Jobs/Vacancies / Unemployment: Nigeria Ranks 6 In Top 10 Miserable Countries In The World by engeesbee: 3:40pm On Mar 31, 2019
The recently published report by Steve Hanke, an economist from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, United state, listed Nigeria, Venezuela, Iran, Brazil, others among the first ten (10) miserable countries in the world.

According to the report Venezuela was listed as the most miserable country in the world. Reacting to this Hanke said, “Venezuela holds the inglorious title of the most miserable country in the world in 2018, as it did in 2017, 2016, and 2015.”

However, Argentina jumped to the No. 2 spot after yet another peso crisis. Since its founding, Argentina has been burdened with numerous economic crises. Most can be laid at the feet of domestic mismanagement and currency problems.

Iran took third in the ranking, before Brazil that made it to the fourth position. Turkey took the fifth position as the giant of Africa Nigeria emerged sixth.

The Misery Index was calculated using economic indices including unemployment, inflation and bank lending rates. For Nigeria, unemployment rate was the major contributing factor to its miserable state.

Politics / MUST READ: See Why INEC Is Withholding Okorocha’s Certificate Of Return by engeesbee: 9:41pm On Mar 28, 2019
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday cleared air on its decision to withhold certificates of return of Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo and three others.

Mr Festus Okoye, INEC National Electoral Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, said the decision “does not amount to shifting goal post at the middle of a match.“

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Awka that INEC only issue certificate to people who genuinely won elections.

“Issuance of certificates of return is a statutory function of INEC, it is only issued to those who won election and must be done through free will of a returning officer.

“In the case of Imo West Senatorial zone where Okorocha contested, the Otu-Opi Federal Constituency in Benue, Agayi State Constituency and another in Akwa Ibom.

“What INEC is saying is that you can’t engage in bad electoral behaviour and expect INEC to reward you with a certificate.

“Our certificate is only for those who won freely,” he said.

Okoye said the commission has the right not to issue certificate to such persons as it would amount to abnormality.

He said INEC action is not targeted at the voters who voted people of their choice, but to address excesses of those who wanted to use unconventional means to win elections.

“Once we have such case, INEC will not issue certificate, but ensure that the right thing is done,” he said.

He said at the moment that ...continue reading at https://skynewsngr.com/must-read-see-why-inec-is-withholding-okorochas-certificate-of-return/

Business / Breaking: Buhari Signs N30,000 Minimum Wage Into Law; To Take Effect May 1 by engeesbee: 3:58pm On Mar 28, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari has finally signed the N30,000 minimum wages proposed by Labour into law.

He said the payment of this new minimum wage will commence in May, 2019 to mark the international Workers’ Day.

President of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Mr. Bobboi Kaigama, had on Monday called for quick harmonisation of the N30,000 national minimum wage bill to enable President Muhammadu Buhari assent to it.

Kaigama spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on the implementation of the new minimum wage.

NAN reports that the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress had urged the President to sign and implement the new wage before the end of the 8th National Assembly.

Health / What Ladies Are Expected To Do With Their Used Menstrual Pads by engeesbee: 11:22am On Mar 28, 2019
The Women Environmental Programme, has advised ladies to cultivate the habit of burning and burying used sanitary towels, following the recent trend of theft of used underwear and pads for rituals.

Mrs Kyauta Giwa, the organisation’s Executive Director, gave the advice on the sidelines of a Training of Trainers Workshop on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in Makurdi, on Wednesday.

Giwa said this would go a long way to douse the tension around the matter; and also promote safe disposal of menstrual materials for the overall health and wellbeing of women and girls.

According to her, it is important to break the silence surrounding menstruation and safe disposal methods, saying, “as society evolves, people ought to learn and imbibe healthy practices.’’

“My opinion is that if people can dig and bury, or burn; whatever method that you can quickly use to dispose your sanitary waste is advised, but make sure you minimise its availability on dumpsites and other open places.

