Factors to consider:

1) With the Mobil 1 you presently use, does your engine oil level fall short of the full mark in-between oil changes? ... Meaning you usually have to top up the oil in-between.

2) Any leakage of engine oil from the engine (Is your engine block dry or usually soiled due to seepage of engine oil)?

3) What is the routine interval between your engine oil changes?

4) What is the average distance you cover before changing your engine oil (drain and refill).

5) What is the mileage of your car presently?

If you provide answers to these questions, we can reach a logical decision.

Cheers!

1. No top up in-between. Only changed the oil 6 months ago.

2. No leakage of engine oil from the engine.

3. Interval of 6 months. Only changed it once since I bought the car ie about 6 months ago.

4. About 3000 + miles.

5. The present mileage is 160,315.

I don't use the car often. This will be my 2nd change of oil since I bought tokunbo.
I just notice that blue like smoke comes out from the exhaust when I raise the accelerator. It doesn't happen before like that.
Then I checked the oil percentage and it's 30%.
That's the reason i intend to change the oil since it's over 6 months now i changed the oil.

What's your advice based on these information?

Thanks

My advice on engine oil is, stick to reputable brands and get them from the right source.

A lot of bottled and sealed nonsense is being sold in our markets as synthetic oil.

Speaking from experience

Okay. Thanks

Pls house, I need advice.
1. Does changing brand of engine oil affects the engine?
I want to change my car engine oil. The car is Honda Pilot. I used Mobil 1 5W-20 Advance Full Synthetic motor oil, but intend to change to another brand with the same 5W-20 but relatively cheaper.
2. Or must I stick to Mobil 1that's currently in the engine?
3. Which genuine brand do you recommend? Cheaper than mobil 1.
4. The price and where to buy in Lagos?

Thanks

Pls house, I need help. My 2008 Honda Pilot is giving a whistling /cracking sound when I turn the steering. I noticed the sound last 2 weeks sunday when I wanted to go out. However throughout the working days I didn't use it. Again yesterday, Sunday, when I on the engine and turning the steering,to move, the sound came up. But when I'm driving on the road, I'll not notice the sound.
What could be the problem? I need your advice on what next.
Thanks

House, pls help. My car security alarm goes off once in a while for no reason. I've tried many ways as suggested online but to no avail.
I even took it to a rewirer and after checking, he couldn't see anything wrong. But once in a while it goes off. Sometimes, it may stay some days without going off. It happens both in the night and day.
But I noticed that it usually happens when weather is bad especially cold or if rain falls.
When it goes off, I'I'll open the door manually and it'll stop.
To avoid this, I always remove one battery head. Then put it back when I want to use the car and reset the radio and the rest all the time. It's frustrating.
Pls what else can I do to stop it finally. The car is 2008 Honda Pilot.
Thanks

My question is:

It's 3 months already, the 20w-50 is due for servicing, just do a normal drain & refill with the recommended 5w-20.. No need for any flushing

5w-20 full everywhere..
Autologic Gazzuzz Dru23 radautoworks or luvinghubby all on nairaland can hook you up with 5w-20 oil.
You car will be fine with either synthetic, synthetic blend or conventional oil.. Just make sure it 5w-20 or 5w-30

Most mobil falling stations usually have 5w-30, your engine will still be alright with it

Thank you all for the advice. I've drained and refillied with the 5w20 oil last Saturday. I've rest of mind now.

Refill with 5W-30 Synthetic blend engine oil, Honda Genuine most preferably.

Not 5w20 again? It's 5w20 that Honda recommends on the engine cap. I hope using the 5w30 won't cause problem just like 20w50 that I want flush out?
Pls enlighten me. I'm planning changing it this weekend.
Thanks

You still have time to change to manufacture reccomdation.. .. 20w50 is the worse oil you can use on any car .. I sell USA import Mobil 1 and 5w20 is available

Where's your shop located? And I hope you have the right oil filter too. What are the prices? I mean the 5w20 and oil filter.

