This is nonsensical.

This is your idea of SHINING in Europe players doing the basics in the most obscure and poor quality leagues in Europe .

If I were to be celebrating and talking about all the Nigerian origin players in the national conference the English 5th tier.

You would be up in arm's doing somersaults and giving a tirade of non stop derogatory abuse. You and quite a few others.

Nonsensical you said? Wahala no dey finish.......
This kind of comment baffles me so much. TheSupernerd I know usually gives updates about players of Nigerian origin in Europe even including the shitty leagues (according to some people). He just dropped one of such updates and all you can do is to say the thrash you just dropped. Kwagh chier mo iyol...
Oya go ahead and drop your own updates as well and mention all those he did not mention otherwise remain silent.
The question is didn't those player perform well in there respective leagues? What is the offense here..?? Or should they not be acknowledged/celebrated until they move to bigger leagues Kai, tom ngee

'Iwobi Is Playing Like Messi' - Fans Hail Versatile Everton Winger After Display Vs Chelsea
Chelsea's long unbeaten streak, seventeen in all competitions, finally came to an end after losing 1-0 to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday night.

Having played as a makeshift wing-back in his last three matches for the Toffees, manager Carlo Ancelotti deployed the Nigeria international in a more familiar position against Chelsea, playing him as a right-sided midfielder on the flank.

A rare Edouard Mendy error proved costly; Dominic Calvert-Lewin was fouled by the Senegalese and Gylfi Sigurdsson converted from the spot midway through the first half.

Chelsea had their moments to get something from the game but hit the woodwork in each half.

Despite the change in position, Iwobi continued his good form in recent weeks with an eye-catching performance against Chelsea and fans sang his praises during the game .

Here's what they have been saying on Twitter about the Everton number 17:

@Eben_Ik : "You see that ancelotti is smart Using iwobi brilliantly in this game, knows chillwell is usually out of position, so just put iwobi there to take advantage".

@ajstylesmusic : "Iwobi causing problems".

@BigHops22 : "Alex Iwobi has been fantastic".

@dxvin3 : "Iwobi's been balling for weeks".

@Rellaizy : "Iwobi is playing like Messi against us, to think I've a crush on him I nor crush again."

@LobosPowerHour : "Something I never thought I would say, I'm starting to like Alex Iwobi"

@Bluefanatic__ : "Every time Iwobi faces Chelsea he turns Prime Messi.."

@seyii_ayeni : "See as iwobi don turn Messi for Chelsea he".

@chrisharry4 : "Iwobi been sound can't fault him. Looks dangerous".

Chelsea Owner Abramovich Makes Offer For Mikel Obi To Join Chelsea Coaching Crew

Former captain of the senior national team of Nigeria John Obi Mikel has been offered a coaching role at English Premier League side Chelsea according to his Nigerian representative Babawo Mohammed.
Mikel is presently playing for Turkish side Trabzonspor who are battling for the league title but his future outside the pitch appears to have been settled following the offer of a chance to join the coaching set up at his former club Chelsea.

Owner of Chelsea Roman Abramovich told the 33 year old that he will get a chance to start his managerial career at the club once he calls it quit with football as reward for his ten and half years service to the club.

” For now Mikel is pushing to win the league with Trabzonspor but in the future he will return to Chelsea as a coach maybe with the youth team or as one of the assistants of the first team. That promise was made to him by Abramovich”, Babawo told Owngoalnigeri.com.
” At the end of his career he will do his coaching badge and join Chelsea. It’s a reward for his ten and half year stay at the club. A lot of former Chelsea players are part of the team now base on same thing that will bring Mikel back after his career”.

At the moment all of the backroom staff of head coach of Chelsea Frank Lampard are all former players of the club and even the youth teams of Chelsea is also coached by ex players of the team.

Mikel’s teammate Petr Cech is a director at the club and the club failed in their bid to lure the duo of Didier Drogba and Claude Makalele to join Lampard when he was appointed coach in the summer.

