@Eke40seven..... the questions are much but i will try to answer them.

1. I choose to skip this part for private reasons
2. German education and Nigerian education are way different. Here you have to do a lot of research and study to know it, not just to pass exams. Going for lecture is not compulsory except in some lectures that require participation to be awarded marks.
The classrooms are like banking halls and the lecturers are very open minded and helpful. They don't need you to quote what is in your handout before u pass, Having an idea is enough to get your marks. There is NO COPY AND PASTE. They will find out and it can lead to your de-registration from school.
Most master courses usually require 90 credits with 3 chances to rewrite any failed course.
An average master takes 2yrs but the truth is you can do it for 5yrs if u like, As long as u have the finance to extend your visa, that's the scope some guys use to extend their stay. (u didn't hear it from me).

3. There are challenges like, sometimes it is difficult to understand the professor because of the way they speak their English. They don't know all the words in English and sometimes use the wrong words to confuse u.
Some German students can be rude at times. It is easier to get along with the International students as u are all in the same shoes.
Sometimes u sit in some lectures and don't understand anything cos what they teach is too high for your level and u begin to wonder how you got your BSc.
The German students are very private and would never ask u and don't expect u to ask them. For the most part, they are nice and willing to help.
Combining work with study is difficult but possible. Some companies don't care if u are writing exams, if u are not there when they need u, they will fire u.

4. There are many international students here but mostly exchange students from European countries. Not so many Nigerian students.
Sometimes it is even difficult to find Nigerian students but u will always know them with the way they behave.
There are 3 types of Naija students:
(a) The ones who form and live fake live speaking like Americans and forming fresh. All their friends are white and when they get introduced to other Nigerians, they start to act like they met Ebola. Yet you'd be surprised to see them in the midnight doing the same job u do.
(b) The ones that are just liberal and go with whatever comes
(c) The ones that are soaked in Naija way, rapping pidgin, moving only with Nigerians, always reminding u to hustle and save, quarelling and arguing, make u feel at home etc...
If u are a Newbie, most of ur friends will be other foreign/exchange students but when they return to their countries, you will be lonely.

5. Integration at first was hard. I always got lost on the road, too many papers to sign, accomodation, boredom, job seeking, language barrier, people staring at you...etc
I got accomodation easily by joining Facebook pages and contacting people before i came. I spent money unnecessarily eating out and going to places because i was bored and didn't have many friends.
Germans are not racist, but they are very shy and would never talk to u first. That is the way they are to everyone and people mistake it for racism. Some Germans are so obsessed with Americans and when they see a goodlooking black guy speaking English, the first thing they ask u is are you American? when u say African they show a bit of disappointed but quickly get friendly.

6. To prospective Naija students, It is worth it. Germany is a dream come true and everything works. U can travel anywhere u want to. U can go to London for a weekend with a flight as cheap as 50 euros and visa is very easy. American visa if applied for is 2yrs gbam!!! Canadian visa is like making eba. As long as u have the finance, your residence card and good purpose of visit.
Germany is very safe and the police is efficient. U dare not talk to people anyhow or get into a fight. If anyone calls the police on you, it goes into your file and will affect u even in 20yrs to come.
There are jobs, whether language or not but u must swallow your pride and do what others are doing.
It is getting cold now so buy sweaters and pull overs with jeans. Don't bother buying many shoes as it will soon be winter and u won't wear them.
When u come here, mind who u tell your life story to. Not everyone is your friend. Apply to as many schools as possible and don't loose hope. I got rejected by 13 schools and passed the last minute.
If u are a Christian, your best bet here would be to join a church. I tell u they can really help. If I can speak the language fluently, I'll never live in anywhere else than Germany.

Shoutout to oga Godson, that guy is a good guy.
I am tired of typing. hope my 2 spoons help.

The fact that you answer questions don't make you a god over anyone. Many people have passed on knowledge on this thread which you benefited from and you have taken up from where they stopped.
Some of you need to learn to be humble. It doesn't cost anything to be polite and it is a privilege to be able to help someone because they will never forget how you made them feel.

Those of you asking the questions need to realise that no one is paid for answering you. Don't be quick to respond to harsh words or insult anyone. There are people willing to answer even the most funny questions because they know everyone's level of intelligence is not the same.
Even the Germans don't all have machine brains. When you insult anyone, people place a harsh tag on u and you won't be taken seriously.

If you have any questions regarding Germany, life, education system, job, survival etc... I will be glad to answer them. I will not just be posting what I was not asked as I am not a type-writer (for those of u saying I don't respond).

