Politics / Re: Fashola - I Can't Be Ribadu's Running Mate - Ac Ticket by emeritus05: 2:23pm On Aug 13, 2010
After reading through all the replies on this thread,the opinion that comes to mind is that (1)Nigerians are very difficult people to please,no matter how hard you try.(2)A lot of the replies here lack objectivity and its tainted with Tribalism.(3)Some replies just show that some people are plain dunce when tackkling national issues.

As for me (speaking from an objectively point of view),Fashola's decision not to accept to run as VP is the best.Reason is; (i)he knows he's not seasoned enough, (i)he has alot of unfinished biz in Lagos State, (iii)he knows his boss(Tinubu) is trying to turn the tables on him,(iv)and finally he knows his projects(both the ones we can see and those in the offing) will be hijacked or stopped.

To those complaining about BRT fares,i  think(my opinion anyway)its still within the reach of average Lagosian to pay 160 dopemu-cms,120 ojota-cms,120 mile2-cms e.t.c.When i think of those days that commercial bus drivers hold us to ransome when it rains or there is scarcity of fuel with no option than to pay exhorbitant fares,i still thank God for BRT.

Someone mentioned the issue of Tax,their is no developed nation in this world today that achieved that status without the use of Tax payers money.My take on this is that when u pay your tax and you see the evidence of your money been used to provide amenities albeit at slow pace its still better than you paying with nothing to show.atleast the Federal govt collect tax through VAT!and we can't see anything to show for it.

And as regards political parties,i wld like to blieve that we all on this forum are liberal in our thinking and for our own good,we shld jettisson the attitude of our fathers.i believe a new nigeria is coming where tribalism,ethnicism,will have no place.A Nigeria,where we wld vote for personalty not for religion,ethnic and party affliations.And i think that is the point,ACN re trying to drive home,they went SHOPPING for a candidate that will help us realise our new nigeria.

One word for those who are for the separation of nigeria on the basis of marginalisation,we need you(atleast we the advocates of new nigeria) to stay,see beyond this present hopelessness and belive that our Eldorado,which is a free and egalitarian society for all will be ours in no time.Leave Tribalism;its the brainchild of our fathers that did us no good.
Education / Re: Unilorin Leads Nigerian Varsities In World Ranking by emeritus05: 2:04pm On Aug 03, 2010
to those saying UNILORIN can never top the list of the best universities in nigeria,well u re all entitled to your opinions.but fact is,that school didnt just get there by chance,they ve been buliding towards it for a while now.some1 posted on this thread earlier that his cousin was in 3rd class in his first year but graduated with 2.2 in U.I and that if it was UNILORIN maybe his cousin would ve had 2.1.I can tell u that am a 2.1 graduate of university of Ilorin,and ve had my 2.1 since my first year and we were just 2 overall in my department dat had an UPPER.Infact the year i graduated(2003),there was just one 1.1 dats to tell u d type of driling we went tru!.To all those shouting U.I,UNILAG,OAU yes these are great school but this 2010,next year it could be any of them.so pls let UNILORIN be they truly deserve it.I am talking about a school that the sale of hand-out is prohibited.in all of my 4 years i didnt buy one singe hand-out,and the reasons are to make (1)students attend classes,(2)visit the library.
i rest my case!

@PADDY LO,u re the guy!

@times its really difficult for me to understand the way we Nigerians think.For the first time since i was born 30yrs ago,am seeing a new Lagos.Truth is Love him or Hate him FASHOLA is the best.for the 1st time,we are seeing a Government thats projecting in to the Future and we are all complaining meanwhile the core problem of Lagos stems from the fact that the past leaders did not put into consideration population increase when constructing Road,Hospitals,Housing Schemes,Schools e.t.c.peeps if u re not proud was happening in Lagos then u will be left behind.come to think of it sef,which of the 34(excluding Ameachi) remaining Governors is undertaking a project big enough,worthy of discuss on NL,and changing the economic and social life of its citizens?

kettykings:

I can't help but weep for these hypocrites, they go about calling themselves the giant of Africa because of unproven and inflated populations(giant of small countries Togo, Benin) meanwhile other less endowed countries (Angola, Kenya, Ghana)are doing better and greater than them , they keep inflating their population not so that they can give more tax to their central government but so that they can get more from their inept government and have more representatives.

Somebody (ghadafi) told them to split their country so that they can have peace and reduce the number of bloodshed and they called the man a mad man.

Now BBC shows them the picture of how they leave their lives and they say the BBC does not like them and does not want their progress.

For how long will you keep leaving a lie Nigerians
stop the hating,it will only make us stronger and better!
