Nairaland / General / The Menace Of Beggars On The Nigerian Street. by Fairygist(m): 6:46pm On Nov 16, 2017
One should be merciful and kind to the lees fortunate among us. People fall victims of circumstances, and are incapacitated through no faults of theirs. Anyone could become a beggar if things go tragically wrong. One therefore feels that one must not be rash in dealing with beggars and misfit in our society.
In spite of this perspective, the increase of beggars and misfit now roaming about in all our streets gives a great cause for alarm. Is this a good and healthy situation? Does it speak well about us, about our ability to care for others? A writer in a newspaper has argued that these people should be left to roam about and go wherever they choose without being confined or constrained in any way.
It is true and well knows that beggars, who roam about our streets, need their liberty like any one of us. But while taking this liberal view. One must not forget that beggars are also a risk, a great risk, to healthy normal people. Many of the madmen who roam our streets are psychologically unstable. Some have unpredictable tendencies towards violence. Without cause or provocation, some can hit and injure or maim an innocent person.
Despite the dangers of violence many lunatics and sick imbeciles are really too much of depressing or ugly sights to be put on show. Hospitals and homes are the right places for the sick
“Sure” I ask is it not better for these people to be taken care of somewhere? Everyone has got his freedom constrained in one way of the other. To be kind to people may sometime mean being momentarily harsh begging an insecure way of living. Many of these beggars have no food, shelter or clothing at night.
The government of this nation must save us from this embarrassing situation by curbing their free movement in our street and public places.

Nairaland / General / The Trouble With Nigeria by Fairygist(m): 6:34pm On Nov 16, 2017
The trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely of leadership. There is nothing basically wrong with the Nigerian character. There is nothing wrong with Nigerian land, climate, air, or anything else. The Nigeria problem is the unwillingness of leaders to rise to their responsibilities or challenges personally which are hallmarks of true leadership. Where this problem does lies?

Unemployment: as a young boy at early age of fourteen listen to both local and international news where my beloved country Nigeria is been rated as where unemployment is not treated as an urgent matter by her leaders rates Nigeria as a place of unemployment. For instance on 14th march, some young graduates where reported dead as a result of stampede in a bid to get employment by Nigeria immigration service both in Abuja and Lagos centers. This is one of the numerous information and records about unemployment

CORRUPTION: this means dishonesty or illegal behavior especially of people in authority. I got baffled when I heard that my beloved country is rated as the most corrupt country in the world.
For instance, a civil servant with the Nigerian police pension fund made away with billion of naira only for the court to ask him to pay some millions. The troubles with Nigeria lies so much on corrupt leaders.

INSECURITY: to me, the trouble with my country recently include emergence of “BOKO HARAM” sect in the North East part of the country, the kidnappers group in the southern east of Nigeria. Just to mention but a few. The government is almost spending over 70% of the countries budget on security instead of using it in other developmental project.

PATRIOTISM: in 1978 or 79 General Obansanjo paid an official visit to the University of Nigeria Nsuka. Of the Academic community assembled in the Niger room of continuing education centers and rose respectively to its feet on his entry, General Obasanjo made a total unexpected demand. He asks them to recipe the national pledge! A few ambiguous member followed and then strong silence.
“You see” said the general bristling with hostility; you do not even know the national pledge.

WHO IS A PATRIOT? He is a person who loves his country. He is not even a person who shouts or swears or recites or sings his love of his, country. He is one who cares deeply about the happiness and well being of his country. And its people. What I am saying is that Nigeria is not beyond change I am saying that Nigeria can change today if she discouvers has the will, the ability and the vision. Such people are rare to come by. But is the duty of enlighten citizens to lead the way in their discovery and to create an atmosphere where if effort is made, good leader would create an enabling environment for the society to forge ahead. Whenever two Nigerians meet, their conversation will sooner or later slide into a litany of our national deficiencies. The trouble with Nigeria has become subject of our small talk much the same way as word is for the English.

