Investment / Keeping Money In Piggyvest Vs In Banks by emtok(m): 3:18pm On Jan 04, 2021
Each month I discover that the interest my banks give me is just Sakamanje because they end up deducting it again under the disguise of stamp duty, SMS charge etc. But since I discovered PiggyVest, I hit a goldmine. There are no charges deducted and there is interest of nothing less than 10% on monies kept in PiggyVest. More importantly withdrawal from PiggyVest into your regular bank account is also free. You can also try for yourself and see things first hand.

I use PiggyVest to save & invest securely. Sign up with my link and get ₦1,000.00 to start your own savings journey - https://www.piggyvest.com/?newref=1&ref=91a38b87400319

Do you know that you can setup a business website with just N1,200! Yes, you read that right. I'm going to share a secret with you. There are smart ways you can build that much-needed website for your business or blog at a low cost. What you need are two things, a ucraft account, and a cheap domain name from whogohost .

STEP ONE: CREATE A UCRAFT ACCOUNT
Ucraft is an online website builder where you can easily create a website, online portfolio, or online store without any programming skills. It's a drag-and-drop (do it yourself) platform. The good news is that they allow you to have one FREE website account. You can take advantage of this FREE opportunity to own a website. Click here now to create an account. After creating the account, take your time to design and develop your website to your taste.

STEP TWO: BUY A CUSTOM DOMAIN NAME:
You need a custom domain name for your website, e.g. objectivegist.com.ng. This is where whogohost comes in with their cheap services. For as low as N1,200, you can get a .com.ng domain on whogohost here. There are other domains like .com, .org, etc if you can afford them because they are costlier than a .com.ng domain.

Once the domain name has been purchased all that is left is to point your Ucraft website to this domain..

Business / How To Succeed In Business (tale Of A Jammed Public Toilet Door) by emtok(m): 7:12am On Jul 03, 2020
It was a hot sunny day and I had taken too much water that made my bladder full. I rushed towards a public toilet to take a pee, but upon getting to the door it was locked, or so I assumed. I tried the lock once but since it did not open, I assumed someone must been engaged and locked it from behind but I was wrong. A gentleman walked up to the lock, tried harder and the door opened, it was only jammed and needed an extra push. I had assumed... Assumptions!

So many times in business we assume too much. We assume doors to be locked that we don’t push hard enough and simply retreat at the first try. What door of opportunity are you trying to get opened? Push harder.

Business / Business Capital Versus Business Plan. by emtok(m): 11:36am On Jun 20, 2020
Someone once said, "blacks are Blacks' problem". I disagreed and he explained how an uncle gave him a shirt and shoe worth $4500 when he had earlier requested capital for his business from same uncle but explained lack of fund.

I smiled and said, your uncle is not your problem, Africans definition of "capital" is the problem. When we hear the word 'capital' what comes to mind is huge sum.

He looked at me and nodded affirmative. His uncle said he didn't have "that kind of money". I know many persons have received that kind of disappointing response from people. The question is what is "that kind of money" called "capital"?

Start small, grow big.

Many young entrepreneurs prepare business plans with huge capital base because they won't to hit the ground running (start big). I'll rather say, break your business plans into small phases and milestones. For instance, I had a 100 million studio idea, but I broke into phases.

PHASE ONE: mini studio.
I didn't have to start the studio using pro equipment worth millions because the fund is readily not available. A mini budget for phase 1 made me plan the whole studio around 5million to 10million. Then I set a growth plan for Phase two to step up the equipment and space.

Many businesses are still in incubation because of big budgets that are not available. Exploit the phase by phase business planning to start small and grow big.

Finally, for those who think capital has to be or is an huge sum of money, it doesn't have to be. Especially for peeps abroad, monetize the value of goodies you buy home for young entrepreneurs to invest in their phases of business. You can finance a shop rent for them as against buying them $4500 worth of clothing, that is also capital. Capital is anything you put in a business to grow it.

Career / Alhaji Vs Oyinbo by emtok(m): 9:50am On May 24, 2020
I just settled in my seat (window seat) on an aero flight when this Oyinbo lady lady walked in and sat on the aisle seat. There was just a seat in between us. She was on a call and only smiled at me to greet me and continued with her conversation.

Shortly later, an Alhaji walked in neat white kaftan and a blue cap. He was to take the seat in between myself and the Oyinbo. I made some observations about my two seat mates.

The Oyinbo.
Fluent, well-versed and free...yeah! That's the word, she was FREE with her conversation on the phone. SELF CONFIDENCE.

The Alhaji
You see the Alhaji, he isn't well read, semi-literate but he was kinda rich, carefree and confident too. He was just chewing whatever it was he had in his mouth 'carefreely'.

You can see the assessment of both. They were both FREE (even though one had "care" before his own free) but it takes confidence to even be carefree in your illiteracy. Both knew their SELF worth and were confident in it.

Observing our nature in Nigeria (South west especially), we lack confidence and that may be because we do not know our SELF WORTH or lack a worth.
You will see many youths easily rubbished and cannot stand their ground for what they worth. Build your worth and be worthy this Corona period.

