The reason it is avoidable is that in time past whenever a train is coming.. there is a barricade in place. It is a safety measure that could have prevented this accident from happening. Accidents happen but safety awareness prevents near misses and fatalities. quote author=CXLVII post=121610657]What accidents are avoidable? Obi should know better! It’s a world slogan that “Accidents are unavoidable” He could have just said “Thorough investigation should be conducted and more preventive measures enacted” [/quote] |

Where or who do you suggest should make this call and it will be taken seriously... also keeping in mind who will be bold enough to or who has spoken out against the ills we have in our society today.. In Nigeria there will always be a reason to discredit whoever tries to speak out for the citizens and by the same citizens. The problem in Nigeria is 10% leadership and 90% followership. You completely left the urgency and importance of the message.. You claim to love the country but you are more interested in discrediting one and promoting who suitsyour narrative. It is clear that ourselves are the problem we have. You are ok with the problem as long as it is who you love that is stealing the nation dry. Forget the Apc and Pdp narrative and speak against bad governance. Let's begin to ask the right questions so that our children can meet a country to call their own. post=90072044: 2 Likes |
Foreign Affairs / President Trump Releases Guidelines For Opening Up The American Economy by ernietime(m): 11:50pm On Apr 16, 2020 |
President Donald Trump unveiled recommendations to start the process of states reopening the U.S. economy that has been severely damaged by the coronavirus pandemic. The ''Opening up America Again'' guidelines were announced Thursday at the White House after a call with governors of all 50 states. The president is giving the states the authority to make decisions about how to proceed. Trump had said earlier this week that it was his call on when to relax restrictions. "Some states will open sooner than others," Trump said. "Some states are not in the kind of trouble that others are in. Now that we have passed the peak in new cases, we're starting our life again. We're starting rejuvenation of our economy again in a safe and structured and very responsible fashion." The plan would involve three phases. The first allows for limited opening of businesses, including restaurants and gyms, that observe social distancing. The second opens schools and allows gatherings of more than 50 people in addition to further lessening of restrictions on businesses. Non-essential travel also would be allowed. The third step opens large venues and businesses. Under all the phases, people vulnerable to the coronavirus would either shelter-in-place or have limited movement in public. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/04/16/coronavirus-live-updates-donald-trump-economy-unemployment-us-deaths/5138911002/

Health / Stop Holding Your Farts In. Here Are 7 Surprising Reasons Why Farting Is Good Fo by ernietime(m): 7:33am On Jan 08, 2020 |
Okay, so it's not the most glamorous health tip, and some people might find it a little embarrassing to talk about. But farting is a normal result of a healthy digestive system and good indicator of our well-being. On average, we fart about five to 10 times a day. Certain foods make us fart such as beans, sweet potatoes, oats and wheat, and foods that are packed full of nutritional value can often lead to a stronger odour. Whether you fart five or 50 times a day, here are eight reasons why you should let it out and pay attention. 1. It reduces bloating. The most common cause of bloating is a buildup of gas in your gut. That's right: The full, tight discomfort that makes your pants a little tighter might just be because you need to fart. So don't hold it in. 2. It'll help you balance your diet. Everyone has a unique gut, and we all handle foods differently. If you are experimenting with nutrition and diet, farts are a good indicator of balance or imbalance. Too much red meat, for example, usually results in a strong, unpleasant odour, while complex carbohydrates tend to cause larger amounts of gas with a more neutral odour. 3. It can relieve abdominal pain. It might not be appropriate to fart in every situation, but holding it in, especially if you have a lot of gas in your gut, can cause intestinal distension that hurts. If you feel that you need to fart but you can't, try gently massaging your stomach to promote the movement of gas through your system. 4. Holding it in can be bad for your colon. Withholding gas can exacerbate hemorrhoids, for example, as can trying to manipulate the way gas comes out. The best policy is to let it come out naturally. People whose colons have been compromised by illness are also advised not to hold in flatulence. 5. Inhaling farts is good for you. This sounds silly, but studies has found that exposure to small amounts of hydrogen sulfide gas (which our guts produce during digestion) might prevent mitochondrial damage to our cells. This could prevent strokes, heart disease and arthritis, among other things. 6. Farts tell us about our health. Pay attention to the gas you are passing every day. Is it frequent? Does it have a strong odour? Is there any pain? Flatulence can be an early warning sign for a range of health issues. If you have any pain or pronounced changes in your flatulence that you don't think are related to diet, it might be worth seeing your doctor. 7. It feels good. We should all admit it: It feels good to let out gas that has been sitting in our abdomens and bothering us. Holding in gas can make us irritable and snappy. The best thing we can do is excuse ourselves to the bathroom and let it out quietly. There's no relief quite like it. Copy credit: Andrejay |

Crime / Domestic Staff Attack Maersk Shipping Line MD, Kill Wife by ernietime(m): 7:49pm On Dec 10, 2019 |
The managing director of Maersk Line Gildas Tohouo, was on sunday night attacked in his residence at the Ikoyi area of Lagos. Maersk is the world’s biggest shipping company. A source told TheCable that some of the domestic workers of Tohouo planned the attack in which the wife of the CEO was killed. Both Tohouo and his wife are foreigners living in Nigeria. While the man is from Cameroon, the late wife was from Bulgaria. The source said during the operation, the husband and wife were locked in different rooms. The late woman was said to have been forced to transfer some money to her attackers after which she was forced to drink acid and suffocated with pillow. Those who carried out the attack reportedly gained access to the house through an electrician who is currently in police custody. Tohouo was said to have placed a call through to the chief security officer of the company who led policemen to the scene before the suspects escaped. The electrician and his friend who attacked the couple were immediately arrested, according to the source. Bala Elkana, police public relations officer in Lagos, confirmed the incident to TheCable but said he did not want to comment on the identity of the victims. “We have an incident on someone who was attacked with his wife. Both of them were stabbed. The wife died and he is still alive and responding to treatment. Those who carried it out are in our custody. One of them is an electrician in the estate, who was assisted by his friend. Their aim was to steal from the man. They were there to rob,” Elkana told TheCable. The development comes one year after Sunday Ani, a Togolese cook, confessed killing Ope Bademosi, chairman of Credit Switch Technology, at his residence, still in Ikoyi, Lagos. https://www.thecable.ng/how-armed-men-stabbed-md-of-maersk-line-killed-wife-at-ikoyi-residence
