Princessjo:

My friend's fiancee in US filed a fiancee visa for her , and recently, they received a mail from USCIS office that her case has been approved. Someone told her that the next step will be the US embassy in Nigeria sending her a written notice and therefore inviting her for interview, please is this true, and if this information is correct, how long will it take before she will be invited for interview, and after the interview, what next?

tell her not to wait for the interview package. It will take too long. SHe should ask her fiancee in the U.S to fax or scan/email the approval notice to her so she can go to the embassy any wednesday @12pm to collect her packet 3 which will include her interview date. The packet 3 is handed out on wednesdays during information/inquiries after 12 pm. hope this helps.
Goodluck!

I am declaring myself officially single again, although I guess in the guys mind I have been single all along. I just want to know how an american girl who love the nigerian culture, get a Nigerian to see her as more than just an "acata" or an black american. What are some signs that he may like us for real? undecided What can we do to make Nigerian men look at us as possible wives and not just harlots.

sorry,,,,,,tell BET to stop presentin AA girls as booty calls and maybe that will help. Also NIgerian men mostly like family oriented women that care about his family as well, not one that will come in create a gap. In general Nigerian men prefer nigerian women because of the same reason that i am explaining this thread to u. NIgerian women just get it because they are nigerian u see?,,,,,,,

yeah,,,,,,one more thing,,,,,do u have a thick accent, as in a strong AA accent,,,,,trust me that might not be helping either

Politics / Wow! British Muslims Now Want Sharia Law by emeka83: 6:58am On Aug 17, 2006
this from daily mail newspaper in the U.K.

Muslim leaders summoned to talks with the Government on tackling extremism in their midst called for public holidays to mark their religious festivals.

The Whitehall meeting was set up in response to last week's airline bomb plot discovery.

Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly had prepared an uncompromising message on the need to tackle dangerous radicalism.

But, in what she admitted were 'sharp' exchanges, some senior Muslim figures turned the tables yesterday and made a series of demands which also included the introduction of Sharia law for family matters.

Dr Syed Aziz Pasha, secretary general of the Union of Muslim Organisations of the UK and Ireland, said: 'We told her if you give us religious rights, we will be in a better position to convince young people that they are being treated equally along with other citizens.'

Dr Pasha said Miss Kelly had agreed to look at the proposals, though her spokesman insisted later that she did not favour any legal change which would give 'special treatment' for the Muslim community.

Some of the 30 moderate Muslim leaders at the meeting told Miss Kelly that important days in their two main religious festivals - Ramadan and Eid-ul-Adha - should be made public holidays for followers of the faith.

Sharia law, which is practised in large parts of the Middle East, should also be introduced in Britain, they argued. While it specifies stonings and amputations as routine punishments for crimes, Dr Pasha said he wanted it only for family affairs.

Under the law, a husband pays his wife a dowry on marriage, and money and assets are shared out between family members in specified amounts after someone dies.

'We are willing to co-operate but there should be a partnership,' Dr Pasha said.

'They should understand our problems then we will understand their problems.'

A recent poll suggested that a third of British Muslims would rather live under Sharia law, while a similar number said they also hope Britain will one day become an Islamic state. But Dr Pasha claimed the legal changes he proposed would help convince young Muslims to integrate better into British society.

The Union of Muslim Organisations of the UK and Ireland claims to be a widely representative umbrella group. However, it does not include more influential and high-profile bodies such as the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB). Inayat Bunglawala, spokesman for the MCB, also attended the meeting but distanced his group from the calls for Sharia law.

He said: 'We believe one legal code should apply for all citizens of the UK. There is no place for multiple legal systems for people of different religious or ethnic backgrounds.

'If people object to a certain law they should campaign peacefully and democratically for a change - but only so that it applies to all people, not just Muslims.' The Government has accused Muslim leaders of a 'dreadful misjudgment' for claiming its foreign policy has fuelled the threat of extremism. An open letter, signed by three Muslim MPs, three peers and 38 community groups, said the 'debacle' of Iraq, combined with the recent failure to do more to bring about an immediate end to the Middle East conflict, had encouraged extremists who threaten Britain.

Three hours of talks

After more than three hours of talks with the senior Muslims, Miss Kelly insisted foreign policy in Iraq and the Middle East was not the 'root cause' of fundamentalism.

But she acknowledged there were 'different views' over aspects of Government policy and there had been a series of 'sharp and challenging exchanges'.

'There is a battle of hearts and minds to be won within the Muslim community, working with the Muslim community to take on the terrorist and extremist elements that are sometimes found within it, not just in the Muslim community, but elsewhere as well.'

Muslims must feel that if there was frustration on particular issue, there were ' democratic channels for that to be vented', she added. 'What I do accept is that there is a lot of anger and frustration out there in the community that needs to be properly expressed and vented through the democratic process.'