Rohr List Iheanacho In Super Eagles List For Qualifier Games In March, Dessers In, Olayinka Dropped
February 17, 202003

Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has extended an invitation to in form Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho for the Super Eagles upcoming games in March, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

The coach has been impressed with Iheanacho’s improvement the past two months and has decided to hand a recall to the forward who was dropped from the squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Iheanacho was called up for the friendly game against Ukraine which ended in a 2-2 draw but he didn’t get to play as he arrived Kiev, the venue of the game late due to administrative issues and logistic issues.

Belgian-Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers has also been rewarded for his fine form this season for Heracles Almelo with a first time call up to the senior national team of Nigeria. He presently has 17 goals and 6 assists from 25 games this season.

Their invitation comes at the expense of Peter Olayinka of Slavia Prague who hasn’t matched the same height that led to his invitation for previous games of the team as his club form has dwindled.

Rohr will make the list public in the first week of March for the Super Eagles AFCON 2021 Qualifiers games against Sierra Leone where they will be hoping to pick their third win in a row to book a place in the tournament.

Unfortunately there's no time but they have promised to start the case afresh tomorrow (the program starts 7:40am - 10:00am monday-friday).....
Its going to be a full fledged case, so many people are going to be invited. The ordinary President also promised to bring CAF & FIFA into the case.
Please lets get tuned and know what is really going on in the glass house.

Super Eagles Duo Star In League Cup Win For Bordeaux
Published: October 30, 2019

Super Eagles Duo Star In League Cup Win For BordeauxSuper Eagles attackers, Joshua Maja and Samuel Kalu combined brilliantly for their Ligue 1 club Bordeaux in a French Coupe De La Ligue victory over Dijon on Tuesday evening.

With the game just eight minutes old at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique, Samuel set up his compatriot with an in swinging cross from the right channel which the striker glanced home for the opener.

It was Maja's second goal in all competitions this season, and his first since scoring in a 1-1 draw against Montpellier back in August.

The result ensured Paulo Sousa's team ended their two-game winless run as they prepare to take on Nantes in their crucial topflight game on Sunday.

Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr will undoubtedly be pleased with such decisive and telepathic combination between the two even as he prepares his squad list for next month's AFCON qualifiers.

Oga, let's stop all these tribal accusations.

I don't think you guys know the weight of responsibility on these coaches. Why would they want to chose their tribes men as players at the expense of their jobs? Think about that.

Even though some of us expect a kind of balance in the ethnic composition of our national teams, sometimes they are balanced and at other times they are not.

Yes, a coach might chose a couple of players based on certain sentiments which could be ethnic, religious, political, economic etc. But be rest assured that the majority of players especially the key men in the team will be selected based on merit.

For those accusing Manu of ethnic or religious biase look at his 2013 team. Is it not the team that produced likes of Iheanacho, Nwakali, Mathew, Ndidi, Ezeh, Nwobodo, Obasi, Uzoho, Okon, Just from off my head.

How can we come in 2019 and accuse same man of ethnic or regional biase?

And even for those accusing Amuneke of same in 2015, things like this happen where most of the best players that emerge will just spring up from a certain region which was the case in 2015 and now in 2019.

Do you know there was no Yoruba player in Fani Amun's 1993 Golden Eaglets team?

Do you also know there were not more than one or two Igbos in Yemi Tela's 2007 Golden Eaglets?

But sometimes too, we have a mix of ethnicities like the John Obu's era of U17 and U20s.

Things like these happen. It switches sides and then balances again. But the most important thing is that they are all representing Nigeria and we have to support every of our teams irrespective of the ethnic composition.

Your post just made so much sense and I think we all should take a cue from here and move on. We can't keep wallowing in this unhealthy Ethnic discussion. Las las we all have one common goal. Let's discuss the way forward for the team.

What annoyed me most in the match yesterday was the long passes. Those passes were either over hit or misplaced yet they kept doing that for a very large part of the game especially the first half. You only do long passes if the opponent is better with the ball possession. They should pass the ball and work their way to the opponent goal post. Those long passes were wasted and no single goal came out of it. The same thing was experienced in the first match.

