I appreciate this forum very much, you are doing a great job and keep it up. I cannot say that I dis not gain a thing or two from here and I got my visa today at the Lagos embassy. My interview was for 7:30am, here it is:
Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning, what are you going to do in the US?
Me: I am going for my Masters in Business Administration at the University of xxxxxxxxx
VO: Why MBA?
Me: It fits my career goal
VO: Did u apply to other schools?
Me: Yes, I did
VO: Which schools?
Me: I named the 3 other schools
VO: Did u write the GRE?
Me: Yes
VO: What were your scores?
ME: I mixed up the scores for the verbal and quantitative but quickly corrected it and told him.
VO: Where do u work?
Me: I work with ......I said the abbreviation of my coy and quickly said the full name of my coy cos I wasn't sure if he would be able to relate with that.
VO: How long have you been there?
Me: 5yrs an 4months
VO: What is your role? What do you do there?
Me: I am in Risk Mgt, and said specifically what area of risk mgt i was working in
VO: What will the MBA do for you?
Me: The MBA will help me take up mgt roles/positions especially in Risk Mgt.
VO: Who is sponsoring you?
Me: My Aunt
Vo: hat does your aunt do?
Me: She imports .........and sells them in both wholesale and retail
VO: ....starts tearing the green slip and says ........ you are good to go since the 30day period is in your favour. You will go to Lekki on Monday to collect your visa. Thank you.
Me: Thank you, excited......starts thinking of lie to tell at the office for coming in an hour late. ........not yet time to apply for my study leave.....till i have my passport back!

It was pretty short (about 3 mins) as I told God I wanted the previous day and out of my over 20 documents, only 2 were requested by the VO.
I was at the Lagos embassy and about 4 VOs were interviewing:the African-American on Counter 1,one white guy on 2,one elderly guy on 3, and one other guy on the last counter.
The guy on C2 refused all the women that came for visiting(Did he think they were pregnant undecided). Anyway my token number was 174 and when i saw 173 on C2, I don dey fear but I don dey prepare my mind for a difficult interview even though I was sure I would make it.Suddenly C1 flashed 174 and I walked up to him on jelly legs. It seemed I had forgotten everything I had rehearsed. Anyway....
The Interview
Me: Good morning
VO: Pass your documents, please.
Me: I passed them. He scrutinized them and at the same time was looking at my face. Maybe he dey look this small boi wey dey go do PhD. huh
VO: Did you take the GRE?
Me: Yes I took it (I passed him my scores).
VO: Do you have your transcript?
Me: Yes, I do. I pass am.
VO: Looked at my transcript and asked 'What is ecology?' I guess this question came up because I studied Botany and I am going for a PhD in Ecology.
Me: I don already dey blow answer afterall na my turf na, but he stopped me and asked:
VO: What is the difference between Botany and Ecology?
Me: Botany is basically the study of plants while Ecology is the study of plants in their environment..both biotic and abiotic. Short like that, I no sabi talk too much wink
VO: So what will this degree do for you?
Me: Well, I already work here as a ...... so it will enable me get promoted more rapidly in my place of work.
As I was answering the last question He was already tearing the green ticket.
VO: Alright, I am granting you your Visa, go and collect it on Wednesday at Ikeja.
Me: In a small voice..thank you. I was trying to hide a smile but I was not successful. grin

When you say you passed the documents, what documents are you referring to? I suppose the following:
- International Passport
- DS-160
- SEVIS Payment Receipt
- MSV Payment Receipt
- Passport photographs
- I-20

Please let me know what other documents qualify for the documents to pass on to them when they ask for it.

But Kpolli, do you not think that this is rather confusing? What they will give you should affect the real thing that you should fill on the form. I need the information that is required to be filled on the form to avoid an form of uncertainty or intention to overstay.

Therefore, duration or length of stay= 36 months(according to your I-20)

For accommodation, the answer is 'your school address on your I-20' since you do not have a place yet.

24months? Where did that come from? I-20 is 36months and program is 22momths but you have said 24months, I do not understand the relationship.

My I-20 has the normal length of study is 36months while my program structure says 22months, which one do I go with?

Also, I do not have accommodation yet and there is a section for where you will be staying in the US. What do I fill in this section?

They could have asked you all that for so many reasons, God knows why, but one thing u should bear in mind is that you do not have to be desperate or appear desperate. They could have asked to know your communication or just to know how resposible you can be or the resposibility that lies on you and of course that also will tell them your level of hard workand dedication to work.
My ultimate advice is this, Do Not let Someone Discourage You!!! Do not tell lies no matter the situation you find yourself in, why?, Because the truth shall set you free.
You have to encourage yourself and believe that you will get that job. You are not the only person from a poor home, We all are.

for kpmg, you should be prepared to write some short essays and solve basic maths and english. its just time choking so you really have to work against time.