Romance / Black Marriage by emtok(m): 11:38pm On Apr 03, 2020
The long unlighted stretch of road was not just covered in darkness, scary animal sounds and incessant rumbles that came
from the thick bush lining the roadside caused more scare than the thick darkness. Dirty and sweaty from having played soccer, we had to take our return journey back home through this dark
scary road with no lamps or torches. This is a funny but true tale of how attending the Royal Ambassadors meeting every Sunday evening and returning home at night through the dark streets with folks and other kids in the neighborhood looked like.

At the beginning of the return journey back home we always psyched our confidence, boasting in strong confidence to confront whatever (danger) may walk out of the dark bush into our path. We would walk right in the middle of the road and
watch around vigilantly. There are usually no troubles at the beginning but midway into the journey where the bush get
thicker and the rumblings get scarily louder, then fear set in. At this juncture, most of us have our shoes in hand, ready to run and yes, it usually ended in a sprint through the rest of the journey.
Whatever happened to the boisterous boast of confidence we had at the beginning of the journey?

This story captures exactly how the journey of marriage is. There is a long stretch of dark (unknown) and scary road that couples must pass through in their nuptial journey. Their success largely
hinges on how prepared they are for this road. At the beginning of the journey, many persons (couples) boast in the confidence of being able to confront whatever may come their way but along the way, when the darkness gets thicker and the rumblings become scarier, they chicken out.

Amen
MARX77:
I don't care if you a sinner or believer, Christian or muslim, black or white, male or female... My earnest prayer is may we not marry wrong. The rest if your life is too long to be married to the wrong partner
Romance / Twerking Into Marriage? by emtok(m): 10:18am On Mar 23, 2020
Many are twerking their way into marriage instead of praying their way in. Watching most marriage reception programs on IG is quite disappointing. Newly wed couples display well rehearsed dance steps on the dance floor but when it's time to say prayers, they mutter and stammer few words.

Do you observe the bridal entry in most marriages today? You will see the energy the ladies put into dance rehearsals to twerk their way into the venue. Same with the guys too. They would "gbe-body and gbese" all the way in. I totally understand the joy of the moment and it's really not a bad thing for someone who has adequately prepared for the marriage journey.

What many youths prepare for nowadays are for wedding ceremonies and not marriage itself. They forget that wedding is only a ceremony that last few hours while marriage lasts a lifetime. If you could spend resources and time to ensure that the few hours wedding ceremony is "loud gan" (a talk of the town), while the couples lack understanding about the marriage institution they are going into, then it's nothing but foolishness. That is why most marriages nowadays last only few months or years.

Marriage and staying married is not an easy task. After the wedding, you will get to discover the real truths about the wife or husband you thought you knew perfectly well before saying "I do" in marriage. At that time many will say "this is not the man I fell in love with" or "this is not the woman I used to know".

How then does it work?

Politics / He Became A Politician! by emtok(m): 11:24am On Mar 16, 2020
Well, not just him, they all did when they got to the seat of power. Is there a genie on the seat of power that turns them all to politicians? Not really, it's just the power play. Over the years, we have seen philanthropist with selfless personality being moved (or pushed) to vie for public posts so they could do more good for the people with state resources. Not to mention names though, even comrades who fought good fights for the wellbeing of the populace as activists, and who the public thought would be a Messiah in government also disappointed when they got to the seat. What happened? They became politicians and drowned in the pool of its dirty games.

Playing politics & politics playing.
There is a saying that absolute power corrupts absolutely. The above proverb means that whenever a person has absolute power over people or things, it morally affects their nature and fills them with destructive pride. However, it takes humility to be save from this mind corruption.

Playing politics means to act for political or personal gain rather than from principle. Some people term it diplomacy. This is a very common practice in the Nigerian political sphere. For any leader to be able to do the populace much good, they must play less of politics and stand more for moral principles.

Let he without sin be the first to cast a stone. Would I not also be guilty of their sins if I'm in their place? Many times it's easy to point fingers. Watching our leaders stumbling and falling ought to teach us lessons not to be tripped by the same stumbling blocks they stumbled upon. As future leaders, are we going to lead better or just conform to the status quo?

However, we cannot all be on the seat. Some will and must be at the "finger pointing" side so that the leaders can be put to check when their politics playing and selfish ambition trolls on the people.

Politics / Re: We Always Run! by emtok(m): 8:09pm On Mar 10, 2020
True! Valid points you made here... In fact it seems that is why we even run... To make money to live flamboyant with..
Banmeallday:

You are correct, not only do we run, but when we get some success abroad, i.e. job, girlfriend, papers, we are infatuated with Western luxuries like big homes, Mercedes, Gucci, Hennessy with sections at a club, and all those unnecessary things that enrich the descendants of our former and current slave masters.

Then we return to home/Africa only to party and “show our selfs” the more.

We are not serious and really,

Who is the Nigger then?

