Religion / Jesus Is God - A Response To Reno Omokri by FelixIshola(m): 2:23pm On Aug 19, 2019
In a recent Instagram post, Reno said,

‘Let me shock you. Yeshua (Jesus) came to show us the Way to God because He, Yeshua, is the ONLY Way to God. He is the everlasting Melchizedek High Priest. The Mediator between God and man. But He is NOT the Almighty God. That is a European concept’.

ME: Reno acknowledges that Jesus (Yeshua) is the ONLY Way God and that He is the everlasting ‘Melchizedek High Priest’ but He is not the Almighty God; calling Him God is a European idea. By saying that Jesus is not God, Reno Omokri is saying that Jesus is just another man who only functions as the way to God.

Stripping Jesus of His divinity disqualifies Him from being the perfect Saviour that He is. Thankfully, the Bible is unequivocal in its claim of Jesus being God. The prophecy that announced the coming of the Son of God declared Him to be mighty God. Let’s read it,

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

So, according to scriptures, Jesus is Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God and Everlasting Father. But Reno does not agree, he insists that the Son of God is not God. Scriptures call Him Mighty God and Everlasting Father but Reno says he is none of the above; He is not more than the Way. Let us look at another passage: – (Hebrews 1:8-10)

But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. (Here, the Son is referred to as God – ‘to the Son He says, ‘Your throne o God…’’)

You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.” (This verse shows that this God, the Son was anointed by His God. He is called God in verse 8 and verse 9 says that God anointed Him. This shouldn’t confuse anyone. It only shows that the Godhead consist of more than one person. Here, it says that the Father God anointed the Son God. But that does not make the Son lower in might. The next verse confirms this).

And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. (Here, God the Son is said to have laid the foundation of the earth and that the heavens are the work of His hands, meaning that He made the heavens as well. If that does not qualify Him to be Almighty, I don’t know what will)

I will share one more passage that show that Jesus the Son of God IS Almighty God. This next passage reveals the reason people like Reno Omokri are able to put Jesus down from His Almighty position, it shows why they mistakenly think that He is below the person that can be called Almighty God:

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:5-8 ).

Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation and came in the likeness of men. Jesus, being God and being equal in power and Glory with God (the Father), left His glory as God and became an ordinary man in order to be the perfect sacrifice for the sin of man.

Jesus reached down to lift us up, He descended to our level that we might be lifted to His level. He descended to man’s level; He took man’s nature; He endured man’s temptations; died in man’s place; conquered man’s foe; achieved man’s victory; and secured man’s salvation! All these He could do because He left the glory He had with the Father and took the form of lowly man.

Unfortunately, most people cannot see beyond that Man of Galilee who taught on the streets of ancient Israel and who was opposed until He was killed on the cross. But that Man was not an ordinary man, He was not like the other men. He was not born of the seed of any man. The Seed that gave the conception of Him was of God. He is not the Son of God by title, He is the Son of God in actuality and literally. God’s Seed fertilized Mary’s womb to produce His flesh.

He is a Man but He is more than a man. His life did not begin with His birth; it was His life in the human flesh that began with His birth. As for Him, He had been from everlasting to everlasting as God. Another prophecy about His birth says,

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting. (Micah 5:2)

So, that Baby (Jesus) who was born at Bethlehem is from everlasting; an Eternal Person who took the form of a Man and was born as a Child.

Before His birth, He was the everlasting One, equal in every way with the Father. Then He laid down His eternal glory and took the form of a man. The Father, thorough the Holy Spirit then took that ‘form’ and fertilized the womb of Mary with it as Seed. When he was born, He became the Son of God. Read this:

And the angel answered and said to her (Mary), “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)

In His eternal glory in the eternal realm, He is the Word of God. But after he was born as a man, He also became the Son of God. So, right now, He is both the Word of God and the Son of God at the same time. He is God’s beloved Son, the Word in the flesh.

This leads me to another aspect of Reno’s post. He says the following,

RENO: ‘Many Christians read John 1:1 in The Bible (not the Scriptures) and use that to claim that Yeshua is God. I will urge you to get the original Greek Scriptures (see the attached picture) and even if you can’t read Greek, just study that verse.’