Education / Why Children Have Special Love For A Particular Parent. by Fairygist(m): 5:39pm On Sep 21, 2017
Children are gift from God. It is really interesting watching our children grow from a sucking child to the babbling stage then to the stage when he is enrolled for nursery, Primary and all the rest. How loving and caring the parents are, for most parents, the will do every thing possible to ensue that their children gets the best affection, attention, education and other necessities of life. Yet the child develops special love for the particular parent And we ask why? Mummy will ask "why Daddy and not me" and Daddy will ask " why mummy and not me.

Well here is the answer; First of all what is your child feeding on? Because your child is what he eats. Have you taken time to study your child? And ask why he/she behaves the way he/she does? It all depends on what he's fed on.

I am not talking about the normal food ( rice, beans indomie etc) we eat but the real food. Children feed With their eyes and emotions. How do you react towards your child when he/she does the wrong thing? A child prefer a particular parent to the other because that parents shows love and affection while correcting the child. And so naturally, the child takes to that parents and will take any correction given to him/her by that parent. He will see such correction as a help instead of punishment. The child will dislike a parent that corrects him with anger bitterness and even hatred. He will be afraid of such parent and will see him as an enemy and a wicked person. Yes the Bible says "Train up a child the way he should grow, when he his old he will not depart from it.

It's not all about beating, shouting, scowling and scolding the child, rather parent should show love and affection while correcting a child, let him not see correction as wickedness but as part of learning. Let your child see love; feel love even when you are trying to correct his/her wrong. Don't make your child see and feel the negative part of your emotion because he/she will grab it immediately, as it is said " Children learn from what the see, and do not leave it easily

Don't see your child as a failure as it will follow him or her all through in life, rather see the success in him and success will follow him. In the face of despair, I believe there can be hope. In the face of shouting and scowling at the child in the name of correction, I believe there can be correction with love. Let us assume the best in our children instead of the worst. Let us see the genius and hero in them and not the Villain, and let us remember that a child is a uniquely distinct creature of God. He is special and should be compared with/to others. Watch Him/her and see that he/she has been endowed in rich abundance.

Education / Effect Of Juvenile Delinquency On A Child's Education. by Fairygist(m): 4:37pm On Sep 21, 2017
Juvenile delinquency can be seen as a misbehavior on the part of very young persons in the society. When these young people engage themselves in bad acts like damaging of property, engaging themselves in acts like rape, riots etc we can say that it is an act of juvenile delinquency.
Ignorance leads someone into juvenile delinquency but education is what leads Someone out of ignorance and free from juvenile delinquency.

In a related development, the effect of juvenile delinquency on a child education includes, such misbehavior which can cause a drop out from school. This is so because when a child misbehavior or commit a crime, the school authority can suspend such a one and the child can from that suspension decides to stop school totally, or the crime may be the one the child will be ashamed of and will not like to continue schooling.

More so juvenile delinquency makes the child not to be disciplined. Any child that engages in an act of misbehavior or he or she is used to committing crimes, cannot be a disciplined child. This is so because the desire to do things wrongly cannot allow someone to be disciplined. Children that lack control cannot be disciplined and an undisciplined mind is stony to education.

Judging from the above mentioned points, any child that is not disciplined usually lacks comportment. Education needs concentration and hard work therefore; any child that lacks comportment cannot archive any good result in his/her education career.

This is so because one can only read and do assignment when one comports himself to do so.
Consequently, juvenile delinquency makes a child to lack focus academically. Children that engages themselves in sneaking out of school during lessons, children that engage in pilfering, in destruction of school property etc usually lack focus academically.

In conclusion, we have seen that juvenile delinquency does more harm than in a child's education. This is so because a child that misbehaves is not disciplined and hardly takes instruction. Such a child looks down on constituted authorities in the school. Juvenile delinquency makes the child to engage in risky adventure that is used to the benefit of the child...