They should avoid show boating... Many times they held onto the ball for too long trying to force their way in when it was better to pass..... That what's makes it teamwork. They should learn to play more together than depending on solo efforts.

They also need to make use of the wings so much. With their pace and energy they should resort to wing play especially when the middle is tough to penetrate.

Let the coach curb those excesses and they will be good to go.

CD Leganes Interim Coach Gives Reasons Why Omeruo Was Dropped From Matchday

Kenneth Omeruo was surprisingly dropped from CD Leganes matchday squaSquad d when they faced RCD Mallorca on Saturday though the Nigeria international was pictured undergoing training with his teammates a day before the meeting at Municipal de Butarque.

Leganes interim manager Luis Cembranos lined up with two central defenders in Dimitrios Siovas and Unai Bustinza, a departure from the tactics of ex-coach Mauricio Pellegrino, who usually played with three center backs.

Explaining why Omeruo and Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri were not in the squad vs Mallorca, Cembranos told reporters post-match : ''I have chosen the best eighteen. It wasn't just the physical, the technical and the tactical. It was also the mental.

''I have tried to select the best to compete and suffer today, to be closer to getting a victory.

“We have taken a step forward, convincing ourselves, believing a little more in what we are doing. It is an important turning point to continue growing as a team. Let's see where we get.''

Siovas suffered an injury against Mallorca and it remains to be seen if Chidozie Awaziem, who came off the bench to replace the Greek defender in the last game, will be picked over Omeruo when Leganes face Real Madrid on Wednesday.

'He Reminds Me Of Sunday Oliseh' - Some Fans Hail Mikel After Starring Against Arsenal
Published: October 25, 2019

'He Reminds Me Of Sunday Oliseh' - Some Fans Hail Mikel After Starring Against Arsenal Vitória de Guimaraes made life difficult for Arsenal in their Europa League clash on Thursday night but the Premier League side managed to beat the Portuguese club 3-2.

The visitors were 2-1 up at the break with Marcus Edwards and Bruno Duarte scoring in the 9th and 27th minute respectively while exciting Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli found the net for the Gunners in the 32nd minute.

Arsenal avoided disaster when second half substitute Nicolas Pépé netted two sensational free-kicks to earn Unai Emery's three points.

Nigeria international Mikel Agu was one of the key players for Vitória de Guimaraes, who were on the brink of causing an upset.

Mikel can take solace in the fact that he held his own against Arsenal midfielders Matteo Guendouzi, Daniel Ceballos and Lucas Torreira and, of course, there was nothing he could do to prevent Pepe from scoring the two goals.

Some fans were delighted with the performance of the Vitória de Guimaraes number 24 and took to Twitter to share their thoughts :

@War_ina_babylon : ''Vitoria Guimarubbish at holding on to a lead. Silly mistakes cost them. Love Mikel Agu's general play. Seems like a natural Central Defender to me. Movement was fantastic. Beautiful to watch.''

@alexqueiros : ''Tapsoba and Mikel Agu are bossing the defence and midfield.''

@Buchi_smallzy : ''Mikel Agu with an important clearance tho! He’s having a good game''.

@Samdoe22 : ''Mikel Agu masterclass against Arsenal.''

@tedym1 : ''Nice watching Mikel Agu yesterday against Arsenal. He reminds me so much of Sunday Oliseh except Oliseh's passing range is much better''.

@Bra_Ferron : ''Special mention for the great game that Mikel Agu, Davidson, Poha, Tapsoba and Venancio had. The Vitória is a team to follow...''

@nonsooka4 : ''Mikel Agu bossing the middle''.