ME: He wants to talk about John 1:1 but instead of going straight into what the verse says, he needed to first create confusion for the gullible. He insinuated that the bible is different from the scriptures and then urged his followers to get the original Greek scriptures to study. His original Greek scripture happen to be a part of an old scroll which he showed in a picture. He is simply trying to discourage people from reading and studying of the bible. He wants them to believe that the scriptures that can be relied upon are beyond the reach of normal people and that only ‘scholars’ like him has them. Utter nonsense!

Now, let’s hear what Reno has to say about John 1:1: –

RENO: ‘This is the verse in pure Greek (Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ λόγος, καὶ ὁ λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν θεόν, καὶ θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος). Although you may not be able to read the Greek, what John 1:1 says when translated without changing the words used for God is this “in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with Theon and the Word was Theos”. The original Scriptures did not use the same word for the first mention of God and the second mention. The word used in the first mention is THEON (which refers to the Almighty. The word in the second mention is THEOS which is what is used to refer to Yeshua.’

ME: This shows that my brother Reno does not have any understanding of the Greek language. Any Greek speaker who reads his submission will surely laugh him to scorn. He just demonstrated a catastrophic level of ignorance of the Greek language.

I am not a native Greek speaker but I am a current learner of the language. I have taken some lessons in Greek but I still I have a long way to go before fully mastering the language. However, I know enough to see the error in Reno’s submission.

The Greek words Theon and Theos are not different; they are the same word in different cases. In Greek, a word can present in different forms based on where it is in a sentence. In this case, Theon is God in the accusative case while Theos is God in the nominative case. The same word in the Genitive case is Theou (used of God in Mark 1:1).

The accusative case of a word is used when that word is the object of a preposition or when it is the direct object of a transitive verb. A general rule in Greek is that any word preceded by a preposition is presented in the accusative case. In John 1:1; the word ‘Theon’ is preceded by the preposition pros (with). That is why it is written in the accusative case, Theon. ‘The word was with God’ in Greek literally reads, Kai (and) o (the) logos (word) in (was) pros (with) ton (the) Theon (God).

The nominative case of a word is used when it is the subject in the sentence. It is also called the subjective case. It is the noun doing something (subject) in a sentence while the accusative is the noun to which something is being done (object). In John 1:1, God becomes the subject of the sentence in that part that says, ‘God was the word’. This is why we have the word presented in the nominative case, Theos.

In Greek, there are other cases like the dative case and the genitive case but I cannot talk about all in this short write-up.

Contrary to what Reno says, Theon and Theos are not different words where one is the word for the Almighty God and the other is word for the lesser Yeshua (Jesus). Both words are accurately translated in English as God and they refer to the Almighty God.

The rules of English grammar are different from the rules in Greek. But sometimes in English too, words change based on whether it is the object or subject of a sentence. That rule is only stricter in Greek.

If I say in English, ‘I kicked him’. ‘I’ is the subject of that sentence; ‘kick’ is the verb while ‘him’ is the object. Let us turn the sentence around to ‘He kicked me’. You will notice that when ‘I’ became the object of the sentence, it turned into ‘me’ while ‘him’ turned into ‘he’ when it became the subject. This is the kind of interplay that happened between Theon and Theos in John 1:1.

It is not enough to know isolated words in a language; we must also take time to study what they mean and the rules that guide their usage.

Finally, the divinity of Christ is not subject to debate. It is an affront for anyone to say that He is not THE ALMIGHTY GOD when He himself says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8 )

Jesus Christ is the Almighty. He did not speak for God, He spoke AS God for He is God. In fact, His blood that redeemed us is not ordinary human blood, it is the blood of God. The scriptures show us that the church of God was purchased with the blood of God – the blood of Jesus!

Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. (Acts 20:28)

Jesus is God! He is the Lord of Glory (1 Corinthians 2:8 ); the King of kings and the Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16). Anyone who rejects this truth does so to his or her own detriment.

Good job OP.

I wrote a similar article in link below. But every time I try to upload the concluding part, I get banned by Nairaland without breaking any rule.

The New Testament was written in Greek by the Apostles. They wrote the name of our saviour as Iesous from which we derived Jesus. Since we gentiles where given Iesous as our saviour's name, to hell with whoever is trying to make us use the Hebrew name.

Jesus doesn't care what name you call him. He's only concerned about you obeying and following his word, which if you do, you will be termed wise.

Matthew 7:24-27 (KJV)
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

We are to hold on to what the Apostle who walked the earth with Jesus gave us, not what someone born in the 70s is trying to sell to us.