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and Communities Minister Meg Munn also attended the meeting. Moves being discussed include 'de-radicalisation forums' to help young Muslims engage with Government policy, improved spiritual guidance for Muslim university students and support for training of imams. Haras Rafiq, of the Sufi Muslim Council, said: 'The first thing that we need to do as a community is admit there is a problem.

'It is like being an alcoholic - we need to stand up and say these things and have an open and honest debate.'

Kharshid Ahmed, chairman of the British Muslim Forum, said: 'We believe that the threat is still external - it is people coming from outside and leading the radicalisation.

'We need to deal with that before people inside our communities are leading the radicalisation.'

There are currently eight permanent bank and public holidays in Britain. Three fall on religious days - Christmas Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday. The latter two are common law holidays - not specified by law as bank holidays as they were traditionally days of rest and to go to Church.

The other bank holidays were made law in 1871, to give their workers time off - causing other businesses dependent on the banks to follow suit.

no. I'm a rising senior in High School (will graduate '07)
I'm lost on where to go for college.   (not really. i just want to narrow down my list).

I think u should try U.C schools if u are in california. berkley, san diego, LA and San fransisco are the best. definetly try those high profile school, but for undergrad, people whose parents have a lot of contributions to make to the school are usually given prefrence. however their graduate programs are mostly based on brains especially their medical programs. I will recommend u go to prestigeous public schools as oppose to private ones, also try to get into any medical school u can, but work hard on ur clinical rotations and u can land any residencies in any school that u want, which is what matters anyways.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by emeka83: 12:22pm On Aug 03, 2006
moreover this assumption that it is the responsibility of isreal to protect lebanese lives is a stupid assumptions that has never existed in the history of warfare. the primary and sole responsibility of the isreali government is to protect isreali lives even if it means wiping off lebanon, as long as the threat to its existence continues to come from and entity within that foreign government. now it is also the sole responsibility of the lebanese government to protect its own citizens. Andd if it does not have the military to do so, it will then have to get rid of what is causing the problems (hezbollah), and call a truce with the isreali military. Again the responsibility rests on the goverment of lebanon not israel
Foreign Affairs / Re: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by emeka83: 12:07pm On Aug 03, 2006
am going to puke when next I hear this "disproportional" bullshit. what exactly will be proportional? israel importing 13000 iranian made missiles/rockets and launching them indiscriminately into lebanese civilian population. well, giving a child rapist 20yrs is not proportional to me. porportionality makes sense when it is statistically feasible. u have more than 80% of the1.2 or more  muslims in the world that will like to wipe 6 million isrealis off the earth according to their religion. that is about 960 million people against 6 million people. which means that statistically and proportionally 1 jewish life is worth 160 muslim life. therefore for every one isreali that is murdered by either a muslim attack or a hizbollah rocket is worth 160 muslim life to be proprtional regardless of what means that mass murder is carried out. afterall everbody uses their own means. so proportionally, 450 or more lives lost in lebanon is still far below proportionality compared to the 56 lives in isreal. SO when next I hear u scumbags talk about proportionality, I will tell my contacts in tel-aviv to escalate the bombing even more
Foreign Affairs / Re: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by emeka83: 11:02am On Aug 03, 2006
so Isreal killed 57 civilians in the Lebanese village Qana right?,,,,well so what?,,,,,,,ok stop before u condemn me, but check this out first. That’s about a two-day toll in Iraq, and next to nothing in Sudan, Algeria, Afghanistan, or other war-torn Muslim countries. Iran-Iraqi war took millions of lives, and scores of other intra-Arab wars killed more than 100,000 civilians each. The Allies had no reservations about bombing German and Japanese cities. The Lebanese cheered Hezbollah’s attacks on Jewish population centers. Palestinian suicide bombers specifically target Israeli civilians. So why should Israel behave any differently? Besides, Israeli army did every thing possible to spare the civilians. They were allowed hours to leave the village which hosted the Hezbollah fighters. Israel practically agreed to let the guerillas escape along with the villagers to avoid killing civilians.

The villagers stupidly left in the village, and hide not in the bomb shelter, as the media has it, but in the basement. No reasonable person would hide in the basement of the house targeted for aerial attack. Israel made no mistake; the locals did.

Whether or not that was Hezbollah’s provocation, does not matter. Israel acted well within the normal limits of war. It need not pitifully offer excuses and ask for forgiveness. Wars are about killing. The moral cripples from the Peace Now at Israel’s helm ridicule the country, demoralize the army, and lose the war.