QPR Coach Tells Rohr What Ebere Eze Will Add To Super Eagles – He Has Lots Of Technical Abilities

As coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr continue to monitor the progress of QPR midfielder Ebere Eze ahead of a potential call up to the team, coach of QPR Mark Warburton has spoken about the qualities of the 21 year old.
Eze scored twice from the spot to hand QPR a 3-1 win away to Hull City yesterday in the English Championship and Warburton was full of praise for the England U21 midfielder who has voiced out his readiness to represent Nigeria if called up.
“Ebere is a very, very talented young player. There is loads of work for him to do and loads of potential for him to still discover. He’s a good player and you saw his quality, his character and his desire to be a better player today [on Saturday]. He’s a very talented individual and he has a very big future ahead of him.”
Warburton added: “He’s a powerful athlete and he can go left or right. He looks to get on the ball, his awareness is good and he has lots of technical ability. Like all young players, he has to work hard because this can be a spiteful game if you don’t work hard.
“He’s a pleasure to work with day-in, day-out, as are Ilias, Brighty, Dom Ball, Ryan Manning; there are a number of very good young players in our squad. We have to keep working with them.”
Already he has trained with the Super Eagles but he is yet to be called up since that happened two years ago. That has however not affected his desire to represent Nigeria despite many suggesting he could be an option for England in few years time.
As reported by Owngoalnigeria.com, Rohr initially thought he needed international clearance which usually take years before it’s approved by FIFA but the coach was later informed that he only played in friendly games for England, meaning it won’t take long to get his papers.
For now he is in contention to make the Super Eagles squad for the next round of international games, where they will play against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively in the race to be at the 2020 Africa Cup of Nations.

No Etebo, No Problem – How Rohr Lined Up Eagles Midfield During Training Ahead Of Brazil Friendly

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are presently having their first full training session ahead of Sunday friendly game against Brazil under the watchful eyes of the technical crew of the team led by coach Gernot Rohr, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Already the coach has worked out a way to make up for the absence of Oghenekaro Etebo who pulled out of the game due to an injury yesterday bringing to four the number of players who have pulled out of the game.
Just like it was in the case of Ola Aina, Rohr didn’t replace Etebo unlike the duo of Samuel Kalu and Kenneth Omeruo who were replaced by Viv Solomon-Otabor and Tyronne Ebuehi respectively.
In the ongoing training session, Rohr lined up the trio of Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and Joe Aribo as his midfield three for one team and later replaced Aribo with newly called up Ramon Azeez as he bid to find the right mix in the absence of Etebo.
For now it’s a straight fight between Azeez and Aribo for the spot of Etebo with Aribo presently favoured to get the nod ahead of the Granada man who is staging a return to the team after a five years absence.

Jamilu Collins' LB position needs an upgrade as soon as possible.

The Lad is decent but decency is not enough for the level the Super Eagles are aspiring to walk into in this new era.

Collins need to step up his game and he needs seriously bad ass competition to be pushed to his limits and beyond.

I really don't understand what happened to Jamilu Collins yesterday, I expected fire power from him offensively.. He was a strong attacking outlet during the qualifier against Libya & at AFCON. Defensively too he's been better bar yesterday.

I don't want him sacked.... at least not anymore (or rather not for now). I just need him to please improve in some details as regards utilising the best or close to the best this team has to offer.

It is true that Rohr is part of the reason we are in this new dawn. I commend and appreciate him for bringing us this far and dragging us up from the deep dark wells of Post-2014 to 2016.

Rohr has brought in the materials for the masterpiece. Now I hope he can build it well. This new era is exciting and must not be laid to waste.

I wonder what the NFF are doing to improve this man tactically... Its very clear for all to see that this man Gernot Rohr needs help. I think they should send him for some courses and also get him a very sound technical assistant, as the brain behind many coaches successes is their technical assistants (e.g Akpala ==> Keshi & Nduka Ugbade ==>Manu Garba).
If we must really consummate the "dawn of the new era" the NFF must wake up and act ASAP. We can't keep doing the same things and expect different/better results.