The worst part is that if you ask all those who are proponents of the Hebrew name of Jesus to tell us the name, you will see how inaccurate they are. Some will say Yeshua, Yahushua, Yehoshua, Yahoshua, Yahshua etc. Which one is it exactly? They do not known, yet they say that must be the name above every other name.

Guess what? We already have the name above every other name and it is Iesous Kristos i.e Jesus Christ which was given to us by the disciples.

The people behind the movement towards the Hebrew name of Jesus are actually evil men belonging to secret cults and Jewish Kabalah. They know how power the name Jesus is, so they throw in everything to discredit it and confuse Christians.

Some of them include Antichrist called Daddy Freeze and Reno Omokri.

Matthew 24:1-2 (KJV)
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

As seen above, the disciples showed Jesus the BUILDINGS of the temple which must have included every fence and wall. What did Jesus say? He said not one stone will be left standing on another when they get destroyed. Jesus was making it clear that the temple would be destroyed because God will no longer have need for it because He will now dwell in humans instead of temples.

Yet, Pastor Reno Omokri who claims to know the Bible could be seen going to the fraud called a wailing wall to seek the presence of God. He believes that the wailing wall is actually what's left of the demolished temple. He believes the lie over the words of Jesus Christ who said "There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down". The wailing wall today is what's actually left of the Antonia Fortress built by the Roman soldiers who destroyed the Temple. Reno Omokri has clearly rejected the words of the one whom he professes to follow and has gone to join judaism which is an Antichrist religion in that it rejects Jesus as the messiah/Christ.

Look at him below.

Wow. Thank you for sharing. Don't mind those liars. Reno even says that Jesus is not God. I refuted that in another write up here https://justjesus.ng/index.php/2019/08/14/jesus-is-god-responding-to-reno-omokri/

Pretty good information on the whole. I'd like to make one small addition:How about we go back further, to the earliest English translation we have of the Gospels? The Wessex Gospels is from 990, and here's their rendering of Matthew 1:1:

Her is on eneorisse bóc Hælendes Cristes, Dauides suna, Abrahames suna.

This is fantastic. Thank You.
Religion / Jesus Is Not Different From Yeshua by FelixIshola(m): 12:42pm On Aug 16, 2019
In recent times, some people are saying that Jesus is not the Son of God; that Jesus is a character created 400 years ago by some conspiracy, that Jesus is a roman god, and that Jesus is not the Saviour of the world.

According to them, Jesus is an impostor who impersonates Yeshua, the real and authentic Son of God and Saviour of the world. At first I wanted to just snub them (they actually deserve to be snubbed) but reading some comments by people who are genuinely confused has prompted me to respond to those buffoons.

For those who are bothered by those foolish utterances, my message to you is simple: ignore them! They are simply showing their buffoonery; don’t let them disturb you in any way. If you observe some of the perpetuators of this lie, you will notice that something is tragically wrong with their thinking processes. This latest outburst is just one of the various ways by which they give expression to their personal confusions and inner frustrations.

Jesus and Yeshua are not different persons and they are not different names. The two words are one; they are the same name of the same person expressed in different languages. The English form, ‘Jesus’ came from the Greek rendering of the Hebrew name ‘Yeshua’ or ‘Yehoshua’ (in full). Yeshua (or Yehoshua) is a compound word from two Hebrew words, ‘Yehovah’, meaning ‘God’ and ‘Yasha’ meaning ‘to be safe or free or delivered’. So, Yeshua means ‘God saves’ or ‘God is salvation’.

‘Yeshua’ when transliterated into Greek becomes ‘Iesous’, from where the English ‘Jesus’ is derived. The Greek, ‘Iesous’ is not a translation for the Hebrew, ‘Yeshua’; it is a transliteration. In other words, the Hebrew ‘Yeshua’ was represented using corresponding letters in the Greek alphabet. ‘Yeshua’ written in Greek is ‘Iesous’. Both is the same name, they have the same meaning, and they refer to the same person.

There is no word in Greek that corresponds sufficiently to capture the depth of meaning that the Hebrew Word ‘Yeshua’ contains. So, rather than use a Greek word that ruins its depth, the writers decided to use the exact word in its Greek equivalent. They simply presented ‘Yeshua’ in its Greek form, using the Greek letters to form ‘Iesous’ (Jesus).