Pls house, where can I get original 5w20 engine oil. That's the recommended oil for my Honda pilot 2008. I just bought it toks few months ago.
Unfortunately, I went to service the engine to one mobile filling station in Lagos and they convinced me to use mobile 20w50 against the recommended oil ie 5w20. That was on August this year. So the oil that's in the engine currently is 20w50. I'm afraid it may damage the engine based what I have read.
So, I want to revert to 5w20. Should go ahead and change it now or wait till next service?
Pls where can I get original 5w20 oil and do the service? How much is the price?
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by easysunny(m): 8:21pm On Oct 23, 2019
Hello house, Should I change my engine oil to the recommended oil - 5w20 now?
I bought the car, Honda pilot and took it to one of the mobile filling station at.Lagos to service the engine as indicated on the dashboard. That was on August this year.
There they convinced me to use mobile 1000 20w-50 even when I told them that it is 5w20 that is written on the engine cover. They said 5w20 is for American weather but in Nigeria this is what everyone is using expect I want to waste my money. And as a novice, I believed them and they used the 20w50 to service it.
But since i started following this forum, I've been reading that it's dangerous to go against the recommended oil. That if one want to have healthy engine, he/she should maintain the car recommended oil.
My question is:
1. Should I flush out the 20w50 oil that is currently in the engine now and change to the 5w20 as recommended? Or wait during the next service to change it? Any danger leaving it as it is now?
2. Where can I get the original 5w20 oil in Lagos and do the services? Also what's the current price? What I sensed later about that mobile filling station is that they didn't have the 5w20 in stock and so they convinced me to use the alternative instead.
Pls I need genuine advice and recommendation.
Thanks

Gurus in the house, pls help me with my 2008 Honda pilot. I bought the car last 2 months toks.
1. Check engine light is on the dash board and is constant. It was scanned and I was told that bank 1 & bank 2 sensors 02 are not functioning.and need to be replaced. What should I do? Do I have to change them or is there any other solution?

2. Again, the security alarm system goes off sometimes without anybody tampering with the car. When it goes off and I open the door manually, it'll stop. But after sometimes it goes off again. I then removed the battery head and it stopped. But today i went off again after one week that it have stopped. What could be the problem? And what should I do?

Thanks for your help.

My advice is to use the recommend oil 5w20 ...we have genuine engine oil dealer on the forum ..so getting 5w20 grade should not be an issue ..never use Mobil xhp 20w50 especially if it is not the recommend oil to use .. You could damage that engine in the long run ...for the check engine light issue, I will advice you to take your car to Radauto in Lekki.. It is better you spend the money now than spend double the amount down the line ....

Thanks. I will do that. Do I need to chsnge the mobile xhp 20w50 that is already there now? The oil was put in on last Sunday 25th august.
How can I get the contact of Radsuto and genuine engine oil dealers
Car Talk / Re: 40 Honda Dashboard Warning Lights And What They Mean by easysunny(m): 10:45pm On Aug 29, 2019
AutoJoshNG:

There are many warning lights that can illuminate on your Honda car dashboard. These warning lights can come on as a result of one issue or the other.

These dashboard warning lights illuminate to easily get the attention of the driver about something not being right in the car.

The colour of the warning light that comes up on your Honda dashboard could be green, yellow or red.

If you see something green, it’s usually an on or off indicator light, such as your cruise control. The indicator is simply there to remind you that a system is on so that if you should be turning it off, you’ll remember.

The yellow dashboard warning lights represent issues that could get dangerous soon. These lights typically mean a system, or monitoring of the system, has malfunctioned. Technically speaking, low fuel or low tire pressure are warnings that could lead to something much worse if left unchecked, but they don’t indicate an issue that would make your vehicle inoperable.

A red warning light often indicates a serious condition. It is not all of them that mean there is a serious malfunction. Something like seat belt reminder means no harm to your car. Others, like the high-temperature warning, can mean your vehicle will likely have a catastrophic failure if you continue driving.

Below are the warning lights you can see on your Honda dashboard.

The Check engine sign is.constantly show on my dashboard after servicing. The engine oil wss refillied and filter replaced. However, the engine oil used was Mobile super XHP 20W-50 as against the ecommended oil which is SAE 50-20W. Reason being that the recommended oil is not available in Nigeria.
Pls what should I do to resolve the check engine sign on the dashboard. How serious is it? The car is Honda Pilot and just arrived as tokunbo.

Deadlock:

I'm from Umuida too,... and precisely from Umuonu in Igbo Eze North LGA,... I want to make it clear to all here that the man Ayogu Eze cannot and have NEVER won a free and fair election even in his hometown of Enugu Ezike,.. He's one hell of a guy that one can only imagine what his problems are.
He has no political value as it stands now both in his ward, council, LGA or the Enugu North Senatorial District.
And let me say,... I'm for Ugwuanyi and Sai Baba,... Until I see a more credible option ,...not all with all the miscreants vying for PDP candidacy now,..

As far as Enugu Ezike politics is concern, his political career is dead and buried. I don't count him again as a political figure we've in Enugu Ezike.
APC should not rejoice for this one, abeg.