Religion / Can We Live With These Muslims In Nigeria (nigeria V.s Lebanon) by emeka83: 5:44am On Jul 24, 2006
it seems like these muslims are babarians. So again they are taking to the streets abd two people have been killed already. The religious fanaticism overtaking muslims around the world especially in Nigeria is really worrisome. America is a secular democratic state as much as Isreal is moreover America is a predominantely christian nation with its foundations built on judeo-christian principles. SO it is natural that the United States will back Isreal whose very exsistence is under constant threat by the flood of muslims surrounding them that will not hesitate for a minute to obiliterate it if they can. But the bigger issue is that the so called islamic movement in Nigeria has been radicalizing the northern youths in ways that hasnt been seen before. They are been funded and regulated from the middle-east which is threatning to the very exsistence of Nigeria like we know it. So my question is "why do we have to keep pandering to these savages". Why do they have to be a part of Nigeria that wants (theoretically) to become a democratic civilization with human rights for all, if they keep up with these radical ideologies visa-vis sharia law and so on. why don't we just give them their own state and they so they can establish their own caliphate over there. To be honest with u guys I am worried about these islamic fanatics in the north and am just wondering how long it will be before we have our first suicide-jihadist blow himself up in a soccer game stand or a night club in Abuja. This is really scary. SEE LINK BELOW

toshmann,

Nigeria acts right when our militants capture foreigners. The Lebanese government is either supporting Hezbollah or their prisoner. If they are supporting Hezbollah, Israel is justified in bombing Lebanon. If the govt. is Hezbollah's prisoner, Israel would liberate them. The goverment of Lebanon could have responded properly by going after Hezbollah. It's odd that they should put hundreds of their citizens in danger because of two soldiers. One Israeli official said that a dead Israeli means victory for the Arabs, but a dead Arab is a sad thing to the Israelis. This war shows how true it is. It seems both Hezbollah and the Lebanese government don't have the people of Lebanon in mind. Israel seems to care more for them. See how the government of Israel is taking care to keep the casualty level low. Sometimes I wonder if these people in the Middle East are the same kind of humand beings as us. I don't know if it is their religion that makes them like that or if they are the ones giving their religion that image. Their hatred of Israel seems to cloud up their vision so much they don't mind losing hundreds of their own citizens to see a few Israelis dead.

I couldnt say it any better. Thanks for that perspective men.,,,,,u read my mind

", They (Hezbolla, Syria, Iran, and Hamas) started this new crisis. They better be ready for the consequences because Israel is going to dish it out good. I heard today that the Israel's intend to bomb lebanon back two decades."

I disagree. It is Israel who keeps tormenting Palestinians and Arabs through occupation and subjugation.

Oh man, have you seen the living conditions of Arabs in palestine/israel? compared with the israelis, they live in utter poverty because of israeli restrictions of movement and other racist attitudes. It's no wonder those Palestinians are desperate enough to blow themselves up!

I think all of this is due to the American Empire alliance with that shitty little country israel, threatening to bring about a major East / West "clash" very soon.

yeah,,,,another moronic terrorist sympathizer,,,,,
Do u realise that muslims/arabs have more rights in Isreal than they do in their own countries,,,,,they are even in parliament in Isreal for pete's sake. look dear one, people in other Arab countries live in shitty conditions compared to Isrealis. Their f**king leaders do not give a sh*t about them does that also have anything to do with isreal? what about the bombing in Russia, India Somalia does that also have anything to do with Isreal. The problem is that u muslims think that u are the only one that have the right to live. weeping up sentiments of Isreali "oppression" to force people to have pity on u. Yet u guys oppress urselves the most, kill urselfs the most, Arab leaders steal the oil money from their people and force them to live in poverty,,,,oh sorry I forgot that is also part of the isreali conspiracy. U guys are patrhetic. Go to northen parts of Nigeria, go to iran, syria and others and draw the parallels between the living conditions, but of course agaIN ISREAL IS responsible. the secret is being exposed and very soon people will see Islamism like it really is.

niterider:

@chxta

Was this write-up a work of your imagination or was it culled frm some news agency. If the later, post the site.
If it was your own imaginative thinkin, then i suggest u do a re-think because all you did was look at the current situation frm a myopic point of view. The IDF cannot just attack syria like they did lebanon. There would definately be far more consequences.

No one doubts that, however u will understand that one of the deterants isreal boasts includes about 6 hidden nuclear capable submarines. most of Syrian war jets are outdated mostly because of military sanctions imposed by the United States against syria which includes denying the country access to U.S war plane parts produced by department of defence. So lacking parts and crucial updates, Syrian jets are no match for the IDF and their defence system is pretty much lapse compared to the fully updated isreali jets fitted with all kinds of misile evading capabilites. Initially it was thought that Isral was trying to cut off reinforcements for Hezbollah, but the latest info from tel-aviv and developments in Lebanon indicates that Isreal within the next day hopes to expand its operation into damascus. SO the main aim is:
1, To put pressure on Syria to force hezbollah to halt attacks or withdraw from Isreal's northern border
2, To incase Syria refuses, make it pay a huge price that might make it wonder whether its support for Hezbollah is worth being set back 10 or 20 years militarily
3. to jUst incase syria does not get the message and attempt to counter-attack, make it extremely hard for them to send ground forces through lebanon since the connecting road does not exist anymore virtually. This will force syria to go airborne causing isreal to wipe out what is left of syrian airforce, or force their military to have to go through the golan heights which will be devastating since the Golan heights is one of the most military fortified places in the world.