Iheanacho Pushing For Loan Move Before The End Of The European Transfer Window

Nigeria international forward Kelechi Iheanacho is eager to secure a loan move away from English Premier League side Leicester City before the end of the European transfer window, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

Loading...
Iheanacho is yet to play a game this season despite impressing in pre season with coach Brendan Rodgers relegating him to the position of third choice striker behind the duo of Jamie Vardy and new signing Ayoze Perez.

Although he is guarantee to lead the attack of the team in Cup games this season, Iheanacho is however keen on regular game time hence want to move to where he will get games to help him rediscover his form.

Leicester City are not in any particular rush to allow him leave at least for now as he is part of the squad and his departure wil leave them a striker short in a key position where they struggle last season.

Teams in France, Spain and Germany are reported to have approached his camp but they are finding it difficult to convince Leicester City to let him leave before the end of the ongoing transfer window in Europe.

How on earth do you want to say those lads are over age? if they are over age then it means the Moroccan team is under age abi? See Moroccan No. 14.

After our world cup ouster, I was completely demoralized by our team's performance to the extent I lost interest in the whole tournament.
You can imagine that the first game I watched since then was the Argentina Vs France and I was glad as the hunter was now hunted grin. I even stopped visiting this thread for some time.
However, I appreciate you guys who have stayed on as the analysis & banter continues..... For as many that have stayed on, its an indication that we still have the future to contend with and now is the time. Let NFF, coach players and all involved go back to the drawing board.
The major positive I still hold in mind is the fact that we have many young players (who have longer playing days) in the team and more are to come who will be allowed to gel for some time. We have 2 AFCON in 2019 & 2021 to prove our mettle prior to 2022 WC.
The greatest revelation for us is UZOHO. Prior to the WC, the goalkeeping dept was everyone's concern, however, as the tourney began, we never had a course to regret for fielding a young & inexperienced keeper like him. Rather, the heat was more in other departments. I can't discredit the quality of other keepers though, but we are looking more at the future as Rohr used to say that his team is rather for 2022.
On Rohr, he should be more open to risk taking. He is too reserved as a lot kept saying. I BELIEVE WE CAN STILL BE GREAT.
Good bless super eagles, God bless Nairalanders, God bless Nigerians.

We can only win our next match playing 352
Was thinking he was gonna adapt to it in d second half. He should henceforth play omerou, ekong & balogun as 3 @ d back. Ndidi Mikel & iwobi @ d midfield (iwobi as ten, Mikel should support ndidi at blocking 4 to protect d back 3). Y ebuehi plays right wing back & moses plays left wing back. Nwankwo & iheanacho should play alternately upfront like dey did against Argentina in d friendly.

my problem with Rohr is that he is too stiff necked for my liking
He doesn't want to change what he is already used to
How long will it take him to know that
352 is our ideal formation

Kelechi (Iheanacho) has some lowkey songs. I’d probably have Ezenwa on the chorus or something like that.

Favourite Okocha goal?

It has to be against Middlesbrough. He bent it in. I was with dad that day and it was amazing.

Best dressed: you or Aubameyang?

I believe I’m the best dressed. He’s a bit too flash. I don’t really like too much flash.

Weirdest item teammate has brought to camp?

Kelechi actually brought a microwave when we were in London, of all things. But I found it useful because he was in my room and we could warm up our food.

Barcelona or Real Madrid on FIFA 18?

Barcelona.

Best and worst roommates?

Both have to be Kelechi. He has this tendency to be late and I don’t like to leave him behind because we’re roommates and I feel we’re in this together. But at the same time he’s fun, he’s always enjoyment. He’s the best and the worst at the same time.

Most difficult dance move?

Shaku shaku. I’m still learning it and I have to learn it before the World Cup by force. I’m still learning the footwork.

Russia 2018 Final clock countdown: 8 hours 47 mins to go

From Iwobi`s response on most difficult dance move i think shaku shaku is going to be their dance step for goal celebration. Who else can see so?

I agree completely.

What i wanted to convey is the same principle "Jump rate" but should have added "All things being Equal"

Onazi na short man no matter his jump rate which is not even exceptional, however, Ndidi, Ighalo and Omeruoare not taller than Ogu but looking at thier physical make up , agility etc I would bet they have a higher jump rate than the very heavy Ogu.

