?

Thanks