If the New Testament had been written in Hebrew, the word Yeshua (Hebrew) would have been used instead of Iesous (Greek); and the English would have rendered it as Joshua instead of Jesus. In the English language, we have two different forms of that same name: one from its Hebrew form and the other from the Greek. Joshua is the English version of the Hebrew form, ‘Yeshua’ while Jesus is the English version of the Greek form, ‘Iesous’.

Transliteration of names and other words from Hebrew to Greek did not start with the writers of the New Testament; it had been a practice long before them.

Because of the wider scope of the Greek language, the Jews at a point began writing in Greek instead of in Hebrew, and that was long before the Lord Jesus Christ came.

They produced a sizeable body of literature in the Greek language because of its spread and far-reaching effect which was above the Hebrew language. The most significant of such literature was the Septuagint, the Greek version of the Old Testament. 72 Jewish scholars produced that Greek version of the Old Testament in 72 days under the sponsorship of Ptolemy Philadelphus (the Ptolemaic Pharaoh who ruled from 283 BC to 246 BC). The translation became known as ‘Septuagint’, the Latin word for 70 and ‘LXX’ the Roman numeral for 70 is used as the abbreviation for it.

In that material (the Septuagint), the name of Joshua (the Old Testament Joshua) was rendered as Iesous. So, before Jesus came at all, the Greek form of His name had been Iesous. The New Testament writers followed this established pattern and there was no confusion about it at all. No one saw Yeshua as different from Iesous.

‘Jesus’ is the current English form of the Greek ‘Iesous’. The earliest English form of the name was not even different from the Greek.

You see, language and its expressions change over time. The English language has not always been the way we know it to be today. Things change as language move from one generation to another. If you check ancient English versions of the Bible, you will find the name, Jesus written as Iesus because they did not have the letter ‘J’ that we now have. This does not in any way reduce the efficacy or the correctness of the word ‘Jesus’.

If you know the history of the English language, you will know that there was a time that the letter ‘U’ was pronounced as a ‘V’ while letter ‘V’ was pronounced as ‘U’. If you did not know that, it will be a shock to you. So, please don’t let us complicate life for ourselves. I will now quote Matthew 1:1 in two ancient biblical texts. Notice their expressions and appreciate the amount of change that has happened to our beloved English language:

This is the booke of the generation of Iesus Christ, the sonne of Dauid, the sonne of Abraham. (Matthew 1:1 – Bishop’s Bible 1568)

The booke of the generation of Iesvs Christ the sonne of Dauid, the sonne of Abraham. (Matthew 1:1 – Geneva Bible 1587)

Did you notice the way book, Jesus, son, and David were spelt? Clearly different from the way we do, yet it is the same English language, only in the ancient form.

I believe I have been able to help somebody with this information. Jesus was not created some 400 years ago by some conspiracy, Jesus is not a roman god (check roman history for yourself, you will not see any idol by the name of Jesus), Jesus is not an impostor of Yeshua; Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

And the Greek presentation ‘Iesous’ (Jesus) did not come from Romans or Europeans; it came from Greek speaking Jews who found the way to write the same name, Yeshua in Greek alphabet.

Don’t let the different language renderings of His name confuse you. Yehoshua HaMoshiach in Hebrew is Iesous Christos in Greek, Jesus Christ in English, Jesucristo in Spanish, Jesus Cristo in Portuguese, Yesu Almasihu in Hausa, Jisus Kraist in Igbo, Jesu Kristi in Yoruba and so on. Praise God!

Finally, the power in the Name is not in the letters but in the Spirit. In other words, the power is not in the five letters, J-E-S-U-S; it is in the Person that the name represents. This is why we can call the Name in several languages and still get the same result. There are many Spanish and Portuguese speaking people who bear the name Jesus and many of those people are not even saved.

So, the power is not in the verbal pronunciation of Jesus or Yeshua; it is in the spiritual connectivity with that divine Person who died on the cross and rose from the dead after three days. If that is the Person you are talking about when you say, ‘in Jesus name’, there will inevitably be a flow of power and the manifestation of the supernatural. But if you are shouting ‘Jesus’ or ‘Yeshua’ with just the letters in your mind; your words will be empty and powerless.

The person to whom your spirit is connected when you mention the name (in whatever language) is what determines the impact of the name in your mouth. Thank You.