“Just dig a small hole around the house, burn quietly there, because this new thing of stealing of sanitary towels and underwear is a major concern.

“Actually it is not a good sight, as a woman, I see used sanitary towels and I am worried, in fact, it was a man that even...

Crime / Boko Haram: How Borno, Yobe Governors Promote Insurgency – Report by engeesbee: 11:11am On Mar 28, 2019
Elizebeth Robertson, a renowned expert in Counter-Insurgency and Confliction Resolution based in Geneva has made a shocking revelation on the involvement of Yobe and Borno State governments in promotion of insurgency in north east Nigeria.

Robertson lamented that in spite of the efforts made by the Nigerian government and a multi-national military operation, Boko Haram has remained a major security concern.

According to Reobertson in an electronic statement, the Borno and Yobe States governors have failed to empower their youths as the governments of some other northern states have been doing like giving meaningful work tools, hence the rising cases of extremism amongst the youths.

She wrote, “There is a perplexing situation around Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād better known as Boko Haram or other terrorist groups operating in the Lake Chad Basin comprising north-east Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon. In spite of the efforts made by the Nigerian government and a multinational military operation, Boko Haram has remained a security concern that has in recent weeks worsened as terrorists launch daring attacks that should not be possible given the scale of decimation that the Nigerian military had unleashed on the group.

“It is glaring that certain key factors make it possible for Boko Haram to remain a threat. The group continues to have access to a limitless pool of uneducated, unemployed, impoverished and easy to radicalize youths. The clerics in the area have not been brought on board to tailor preaching that insulate youths against being easily recruited, brainwashed and radicalized. The Borno state government, which is the epicentre of the insurgency, and Yobe state have failed to invest in social intervention programmes that will lessen the allure of the empty promises Boko Haram uses to lure youths into its ranks.

“The Borno and Yobe States Governors have failed to...

Travel / Another Boeing 737 Max Plane Makes An Emergency Landing Florida by engeesbee: 12:53pm On Mar 27, 2019
A Boeing 737 Max plane has been forced to make an emergency landing in Orlando, Florida, after it experienced engine problem 10 minutes after takeoff.

This is coming after two crashes involving the 737 Max plane, raising questions about the safety of the plane.

The airline said one of the pilots reported the engine problem and was directed to make an emergency landing at the airport.

“The two pilots aboard the flight reported a performance issue with one of the engines shortly after takeoff. The crew followed protocol and safely landed back at the airport,” the airline said.

Southwest has said that the aircraft will be moved to its Orlando maintenance facility for a review.

Airline regulators around the world have grounded the 737 Max model after concerns that the anti-stall system was behind two recent deadly crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia.

All 157 on board the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft died after the plane crashed shortly after taking off from Addis Ababa on March 10.

Similarly, four months earlier, a Boeing 737 Max 8 model operated by Indonesia’s Lion Air crashed shortly after taking off from Jakarta, killing all 189 people on board.

Religion / Church Of England Set To Ordain First Nigerian Gay Priest by engeesbee: 11:11am On Mar 27, 2019
Founder of the first gay church in Nigeria – House of Rainbow – so named most likely because the colours of the rainbow is same as that of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender LGBTIQ Movement, Rowland Olajide Macaulay, who fled Nigeria to escape a 14-year jail sentence, may soon be ordained priest by the Church of England in the United Kingdom.

Homosexuality is a topic that sparked controversy in Nigeria and a majority of the population was vociferously against acts of homosexuality which now attracts a 14-year jail sentence in accordance to Nigerian law.

The founder of Nigeria’s first gay church, House of Rainbow, Rowland Olajide Macaulay, a reverend who sees himself as an activist, fled the country as soon as the National Assembly enacted a law prohibiting such anti-social behaviours. Although it was founded in Nigeria in September 2006 by Macaulay, Nigeria’s first openly gay pastor, there is still no record of a physical church structure for House of Rainbow on Nigerian soil. Macaulay ran the church from his home in Jakande Estate, Isolo, Lagos, and a “worship space” in Ojodu Berger, Lagos, with about 32 people in attendance at the first meeting which took place at Ikeja Capital City Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

Macaulay, now 53 years old, recently stirred the hornest’s nest as he shared...

