Politics / Re: El-rufai: Kaduna Has More Gold Than S’africa by Etyguy(m): 5:26pm On Apr 06, 2016
We are always fast to put blame on the federal government concerning the state of the nation. But I think the blames should be equally shared between the federal and state government if not the state government should take a larger measure of the blame.

For as long as the late 60s when crude was discovered in Nigeria, all the states in Nigeria have been dependant on the federal government without doing enough to generate their own income in their respective states. All they do is collect monthly allocation from the federal government which they spend on capital projects and workers salaries because that is the fastest way for them to syphon money into their personal account. They neglected the industries and agricultural/mineral resources which their respected states were known for which also serve as a major export product for Nigeria.

Just like El-Rufai has said that Kaduna state has gold and the best ginger in the world, what has the previous governments in the state done to explore those solid minerals and agricultural produce to general income for their respective states other than just depending on federal allocation every months?

I believe each state of the federation are blessed with different mineral and agricultural resources that are peculiar to them, if the state government can partner with the private sector to explore this resources for the benefit of their respective states and Nigeria at large. The federal government will have less job to do but just to co-ordinate all the state and synchronise everything at the federal level.

If all that is done poverty and unemployment will reduce. The state governments are the laziest politician we have in this country and they are also 80% responsible to our economic woes.

Travel / Ghana Denies Nigerians Need Visitors Visa by Etyguy(m): 2:11pm On Apr 02, 2016
Earlier today, a piece of information made the rounds claiming that from July of this year, Nigerians would need a Visa to get into Ghana.

The Current Minister for Foreign Affairs in Ghana, Hanna Tetteh has come out to debunk the story. Earlier quotes attributed to the Ghanaian President made the rounds. It was alleged that he said:

With effect from July this year, we will be allowing citizens of AU Member States to enter our country and obtain visas on arrival with the option to stay for up to thirty days and experience what our country has to offer,”

“This measure, with time, should stimulate air travel, trade, investment and tourism.”

Mrs. Tetteh on her Twitter account has said this is a misinterpretation and that Nigerians won’t need visas in line with ECOWAS’ provision.

You can see her tweets on the matter below.

flickers72: I Lived in Czech Republic for two years, married to a Czech woman, we moved to the UK 5 years ago. Czech is a good country, is all about what you going there to do,if is for transit is not a bad option, but if is for you to get your papers Czech is much more better.Weather might be an issue, when is winter is winter, when is summer is summer...there are quick way of making Money...but i never advise anyone to go into that, working in strip clubs and at same time selling drugs. Just be mindful of the Nigerians,i never ever had anything to do with Nigerians, that was the only way i was able to live a stable and crime free life,no need getting scared of Police. Their girls are one of the most beautiful girls in Europe, if you make up your mind to settle there, you won't live to regret it but the language is vital as well...I hope these explanations does help,if you need further information do let me know

Thanks Flickers, pls i would wanna ask u a few question, i married a Czech woman so i need so imformation. i will be very glad if you will help me out. thanks
Politics / Ghanaian, Kenyan Companies Move To Buy Nigerian Electricity Firms by Etyguy(m): 5:10pm On Jun 23, 2011
Ghanaian, Kenyan companies move to buy Nigerian electricity firms

The bids of Ghana's Volta River Authority and Kenya Electricity Generation Company are among those recently shortlisted by the Bureau of Public Enterprises for the sale of 17 Federal Government-owned power firms.

According to information released by the BPE, the Volta River Authority is bidding for the three hydroelectric power stations in Shiroro, Kainji and Jebba, while KenGen is interested in the Afam, Geregu, Sapele and Ughelli thermal power plants.

The VRA was established by the Volta River Development Act 46 of the Republic of Ghana on April 26, 1961.

Owned by the Ghanaian government, the main purpose of the VRA is to generate and supply electricity for Ghana's needs. It is also responsible for managing the environmental impact of the creation of the Volta Lake on the towns and people bordering the lake.

For 50 years, the VRA has been the sole provider of electrical power for industrial, commercial and domestic use in Ghana.

Starting with a generation capacity of 588 megawatts from the Akosombo Hydroelectric Dam, currently, the VRA supplies 2,000MW power from a hydro-thermal mix.

VRA is also expanding its portfolio to take advantage of Ghana gas, wind and solar energy to ensure reliability, sustainability and competitiveness in the West African power market.

The company is also planning to list on the Ghana Stock Exchange. KenGen is government-owned and the leading electric power generation company in Kenya, producing about 80 per cent of electricity consumed in the country. The company utilises various sources to generate electricity, including hydro, geothermal, thermal and wind.

Hydro is the leading source, with an installed capacity of 766.88MW, which is 64.9 per cent of the company's installed capacity. Thus the installed capacity is over 1,000MW.

According to the company's website, on March 20, 2006, the government of Kenya offered 30 per cent of its shareholding in KenGen for sale to the public through an Initial Public Offer. The IPO attracted a historic 236 per cent oversubscription.

The BPE recently shortlisted 525 bids for 17 of the successor companies created out of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria.

According to the BPE, 273 and 272 bids were prequalified for the distribution and generation companies respectively.

Nigeria hopes to complete the sale of the six power plants and 11 distribution firms by the first quarter of next year as part of a multi-billion dollar privatisation plan.

The country is selling four thermal and two hydro power plants and 11 electricity distribution firms as part of a drive to end the crisis that is hindering economic growth.

The Director, BPE, Ms Bolanle Onagoruwa, said recently, "The hope is that by the first quarter of 2012, we will be able to hand over to the investors."

Onagoruwa said that the 207 shortlisted bidders would need to pay a $20,000 fee for each asset they were interested in by July 15 to confirm their intention to bid, adding that final offers would be submitted on November 1 after a due diligence process.

Only around 40 per cent of Nigeria's 150million people currently have access to electricity, making the potential returns for investors in the power sector huge.

Politics / As A Youth Today Do You Believe In Nigeria? by Etyguy(m): 6:50pm On Mar 19, 2011
As a youth in Nigeria, when i look at the situation of things going on in this country i wept for my country. A country where the youth have lost hope in it is a death country. No light, no water, no good road and above all the unemployment level is increasing at an alarming rate. It is the same set of people that has been ruling this country from time immemorial the new trend is that their children are gradually taking over just like the Saraki's, Abacha's, Tinubu's, Yaradu'a, Obasanjo's and many more.
Do we have any hope as a Country?
Personally i believe we need God's intervention in this country.
whats your take on this?
