Thanks Bro... Much appreciated.
It's a used car. He wouldn't agree on a rental. Cause it has been on rental before now but he wants to sell it on hire purchase cause he is not happy with the body maintenance (scratches and bumper hit) from the driver but the driver said said he is not ok with the totaling price, according to the owner.

You're welcome bro.

Ok @ used for ehailing before. You may need to know how long it has been used in Naija & ehailing. You can negotiate for something between 1.6 - 1.8 million

Big brothers. Is Peugeot 206 OK for Uber and Ocar?

Yea it's good just that it is quite small. I've taken a ride in it before.

If you aren't so tall/big, you can give it a try.

I advise you speak to mechanics about it tho and people using the ride for both ehailing & personal use.

Seniors in the house, Please I need you guys advice.
Have registered on the Uber and Ocar platform about a month ago or so. And I am about going into hirepurchase with a 2003 corrolla owner, to be paying him 30k weekly with a down payment of 150k now reduce to 100k, totalling at 2m. I want to start the enhailing business soon with this yet to collect vehicle... Am also a business man. I buy and sell, but it's no longer lucrative enough for me cause am married with 2kids. So I just need a side hustle to add to my business or better still face the enhailing full time... Please I need your candid advice, and will love to roll with you guys and know when and how and where and also what platform is best for the enhailing.
Your help please, I have ask this question before but no one wants to help me out...
They say who ask no dey lost...
WhatsApp no; 08107894935

30k weekly is not bad but for you to meet up with the demands of HP (which most times include car maintenance) , you may have to work 5-6 days every week.

I suspect the car isn't toks going by the amount you're paying in total.

I would advise you speak with the person to give you the car on rental for few weeks to learn the hustle a bit before committing yourself to hire purchase

Good afternoon great people. So I was asked to pick this for 1.1M... 2014, 58k Mileage, used by a pastor.

However, a few close friends advice I should rather go for a Naija used Corolla as the parts of the Hyundai might be expensive and not readily available...

Please I need some professional advice from my elders.

This car too fresh for ehailing joor... grin

To be candid, I don't think it is rugged enough for the hustle. Even a corolla 2014 go hear ween. I guess the parts are truly expensive.

If I had such an offer with car in good condition, na to start selling cars be that. If I fit make 200k - 300k on top, I'm in biz jare

I don't, but it will have to boil down to not getting adverts from companies. So to take a step further, one will have to devise a way to lure companies in

Very true. Prior/old relationships with companies come into play to have pioneer' clients

No no doubt it won't come without sweats and nearly throwing in the towel attitude. Advertising and Marketing via visual aid will require a large war chest and continuous watering.

From partnering with drivers to App developers, fintech to riders and stakeholders these will not be easy. But if we take up challenge at a Demo start-up kind of. Roll out a 3months free installation for drivers and train them on workability of the process because remember now we will be working against the norm of one of the prerequisite of the ehailing companies (A WORKING STEREO SYSTEM).

That is why I said... Partnership with stakeholders is key to achieve this.

Yea partnership with one or two could make the tasks easier for the venture

Not all agency or companies believe in direct marketing using E-hailing platform. Reasons going from compliance and monitoring, deployment, measuring impact and visibility or sight of line. But it's still something that I am pushing vigorously.

Ok thanks.

I understand it can be difficult to achieve compliance in the business. But I believe there should be a way to ensure/confirm it before payments are made to drivers. Monitoring can be worked around to an extent.

Deployment should not be too much difficult to achieve.

Visibility is a bit under monitoring. As long as drivers turn on the screens, visibility is achieved I think.

Impact measurement is similar to TV adverts or screens in BRT.

CC. Tyche. Dash cam Installation and training

Yea @ tojahh & Tyche

I just remembered an idea that came to my mind recently. Although some companies tried it in the past. It is about bringing marketing into ehailing cabs. Having screens to market products plus entertainment in Uber/Bolt/OCar rides. 'Our company' will be acting like a marketing/advertising agency. Modalities can be worked out if the idea resonates with what we want.

Show it to a professional, not your neighborhood electrician who tells you how to wire your shack

You're the only fool still disturbing me. Abi I should spam this thread with 50 drawings?

Bro, tojahh quoted you and asked for help as regards projects. Something that will make him stop taking instructions 'to turn from left to right', but you ignored.

Nitigriti has promised to help with correct opportunity. You can do same instead of insulting people's hustle here.

Remember that a stupid driver like me, or wise ones like tojahh or izzou and others could be of help to you tomorrow on other premises (not with wheels). I don't know if eherbal would be willing to have dealings with you though ; grin

Integrity!
Yeah I understand where you coming from and I think these same message should be passed across to them too. You do a review it takes time to reflect, what do you do? Do you pin the rider down or ask the rider to wait till the review comes out..