Romance / “if You Wan Enjoy Yourself; Touch And Smooch Body, You Go Make Am N2500 by engeesbee: 11:02am On Mar 27, 2019
God forbid. I can’t sell the material for N3,000. The least I will take is N5, 000. If you can have enough money, I am all set to sell. But if you maintain on paying N3, 000, you can go to Oja-Oba(market) and buy from there.”

If you think the above words came from a trader in fabric materials, you are 100 percent wrong. The material that is up for sale here is not the usual fabric made of cotton or linen. It is sex! The traders are female students of a tertiary institution in Ibadan, Oyo State, who have included “runs” to their studies.

Overwhelmed with reports of the escapades and prostitution of the female students in Ibadan, Gbenga Odunsi, an investigative journalist, moved around some clubs and bars, disguising as a client in need of a sex merchant for the night –– to examine the veracity or otherwise of the reports. His findings revealed that the high rate of these commercial sex workers in Ibadan is alarming.

His first point of call was Platinum bar, a fun spot located directly opposite UBA building, Bodija. While some were already set and were waiting for prospective customers, others were seen changing the clothes they had worn from their hostels into skimpy dresses or applying make-ups at the roadside.

Welcome to Sodom and Gomorrah
While Oyo State is dubbed as ‘The pacesetter State’, Africa’s largest city is not setting a good pace in areas of morality.

A tall, light-skinned and beautiful twenty-three-year-old lady –– whom I later knew as Chinwe –– was eager to land a client for the night, so her eyes darted furtively scanning the newcomers. When asked how much her business fetched every night, she was hesitant at first. “Why you dey ask? You wan do?” she threw back. It was important to encourage her to think that I was a soon-to-be client, so negotiations were opened with a bottle of wine which encouraged her to sit beside me.

For short time — meaning a round of sex with her — she would accept as low as N1000. “But if you wan enjoy yourself well, well, touch and, smoosh body, you go make am N2500.” We haggled and she brought it down to N2000. Spending a night with Chinwe will take nothing less than N3000. “That mean say, you go enjoy till daybreak”, she said patronizingly, blinking her amorous eyes.

It was Tuesday night and ladies were seen in skimpy and provocative clothes; smoking cigarettes and drinking beer with reckless abandon; some twisted their bodies to the music that blared from the big audio system mounted on a stage; while others were seen swinging their hips to entice clients.
Chinwe, who hails from Anambra, is a 300-level Animal Science student at the University of Ibadan. According to her, she gets as much as N8,000 on a good night, while she goes home with at least N2,000 when market is bad. She further stated that she decided to “do runs” because she needed money to complete her education.

In spite of advices from religious bodies, parents and electronic media on the hazard of commercial sex working among the female gender especially young ladies, some are still intransigent. The increase of brothels in Ibadan and its environs has been fast and pronounced in the last few years. Dugbe Queens Cinema, Bodija and Oremeji Road are some of the worst affected areas.

GQ Lounge and 411-night club are next to each other; they are positioned before Elewure bus stop along Bodija road. Countless young ladies were seen standing both inside and out the clubs with their short stem skirt and bum short, soliciting men and money. A few were seen standing beside some cars waiting for the owner of the cars if they could carry them home for a night. There is also another club local at the T-junction along secretariat road, Bodija. The activities of these commercial sex workers always cause hold up in that area as they stand on both sides of the roads soliciting men and money.

Another walk through the area offers you greater embarrassment. They hoot, call and even drag you: “Come now, na me call you first, you no know me again? Come, I go do you well, come and enjoy yourself.” If you are casually dressed, they call you student, otherwise, they call you oga or fine man.”