Pls don't get in your feelings, it is just social media.

Was ur university changed after u collected ur visa or before?

The name of the University is usually indicated on the visa. The embassy can't change it after issuing visa, probably before but u can after u arrive Germany.

Please guys, I'm not in competition with anyone and there is no award for answering questions on this thread. At this stage of my life, I can decide not to do anything I don't want to. I learned from this thread and I'm giving back by the grace of God.
For every question I have asked and for every response I have given, I have done with love, I have done from my heart and I've done by the grace of God. That's why even with my schedule I try to be a blessing to someone and of good use to God.
I am saying this because someone whose name I won't mention on this thread sent me a mail saying "I'm trying to show myself and feel like a boss here and they were here before me so I should take a sit".
I have never felt important or superior to anyone as u guys notice I always say "I don't know it all". All I give is my 2 spoons and if u have better information, u can share urs too.
I try to stay as humble as I can be and explain as much as I can cos I was once a starter too.
I had thought about leaving the thread and moving on but NO! I'm not here for anyone and I won't leave for anyone.
Anybody who feels disturbed or inferior to whatever I do, should have his case settled with God. God bless me and God bless everyone.

No not must. Seal or stamp is accepted.

I applied to Bielefeld university and my first application was rejected cos I did not put seal. I had to send another set of document with stamp and seal. Adding seal won't be an extra cost and some schools may require it especially when ur document was not certified at the embassy. It is not compulsory but it won't hurt to be on the safe side

wow...this is insightful bro. Please what and what do i need to present at the embassy for them to certify my documents? Can they certify up to 15 set of documents?
Also please how do i get a notary public.? Is it just any lawyer?
Thanks so much as i await ur response.. God bless

U need to present ur original Waec, Bsc, transcript and the school's application form. Also make photocopies of them according to the number of schools u are applying to. U don't need to photocopy the application form.
I'm not sure u can even certify up to 5 at the embassy. That receptionist too dey vex lol
Go to any high court and ask for notary public, tell them u want to certify ur documents. Make dem put seal too o

Joexzy: If you are using the official sealed copy to apply to many schools it will cost you a lot as this will require you paying your school for each transcript that you applied for. For instance in my school is 12k5 for abroad and 7k5 within. that measn for like 5 schools you know how much that will cost you.
now these are my advice to you
1) mail your prospective school or read their requirement and find out if they accept notarized copy of transcript (because some schools will insist it has to be sent directly from your university with the sealed envelop. If the school answers in affirmative that they accept notarized copy, then it is wise and adviceable that you make photocopy of your transcript nad notorize each of them. (note: DONT NOTORISE THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT) just the photocopy.
2) Are you making use of uniassist? If yes then you dont have to worry about certifying the transcript just certify other documents and send your official transcript with your other notorised documents to uni assist
Finally in answer to your question I dont know abuja abj consulate but many guys in this forum have done theirs in Lagos Consulate, Remember you have to be there on time and they are limited numbers of documents they can certify....God's grace

Oga pls stop giving wrong information. Which one is official signed sealed transcript? And who says u don't certify transcript if u are sending to uni-assist?
My transcript was official, signed, sealed and delivered to me yet I opened it, photocopied it and certified it then sent it to 15 schools including uni-assist. U don't have to collect 15 transcripts from ur school to apply to 15 schools whether original or official. One copy is enough.
The only difference is, if ur school will be sending ur transcript direct to the University or uni-assist, they don't have to certify it cos it won't be open but if the transcript enters ur hand, u need to open it and certify the photocopies before u send them.
U can certify documents at either the German embassy in Lagos for free or at a notary public for a fee. I used notary public for all my documents and they were accepted. Confirm which one ur school requires and go ahead.

I don't know what exactly ur plan is but right now u are derailing this thread and some of us feel insecure about it. Have u seen the comments lately right after ur post?
If u are not content with the information here, u can go to Goethe institute and find out yourself. I dont see why u should derail the thread with what should be and what should not until it got to the "sheiBe" and argument about Austria.
What makes this thread succesful is the peace, maturity and seriousness we maintain here.
I couldn't read the story u typed but from the responses, u seemed to have gone sideways

