Even dangote newly commissioned Tomato Processing Factory suspended operation, while monitoring economic improvement. The country is in recession and capital importation is low. These companies needs to be reasonable and considerate.

If Chinese businesses/investors are trooping in and you are rushing out. Then, I doubt the viability of Erisco long-term plans.

I think you failed to read the report before commenting. The issue is unfavourable policies towards Nigerian own companies in-favour of foreign ones. I speak with experience having faced similar situation of unfavourable government policies towards Nigerian companies.

This is really a sad news

organicfoods:
Thanks for the compliment... I strive everyday to empty myself off the experience and knowledge I am fortunate to have come across... Some how everyday it tends to increase hundred folds.

On training, we are bringing in some NGOs on board that will professionally ground us from training to marketing of organic produce, you must agree with me it does take time. I still however have a lot of Nairalander coming to see our demonstration farm in Ibadan and getting some kind of mentorship on their farms as they practice. We also offer organic materials like liquid fertilizer, organic pesticides and Beneficiary microorganisms to tackle diseases... And of course consultation for farms.

Thanks for your feedback and for yet another great post. I will explore the option of visit to your farm like other nairalander. How can i reach you?

@organicfood, i've been following you for quite sometime on Nairaland, i just want to say thanks for your comments, advice, tips and encouragement in this agro sector. And the right up above has been good wealth of information that will help me alot.

I just want to ask, do you offer some kind of training (practical training by seeing you do it live) on organic farming just like jethro2 does, where one can learn from you about organic farming?

@jethro2, thanks for your time and efforts in educating and encouring us about Agrobiz and specifically Tomato farming. I have been glued to my screen for the past 3 hours reading every thing from page to page. I just want to ask, while not trying to bring down the importance and quality of this training (if it isn't important, i wouldn't be commenting), isn't 1 month too long a time for this training a training?

I think maybe you need to think of other modalities of delivering this training using available modern day tools and technologies (Internet training platform or Lond Distance Video Training DVD - someone suggested this already) or create a fast track version of maybe 1 week. As a start-up business owner and also someone still on a paid job, pending the time my business have a stable base, a husband and a father, i don't see myself leaving for a class room for 1 month.

I think others who may be interested in this training may relate to few or all my point above which makes taking one full months off for the training difficult but may be able to take a week off for the training.

I guess i commented too soon without getting to the end of the page to see latest development, sorry about that jethro2. i see you now have a 1 week training option.