At D’Rovans Hotel, I had barely sat before a young lady –– who simply gave her name as Tolu –– took her seat beside me and asked for a bottle of beer. I obliged and began conversing. As I was conversing with the lady, four plump and voluptuous ladies in tank tops and bum shorts swaggered their round waist past us. Findings revealed that the ladies were students the University of Ibadan.

Like the trendy saying goes, time is money. Tolu, a student of Ibadan Polytechnic, was obviously not ready for chitchat as she wanted to get down to action at once. Her eyes darted around sizing up everything in trousers as she told me to come to her room and...

Education / Stephanie Idolor Is A Scam—man Who Visited Success’ Mom Narrates What Happened by engeesbee: 9:20am On Mar 27, 2019
A Sapele based man identified as Samuel Meyiwa Khalil has taken to his Facebook page to narrate what has really transpired between Success’ parents and Stephanie Idolor, the lady who recorded Success’ viral video, after she accused Success’ parents of being not appreciative.

On 24th March, Samuel Meyiwa Khalil visited Success’ mother to find out what has been happening and promised to share the details online. He wrote; Just left Little Success and her mother; took time to ask her salient questions on her purported rift with steph. Didn’t want to be part of those going to see them, but as a Sapele man, it is our duty to settle issues like this so Sapele wouldn’t be on the cyber space for wrong reasons…. Details Shortly……..

Hours later, he posted the updates as he promised. Read below.

THE STEPHANIE IDOLOR AND SUCCESS MOTHER’S STORY; A case Of Greed Taken Too Far..

Yesterday, i made a post accusing Success parents of being too greedy not to have accorded what belongs to Stephanie “the girl that did the recording” to her. Being that we all are sapele people, i got a call from someone who is a close associate and a family friend to success and her parents, and who also has been an integral part of the success story.

He came to my place, we spoke and took me to success mother. Unknowing to me that, Stephanie Idolor whom i was also agitiating for to be compensated had done a VIDEO with a Punch Reporter Theophilus Onojoghen who is also my very good friend, complaining to the world that she hadn’t gotten any financial gratification from success parents.

Narrating her ordeal, Mama Success said and i quote with whatsapp chat evidence, we have so far Given Stephanie #570,000, Stephanie only made the video to mock my daughter and myself, she wasn’t even the one that sent to instablog, it was her friend that resides in Asaba a Certain “Joyce Imofen” whom she sent it to, was the person responsible for the VIRAL VIDEO. THE INTRIGUING STORY

First, when Joyce posted the video on instagram ” Stephanie’s Friend in asaba” concerned Nigerians showed interest in supporting Little Success, and some requested Joyce account number, she gave, and the total money she received almost immediately was 70K, not knowing success parents, she called her friend, Stephanie to send her account number, which she did, she transferred the money so Steph could give it to Success mother, to her greatest Surprise, Steph Ate the money and gave success mother nothing. So, Joyce opted to speak with Sucess mother, because she had become the center of all eyes on instagram.

She got the account number from her friend and established relationship with Mama Success. Now, when Nigerians started appreciating success financially, Stephanie became angry and trouble ensued with success parents. She began to make outrageous demands that she had to ask Mama success to take her to ECO BANK BOYO ROAD, sapele where her account “Mama Success” is domiciled to go and check the account balance so they could give her her share.

Success mother being an ignorant woman took her there and discovered that about 700K had been paid, she withdrew 400K and gave to Stephanie, reason being that, steph had said the people involved were so much and she had had to settle everyone person involved. This time, she took the 400K and didn’t give the girl “Joyce” who blew the video a KOBO. She kept making demands, that at a point, she went to ECO BANK to demand the statment of account of mama success but the bank refused; when she discovered that the bank wouldn’t oblige, she went to mama success took her to the bank and almost forced her to open a JOINT ACCOUNT with baby Success so she could control EVERYTHING that comes therein. When this didn’t work, she granted an interview with Punch accusing Success mother of not being appreciative.