Politics / We Always Run! by emtok(m): 5:31pm On Mar 10, 2020
Don't think it, just run! We run, yes we always do! Isn't that a problem? When we can't face problems to see them solved but instead we run!

I've thought it over, and statistics have proven it to be, that we have the best, creative, and talented, but yet we always run. We run to foreign grounds to be productive and leave our roots in ruins.

Billions have gone, millions are plotting to cross and the number will continue to rise if nothing happens. Is that all we can do, I mean is that all we should do? Some people sacrificed to make the places we run to habitable but we are unwilling to pay the price.

But how? They've failed us, or should I say, we allowed them to fail us. They will continue to fail and milk us in corruption because they know we would only run without a fight.

We fight those who close their borders at us instead of fighting those who pushed us out to the borders. If our own people, our own leaders could so corruptly treat us, why wouldn't the foreigners.

Will I also run, better still, should I also run? I ain't a coward and I ain't a fool as well. Running is cowardice but staying seems foolish too. The Bible says we are fools for Christ's sake, so the question is, can we be fools for Revolution's sakes?

Religion / Religious Rituals: My Father Said So. by emtok(m): 1:42pm On Mar 08, 2020
A Muslim boy took a wee in my presence and asked for water when he was done to rinse his "John Thomas". I asked him the meaning of what he had just done and he said he didn't know, but his father taught him to do so.

You see this is one problem with religion. That is why a lady could use the Bible as an ash tray despite a Christian upbringing. We teach them and enforce the religious rituals but leave out the conviction. You force a child to obey religious rules under your roof not because the child is convinced or knowledgeable about the spiritual implications, but because the child must oblige to the parents orders. This is why once the child is outside the parent's house, he/she will follow his/her lifestyle and conviction.

Believe is a thing of the heart, not a show off religious rituals practice. The Bible says teach (not force) your child the ways of the lord, that he may not depart from it. What many parents do is force a lifestyle on their children instead of teaching them to understand the tenets of a godly lifestyle.

I know of a family who made it a rule to explain the offense before punishments are meted out, this way the offender gets to know the wrong committed, the consequences and the reasons not to continue in it, this is what is called teaching. This way the child can answer with bold conviction the reasons behind every godly actions he/she takes and not just "because my parents said so".

Romance / The Date With No Car! by emtok(m): 8:14pm On Mar 05, 2020
Can we turn up without cars, probably on a bike (okada)? Let's have the cars remain in the garage and see the lady who cares to stay, the lady who will see beyond the moment's 'ride' but into what rides the future.

It all begins to matter, when we don't have to 'steal' daddy's car to impress or don't have to brag in mummy's financed tuxedo to woo. When all she wants is you and not the showoffs. When she can feel secured to be bare faced and bare minded with you in a hearty talk.

It all begins to matter when what attracts you to him is your inner beauty and not the expensive 'makeup'. When your nude is covered by his strength, honesty and care. When you don't have to be perfect or hide behind 'perfection' to please him.

The perfect date night is not that expensive eat out, in a posh and sweet scent car, that will end on the bed of immorality. No! A date is an avenue to meet and not a venue to eat or impress. It can be as simple as an inexpensive walk through a beautiful garden with less activity to ensure a Tete-a-tete. A discussion to get to know each other.

So before you wipe your account ref over an expensive show-off date, ask yourself, to what end? Is it to get-to-know or to impress? So if it truly is about getting to know, can we have a date without a car? It makes it even more fun as it allows ample time to talk while we walk in search of a taxi?

To answer your question point blank, a driver had once introduced me to his boss who was the area manager of IBEDC.. He had done the talking and hyping for me even before I met the boss.. Bro, No contacts is too small, someday it will become useful.
EliteDude:

Bro, doesnt that depend on the product?
I am a sales rep in a Company that is into pharmqceutical products,
Most times I dont deal with the owners of these stores!

I try to build rapport with the ones i can.
Career / The Mistake Many Sales Officers Make by emtok(m): 4:55pm On Mar 03, 2020
If you go through my phone contact, half of my contacts are those of current and ex-clients. I still have them as contact and keep in touch with some of them. They were and still remain my network of contacts as my rapport with most of them was a good one. If I contact them, I get their attention and if they do contact me, they get my attention too. That is the power of a sales person.

However, many Nigerian sales executive do not understand this relationship network. Immediately they get laid off on a sales job, they lay off and close door to all their client contacts as well. Some do not even attempt the courtesy of informing their clients about their job status or resignation, they just go incommunicado. The customers are not your bosses, they should not be the victim of your grudges.

Twice I've been shocked by the immature attitude of realtors sales reps who had cordial rapport with me on the job but Immediately they got laid off, they just thrashed me too. Well, too bad for them because I could have gotten one or two of them new jobs but they wouldn't even pick my calls.

As a sales person, you are probably one of the luckiest person because of the opportunity you have to meet people and build networks. Sales take you to places and people who can be of help later in life but many miss that opportunity. Don't bring your clients into your fight or grudge with your company. They are your network and gold mine for life if you keep the relationship good.