DANNIE-more:
And so, I was just thinking ''IF'' some of us here could be of 'very good' help to each other you know.
Starting from this, a huge percent of us here want to get admission so we could just leave this fucking country though lesser statistics would really want to study but the fact remains that, we all thriving for our future/extension as the case may be.
Now this is it, I am suggesting we don't only just help with admission process, etc, but I believe some of us in Germany already could also help others who cannot come up with the amount for the blocked account of which I know would be difficult to help each other about anyway but, we could help with contacts for the sponsorship letters which could be paid for by those in need of it because, getting the admission is not really a problem but on the round turn, finance and/or sponsorship letter is also a very inevitable stuff we would all need to have else, admission gotten would even be useless.
Please, I was just thinking though ok so, no strings because, I am one of the affected. Got my admission already for summer (March 2014) and got just a million Naira at hand whichs not up to the 1.8m demanded so now, do I have to forfeit my admission? Would be glad if I could get the Sponsorship letter then, pay for it. Don't know though. Thanks and Happy New Year to Y'all !!!

My brother we understand ur point but be careful of Nigerians in Europe o. Many of them are dangerous and desperate. It would shock u that we have some invisible members on this thread who have bad intentions. If someone sends u a fake DOS will u know? If u go to the embassy with a fake one, that could lead to ur ban.
Why would u be willing to pay someone u have never met for something u can't validate? If u don't have the money at hand now, u can defer ur admission till winter. I defered mine and I'm smiling now.
Since u have 1million, why not look for 3 people to borrow u 200k each or maybe sell a property. Some people here don't even have 100,000 but they are still hopeful. Be patient and apply wisdom in what u do. Germany no dey run and embassy no go close down.
I would have told u my own story but this is a public forum and somethings are better kept to oneself.
It is better late than never

naijaobi: seems the thread is a bit dry.. Well lemme ask a question..
Ok guys, its about using Nipost to send documents.. I intend applyig to as many schools as possible.. I plan on using DHL for like 3 of the schools while i use Nipost for the others... So guys how reliable is Nipost for those that av used it..? Is there any trick to use for d documents to be sent faster using Nipost..?
Please i dont mean EMS ooo.. grin
thanks.

I sent 11 documents through Nipost and they all got there in less than a month. Sometimes, the documents may get there and u won't know cos their online tracker is not efficient and even when u mail some schools to confirm, they don't reply. Just make sure u have enough time and be sure to fill the correct information before u send it especially with those german names cos Nipost no get time to contact u if there's a problem. They'll just throw ur document one corner and move on. A school sent my admission letter and it got to me in 2 weeks while some took 3 months, one never came and I went to their office, they said they saw the letter but returned it back cos they couldn't identify the address. I later realised I made the mistake in my address.
Using Nipost is like boiling one basket of tomato with firewood. U need lots of patience, risk and faith

No u don't. Everybody registered with uni-assist has a registration number. Include the number on ur transfer teller and tell ur bank to include it during the transfer. Ur payment will be made on the applicant number u entered which is urs and that's how Uni-assist will know.
On the contrary, u can do that if u made payment before sending ur documents to uni-assist. U could also include ur transfer teller along with ur documents and send

@emeka, congrats bro, am wishin u suxes as u move on in d pursuit of ur career.I know what it's like to leave banking to pursue once career,am also a banker. Pls I need answers to some questions.
1: what are the steps to take in applying thru uni-assist.
2: do I need to send separate docs when applying to many schs.
3: how did u make payment for uni-assist and how much is it. Thanks

1. First, go to their website www.uni-assist.de 2. create an account
3. fill the form and attach scanned copies of ur documents (waec, bsc, transcript, motivation letter,cv,intl passport page)
4. Submit the filled form online and then print it out.
5. Attach the printed form with other documents I stated (certified certificate & transcript) and send them via post mail.
6. Make ur payment

U don't need to send separate documents if applying to many schools. They already have ur documents. Just send the school's form and motivation letter and any extra document the school requires from u.
Pay through bank transfer. The uni-assist bank number is on their website. Ur first application is 68 euro and subsequent ones cost 15 euro each. Just go to their website, the info is self explanatory

@Emeka Thanks for the info...Pls I have 2 questions:

1. Where and how much did you certify your documents?
2. How much did Nipost charge you & how long did it take to get there?

I certified all my documents at ikeja high court. I have a customer there who just takes them to notary public and certifies them for me. It could cost up to 1000 naira. If u are applying through uni-assist, u don't have to keep certifying documents. Just certify the first set and send them (ur certificates and transcript) and even if u want to apply to 100 schools thru them, u don't have to certify anything again since they already have ur documents in their archive. All u need to send is the school's application form and motivation letter. Nipost collected abt 300-800 naira for each school package and took abt 2 weeks to deliver my documents. When u track it online, it may be saying "item in bag" don't mind dem, e fit don reach since.