That was the point i was making and as a result Ogu's height may not give us any advantage as such, particularly defending set pieces.

Is Agu that Heavy & Slow as people here always put it? Or is it because of his body mass that a lot of people think so? I just wanna know because the coach may have seen and known him better than we do, and as such trusts his ability

My line-up for Czech

Uzoho
Ebuehi
Idowu
Balogun
Ekong
Omeruo
Etebo
Ndidi
Mikel
Iwobi
Victor Moses

Not bad at all... potentially the best for now.
My issue is Ndidi starting as he's just returning from injury. I hope he won't be match rusty? Otherwise John Ogu should start and be subbed by Ndidi. What do you think?

Counter attack is negative football. I feel cheated when I hear or read this team being described as a counter attacking team. Counter attack means you are attacked first and you wait to hit back. If I'm a coach I will never play this kind of game. If you pass me, you pass me but I go attack oo, I will attack. Once you have a good midfield and defence why wait to be attacked before you attack?

Maybe u don't understand counter attack very well.
For sure your opponent will always launch attacks on you but not every of their attack will succeed. You are just taking advantage of their failed attack to punish them.
This doesn't mean you always wait to be attacked first.
In as much as they describe the current SE as a "counter attacking team" how many goals have they scored from counters out of 12 goals during WCQ? This means they don't depend on counters but wud exploit such opportunity as it comes.

That is because he has lost form ,SIGNIFICANTLY! I was one of those that saw the guy's diminishing form very early but according to Sir. Icons4 experience is everything even if the player can barely complete a simple pass. Breeze don blow fowl yansh don open.

Onazi has been trash for a very long time but that leadership position he has kept him in the team. It will even be suicidal to give him another chance because his confidence is currently in the gutter

Yes, Onazi has been trash for so long and I think the situation used to be like we don't have a choice than just keeping him in the team. But from the look of things, it will be very easy easing Onazi out of the SE post Russia because we will have a choice by then (in fact better choices sef) due to the emergence of exciting talents...
Am not in any discrediting his exploits for the team in the past, however, "I get am before no be property"

Concerning the England Friendly, I think the main aim of playing friendly matches was achieved.
The aim is to see how prepared you are, but it has been crystal clear that we still have so much work to do.
In spite of the defeat what gladdens my heart is the midfield combo of Joel-Onazi; how the duo have been exposed. It is evident that we cannot depend on the duo and this will inform Rohr's decision going forward. See how much playing time Rohr has given Joel since rejoining the team hoping he can get it right.
Another puzzle that this match solved is IWOBI's Midfield role which many people have advocated for on this thread. In as much as he does well as a winger, I think he will do even better in the midfield.... His creativity is top notch. Apart from Mikel, I think Iwobi is next in terms of creativity (I stand to be corrected)

Bottom line:
Joel - Onazi combination is bullshit
Iwobi more essential in midfield

Guys I have been thinking about this: the "NAIJA'' written on our kit.....
For it to be used on a global stage, does it means NAIJA (instead of NIGERIA) is formally acceptable or what?? I just need some clarifications.

If you were the goalkeeper coach, will you look at that 2nd goal and tell him, he did well?

inversely, if you were the goalkeeper coach will you look at his general performance and tell him he has done so woefully?

I bet in your empty skull now,you think you have said something meaningful. So,a senator who wants to protest an alleged ill treatment, has the right to hire thugs to go into the senate and disrupt the sitting and cart away the mace? And it makes a lot of sense to you? Go and look for your brain wherever you left it,clean it up and put it to use. Walking with an empty skull wouldn't do you any good.

My friend can you reason meaningful for once?
Nobody is supporting the senate invasion, however the court ruling is in respect of the the matter that is before the court. If you were the Judge will you now withhold justice on the case that was brought before the court simply because the man was alleged of senate invasion (which no suit has been filed)?