I did a review once after I ended a trip and it shows 700 naira, review didn't reflect till the next day and the rider has gone. The rider only paid what she saw but after the review came taxify took there 20% on the reviewed price after I told them rider paid 700 niara.

All they said was they have sent message to the rider to pay the balance that if rider didn't pay they will compensate me. Up till these moment rider hasn't paid taxify didn't compensate me.

Since they have decided to allow us settle our issues that's what we are doing my friend. So you see they don't keep there words hence they too don't have integrity undecided

They actually keep a part of it even if it is drivers that will have to use their negotiation skills.

Then, during training, we were told to plead to riders to pay something within the estimate a rider sees while booking if the app fails.

So kodred, drivers do as Taxify tells them to do. Taxify is aware of their deficiencies so drivers aren't actually short-changing them.

Not saying the guy has ulterior motive but I won't send the front and the back of my DL and other personal detail to a third party who's not registered with a notable name coy.

My brother once told me he experienced where someone went to make colour photocopy of his documents and a photocopy of his DL was sold out to another for a purpose I can't tell.

Go to Opays Office and do your registration. The young man might be doing this to gain referral bonus which technically is not bad but... Believe me.... He's not working with Opay.

Elders in the house.. I think I am here at the right time.

I work in a bank, been there for over 3years as an outsourced staff. Salary has never been more than 65k.

I work Mondays to Fridays, leave home 5am get home 7-8pm as the case may be. Sometimes I do weekends(ATM monitoring).

As it stands, there is no assurance of salary review, staff conversion or promotion.

Now an uncle offered me a direct tokunbo 2005 corolla for 2.7m on HP to give him weekly return of 25k or monthly return of 100k till I offset this 2.7m.

Is it advisable to take this car and go into ehailing. Again if I take the car, knowing that I need to give monthly remittances, how do I meet up when the job does not afford me time. Can I meet this monthly target?

Or do I quit my job and go into ehailing full-time while pursuing professional certification or do I just stay on my job and hope things "might" change?

Well it depends on your long term plans.

You can speak to your Uncle to let you start paying after a month as you get yourself acquitted to the hustle (or he helps with maintenance for the first 2-3 months). If you have some money in savings, it may help you when faced with little car issues

I would advise you to merge the two for the time being and if you can't cope after like a month or two (you may have to use your salary to complement payments at times) you gat two options -

1. Resign and face the hustle squarely.
2. Get a good driver on rental (I hope you find a good person) who remits say 30k to you weekly. Here, you are still in paid employment and have a car waiting to be fully yours after about 2 years+

Good luck in your decision!

Does selling clothes stops you for enrolling in professional courses?
Do you think because i am selling clothes i have neglected enrolling for professional related certifications?
The last certification i did cost me 266k and the money came from my importation trade.
Or you think to enroll for professional certification is free? If not for my importation trade where would i have gotten the 266k?

I would like to relate with you as regards the clothing biz. Wiffy recently started the biz.

Let me even help you a little. Vulcanising, Bus conductors, Danfo drivers all fulfill the conditions to your questions... But it seems we just want to get emotional and miss the point from the beginning

The challenge was to channel our energy to alternate models that will be better than driving. What is wrong with that? Or is uber driving the "best job" on earth? Aren't there 1001 jobs that are far more better than this?

I don't know why we all are acting so defensively as if someone touched a nerve.

I have a friend (not on nairaland) that I introduced to uber driving. Recently, he told me he's stopping this December. I asked why. He told me he needs to pursue his career in Procurement and whatever... That the driving isn't giving him time to chase that dream. This is a man with kids that is using it to survive, and doing well probably. What is wrong with his decision?

Stop being emotional sir. The people you're arguing with are drivers too. They won't talk down on something that they used to keep body and soul

The issue really is perceptions, opinions and decisions.

Perceptions - People read deeper meanings to Nitigriti's post. I did not read much into it until I saw counter-posts. He probably did not attempt to talk down people's hustle.

Opinions - we all have different opinions which every human being need to respect. One can't force people to accept what you believe. Just talk and people that you influence will see you have a point(s).

Decisions - some have decided to do the hustle and make it big through it. If that's their decision, I believe they have their reasons. I don't think anyone has a right to make them feel they are dump and their decision is stupid. People can decide to change their decisions based on situation changes.

NB: this is not directed at anyone in particular but based on my opinion grin and inference drawn.

On being defensive and emotional, we are humans. Such happens when people don't want to look at contrary opinions.
